[Q] phone on verizon GT - Galaxy Tab General

is there an apk to get phone working on verizon galaxy tab. i am overseas and not using verizon but other carrier got me hooked. they do have the option to use as phone but this tab doesnt have the apk for phone calling. is there a workaround?

You can use line2 from the market. You get a free 30 day trial but then its $10 for unl call and text.

Thx for the reply. What I meant is that is there any way to have dialer on cdma tab ala Europe gsm tabs.

Make calls with Sprint Galaxy Tab

The dialer is missing on the sprint version but I managed to get to it..kinda. I installed LauncherPro and HomeSmack. The dialer shows up but when I tap it, it opens Network Manager and gives the error "cannot make calls with the galaxy tab". Hopefully this is a clue that someone more experienced can use. Also there are some fishy apk's I found. If anyone wants a list, or actual apk files please message me.

How are you going to make calls (if at all you somehow get that working) when you don't have a voice calling plan attached to it? The ESN is in the database as a data only device, so i see no point. This is a CDMA Tab.
It's not like the GSM models where you swap the SIM with one from a phone that has a voice/data plan attached to it.
It's assigned a phone number, so it is voice capable. This IS possible to do... but I don't want to try anything crazy until we get Sprint's stock firmware .tar in case I need to wipe completely from a screw-up.
Does anyone know when this will be released? I need it bad!
even to get it to work via Google voice would be nice.
I have hopes that there is a way to make it work. It seems the phone stuff is there, just disabled.
Looks like a Odin package is being made for the Sprint Tab

Additionally, you CAN make emergency calls from the Sprint tab. I've done it
So the capability is there.
I'm also dying to make calls on the sprint tab...really hope someone can help us out.......

The point is not whether it is assigned a phone number (it's a CDMA device so it IS assigned an MDN on the network) or not but whether the account (in this case the Tab) can make and receive phone calls like under a normal plan.
Bump for the cause. I activated my Sprint Galaxy Tab in my country without problem but I still see the roaming icon and the legend "International". Is there a piece of sotware that informs the tablet that Im not using it in a Sprint network or inside EU?
Sorry but my knowledge of cellular networks is null.
i receive calls on spring galaxy tab
i got incoming calls on my sprint galaxy tab but i i dial a call the message comes up i did alot of changes to it trying to get it all working but i didnt realize that the incoming was working since i was only trying to make calls on it and last night someone called me and i was able to talk on it.
only incoming though
so now we know its for sure
with this its obvious that its possible to get outgoing since everything is all there i have my line on cricket and web works for a bit but it reverts back
i was messing with files of a galaxy s but they wont work anyone know how to
be able to install them on the tab i just copied them to my filesystem and they wont install
have you tried groove ip?
it has been working well for me
Hi, guys, what's groove ip?

How do you indicate your desire to place an emergency call? There's no dialer to even punch "911" into...
My clueless-noob side is surely showing, but this is something I'm very interested in, please forgive what's probably a silly question.
Sprint Galaxy Tab and GrooVe IP
I installed grooVe IP last night on my 7" Sprint Galaxy Tab. It was a little bit of a hassle because first you have to set up Google Voice. Then you need to download the Google Voice app and go through the setup. I rebooted my phone and was then able to get more setting adjustments on Google voice website on my desktop to set up my tablet. It seems that I can now make calls from my Tablet. I tried a few different numbers. 2 things I can't get to work is the bluetooth functionality (always comes out through tablet speakers even though "Bluetooth" is the only option selected) and being able to receive calls. I was reading on Google that they are currently working with Sprint to roll out selective call forwarding but that my number is not allowed at this time. Strange that it will let me make a call but not receive one. Anyone have a work around for this. I tried to set up my voicemail but I could never dial into my tablet to enter the activation code provided by Google. If I could get it to receive calls I would be ecstatic. I love being able to do a search on google for a business and when it shows the phone number, be able to call that person by touching the number and not having to do it from my regular phone. Especially when driving.

[Q] Sms with verizon number?

Hello, ive been searching but cant find a clear answer as to how to sms with tab 7.7 using my verizon number and sim i thougt h left this feature still in and only removed phone function? Am i missing something? I know theres sms apps but i wouod like to use my actual number.
Anyone? Some one pkease help i dont i its because my questions are stupid or not bit i seriously cant find a answer ive been searchin forever sites say it supports sms.
As far as i know, the application that allows you to send sms is called "Messaging"
And the one for call is "Phone".
But mine is an international unlock 3g/wifi version (non lte).. not sure if its the same thou.
Maybe you are looking for TextTab or TabletTalk. Both are in the market and will send/receive text from your tablet.

Its disabled.. Unless someone can hack it but i doubt that.. I dont see any developer for the Verizon 7.7
what i did is ported my current Verizon # to Google Voice which routes calls and text on the tablet to my new Verizon #.. so now my tablet is a full feature phone with unlimited fast LTE data
note: need to use Groove IP for calls... Its $4 but well worth it
Yeah i wanted to port my number but itll cancel my current contract and i have the unlimited data so i definately dont wanna do that. forwarding my verizon calls to my gv is great but i. Cant forward texts.. Thanks for the replies guys just gonna have to return it.

