I have not had any issues with GPS not working on FR008. Did you do a full Wipe Data, Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik cache before you flashed?
I wiped the cache, but not a wipe disk.
Turns out the GPS *DOES* work, it just takes much longer to get a connection now. Which is odd :S

That's how it's supposed to work in a standalone mode. Enable Network Localization if you want faster lock and check with GPS Status app that your phone is acquiring AGPS data.
My phone is still really bad at GPS. It was fine on the stock 2.1 but after updating to Fr008 it sucks. Takes so long to get a connection that I don't even bother with the GPS anymore.
What can i do to fix this?
you can update radio firmware.
In one of my updates of my customized version of FR008, I ended up rendering WiFi unusable. I could tap the WiFi button in settings or on the Android power control to my hearts content but I kept getting an error. The only way to resolve it was to wipe the system, wipe the caches and then install my customized FR008.
Changing the radio I don't believe will work to solve this because I believe the problem was not with the radio itself, but with one of the data files already on the internal memory getting corrupted after flashing the ROM. That said, take great care in flashing the updated radio. Ensure your battery is fully charged before trying it, because a failed flash of the radio could permanently brick the phone.

Guys... I fixed my wifi, 3g, and Gps on 1.7.0....
1. back up your rom with nandroid (for safety)
2. go into custom recovery (streakmod or clock work) and wipe your delvik cache (i used streakmod)
3. Wipe your entire cache partition (very important)
4. Wipe all user data and perform reset using custom recovery streakmod or clockwork (not the streak's for now)
5. Let the phone boot up completely and it will force close everything really bad... let it sit for a couple minutes
6. reboot phone into DELL's 4 option recovery menu and select option 1 factory reset
7. after it factory resets using dells recovery reset it will boot up normally
8. go through phone set up as usual and use the ADW launcher NOT the other launcher
9. Configure phone to your liking and voila!!! you should be good
10. If your WIFI doesn't work at this point boot into streakmod or clockwork and wipe your dalvik cache 1 last time and your wifi will come back without a doubt.
11. As god is my witness this worked for me. If you find that it worked for you don't hesitate to hit the thanks button. I hope you have the same luck as me. Thanks
**EDIT** Been running my rom for approx 10 hours now and still no problem.... Also, WHATEVER YOU DO... DON'T USE TITANIUM BACKUP TO RESTORE YOUR APPS... Your apps will just force close... if this happens simply uninstall and reinstall and it will be fixed.
what exactly does this fix? initially when i updated from 1.6, my wifi and 3g were connected but i couldnt browse any sights, i just simply rebooted and everything was fine again

A tremendous amount of people are having issues with wifi,gps,data, and notification bars after updating to 1.7.0
This seems to be because they (including me) went from 1.6.1 to 1.7.0 and did one of 2 things... they carried over the perfmod and that is causing problems, and or the update itself is having issues updating.
Doing the steps that I have laid out has fixed 3 dell streaks and I am now running on a 99% stable version of 1.7.0 with perfmod in place which gives me quadrant scores of 2500+
I went from 1.6.1 to 1.7.0 and had wifi/3g/gps issues. I used my own combination of above to fix plus added the following to my build.propc to boost wifi/3g performance:
ro.ril.hsxpa=2
ro.ril.gprsclass=32
ro.ril.hep=1
ro.ril.enable.dtm=1
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=8
ro.ril.enable.a53=1
ro.ril.enable.3g.prefix=1
ro.ril.hsupa.category=5
My phone worked great for a few days then rebooted on its own one evening and started cycle rebooting at the Dell logo. I was able to get into the streakmod util and reflash 1.7.1 and I was up and running again. This time my build.prop was missing the same entries, but performance seems ok.
by any chance, does this fix the fact that wifi doesnt work when i switch from data to wifi and data doesnt work when i switch from wifi to data? i have to reboot everytime i switch connections now

Yes. I had that same problem and it does fix the issue
Using 2 and 3 might be enough
Hi,
for me a full wipe this is no option. I have so many things customized and I hate to enter all my crendetials and other stuff again. But I don't think this method is needed for everyone. I just did the following:
1. back up your rom with nandroid (for safety)
2. go into custom recovery (streakmod or clock work) and wipe your delvik cache (i used streakmod)
That's all. After the boot my wifi, which made frequent problems worked again like a charm.
I also disagree all those "DON'T USE TITANIUM BACKUP TO RESTORE YOUR APPS" rumours on XDA. From my experience it is actually no problem to restore the APPs. And ONLY the apps, WITHOUT data! After that you can restore selected data for the apps where you customized to much to let it go. For my last full wipe this were only about 25 apps (from 250) where I also restored the data. And it is absolutely necessary for me to restore e.g. the wifi secrets, as I have many of them and I definitely do not want to enter them every time again, because of a full wipe. And the same applies to K-9, gmail, twitter, imo, yaaic ...
KarlchenK
So you edit the build.propc file to boost wifi?
brucealeg i see you edit the entries in the build.propc file in the streak to boost the wifi radio power if you did that does that mean the wifi antenna can be boost to better reception
if dj steve is here you can look in to this this would be awsome cuz that means that we will be able to boost the wifi just like it was possible on the iphone 3/ ipod touch 2 and 3 by just installing wififofum,
But this would be different
if you where to compare wifi range once boosted on ipod to dell streak dells range sucks . and i have an ipod i dont let go cuz of it but ipod is just so small
nobody out there knows?
no answer yet now i am worried
You will most likely get no feedback on your request and this version is old now. If there were or are adjustments they will be in the later ROMs.

