2.0 Animated Gif - Fascinate General

Screwed up the title, can anyone fix that? Is anyone else unable to get animated gifs working in 2.2? I was under the impression this was a feature.

If you're talking about the 3DGallery playing animated gifs, then yes for me right now on the Froyo leak, animated gifs work. They also worked for me on the Eclair, as far as I'm aware it is a feature of Samsung's version of the 3DGallery. So if your ROM is using the AOSP 3DGallery, you won't have it.

2.1 .APK file links

I would like to start a thread that can be a hub for the new 2.1 .APK files that are usable on the Eris.
I have tried the current live wallpapers and will install but they are not visible.
Here is a link to the WeatherGenie from Nexus 1. http://download887.mediafire.com/iwj7jx90ftvg/xmtwizbmm3m/GenieWidget.apk
Here is the same app but transparent, you need to uninstall the regular one for it to work. http://sites.google.com/site/droidlife3/home/GenieWidget-transparent.apk?attredirects=0
Add anything to this list you know will work.
Please test before you post the .apk
Some more interesting APK from the Desire we could use? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=642189 From what I am seeing there maybe the update copy and paste included.

Are these tested? Please only tested .apks that we know will work on the Eris. Thank You!
I tested the gallery app. It works, unless you tilt the phone horizontal, then the screen goes crazy until you tilt back vertically.
I tested the music app. It works fine.
I installed and ran the clock app, I didn't like it as much as the HTC clock app, so I uninstalled it (it seemed to work fine)
I did not try either launcher.
I believe these are the extra HTC widgets we can't directly D/L fromthe HTC widget placer thingy.

I got battery and dice in the marketplace 2.1 just like I did in 1.5.
Thought I would make it easy.

This one definitely does not work. Causes FC loop which requires some Home-button-timing to get out of.

This works, but is very slow, and breaks in landscape mode. (Not FC-breaks, but massive-distortion-breaks.

Again, FC loop. No leads on the cause, I'll fire up ADB later and try to track this down.
I posted this in the wrong spot sorry. Do not post in here but instead I will start one in the correct section. Closed.

Launcher2 works perfectly for me, on my Eris, but mine is leaked 2.1, so that might be the reason.
Most people are running the "leaked" 2.1 rom on this forum and seem to not have it working... Me included, did you do anything to get it to load? and where did you DL it from?
@Allow:
how are you testing it?
I ask because I too have installed the leaked 2.1 (as has everyone who has 2.1 on an Eris) and I get the FC loop when I click the home button and choose to use Launcher for the action.

OR maybe im completely wrong here and you may very well be that 1%.
got pics to prove you have it working?
I am also getting the looping and I am running 2.1.
Omg. People pease try reading around. Launcher2 will not load. The guy that said that is either a newbie that doesn't know what launcher2 is or just likes drama. Of course with screenshot plus video I will apologize. But I have logcats from trying to load launcher2 that looks for lib files we can't add with out root

With a total of 4 post in XDA I am going to have to say that the guy is both but then again I have been surprised before maybe hes discovered how to root the the Eris
The music app is the only one that fully works and it's not much better than the leaked 2.1 eris' music app. The clock wont do fahrenheit or bring up my location at all. This thread is a complete fail.

[REQ] Froyo Email app for Sense

Is it possible to get that? Do not like Sense, but likes the 720p recordings. The only missing stuff for my case is the Froyo Email App.
cheers.

[Noticed that Animation in Gallery is bad when use Froyo]

I flashed Froyo ROM for my phone everything is fast just one think that in Gallery when the it search the photo the animation is so bad not as Eclair that animation in Gallery is beautiful.Did anyone that use Froyo on Galaxy S noticed? And if there his the solution for this problem is very great.
Gallery is crap anyway, doesn't show the full picture resolution. Try JustPictures instead
I don't konw about problem.So bad animation.

[Q] Live Wallpaper starting only after hitting settings

Hi,
first of all, sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language
On to my problem:
I'm using RaduGs Tasty Ginger 2.0 and managed to install live wallpaper support.
I installed different wallpapers but when selecting one, they don't give a preview. When choosing one, there's only a black background on my homescreen.
When going back to wallpaper selection, choosing one and then FIRST hit settings, then just go back, i do get a preview!
When i now try to set this wallpaper as the standard one, i'm back on a black homescreen.
This happens with all ROMs i recently installed (radug, elelinux, cronos), but only with lw using opengl.
i tried for example "multipicture live wallpaper" or "Maps Live Wallpaper", they do work.
When choosing "Wave Live Wallpaper" or "Original Flurry Live Wallpaper", they don't work, only as described above.
Is there a workaround?

The Hero doesn't have 3D support so a lot of the live wallpapers you find on the market won't work on it and will result in a black homescreen. And I believe most ROMs use old OpenGL libraries.
To be honest it's not worth installing them anyway, they are very slow on the Hero, and even if they run smooth it brings the rest of the phone to a halt. Not to mention the battery drain.

I know, but the mentioned Wallpaper do work, but only after hitting settings an just press the back-button. only when applied as wallpaper, there's a black homescreen.
If i'm not completely wrong, RaduG uses v1.1 of opengl, so it's up to date, isn't it?

You're right, the g2 is too slow for some of these wallpapers, it's only to play around a bit
But i'm willing to get a htc desire or samsung galaxy s gt-i9000. i'd only wanted to know, if someone else can confirm this to figure out if it's a hero or a gingerbread and froyo thing.

Animated GIFs in 2.3

I can't figure animated GIFs out. Sometimes they seem to work, other times not. I've seen this on 2.2 as well where they work only occasionally.
On JVH deodexed ([Ramad]) they are not working for me. I'm curious what firmware versions they actually work 100% on, or if there is some kind of trick to get them working.