[Q] N4 on AT&T - possible to get visual voicemail?

Coming from an iPhone on AT&T, I'm looking for any solutions for visual voicemail on the N4. Does it only work on phones officially supported/sold by AT&T? Any solutions without redirecting my voicemail to another provider such as Google Voice?
I don't see at&t's visual voicemail app in the play store but you might be able to side load it just fine (if your on the LTE data plan that includes visual voicemail). Or, just go with Google voice. Why don't you want to use that? I've used it on many phones for a few years now and it works just fine. Never had an issue with it.
There's also apps like youmail, etc. but behave like Google voice AFAIK

+1 on the G Voice. I was in the same boat as you (iPhone 4 on AT&T) and switched to G Voice with the Nexus. Haven't looked back. Also, if you used Voice on iOS it's completely different and integrated tighter on Android.
Ah, there's an AT&T Visual Voicemail app... It didn't occur to me to check the play store first. And there's also an AT&T Messages app too that cannot be used at the same time as the AT&T VVM app. I'm not sure what plan exactly I'm on, when I called them I told them to provision my SIM for 4G/LTE (APN: phone) even though I know the N4 is not an LTE phone, but wanted to make sure LTE is available if I move the SIM to a different phone.
Based on the reviews I'm not sure I want to mess with either of these 2 apps
I'll try and live without VVM for a while and then consider using GV if I must have it.
Just use GVoice. The att VVM app doesn't work well on non-specifically supported devices. I have a vivid right now and even though the vivid is a supported device, the custom ROM I'm running doesn't like the VVM app. GVoice works great though and has so many options like setting different greetings for different groups/people.

It only makes sense that we are no longer raped with voice and sms plans in addition to data. Everything is 0s and 1s these days.

Cannot forward to Google Voice number for voicemail on Nexus 4

Are you prepaid? I've heard, at least from a friend on T-Mobile Monthly4G prepaid plans that they're unable to use the conditional call forwarding settings. The network denies the change.
Can somebody point me on a good tutorial for GVoice? Can get it to work... AT&T regular iPhone plan before..

There's also HulloMail, which I think is still free.

I ran into this. I had to go into google voice on the phone and disable it,?. Then the number you must call using your phone will go through. Sorry, can't remember exactly, but you must inter that mmi number before you have it set up on your phone...

Has anyone figured out a way to side load a working AT&T VVM .apk? Yes, I know gvoice is an option but I prefer to try to keep all vm's under AT&T.

I decided that I can live without VVM, I just do it the old school long press 1 now... At some point I think I will port my mobile number to GV and get it over with, which will also get me ready for the rumored Google cell service late next year.
The N4 is not officially supported by the AT&T VVM app, but it may or may not work. You'd have to find a recent apk from someone and just install it on your N4. Then you have to call AT&T as they have to enable the VVM feature for you. If you already put the correct N4 IEMI on your account they will probably not do it, they will say your unknown device is not supported. If they don't pay attention, they might enable the feature anyway. If you go through the pain, let us know what you found out.

Good news is that I have not added the N4's IMEI on the account, it still has my GS3 listed. I will give AT&T a call and have them add my IMEI and the VVM feature to my account and if all goes well, they will get it done. I saw a .apk floating around here a few months ago, not sure if that is still the current package or not but I'll report back and let you know of my experience.
I'd look for a very recent apk, the LG Optimus G is a supported device for VVM so chances are it may also work on the N4.

Upload the apk to the phone and then install the apk on the device. Once installed, reboot device. Once rebooted, open the ATT voicemail app so it can call home and configure itself. I'm using an international version of the motorola razr hd and ATT VVM app works just fine for me.
Just note, you won't be able to get the apk from google play. you'll need to search the interwebz for the apk.
One thing to note, if you're not using an AT&T branded phone, you do have to use workarounds for installing ATT VVM app.

T-Mobile Multi Line settings with Verizon ROM

Hi guys, I'm hoping that someone can help me out with something. I have a Verizon phone and a T-mobile phone with Digits. I want to use the S8 to have calls from both phones work. I know that if I use the T-mobile app I could use the multiline settings and add a digits number but I was wondering if it's possible to access them in the Verizon ROM at all?

Need some help with this one

So I got the AT&T Variant of this tablet, and it works fine. But recently I decided to implement Call & Text on Other Devices to receive and answer texts from my Note 10+. I got the Call & Text feature installed and activated on both devices, but that's where the fun starts.
I disabled anything that has to do with AT&T (Number Sync, etc) but it seems the dialer is hard-wired to that numbersync app and won't let me change the default. Now when I launch the app, it crashes right away. Tried disabling it and installing Samsung Phone from apkmirror, but the install always fails, as does Samsung Messages.
So is there a way to install these two things to get them working, or has AT&T basically screwed this tablet over in favor of their services?
Samsung site says this function is note currently available on ATT and Verizon phones. Kinda angry
That is true. I have the Verizon LTE variant and I can't call or text from my Tab S5e unless I use Verizon's Messages+ app.
