Guys this is pretty similar to a previous post with a similar problem, i'm not the same guy though . I sold this phone unlocked to a guy overseas (I'm in the US). He got it, said it wouldn't work on his network and sent it back to me and now it no longer reads my Sim, AND the wifi is on error, he did some weird stuff i guess...
I've read through a bunch of stuff but i really haven't figured out how to do this, does anyone have some advice? I'm mildly techy, I've rooted some phones and flashed some roms in my day, I'd even be willing to send this phone to someone that thinks they can do it, I'd pay you to do it if it looks like its gonna be too gnarly for me to figure out.
Here is what is on the main screen when i power while holding Vol-Down...

Is it rooted? You still have s-on so I assume you're not but if you are then I would just flash the OEM rom image back onto the phone to give it a fresh start. If you're not rooted then I don't know what he could have messed up on the SW side of things. Hardware is another story though....
Anyway, root it and flash the stock rom image (in a sticky under the DEV section I think). You should be fine after that. If it still won't recognize it then I'd say the hardware is trashed and there's nothing that can be done.

the same thing happend to me, please i want my phone back any suggestions.
Go to fastboot

Download a rom on this forum and flash it
If it still doesn't fix your sim problem unroot from there and return to T-Mobile

Hi,
I am not all that new to rooting / flashing i've had a lot of experience but i think i've made a school boy error.
I rooted a HTC Magic last night and added the 1.5 Hero Rom.
this morning i looked for a later ROM and i found one from the unlockr.
the issue with this was that it required a radio flash. My 32B Magic is now flashed to 32A and i cannot even get into recovery mode OR re-flash the radio.img i had originally through fastboot.
Upon boot the Magic just comes up with the Mytouch 3G spash screen and nothing else.
Details:
Rooted using gold card method, fine.
Hero rom installed: fine.
Updating the ROM however, the radio was flashed to 32A and now i cannot get back into recovery mode.
Is there anything i can do? has anyone seen this before? I really don't want to keep using the motorola dext, sorting this magic out will make me happy.
Please help.
thanks.
you cant go in fastboot mode???
[edit]No, I can get to fastboot, i can get the opening my touch splash up but nothing is working from there. i've tried the arab rom but i can't get my pc to recognize. there has to be a way to flash this back...
[edit] update - Attempted to flash stock 32B Radio to get rid of the 32A that i think's causing the issue - fastboot flash radio.img... Sends radio OK but hangs on Writing radio, I get a black screen on the device. didn't work.
I don't want to ruin the mood any more than it is now, but I did practically the same thing; flashed 32B radio onto 32A Magic, and it was unrepairable in my country. Sold it for parts a few weeks later and got another one.
No fastboot, no boot at all, nothing. All that I was able to get was the blue led mode (trackball + power), and the only repair method was JTAG, which wasn't available to me.
That sucks.
From what I can gather this very well might be dead but everything I can find tells me as long as i can get into fastboot there must be something i can do.
At the moment I can use fastboot and HBOOT but i'm unable to get to a recovery or flash a stock radio.
so far i've tried every recovery/radio i can get my hands on. Hope i'm missing something and somebody is able to help.
flashing 32B to 32A does make me feel a bit spastic to be honest. it's a mistake I can never repeat with anything!

Try posting your thread again in the correct section.
EDIT: Tis the season and junk. I was about to move this to the TRASH but I took pity on you. I moved your thread to the correct section but the next new post that you create in the Development section that isn't related to development will be trashed. Final warning.
Appreciated, My bad. It's been a long and overly tiring day.

Hi,
I recommend that you download this switcher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794450&highlight=eyegor). Only to use the files (HBOOT, RADIO and REVOVERY), again ONLY because of the files.
After download reboot on fastboot mode and flash: HBOOT, RADIO and RECOVERY, using this sequence.
Good luck,
I'm not sure if this will deal with 32B Magic that's been flashed to 32A but i'll give it a shot. thanks.
Unfortunately there was no luck with that or the Arabic RRU, The GUI Switcher method to flash the radio failed, now phone won't even turn on.
If it wasn't a brick before, it sure as hell is now. i'll chalk this one up as a mistake i think and just be more careful in future.
I rooted my Mytouch 3G 1.2 and have routinely upgraded the CM roms as they were released with no problems. I went to unroot the thing so i could sell it on ebay, but ran into problems. Currently it will load into Hboot, but will hang while unzipping system files. It appears to go into Fastboot, but I can't get a computer (fastboot commander or command prompt) to communicate with it. It shows fastboot and changes to Fastboot USB when connected to a computer, but that's all I get. I've tried various drivers and sappimg files. I have read that if it shows any signs of life then it can be saved. I have searched for hours trying to find solutions but haven't made any progress. Current Fastboot screen shows Sapphire RE Unknown 32A Eng S-Off H

You need to get AndroidSDK installed. Is the computer detecting the phone? Does anything for the phone show up in Control Panel?
I have AndroidSDK installed on my computer, but adb devices doesn't list anything.

