[Q] First Time ROM Flash - Stuck On Tattoo Boot Screen - Click General

Hi
Okay i am pretty much a complete noob at all of this.. so give us a fair chance.
Ive just attempted to install nFinityGB v0.6 on my HTC Tattoo - and failed, quite miserably.
I've followed the following tutorials:
Goldcard - http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
Rooting - http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/16/how-to-root-the-htc-tattoo/
Loading a rom - http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/30/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-the-htc-tattoo/
I downloaded, and moved the zip file across onto the SD card.
Turned off, Booted Recovery - made a back-up, wiped, reset and then installed flash.
Reboot > stuck on Tattoo screen.
Have tried re-install - no joy.
On the ROM's page it talks about a ClockworkMod - which i have no clue on, because the tutorial given; makes no sense to me; a noob.

Someone please help, im backing using my old Sony Ericsson C305...

You probably need to format system partition after doing wipe, and before flashing rom. Formatting system partition is not an option in AmonRa afaik, so you would need to install ClockworkMod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9192029&postcount=21
Once you have ClockworkMod installed, make a backup with it before flashing new rom, as I don't think backups from AmonRa can be used with it.

ok well ill try that

still got problems :/
ive installed ClockworkMod - latest one.
Wiped user data
Wiped partition data
Install .zip
Reboot
Once again hung on Tattoo screen.
Any ideas?

Mounts and storage -> format system?
First boot takes 3-4 minutes.

Phone wont boot any clockwork build help

Dont know if this is the correct forum to post but here it goes,
phone has MAGLDR 1.11
clockwork 1.1
originally flashed jdms 1.6 nand and was working perfectly
i tried to add the files from the updated clockwork 1.2 booted up clockwork as it normaly would, backed up my current system through through clockwork, i downloaded and put the updated version of jdms 1.7 beta and it would just bootloop, read that i needed a partition and i did it through clockwork, still bootlooped but it woped my sd card's contents with the partition, tried reformatting sd card added a new rom to start from scratch and it just satys at the htc logo or the android on rollerskates logo, tried putting the recovery image had back and it said it couldnt recognize md5 sum so it wouldnt do it. ive tried three bulds and all of them get stuck at the htc or cyanogen screen, i am doing all this from ubuntu, do i need to just start over and reflash through DAF? i dont have access to a windows machine so it will be a while, anybody have any suggestions? im phoneless at the moment, thanks in advance
Wipe cache after restore.
When bootloop, restart phone, start Clockwork mode - wipe cache.
Then restart phone.
Sent from my HD2 running Gingerbread
Tried that, didn't work still stuck on HTC quietly brilliant screen just flashed raidroid HD build
anyone has any advice?
Same Issue
I have the same issue of a bootloop... this seems to be the only place i could find with someone who is having a similar issue as i am.
Steps ive done:
Used Task29 w/radio 2.08.50.05 first.
Ive installed HSPL3
Ive also installed MAGLDR 1.13
Ive partitioned the SD to 13 gb FAT32 and 1 GB Ext3 --- both in primary
Ive flashed recovery 400
installed recovery files onto sd directly
I added the zipped CMYLXGOroms.stock.desire.HD.v1.1.5n.NAND.RMNET.NO-SQUASH-RAFPIGNA.1.7OC_CWM file directly to the SD card root.
then I install the CMYLXGOrom and it installs correctly, and then it boots up, and i see the android welcome screen for a second, and it starts its bootloop.
I've tried this with several differnt roms that are for the 1024 LEO but I get the same result each time.
Any help would be much appriciated!

Cyanogenmod 7 - Hanging at splash screen

I had an earlier version of cyanogenmod installed, I went into rom manager and pressed update (or something like that). It did the whole installation thing but now it's just hanging at the cyanogenmod splash screen.
What do?