I uber-jacked up my GPS. When I went to cm7 RC4 I lost the ability to get a gps lock. I've tried installing cm6.1, and the "liberated froyo" ROM. Neither return the gps functionality. It just never gets a lock.
Is there any hope for restoring a working gps? If so, what do I do?

Try the following:
1. Download cm7 & applicable gapps.
2. Wipe data, cache & dalvik AND format /system
3. Install cm7 & applicable gapps.
4. Boot into cm7.
4a. Test gps, download gps test from market and run it.
If gps still doesn't work:
5. Download cm6.
6. Reboot to clockwork.
7. Nandroid backup.
8. Wipe everything, flash cm6.
9. Boot into cm6.
9a. Test gps, download gps test from market and run it.
10. Reboot into clockwork.
11. Restore the nandroid you made in step 7 without wiping anything.
12. Boot into cm7 and test gps.
I tried the steps for cm7... gps got no sattelites... FYI when I did wipe Dalvik I noticed that nothing really happened. Is that normal? Everything else shows up as steps on the screen, but wiping Dalvik just immediatly went back to the menu.
i've still got clockworkmod 2.5.0.1 - is that the problem?

Thats normal.
wiping dalvik behavior is what you mean is normal I guess...
Which "gps test" are you speaking of. I tried two and neither gave me any signal... This is looking bad.
when I installed RC-4 and had issues, I tried following what is on post 535 here on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=956223&page=54
is that what caused the meltdown?

You can't just do the CM7 part, you must follow the steps for going back to CM6.
I understand. Somehow I miscommunicated. I followed steps 1-12 that you gave me, what I'm saying is that after step 4a I had no gps signal showing in the test program. then after step 9a, I still had no gps signal showing on the test.
I hope that was more specific.
BTW thanks for helping
So just to be clear, are you just not able to get a gps signal lock? Or is your gps radio not working at all? When you start up gps test or maps/navigation, is the gps icon showing up in the notification bar?
If the icon is there, but it just keeps flashing and wont lock then check the following:
1: make sure mobile data and/or wifi (connected) is turned on.
2: Then go to Menu>Settings>Locations & Security Settings.
3: Make sure Use Wireless Networks is checked.
4: Run GPS Status (market app)
First, yes the icon appears in the notification bar.
I tried the steps (several times trying gps status). The thing just shows no lat/long. I never get a lock in maps, or any other gps test.
at what point do I proclaim the gps is dead?
I'm calling it dead. Gonna do a factory restore to original Rom/condition. Then take it in as its still under warranty...

I would recommend going to #liberatedAria on irc.freenode.net and seeing if anyone has any idea what might be going on. Good luck.
gps revert worked for me.just flashed 35 still having gps issues.so are we doomed to flash a gpslib revert every time now?since this problem hasnt been listed on the bug tracker does that mean the devs dont consider it a problem?
after I went back to the factor default by following this thread:

Hi,
I am using hyperdroid ROM for a long time now with many versions. With some installations, I have issus with my mobile Data connection. When I enter my home, it connects correctly to my wifi but when I am leaving again and the phone looses my wifi connection, it usually doesnt reconnect for mobile data. I also cannot solve this problem by switching to airplanemode. The only possibility is, to restart the device - till I leave home next time...
With a few installations of Hyperdroid Rom, i havent had this issue at all but for now, it persists.
Do you have any clue und that?
Thanks,
cmoe

Sorry I don't understand what you are writing. The only thing I understand is that you don't wanna use ICS roms... Hyperdroid is a GB CM7 Rom... no ICS
Have you wiped data/cache before flashing?
Sent from my NexusHD2 using XDA
yes, i allway wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik
EDIT: But if i unfurtunately didnt this time... is there a way to fix it without a complete reinstall?
i think it's better to check with another rom version.
then check your problem.
Hm, Think I'll wait then till next version of ROM as after each install, I do my special personal tweakings (removing apps like launcher from system-partition and replacing with launcher and apps I need) and I don't have time at the moment to do so with a clean install =D
Hey guys,
First i want to say i did use the search tool to try and find my answer, but had no luck. Two days ago i updated to Miui 2.3.30 and since then i been having wifi problems and random restarts. If i turn wifi on it doesn't find anything any more and the phone crashes. After that it keeps restarting until i remove the battery.I tried previous miui builds but the same problem happened after using the phone for about 10 minutes. I also tried other roms that were not miui, on those i dont get the resarting problem, but wifi will keep turning off and on. Is there any fix for this? I love miui roms

