[Q] which media player/sync software do you use? - Epic 4G General

what is the best media player and sync for epic..
i have used poweramp and doubletwist..both with high reviews.. but i m not interested in paid version (poweramp) and double twist does the job for now ..
but syncing is a hassle...i tried air sync and thats completely broken since somehow it reduced the bitrate to 64kbps for all 320kbps songs i had... i tried media monkey to sync but its not consistent... didnt try media player. .. winamp also works but making it see the phone is a headache..sometimes it sees.. sometimes it doesnt...
what do you use?? or do u just copy folders directly??? all the album art etc is messed up right now on my phone and even the id3 tags are messed up using media monkey( it has the right ones)...
just want to get your thoughts.

what do u sync it with?

Throw songs on your sd. Android will group them through media scanner. If you like the wifi thing.. try es file explorer. You'd have to setup a network share on your media pc though. Btw I really like mortplayer. Probably the most customizeable player out there.
cd's or tapes?

isyncr is really good. Works very well.

I use windows media player to sync and winamp as my player.

MediaMonkey does it well for me.

I use doubletwist with air sync. I dont transfer songs too often, but when I do doubletwist has been pretty good with the wireless sync. I like the player too since its simple and has a nice, clean widget. It also now has lockscreen controls which are good or annoying if you dont wanna pause the song lol

Drag and Drop with Windows Explorer to sync....
TouchWiz media player (DK28).... I'd prefer that it didn't stop my song at 10% battery life but other than that it just works.
There ya go... simple and effective

What are you guys using to Sync Music?

Coming from an iPhone I'm looking for something to repalce iTunes. A wireless sync program would be perfect, but wired will work. It also be nice if it could sync with a backup program to make full system backups like the iPhones does.

double twist is free and it works great BUT it doesn't do over the air and I don't know of a service that does this for free. the next best thing (actually better than double twist) is something called missing sync.
Froyo will include ota music as part of the Simplify Media team.
Doubletwist is a great program and I would recommend it to anyone. However, if you don't mind spending a few bucks you can get The Missing Sync which will sync your music right from iTunes through it's own worm whole.
I dont mind getting rid of Itunes...always was a laggy pos.
TuneSync. It's awesome if you're an iTunes user and don't want to re-home your library. It's a background app that will sync playlists over Wifi. Has OSX and Windows versions.
I'm really happy with it. Free version is limited to 20 songs per playlist. I bought the full for like $4.
It will also reverse sync any mp3's bought from the Amazon store on the handset. That's a pretty nice feature.
EDIT: Missing Sync looks cool, but it's $40. Syncs a lot more than music, but if you just want to sync music, TuneSync is your app at 10% of the price.
doubletwist always freezes on me. I use Songbird to sync.
I use isyncr straight from iTunes

I've been using double twist which is almost as much of a dog as itunes is on my machine, but tune sync looks good, I'll have to check that out.

drag and drop doesn't work for you?
I haven't bothered to sync a bunch of music, I am mostly using Last.FM android app, but I recommend mediamonkey, just set it up as generic usb device
tho if you have lossless files, on the fly conversion requires the non-free gold version.

I like to lower the bit rate. What I play on my home stereo and my EVO are two different things.
Windows Media Player can sync music as well.
But there's nothing easier than just drag&drop.
Screw iTunes.
iSyncr. Love making playlists on my PC in iTunes, easy to organize songs I want/don't want by checking/unchecking in iTunes. Isn't free but is very easy to use.

What desktop program are YOU using to manage ur X10's music and videos?

I want to know of a good program to manage my music on my comp and x10, i use VLC atm but its not great, ive tried double twist and both the desktop app and the actual app are crap and im never guna use itunes, so let me know what you use recomend
I use mediamonkey...IMO it's the best music manager out there.
and on the x10 I sometimes use mediascape but prefer using btunes (its has an ipod like interface)
I just use the good old "copy and paste" method.
I'm using double twist. The android app is pretty and then I found out it had desktop software too. I came.

Am I right in assuming that those of you that only copy and paste...dont use playlists?
Double twist / iTunes & iPhoto on OSX.
I've got a media library of 10000+ lossless, I'd die of old age if i had to use copypasta and couldn't automatically transcode and sync playlists.

I use Media Go and Mediascape. Like with all new softwares, it took me a while to get use to the UI of both but now it's like second nature. I like media go's Gracenote since most of my music are downloaded from Youtube videos. Gracenote puts the information automatically which allows phone to download the album art cover. I also like the ability to create playlist coz I like the option to be able to play music by mood.
I use good ol' Total Commander
Left Pane: music directory on the PC.
Righ Pane: music directory on the SD Card.
MediaGo people give it alot of flak, but I think its not that bad. Get my podcasts, music, playlists, pictures and videos organized and auto syncs

I use the cut-and-paste method, and use playlists too. I simply create the playlists in Windows (e.g. use Winamp) and then cut-and-paste the m3u playlist file to the phone as well. Mediascape detects the playlist fine.

i need a good MEDIA Player, and a good sync client.
I have more than one device, i have a milestone as well. and i change devices like the wind.
lastly i have mood playlists and these msut be synced well.
so I use Windows Media Player in Windows 7. its magic.
Great Media Player, and does sync pretty well with the sync.
I have a problem with Double twist. Seems when it transfers m4a files encoded by Itunes, (I used to use OS Crap), it doesnt transger the tags. so half my librtary (Music I actually bought and encoded, vs downloading on the Bay) all gets lumped in the Unknown artist area, even though the tags are in the desktop app.
WMP doesnt sync playlists unless you use MTP protocol, (ie it will only transfer and check if the song in a playlist exists, but it wont actually tranfer the playlist file itself)
so i manually export the playlist files onto the device.
that way i have one media program on my computer.

