From Samsung's Website:
Samsung had a news release of the new Vibrant 4G or the so called, Galaxy S 4G. In the news print, i've excerpt the synopsis of its specs:
" With a slim and sleek design, the Galaxy S 4G’s 4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen display gives customers a vivid, sharp viewing experience, whether consumers choose to watch a movie or read a book or newspaper with the preloaded Kindle for Android application while on the go. Powered by Android™ 2.2, the Galaxy S 4G is equipped with a speedy Samsung 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Application Processor, an ST-Ericsson M5720 HSPA+ 4G modem to enable theoretical peak downloads of up to 21 Mbps, a 5 megapixel camera, a preinstalled 16GB microSD memory card, and a 1650 mAh lithium ion battery. I'm more interested on that 4G antenna modem, that 1650 mAh battery, and what kind of camera they've installed....
Hmm.
Probably gonna get that battery if its not too expensive

No its the same battery that was in galaxy s international version that was released in Italy so it should be the same.

I don't think so. If anything, the I9000 door *might* fit?
I'm curious about the antenna. I wonder is it's compatible and would fit on the vibe's current antenna slot.
Then if the Vibe can capture that bandwith.... hmm
I can't wait to get my hands on that and see if i can operate on it and swap the antenneas

With a 5GB monthly cap until one is throttled and 21Mbps (or 2.62MBps) service, that means one can use the service at full blast for 1904 seconds, or 31.74 minutes a month before throttling.

You forgot to account for the fact that faster speed means lower actual usage time, meaning that the 31.74 minutes will last you for a while.
Ex. a 200 MB video instead of loading at 7.2 mbps (0.88 MB/s rounded to nears 1 MB), taking at least 200 seconds; the same videos will now load in less than 80 seconds.
This is of course, if your phone can hit the theoretical maximum all the time.

Yeah, 200MB of video is like 20 minutes of full resolution video on our phones at a 5GB/month cap it is like 8-9 hours of video a month.
That is about five or six 90 minute movies a month.
If you are downloading movies, it still makes sense to do it over wifi.
Given that caps I'm not pining after the V+4G (not that I'd turn one down) and why I think that 4G is a poor substitute for broadband.

Yup, I mean the 4g technology is amazing. It's just the carrier and their artificial cap that's crippling the service. Today it's like the old dial up time, when access is counted by the minutes (in our case it is counted by the bandwidth). I can't wait until we move pass this period and onto the future where wireless internet is the norm.

The Nexus S details are a little more enlightening. Keep in mind the original version might have been scrapped, so these leaked specs are subject to change:
ArmV7 CPU Open GL ES Supported
~328 MB Ram
1 GB Internal Memory
800×480 Resolution 4″ Super Amoled (2?)
Screen 720p Video Recording
T-Mobile (at least this one)
Source: androidandme.com
I really do hope these specs are wrong. I was going to buy this phone for sure. I really was. Despite how everyone has been hating it for being by Samsung and being plastic. I was still going to get it. But now? Forget it. I don’t care if it has a dual code processor and great screen. It needs to have 1 GB of RAM or 768 MB at least. This phone may be ugly but it needs to have amazing specs and no GPS problems or any lag problems. Otherwise I will stick with my nexus one.
I will believe it comes with only 328MB RAM when I see it in front of me.
I'd say its a typo.

dual core ? oh, okay dokay.
see, typos aren't targeting creatures. they can strike anyone, anytime. obviously it was meant to say 328Gb, and 1Tb on the not-here-yet S.
just wait.
The Nexus S probably only showed 328 MB FREE, if I remember correctly the GPU in the Hummingbird dedicates a ton of RAM to itself. This phone definitely needs at least 768 MB leaving 5xx MB free.
If it's 512MB (which it currently looks like), 1GB of ROM and the same Hummingbird, I'll pass. I'll just wait for CM to port 2.3 to the EVO and wait for the HTC dual cores.
id hope it doesn't have 328 mb ram
Just sounds like a Galaxy S then really.
All the people whining about lack of RAM - did you ever bother to check the amount of free RAM at any given time on Nexus One since Froyo?
Well, I guess you didn't, since Nexus doesn't go below 160MB free RAM, and you need to work hard to make it go below 200MB - which is a HUGE waste. You want to waste even more? 1GB of RAM? Really? Did you see applications that can use 1/10 of it?
328MB RAM can't come with the phone, because 99% of the time RAM comes in powers of 2, and very rarely there are 3 banks used, making the last multiplier 3 instead of 2. 328MB doesn't fit anywhere, so it's not a real number.