He flashed the engineering SPL used for the goldcard method and didn't do anything after. Hopefully he'll still be able to get fastboot working so we can get him straightened out.

That sounds about right Kevin and DonJuan. I've got a new baby and my attention to detail and directions isn't what it should be right now
I found that part of the problem I was having was with my wretched Vista laptop and a driver issue. When working on my XP desktop I can see the device in fastboot devices. I do have the headphone jack and realized that I do have the wrong radio. I think I'm sort of lost as to where my phone exists right now in the process of unrooting.
Thank you both for your fast replies.
Use the "Old school" rooting guide in my signature starting at Step #4. That will put you back on CM. I would leave it rooted to sell it unless you've got a buyer requesting for it to be stock as you may pull more interest. If your dead set on going back stock, you should be able to stop at Step #9 in the guide, turn the phone off, download this file, rename it to "sappimg.zip", put it on the root of your SD card, with it in the phone, turn it on holding volume down+power, and then follow the instructions on screen.
Awesome, I'm in Amon-Ra's recovery. Can I use it to restore a clockworkmod backup or are the two recovery methods incompatible? I guess part of my question should be whether my phone is technically rooted or unrooted at this point. Could I load a recovery from step nine of your guide and be done with it?
I tried using the stock img that you linked to (because I see stock MyTouch phones on eBay selling more often than rooted ones) but it gave me the Main version is older" message which is what got me started down this road in the first place. At this point, if I could get back to my backed up CM6.1 I would call it good.
P.S. I really appreciate your time and will donate.
If I'm not mistaken both recoveries use the nandroid backup. Just try restoring and see if it'll take. If not then you may just end up having to re-flash it. So what you were actually trying to do is flash the engineering SPL to bypass the version check. You flashed an entire sappimg which changes pretty much everything. Instead you should have used the engineering ZIP that's floating around which you would have flashed from recovery and it would've only changed the SPL.
I got everything back to where I started with your guidance. I guess you were right DonJuan, my CM6.1 MyTouch sold within 30 minutes on ebay for $125. Thanks again.
I know this question has been asked because I have searched through these forums and most of google. I cannot find a straight answer on how to unbrick this phone. I will explain how it happened so maybe somebody will know what to do.
So I rooted the phone fine and downloaded rom manager and flashed clockwork mod recovery. I made a image back up and then proceeded to flash a custom overclock kernel. When the phone rebooted, it just went to the mytouch 3g screen and then sits at a black screen and never loads.
I am able to get into fastboot, but it is COMPLETELY STOCK fastboot. No special spl or whatever. I have tried using fastboot commands on the computer to flash recoveries but still no luck. Any command always ends up with Failed: remote not allowed.
I swear, I have spent the past 4 hours looking for a solution and I have tried everything I've seen on this site and nothing works. I'm hoping someone knows something that I haven't found yet.
My question is, how do I get the stock fastboot to let me flash??
Here is the fastboot menu info..

Thank you sir. Even though I don't know exactly what that is, I will research and figure it out. If I have any issues, I'll be back.
Ok, so for anyone who might find themselves in the same predicament that I was in, here is how to get out..

basically create a gold card, use the appropriate sappimg.img and you will have an unlocked bootloader to flash everything back.

