I've been looking for a cross platform web-based mp3 player, but I couldn't find an android compatible solution without flash... thus leaving users below froyo out of the equation.
These are the alternatives I encountered, but they don't provide a flash-less solution for android:
JPlayer
SoundManager2
Accessible Audio Player
MediaElement.JS
Bonus points for playlist support!
p.s. Pardon me, I can't provide outside links as this is one of my first posts.

Hi All
Hope you can help me - few quick questions about music & video on Wizard:
- what software can you recommend to listen to the music?
Please add info about price, version and supported formats of the software.
- what software can you recommend to watch the movies / clips?
As above...
- what is recommended and best format to store and to listen the music on Wizard? (file format, sample rate etc)
- what is recommended and best format to store and to watch the video / clips in full screen mode? (file format, resolution etc)
- what PC (workstation) software do you use to convert audio / video to the desirable formats?
- any advice about: how to effectively organise and store MM files or any feedback about best software to manage and format the memory card?
I know I can find almost all of the answers on the forum but they are in separate topics and your opinions are hard to compare, analyse and organise...
I think it could be interesting not only for me.
Thanks in advance
The best software for viewing video is TCPMP.
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about
By the way - it is free.
I agree, TCMP is a safe bet, it can play about anything and it's free. As for encoding, I guess PocketDivXEncoder (http://divx.ppccool.com) is as good as it gets (also free...) But you can also use VirtualDub or windows media encoder. The good thing about PocketDivXEncoder is that it's very user friendly and the output is really optimized for the ppc
Thanks!
Thanks Guys!
TCPMP (with few extra codecs) is really great!
I can say exactly the same about PocketDivXEncoder - really handy and user friendly, re/scalling - cutting only choosen area from the source - recoding is working perfect! You'd understand my enthusiasm if I tell you that I used to use few command-line tools for WinXP/Linux... It was a little bit faster but simply nightmare
Any other comment or advice?
Is anybody there?
Cheers

Hi to all.
Little retrospection:
I am member for 3 years and have device: HTC TYTN,Samsung i780, HTC Touch Pro and I like forum..so many custom ROM, aplication and people help when you have problems-questions.
For 8 months I've been away form this forum. In december last year I buy Nokia N900 and I like it so much (I don't want to compare phones, platforms, software....etc)
Now I decide to jummp in new platform after Windows mobile and Maemo5.
I Like Android and Galaxy S(super fast and full with potentiality)
In home i have Dreambox TV reciever and combination with Home computer and software - Knots2 (http://wiki.maemo.org/Knots2)
With this software(server) I can change program on Dreambox reciver, stream TV, share(stream) pictures and video from computer and most important i can make different streaming profile depending of the internet speed( 3G or when I use WIFI)
In Nokia N900 there is two ways of operating:
1. From web browser
2. Application(someone make this beautiful application)
In Galaxy S I still can use web browser to control server(knot2).
The problem is:
Dreambox and Knots2 are on VLC fondation and I can't make VLC stream over RTSP protocol.
Can someone advise me, Android video player with HTTP capability.
If you can help me to solve this problem, Galaxy S will completely replace N900 in the way I use phone ;-)
Thanks in advance.
ps. This method can use to wathch from another computer too.
Moderator, i don't know if it's legal to post link to another forum.
Hi im looking for the same player like vlc on my galaxy S too!
But can you tell me wich web browser you use for streaming videos from your dreambox?
Thanks

You could try DreamStreamoid!
It's available in the market.

does anyone know of any apps/plugins which allow me to stream divx/xvid/mkv files from a media server? the built in video player finds the files but wont play the codec's. either a dedicated app or if possible a codec pack would do the trick.
cheers.
This is not a spesific question for DHD, but for android, try general apps session for this kind of questions.

my bad! if theres a mod out there who wants to nuke this thread then go ahead. i've reposted this on the other board..
Potential buyer but there is a problem.
It seems that there is absolutely no way to stream a url radio stream to windows phone 7.
Is this correct? Here are the urls, could someone try & let me know if it works?
URL 1: http://tvradio.ert.gr/radio/liveradio/deytero.asp
URL 2: http://wwk.kathimerini.gr/radio/listen.asx
I've been looking for an answer but I can't find it anywhere (including phone 7 development). Maybe I'm missing something...
Thank you,

To the best of my knowledge, with IE unable to support plug-ins it's unable to play any kind of media. You need something designed to stream audio, like "IHeartRadio". Yes, it sucks, this is the first phone I've owned in years that couldn't play Sirius streams somehow or another and it's reason #4 my Focus is sitting in a desk drawer with no sim waiting to mature or die entirely.
For those who seek it, true airplay compatibility would be a simple, implemented service throughout the device using it's stock media players.
When I play a video I transfer onto my device, there is a share button on the top right. When I click see all, I noticed that Evernote and a few other downloaded apps are in the menu. Also true of youtube videos, which can be shared to a number of applications.
My question may be obvious now, but is there a way for an app to run in the background and enable a list of airplay devices from that menu?
Or maybe a simpler solution would be Doubletwist player (or another airplay capable player) to be one of those share sources, being a quick shortcut. I just hate having a bunch of players for different scenarios. I would love that process to be a bit more tied together.
Just stirring the pot.