As I stated earlier, it's probably 512 MB but the GPU in the Hummingbird dedicates a huge chunk of it for itself. The Adreno 200 GPU in the Nexus One still leaves over 500 MB free -- 5xx MB vs 328 MB is a HUGE difference. So that considered, it'd be a huge step down from the Nexus One if it doesn't at least have 768 MB to even things out.

Guess you have never owned a galaxy s either then which lags terribly when it's used pretty much all of its paltry sum of ram?
Trust me if this doesn't at least have double the amount of ram that this article says it has then that is a major mistake imo. Time will tell though.
512MB of RAM should be more than sufficient. Here is a quote from Dianne Hackborn, Android Framework Engineer
The Nexus One has 512MB of RAM and honestly that is really more than we know what to do with. It is great. I ended up putting some code into the
activity manager to put a hard limit on the number of processes we would
keep around, because there was so much memory we had often could keep way
more processes than was useful. That was never an issue on Droid.

The Nexus != SGS/Nexus S
Again, you're forgetting about the available RAM. I just checked my EVO (very similar CPU/GPU) running CM6.1 and I was wrong about the 5xx figure, it actually has 424 MB to use. That's almost a 100 MB difference. And what if apps get more complex/heavy? Dual cores are around the corner so why not?
It sounds like a great phone but no better than my vibrant. Its the new generation of android so I would expect new gen hardware like high Res screen, 1080p and all those other great things. The vibrant has amazing hardware so the next generation will be mind blowing, to me anyway. I see no reason to move to the nexus s. I have a nexus one so ill get gingerbread and the S is not better enough to upgrade from a nexus one or vibrant. I understand that they just want a phone on which to release gingerbread but it seems a bit thrown together last minute, not a lot of effort, which is fine but I don't want to have to hear stupid things about Google phones not selling well, as if that's some sort of negative for android generally. I would expect that by now people that want a nexus one or vibrant type hardware already have it so this phone may not sell well. Plus people that know anything are going to be waiting to hear about the next stage of hardware. Definitely not worth jumping on unless you are coming from a lesser phone than the nexus or galaxy s, hardware-wise. On second thought if the GPS works like it does on the nexus one I'd seriously consider selling my vibrant for it. I'm appauled that the vibrants GPS still doesn't work, the most frustration I've experienced with android since its 2008 release is when in the middle of a navigation the screen starts spinning and doesn't regain its composure, happens literally every time. Hell now I think I'm pumped about this phone, I can stop carrying my damn nexus just for the GPS. Its no way to live.

http://www.sandisk.com/products/mobile1-memory-products/sandisk-ultra-microsdxc-card#features
Late this past spring, we heard about the first microSD card that would hit the 64GB mark, setting new limits for how much data you could store on your smartphone. While the cards were announced months ago, they're just now becoming commercially-available products, and SanDisk is the first to bring one to market.
We had guessed back in May that one of these 64GB cards might fetch somewhere in the $200-300 range, and that's pretty spot-on; SanDisk's 64GB card goes for about $220. Obviously, you're paying a premium for getting all that data crammed into one tiny package. An 8GB microSD card with the same speed rating (class 6) can be had for $11, which comes out to about $1.38 per gigabyte. For this 64GB card, you're paying $3.44 per gigabyte, or two and a half times as much.
Then there's the problem of compatibility to deal with. The new 64GB card is a microSDXC device, not just the SDHC we're familiar with. SDHC tops-out at 32GB, and smartphones will need to be able to communicate with SDXC cards in order to take advantage of their increased storage space. We'll absolutely start seeing SDXC support in future phones, both as the prices of the cards drop, and user storage needs grow. For the moment, at least, you'll have to be content at 32GB.
Source: SanDisk
Via: IntoMobile
Which phone would you purchase? Let's hypothetically say the after one year the price of the card dropped to $129.00 as well. Right now you can buy the card at the ridiculous price of $229.00.
This guy said he is using this card with a galaxy S2 right now and I believe him because I just saw a video with somebody using the sd card on the galaxy s 2.

i'd say the Galaxy S II easily, yea yea i really don't care about getting the update first due to the great devs we got on xda(which we'll most likely get them early) and if not we'll definitely have some great roms to hold us off until then
Epic touch does have better specs. Nexus will have better software. Just depends if you always want he latest software or not. Right now the epic touch can get 48 gb of storage. 16 on board and a 32 gb sd card. Galaxy nexus only has 16.