I did a full wipe every time. By full wipe i mean : wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache.... I read in some threads that maybe is the kernel, but i have no idea about. Any help appreciated .
Kernal certainly could be the problem, dig through the development forum for that Rom and see what others are using as their Kernal. Try that and if it doesn't work provide us with more details
Alright, i looked around it and one of the users said he used DARKSIDE v12 kernel. I flashed it, but still have the problem. I also notice that if i turn airplane mode on none of the problems happen. It works perfectly on airplane mode. Also if i flash the rom and never try to turn wifi on it won't crash. If i try to turn wifi on the phone will keep crashing until i turn airplane mode on or reflash the rom. I am using a mytouch 4g with miui 2.3.30.
airplane mode is disabling everything you would have broken, so no problems would appear.
I'm running Darkside-v12-cm7+ from thederekjay. 2.6.34.14 and I'm not having any problems.
I was running some other kernel the other day and a bunch of things weren't working

Try to format system and data and then wipe delvic and them factory reset before flashing the rom. That is a true full wipe. You can't have issues if the rom doesn't format those partitions properly upon rom flash.
I got it to work !! Thank you guys for the help, i appreciate it. What i did was i clicked all the wipe options on recovery mode except battery and flashed an old miui i had. After it started i just left it there for like 3 minutes( didn't click anything) and restart it. This time i tried wifi and it worked. Turn it off and on a couple of times and it worked fine.

Hi All,
I just got a new used Samsung Galaxy S4 on Sprint and brought it over to Ting (way, way, way cheaper). I got everything working with the stock ROM, including GPS, but I wanted to install Cyanogenmod, so I rooted it, flashed TWRP 7.8, and flashed the latest Cyanogenmod (snapshot M12), with Gapps, and a zip file with the Ting data XML files to get 3G and LTE working.
Everything seemed to work great, but then while driving I noticed that the GPS just did not get a lock. After trying for an hour, it still had nothing. I installed GPS Status and saw that it had no satellites. Clearing the GPS cache and re-downloading data with that app did not solve the problem. I tried GPS Doctor without success and the GPS fix equally without success.
I rebooted, then factory reset, then erased everything and flashed the latest CM nightly, all with no success.
I found some similar problems online at these places:
http://myblog-online.co.uk/2013/12/the-continuing-saga-of-my-galaxy-s4-custom-roms/
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/98811-gps-not-working-23rd-nightly/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172670
These are all old and none gave me anything that useful. Is it a GPS radio issue? Is there anything I can do?
I also just found this page: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Known_Issues_page_for_d2lte, but it is for the S3, not sure what to make of it.
I made a nandroid backup of my stock rom, but then I copied it to my computer, and when I copied it back again it didn't work. TWRP failed to restore with the error "No partition selected for restore".
My plan now is to flash the stock rom with odin, confirm that GPS works there, and then try again, but this is becoming a huge time sink and I have a lot of other things to do.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this? I am pretty sure it isn't a hardware issue.

That's is pretty much what you have to do. Its go back to stock and get a lock there in maps. When you have a lock just go back to recovery and flash your custom ROM of choice. That is pretty much the only fix.

Thanks ROMANTiC KiD,
Good to know that I am heading down the right path before I spend a lot of time on this.
Should I not erase everything when I flash the custom ROM? I am pretty sure last time I used TWRP advanced erase to clear everything on the phone before installing. Should I just do a regular factory reset in TWRP to install CM in order to keep GPS functionality?
Thanks!

Yes sir you can factory reset in twrp just remember to back up your files first! And you should still retain GPS lock.

Thanks for the confirmation. I did exactly that and I can confirm that it did indeed work.
Thanks so much for the help.
Hi all,
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I am having this issue and the stock firmware flash isn't solving the issue. It is all very odd because it doesn't actually retain any kind of lock after flashing. I'm following instruction on here, but after locking gps on stock, then going to CM I cannot get a fix. It either had a massive radius on Maps, or it just locks to my home or work location.
Since trying much more I have managed to get the occasional satellite lock via GPS Locker, but even then as soon as I move from either my house or work, it can't find anything to lock onto and just defaults to a static location.
Is there anything you would recommend? I have 2 Samsung GS4's and they both exhibit the same problem. I have also tried this on an S4 Mini, but that retained lock just fine. I'm really confused as to what to actually try. If you could recommend anything I'd be very grateful.
Again, I'm sorry to res an old thread, but no one has been replying to the one I started for this issue :/
Your problem may be that there is some new issue with the newer firmware. I had success by first flashing the *old* firmware (you can download it from my dropbox here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o3f3ynyezyy4yw9/L720VPUFNAE_L720SPTFNAE_L720VPUFNAE_HOME.tar.md5?dl=0) and then upgrading to the second to last firmware update for the GS4: which gives you Android 5 but without fixing the MMS bug.
After that I flash TWRP with Odin, and then do a full erase in TWRP followed by flashing the latest CM. That series of steps works for me every time, although I found that large changes to my physical location (e.g. flying to England from California) cause it to break again. I actually had to sit in a cafe in an English airport with my laptop out flashing my phone back to stock just so that I could use Google maps to get to my mother's house. It was pretty ridiculous. Because of that and other issues, I now just use stock. I hate it, but I do it anyway. Good luck.