Have you tried to boot into recovery ? (turning it on by pressing the power button and the - volume button)
Did you backup? Always, always backup.
If not try downloading the ROM and flashing that, don't wipe just yet, if that fails you will probably need to wipe and flash again.
ok so i did a recovery of the backup i did just before trying to install cyanogen 7
FFUUUUU.... now everything is pretty much lost! even the old cyanogen is gone. What can I do?!
Was your old backup from a pre 2.3 ROM?
^^ how can i tell?
sorry for being a noob
What was the ROM you backed up before flashing CM7?
the backup i did just before trying to install cyanogen 7

it was cyanogenmod 6.1.3
Ok, your problem now is that the file system changed from 2.2 (Froyo) to 2.3 (Gingerbread) and you will need to flash a new version of ClockworkMod Recovery to restore that backup.
Do you have ENG S-OFF? You will be able to flash it via fastboot, if not you will have to start again from CM7 and downgrade ClockworkMod Recovery from there, then restore your backup.
I flashed the latest ClockworkMod Recovery (3.0.0.6) - I think before I tried to install CM7.
Restoring the backup means almost everything is gone, apps, settings, etc (but not everything). Did I **** it up? Will I have to redo everything?
If I have to do that anyway I might as well use CM7, but installing that means the splash screen hangs (I had the same problem with CM6, I dont remember how I fixed it)
Your right, to flash CM7 you needed CWM 3.x.x.x
Restoring that backup 6.1.3 will take you back to pre-CM7 so yes everything will be gone.
Have you tried just flashing CM7 again?
ok, trying to install cm7 again...
Don't wipe just yet, if it still hangs after flashing again you will then have to wipe.
****, it's hanging at the CM7 splash screen again
Ok, you will need to perform a wipe.
In CWM you have "mounts & storage"
Format boot & system, then flash CM7 again, (btw which CM7 ROM are you flashing?)
I did that (through the recovery or w/e) and then it was hanging at the HTC logo....
I had to restore the backup once again and am back where I was before
What can I do?
btw it's CM 7.0.0-RC2
Ok sounds like a full wipe is needed.
Again in CWM "mounts and storage" format everything except scdard, then back out and go into "advanced" and wipe dalvik cache.
Flash CM7 again, it should work now.
can i flash CM7 through the recovery console? because if i wipe everything then obviously i cant boot back into it?
Don't worry you can't wipe recovery from within recovery, so after a full wipe it will still be available.
before I do that, how exactly do i install CM 7 from recovery console? I think it was downloaded to my SD card but I dont see a straight forward option in the recovery console

[FIX] Boot loops on eMMC dual boot

First and foremost,
Standard Disclaimer
By flashing this you should understand that I am not responsible for bricked devices. In order to flash this file, you would have already rooted your device, voiding the warranty. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and I take no blame or responsibility if you brick your device and/or your device catches fire.
I would like to start off saying that I used the eMMC dual boot option referenced here [eMMC]Updated Dual Boot Guide[CM 7.1+][Phiremod 7+][Stock 1.3] and ran into the problem where the main partition (CM7 in my case) was booting normally, however, the alternate partition (Stock 1.3 rooted) would continually boot loop. After research, I found out that it was boot looping due to the incorrect versions of Adobe Flash and Air being installed. They were also installed to /system instead of /data.
I found two excellent guides located here and here that helped diagnose the problem. Unfortunately, these only helped with the primary partition.
In order to fix the boot looping of the alternate partition, I modified the updater-script provided by jaromnelson to reflect the alternate partition.
What this file does is removes the incorrect Adobe Air and Adobe Flash from /system folder on the alternate partition and installs the correct Adobe Air and Adobe Flash to /data folder. DO NOT INSTALL THIS FILE IF YOU ARE NOT RUNNING eMMC DUAL BOOT by Taosaur. If you continue to boot loop after you install, you are not boot looping because of Adobe Air and/or Flash.
To Install:
Download the file located here
Put the file onto your SD Card
Boot into CWM recovery
To be on the safe side, Wipe Cache and Dalvik (not sure if this helps but I do it anyway).
Code:
CWM > Wipe Cache Partition
CWM > Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache
Install the attached ZIP through CWM.
Reboot into your alternate partition and enjoy.
I am by no means a developer, just a guy that does a lot of research.
Full credit goes to:
Taosaur for creating the eMMC dual boot guide
jaromrnelson for creating the guide to fixing the boot looping
GMPOWER for the initial ZIP
Do you happen to still have this file, file seems to not exist.
I'm having the same issues you were
You can always upload it here as an attachment
Wow. I can't believe this may actually help someone. All this time, I thought I would have been the only one to encounter this problem. Unfortunately it would not let me attach the file to the post. Anyhow, here is an updated link. I'll update the OP too.