The choice is simple. Galaxy Nexus. After my experience with the Epic, I'm never getting another skinned Samsung phone ever again. I prefer having the latest software to the latest hardware. When you think about it, not much apps truly take advantage of more advanced hardware, save for a few Tegra exclusives, which can be played on the Epic anyways with chainfire.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yep, hardware is totally secondary to me after having the EPIC. The dev's have been great for this phone, especially as of late, but TouchWiz seems to create so many pointless obstacles for development. Flashing rom's is like a straight up hobby/joy in my android world, I enjoy having as many options as possible.

i guess the nexus, because an 64 card, i would never use all of it. all of my music in amazon, and some on the card, and most of the stuff on the card are back ups. and scan at the begin, when turn on the phone would take forever with an 64G card.
I would go with the Galaxy Nexus. The E4GT's screen is too grainy, at 800x480. Played with it in the store. 1280x720 is way better, pentile or not.
In 6 months when all phones are rocking 1280x720 displays, E4GT will be the red-headed stepchild on the block.
Not to mention no NFC chip on the E4GT. And the software update aspect. And the non-standard drivers (no Wiimote, etc).

I bought this card in June for my S4. It transfers at blazing speeds and has been worth every penny.

Avoid Sandisk cards. They have been failing at a high rate, and are slower compared to the competition. I'd recommend getting a Samsung micro-sd card from amazon for just a few dollars more.
I had the ultra in my note 2. Switched to the extreme a month ago when the Lyra started failing.
I found even in the note 2 a noticeable difference in read/write.

Totally agree. I plan to get Sammy's 64GB one for my Galaxy S4....
I was planning to buy the follow up nexus tablet for more than a year now, but the specs are such a let down! My biggest gripe is the max 32 gb storage. I'm OK with 16gb being base, I was never going to get 16 gb anyway. But 32 gb as maximum storage is just too little. I don't need an sd-card and sure I can put some stuff in the cloud, but I won't have wifi at all times! Maybe in the USA, but not where I live. (I don't even prefer cloud services for everything)
Even the nexus 6 has 64 gb of storage, and that's a phone which has a sim card and is almost always connected to the internet! Same with RAM. Why would you put less ram in a tablet and more in a smaller phone? Same with screen. Why use lower resolution on the n9 than on the n6? It makes no sense to me. If all can be crammed in a smaller package, then why not in a bigger package with a bigger battery.
Not to mention the 80$ for an increase in 16 gb.
32 gb....
Agreed, 32 GB max is too little. So is 2 GB for ram : what will be left for apps when the video memory will be deduced ?
But my thought on this is that Google wanted HTC to have a place under the sun : I wouldn't be surprised to find out before Xmas or shortly thereafter (Lollipop exclusivity for X months, maybe, just enough to let all other makers develop their own offering) that HTC has tablets ready just to address those weaknesses, and maybe add a micro-sd reader to the mix.
32gb is plenty for me. My current tablet only has 16gb and I don't even use 50% of the storage space.
Yeah the storage or lack thereof is probably the biggest letdown. Its sad to see Apple making Google look foolish in this regard. Can't even really say that cost is the reason with numerous 128GB consumer SSD options for ~$100. I really don't get it. The weird part when you think about it, is that the Nexus Player seems to be the best part of yesterday's announcement.

Totally agree except I thought nexus 6 and 9 both had same resolution?
And I think nexus 6 should have just got 2 GB of ram and made it cheaper.
And I wouldn't even hesitate to get the nexus 9 if the 32 GB was 399. But 480 is way too much for just increased storage. The storage increase probably doesn't cost them more than a few dollars. Now they're acting like Apple who charge 100 more. I used to like that they only charged 50 more

16 GB - $399
32 GB - $449
64 GB - $499
16GB storage shouldn't even be an option in this day and age. 32GB and above should be the norm. Was hoping Google would lead by example here instead of skimping out
Its not a bad idea to just get the 16gb version, then get a 64gb OTG flash drive for $40.

16 gb is still a viable option because there are so many people out there still using a fraction of the 16 gb provided to them.
More storage options other than 32 should be there, but hey, don't ya think htc/google thought about it?

Let me preface the obvious: this is all IMO. Having said that, I am constantly juggling games and keeping a watch on storage because 16GB just doesn't cut it. Considering that the most popular apps are games, and they've deprecated the usefulness of an external SD storage, they really should up that status quo. The N6 is a good step, the N9 with 16GB seems all the more bizarre in comparison.
If the Nexus 9 had a proper AMOLED screen and more storage it would be amazing but I'm extra glad I got a Tab S now. No point to AOSP if the hardware is lacking. The only reason to lust for N9 is K1 and that just isn't enough.

Will OTG be full supported? This is what I'm thinking.
I've never maxed out my space in my entire life with my smartphones. I couldn't care less.