Unknown Artist Problem

Just got my SGS2. Fired up iSyncr and iTunes and synced about 1600 songs to my new phone.
Media Scan then completed
I fired up powerAMP and PlayerPro and stock music player.
ALL of them showed 408 songs as unknown artist.
Yet on my Motorola Defy and in iTunes all the artists are perfect. I have formatted the sd card and resynced the music still no good.
Anyone else experienced this problem?
Yes, though I used TuneSync to move them over. I just removed album art from one album and had iTunes reload it automatically. Then I sync'ed again, now the music shows up. All of it, even the stuff that I didn't touch. Weird. (XWKE7, rooted)
How do you sync iTunes with this phone?
I haven't got the phone yet but it would be good to know
programs on the phone called isyncr or tune sync will do it.
though any m4a/acc music wont show artist names correctly.
Does it come pre installed?
no, they can be purchased from the market.
I'd suggest giving iTunes away, only gives you headaches if you aren't an iOS user. Better to have a properly curated tag collection...

nope, poweramp, player pro, winamp, double twist AND stock media player ALL have the same problem.
Thats because its a problem with the way the media scanner reads the ID3 tag of the m4a file and then adds it to the android music library that ALL the above media players read from.
What? I had the same issue with my vibrant. Poweramp automatically fetches album covers. Even random mixtape songs.
I agree it should work by default. But its hit or miss with devices. Poweramp solves this problem by fetching the album covers.

sorry, all my music already has album art.
Try MediaFix from the Market.
Try MIUI Music APK. That always popped out artist info, lyrics, CD art, and everything else automatically for me. Well, 90% of the time at least.
There is a bug in Android's media indexing & storage service. Sometimes it doesn't get the artist. Some apps like Mediafix or TuneSync index the music themselves and put the correct artist in the service's database. Until the bug is fixed, the only way to solve the problem is to either use players that don't rely on the service or to fix database yourself with the appropriate applications. MIUI's player will only work better if it doesn't rely on Android's internal indexing. I'm pretty sure it does rely on it.

Best way to get itunes music to N7?

Looking for the recommended way to transfer itunes music to the N7. I don't really want to purchase any converters and I don't have any protected content. It's just that not all files are mp3, and they're in the itunes file formats. Been searching and have ideas, but figured this would be a great place to ask.

Music syncing software?

I am coming from an iPhone and boy boy BOY do I miss the seamless syncing between iTunes and my iPhone..
It was nothing short of great.....
Now that I am rocking an S4, I am definitely missing this feature. I am using Winamp right now, but its not very good at deciphering stuff..and Samsung Kies is a joke.
I am looking for a piece of software that would rock at syncing my music with my S4 in a nice fashion. Any suggestions as I am really REALLY missing my iPhone 5 now simply because of a very simple feature...

I agree, if you are plugging the phone in, just treat it as a drive and drag and drop. Syncing with iTunes is a big pain and a waste if you don't use song counts or any of that nonsense. If you already have your music organized by artist and album, then copy/paste is a lot faster.

Exactly. Especially since Android runs a media scanner whenever you unplug, so all your Music apps like stock or Poweramp will see the changes instantly. And you can sort by folder so this is a great solution.
Reviving the topic, to see if anyone has a suggestion for PC software to sync music with the Galaxy S4.
I would prefer to have a program to handle this, so I don't have to manually build the folder structure (artist\album\file.mp3) and also, so I don't have to remember which new files I've gotten that need to be uploaded. Right now I'm using Windows Media Player, it worked reasonably well with my Xperia Ion, but with the Galaxy I have to stop and restart the sync and then stop it again, since it never reaches 100% even though all the mp3 files were uploaded. Also, it is not really syncing, if I change anything in already uploaded files, like tag or artwork, the changes don't go through, even if I manually delete the old file from my phone card.
I've tried Winamp, it doesn't recognize the SD card and wants to upload the files to the phone internal memory. Both Kies and Songbird never really connect to the device, they stay trying to connect for a long time. And Doubletwist Desktop does not update the music library when some files are added, deleted or changed.
SPOTIFY... 8 bucks a month for an unbelievable amount of music. The offline mode makes tracks accessible without and data and you can share music with your friends. You can also check out what they are jamming to and discover new music. I don't even know what people use iTunes anymore. Spotify also has a desktop interface so you can enjoy your music at the office on the Pc or Mac
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
Thanks for the info. I'm not at all interested in all the "social" stuff, I just need an efficient way to sync my PC music library with my phone. I considered Google Music at some point, since it was offering 20,000 songs (double my library) for free, that you need to upload. Problem is that there is no easy way to tell the program to store it in a specific folder in the SD card. Also, I don't think you can just make the whole library offline, you have to do it track by track, or maybe album by album. How is Spotify in these two issues? Although, quite frankly, for almost $100 a year I'll probably stick with WMP for free.