Mikey, after looking, it appears that the original referenced thread has been updated to a new method of installing dual boot to emmc. When I get home I will check to make sure that the new version uses the same boot partitions. So for now (until I can check) this zip is only good for the old method.
edit: I looks like the new method uses the same boot partitions (primary system: 0p5 and primary data: 0p6 --- secondary system: 0p9 and secondary data: 0p10) as the old method. So, if you are using the new method and experiencing the same boot loops as before, it should be safe. In reality, I'm not even sure if the Adobe problems exist anymore with the new method. As stated in the OP though, I'm not responsible for bricked devices.
To be honest, my wife has been reading on the nook so much lately, she hasn't let me mess around with it. As soon as she finishes up this book that she's on now, I plan on updating to the newest stock and ICS.

Always boots to CWM
My problem is a little different, but I'm hoping you can direct me where to go. I've been running the dual boot for about a week and it worked great. Stock on Alt and CM7 Kang on Primary. Today I backed up and then installed a theme that created a boot loop. So I tried to restore from the back up... no good. It boots up the little green Cyanogenmod, says loading, then straight to CWM. Then I tried to format the system, data, cache, and Dalvik, then re-install CM7...same, straight to CWM. I tried from the beginning, repartitioning and installing Stock with CWM... now Read Forever comes up and then to CWM. Suggestions Please.

[Q] **** Solved **** Cannot install Nand Roms....

:victory:****** Solved *******
Hi, thank you for all of your help and assistance.
It was all down to selecting the correct partitions (and me getting over enthusiastic in flashing roms and not reading FULLY on how and what partitions are required)
I have used HD2 Nand toolkit, and partitioned MAGLDR, then partitioned SD card within Clockworkmod.
Thank you all again for pointing me in the right direction...
Good Evening All,
I am sorry if this has been covered. I have searched the forums but cannot find an answer.
I have read all the FAQ and How-to's.
I am not an exact newbie, I have owned a HD2 before (about 2 years ago) and could install all sorts of different roms (including NAND)
I have Installed my Radio 2.15.50.14
I have installed HARD SPL 2.08
I have Installed MAGdlr 1.13
I ahve installed clockwork mod recovery 1.3 with 400M
Copied rom to root of SD Nexus HD2 jellybean v1.2 [dataonext]
and I have installed Nexus HD2 jellybean v1.2 [dataonext]
this installed fine,
I then decided to try another,
I downloaded QSEA_JB-MUSIC EDITION_V1 and placed on root of SD,
I booted into Magldr, then into clockwork mod
from here i wipe data, and factory reset,
wipe cache partition
and wiped delvic cache.
Then i install zip from sd card QSEA_JB-MUSIC EDITION_V1
when this is done,
It asks me to reboot,
Then it stays on the boot screen, and the rom does not load.....
I can restore the back up from the original rom install. but whatever rom I install (from Nand rom downloads) none of them install...
Please help...
Matt

1-Why? Use the HD2 NAND Toolkit to partition your system according to the developer.
2- Never reboot directly from the "reboot now" option of amarullz's installer. Instead, uncheck the "reboot now" option, click finish and reboot manually from CWM.
(The reboot option somehow makes your rom not boot, at least that happens to me every time)

Thanks,
I will give it a go!
Have already downloaded toolkit, and just watching the video on how to use...
Matt:fingers-crossed:
So, do I just use Magldr to partition and don't install CWM?
I tried to re-partition with CWM, but lost magldr.....
What am I doing wrong?
Still cannot install NAND rom.
Going to do Task 29 again, where from there??
Thanks for your help and patience...
try the links below, it might help

I don't use magldr, so I am not sure.
But I think you have to "MAGLDR recovery update" first, and then after it finishes you have to "magdlr repartition". Im not sure though.
How do I just install clockwork mod? Without using Magldr?
If I Task29 first,
What's my next step.....?
After Task29 (don't do task29 again) you have to do the following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25781675#post25781675 until you see the "recovery" .. from there, dont continue to flashing wp7, just put your rom on your sd and flash it from recovery. (don't forget to thank the the one who made the thread/guide)
Don't forget to NOT use 300mb, but use the one written on your rom's thread.

You can't have CWM without MAGLDR. If you've flashed CWM you shouldn't have lost MAGLDR at all, so I don't know what you did wrong. Task 29s are also almost always useless and unnecessary, if a guide says 'task 29' as the first step then usually you can just skip that part. I find that the best guide is the one in my sig, try it out.