so is there any stock or newer than 26.13.04.19_M, so i can flash it to stock, or how to downgrade, if there is no root or temp and it doesn't boot, or i have to use jtag?
thank you very much indeed
No root, doesn't boot to the point where you can connect through ADB and temp-root (or ADB turned off), stock, S-ON and on latest OS build already - I'm afraid you have nothing to do.
hi
thank you very much indeed for your attention
i believe that i can conect it as adb if i put it in hboot, but how to temp root if i read, that the version is not rootable only after downgrade, maybe edit to downgrade?
hopefully, im trying to help a friend with this phone, and i dont want to try jtag only as the last option
ADB only works in the OS. Since you can't boot the OS even to initial stages, ADB won't work.
You can connect fastboot in bootloader, not ADB. But fastboot won't allow you anything before you're S-OFF and have engineering bootloader flashed. There is no operation to S-OFF the phone from bootloader, you need OS for that. And again, you don't have OS - you can't boot.
Which leaves you with nothing to do.
well
so it seems that either or i get the newest ruu or zip, with the same or newer rom, or the real chance, is that i should use jtag to fix it, i have 2 samsung ace, 1 hd2, and maybe after those ill try to solder this one to fix the boot, i was hopping to avoid this but not a chance, i have the tools and some experience, so lets do it
but thank you very much indeed for your time and help
I download a file from another site since I'm having the same exact problem. I was using darkside rom perfectly and i left my phone changing the screen that was broken. Then when i pick up my phone today i saw the same thing that you post. As I said, i download a PD15IMG gingerbread and ask me if i want to update and i say yes....but i dont know how long it will take since im doing that right now....and i think it just froze lol....

Hey xda crew,
I am pretty sure my Desire Z is up sh*t creek now without a hope. As such I am here with my begging on... Help please!!
Last night I went through the app library and manually updated about 7 apps simultaneously. At some point the phone hung, and wouldn't respond. I pulled the battery and booted it back up, and it simply hung again as soon as it connected to wifi. It ran fine without a data connection however.
So this went on and on. I booted, connected to wifi and tried to kill each download asap before it hung again (can't access the market to kill the d/l w/o connection!). Inevitably it would hang each time and then i'd repeat. Finally though it simply got stuck on the HTC boot screen and never went any further.
I've tried everything googleable so far, but unfortunately no love. Here are my specs:
Desire Z, stock standard, no modding, ever.

I have tried the following to recover the phone:
Leave it loading on HTC screen (30+ mins): Never loads
Factory reset in HBOOT: Hangs
Recovery in HBOOT: Goes to HTC screen, then the green recovery icon, and then blacks out. As soon as the screen goes black it vibrates fiercely 7 times in anger and then dies.
Fastboot w/ RUU_Vision_Gingerbread_S_hTC_Asia_TW_2.42.709.10_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_201045_signed.exe: RUU sees phone but cannot reboot into bootloader, times out.
Flash manually using PC10IMG.zip, (rom.zip) from the RUU above: Initially didn't work due to CID invalid warning in HBOOT, however have made a gold card manually on PC and gotten past that warning. The ROM reads and verifies fully in HBOOT but upon verification just goes back to HBOOT screen without the option to flash.
With the intent to wipe everything: Flash the HBOOT with an engineering version from here: virtuousrom.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-users-migrating-to-desirez.html: As per the RUU Rom, HBOOT reads and verifies successfully but never gives the option to flash.
Erase cache from fastboot command line: Hangs
Beyond that I don't know what else to try. I can't use adb as I cannot boot and don't have any custom recovery roms installed that will allow it. Likewise I can't flash with fastboot due to S-ON.
So because warranty ended a month ago, it goes in the bin tomorrow unless someone has an alternative Even if it is a highly dangerous method, I don't really care, it's good as dead anyway...
Interestingly enough it seems there are a few people with the same issue, all posted within about a week of each other. Everyone was doing the same thing... updating a bunch of apps!
Thanks in advance
When I rooted mine, I simply followed the instructions provided over at CyanogenMod ( http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/TMobile_G2:_Firmware_Downgrade_(Gingerbread) ) doing the firmware downgrade and then the rooting exploit, from there I actually upgraded the radio (thread in my signature) and then got the EliteMod rom.

Just not entirely sure how you're going to go bout the fr3vo method without least a stock rom to exploit into.
well jtag... not what you wanted to hear I'm sure
not trying to add insult to injury but next phone make sure you root it right away, chances are this all could have been fixed with the right permissions, short of a hardware failure of course

Thanks for taking the time to help out mate.
As it stands, there is no way to use adb so I can't downgrade as per the directions in the link.
I have since tried several other newer and older roms as well, still the same thing, it unpacks them and verifies and then does nothing.
Quite sure now it is dead, so I have just bought a new one off ebay.
Poor old thing, I did enjoy that phone!

Yes, you are absolutely right... I was thinking the same thing. Thew new one will be rooted the minute it arrives. The good news i suppose is that desire z's are so cheap now that they are discontinued.
I honestly love the functionality, speed etc.. no need to upgrade whatsoever.
Your bootloader is stock and you are S-On why not just use your warranty ?
