Can i root this Magic?

Hi there, o bought my HTC Magic today and this is my version:
Shapphire PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.76.0009 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.08.29

Can i root this phone?? If so , how can i do that?

Nope, that phone can't be rooted.

Not even with a downgrade?

That is how you root, by downgrading. But no, no one has been able to do so, gold card or whatever method.
I think the developers have moved to newer and shinier phones.
You can follow developments by searching this forum or the developers' forum.

I have a similar question, I just got the new MyTouch 1.2 with T-mobile (US) and was wondering if it has been rooted yet and if so, what process should I use.

Note the 'rooted' link in my signature, I rooted my Fender last night. That's currently the only rom I know of thus far that works.

Is upgraded to hero rom rooted??

when i bought this phone,the dealer upgraded it to hero rom(sense ui) does this mean my magic is rooted??

You can easily tell if you are rooted by installing a terminal app such as ConnectBot , going in local and typing 'su', if it says "permission denied" then you are not rooted. It requires more than just upgrading the rom to be rooted.

This is the SPL and Radio that came with the Asian Sense for Magic released back in November (3.03). All he did was installing the HTC update (RUU) and you don't have Root access, don't bother trying.
Unfortunately you now have one of the "perfected" SPLs but I think they've found a solution for this one. Read this thread if you want to give it a try.

Problem with rooting
Hi, Im a newbie in android and I ve tried to root my phone using the one-click-rooting method but it does not seem to work. It kept on stating backup failed. I tried to install a new ROM straight away but it failed too.
My HTC Magic is the Malaysian version and it came with no Android Market.
I want a new ROM with the Android Market so badly.
These are my phone details.

What's the best way to root my magic?

I have one of the older mytouch 3g phones and need to root it...what is the best route to take without bricking my phone?

I am a complete noob, so pls suggest me a good guide to install Custom Roms

Search "unroot mytouch 1.2" and go the the thread titled "finally a way to unroot". The file you need is in he first post. You will however lose you Fender splash image and the guitar app going this route. If you want the original Fender back its impossible, however there is a custom ROM that is pretty close.