That would include me. I have no reason to spend more money to buy a 32GB tablet (or phone).

I'm more disappointed by the lack of wireless charging. I have it on my Nexus 7 and a Galaxy S4, and it's spoiled me. Feels like I'd be going backwards by not having it.
My two biggest gripes are wireless charging and the max 32gb. The only thing that makes this remotely palatable is the MicroSD slot but still a 128GB card is going to add $100 to the cost just to get this to the point where it's as functional as an iPad.
A little disappointed given the hype that they were intending to "compete" with the Apple in the high end arena.
The rest of the specs are enough though that I am probably a buyer...

No MicroSD slot. That's why we're all complaining.
What do you guys use memory for? I use the majority for my music, I travel with my entire library which is 40GB, but I'm planning to keep the hard copy on my S4 and just use the cloud for N9. Still probably going to get the 32GB N9 to fit more movies and tv shows.
On TobyDeals, there is a 30% difference in price between the 2Gb/32Gb version and the 3Gb/128Gb. I presume 2GB is insufficient for today's software, which may explain why the offer is so cheap.
Has anyone successfully used the T510 with 2GB RAM ? Does it move at any spead ? Or, does it just spend time swapping from memory when switching between apps ?

Just look at the number of people in this forum still using the T580. It is much slower than the T510 and yet it must satisfy the needs of a lot of people. I was quite happy with mine for years. I now have a T510 with 2gb and a T720 with 4gb. I pretty much use them interchangebly and don't notice much difference. But, then again, I don't use a tablet as a "computer". I have 3 desktop computers at home and only use tablets when I'm "on the go". IMHO, this push for more and more RAM is highly overrated.

I get your point. My current tablet is even older than the T580, being an S2 SM-T810 first launched 2015. I'm still using it, and it has 3Gb RAM. It's my main connection to the online world, but it's slowly giving up the ghost. Hence my interest in current alternatives.
Generally, I agree that the pursuit of "bigger, better, faster" is approaching a plateau in Android. But 2Gb RAM is not there yet. My concern about RAM comes from professional life as a Java programmer. A decade ago, I was able to run my webserver application in 1.5Gb Ram. Now it runs out of memory at 1.5, even before coming up. It hardly moves at 2Gb. It comes into its own at 3Gb, but works better with 4Gb. In Java, the objects have gotten bigger in 64-bit devices. Overheads (the preambles of each object) have also become bigger. Same thing in JavaScript which runs inside the browsers. As I'm writing this on my desktop, Google Chrome takes up 1Gb, without any other windows open. I know it can easily go up to 2.5Gb - just a browser.
As is the case so often, software uses up all resources available. For an analogy, I'm reminded of Microsoft Word which was running 25 years ago at exactly the same speed as it does now - admittedly, with fewer features, but those extras are seldom used now.
BTW, the specs on Gsm Arena show that the version of T580 which have an S-Pen do get 3Gb ram. This doesn't say much, because people who bought the T580 as a low-cost option most likely didn't buy it with an S-Pen

You pretty much made my point. As I said, I don't use my tablets as computers and most people don't either. If you are using yours as a professional developer, you should be able to afford a higher end tablet than a T510. The T510 is the "budget" tablet in Samsung's line. You can get a T720 with 6gb.
I'm not developing on Android. The webserver I mentioned runs on Linux, and occasionally on Windows 10 when I'm debugging. That's how I know about the increased memory requirements, and I have good reason to extrapolate this to Android.
Before the lockdown, I spent most of my free time at home with the tablet, trying to relax away from work. Facebook, browsing. So the tasks are light, but at 69 I'm sensitive about ergonomics. Eyes, fingers, palms. The triangular tablet-pillow allows me to hold the tablet more easily. So instead of the 380 grams of my Tab S2, I could go with the slighly heavier current tablets from Samsung.
Yup. I use T-510 with 2GB RAM and 32 GB storage and expanded it with micro SD. Even though it is not silky smooth, it is not frustrating. Apps might take a second or two to load but I mostly read books or watch movies. So, that lag does not make a difference for me.

I just bought the 3gb/128gb model today from costco for $220, they had $80 off the original price. I can honestly say that so far it's been a smooth experience but I've only played with it for about 30 minutes. I got on xda to look for lineage os support, I already want to get it as vanilla as possible

Mind saying which Costco you got this? I'm northern CA it's $299. I've been waiting for it to go on sale again but so far it hasn't.

I'm in SoCal, found it at the Costco in Norwalk, CA but I also went online and the Costco website had the $80 off deal as well, its not live anymore though.
