Hey Everyone, I thought I'd share how I got 2.2 working on DL05 Fascinate.
I had voodoo5 installed, running cwred
1.) You need to download the rom, and the new CWR
2.) Disable Voodoo5 in Red CW and then flash the new CW GREEN, after you do that reboot your phone, let it disable voodoo it will take time (5 min) on my side.
Soon as it boots up to the fascinate, pull the battery, and reboot into the new CW GREEN.
4.) Flash new Rom, and then wipre date and cache! and done! It takes awhile to boot, I thought mine froze on the Verizon screen for like 4 min.
I have flash, and HID!
Please Do not hold me responsiblity if you brick your phone!
This is just personal experience if you have any questions please let me know, I hope i've helped you!
They've added some stuff, which of course we all wanted froyo. But they have a new app called media hub, for movies, tv shoes, and such. Also you can turn on and off auto rotation, and your mobile data from the drop shade! also you can now sync with yahoo, and hotmail. all share and has google search as your auto, no more bing!
Thanks! There was something about CWR not working on this build, is that still the case? And I heard (from a file apparently posted by Adrynalyne) that SMS and MMS don't work, is there anything else that's not working? Really tempted to flash for the HID so I can use my mini bluetooth keyboard. I don't use SMS anyway (only Google Voice).
Edit: Oh, kaos said in that thread that this isn't the ROM that was on IRC. Cool!
Also, the new dropdown thingies sound awesome, I've been wanting those two forever. And wow, no bing, really? That's really tempting then.
Edit 2: Where'd you get the new CWR?
There is a new CW, floating around somewhere SMS and MMS work great, Also found out you can change your font from the settings menu!
I had a buddy give me the link, hold on

Is that specifically for voodoo or nonvoodoo kernels, and is it flashed with odin or straight through current clockwork?

So if your just running a regular rom, flash through GREEN Clock work, wipe date and cache, and your ready to rock n roll sir!
I'm running blackhole 3 with a nonvoodoo kernel. I'm using standard CW recovery, I don't know much about these green/red variants.

Download the new Clock Work above just in case, flash it. reboot your phone back into clockwork, install foyo, then do a data and cache, RED was only for voodoo
Ok thanks, I'm not interested in using voodoo
Yeah, so it should be a easy process for you
If you aren't running voodoo, just boot into whichever CWM you are using and flash the rom.
I was running VooDoo, so I did the following:
Boot to Red CWM
Disable lagfix
Install Green CWM through Odin
Boot to Green CWM, wipe, flash DL30_leak.zip
I just flash CWM Green with the new zip file. easier to do it that way.
Ugh my phone is unable to mount as mass storage and its driving me nuts... Just says its a cd drive despite multiple reboots. Anyone know of a fix yet?
Edit: Hmm made it ask every time I connect and that actually worked for mounting so if anyone has this problem, try that.
Turn the USB into DEBUG Mode, should get you rocking

Should I flash this if I am on a non-voodoo kernel? And if so, how do I do it? Just flash via CWM and it updates it?
Im stil running dj05 deodexed rom and koushs cwr. Can i flash the dl30.zip using my current recovery or what is the easiest way to get this running. At work so i can't get to odin if i have an issue. Appreciate any helpful responses!

Ok, so I have done some reading and I think I want to make the switch to voodoo. Before I do I want to get some questions figured out, really more or less I just want to confirm with myself that I have the process down.
1. Installing a voodoo kernel (for the first time) is no different than installing a nonvoodoo kernel correct? Backup, boot into CWM and flash using the install .zip from SD card?
2. Once I'm on voodoo, I can flash any voodoo kernel over the other but if I want to flash a nonvoodoo kernel I need to create a FILE in the SD/voodoo folder called disable_lagfix?
3. Once I'm on voodoo if I want to create a nandroid using Rom Manager do I need to disable voodoo?
4. When would it be necessary to TOTALLY remove voodoo?
Thanks!
1. In a word, yes. Doing so will take longer than flashing a non-Voodoo kernel, as it will take some time to do the filesystem conversion for the lagfix. There will be a robotic female voice that will periodically announce progress updates, along with ETAs to completion. Please be patient and DO NOT pull your battery while this is occurring, otherwise you will be getting very familiar with ODIN very soon.
2. Yes, to install a non-voodoo kernel, you have to disable the Voodoo lagfix first. Creating that file is one way to do it, but preferably you would boot into the red CWM (via three finger salute) and select the menu option to disable the lagfix. The red CWM is installed on your phone along with any Voodoo kernel, and should always be used over green CWM from Rom Manager while Voodoo is enabled. If you ever boot into green, which loads from the update.zip file on your sdcard, go to Advanced and Reboot to Recovery to reboot into the proper red CWM.
3. See answer to number 2. Use red CWM for this, as green CWM can't read the ext4 filesystem and will not work properly. As long as you use red CWM, no disabling is necessary for nandroid backups.
4. Only time I know of that you would want to is if you decide you want to revert back to the stock ROM, or a non-voodoo kernel. Other than that, it would be best to leave it enabled, due to the benefits it offers.
As far as what kernel to use, right now I would recommend Adrynalyne's Voodoo kernels, dated 1/18 or later, as they have the DL09 CD-ROM mounting bug fixed. I myself am running the 1/18 undervolted Voodoo kernel. Also, just FYI, I would personally recommend switching to a custom ROM as well. I enabled Voodoo on a stock DL09 ROM, and then wiped and installed the DL09 Super Clean 0.4 ROM from Adrynalyne (I backed up personal apps with Titanium Backup first, and restored on the new ROM). The performance boost is absolutely phenomenal over the stock experience with this configuration. There's almost no lag on anything anymore. I still see a slight amount of lag when installing apps, but it's hardly anything compared to stock (installing apps on the stock ROM made the phone grind to a screeching halt).
Thank you very much for the help! I've been running black hole 3.0 for a long time now, just wanted to finally make the move to voodoo since it seems to be the way yo go.

Okay, duh. If I'd taken half a second to read the ROM ad in your sig, I would have noticed that. Oh well. Yeah, you should get another fairly decent speed boost out of Voodoo, and you should enjoy the color fix as well.

An important note here is that you have to reboot *after* disabling the lag fix, since the actual conversion is done on the next boot following the change of the setting.
So the process is:
1- Set to disable the lag fix, either by manually creating the "disable lagfix" file on your SD card or by choosing the setting in red Clockwork.
2- Reboot your phone to allow it to do the conversion back to an RFS file system.
3- Then install your desired non-Voodoo kernel, through ROM manager or directly through Clockwork.
also note that the kernels just got updated for us with voodoo sound enhancements which are amazing.

I think this posting has given me the confidence to make the plunge. Thanks again to the community for the support.
I am also thinking of taking the voodoo plunge and this discussion has been really helpful. The only other question I have is about removing voodoo - I have the newer version of adrynalyne's voodoo uninstaller for dj05, wondering if this is the proper one for voodoo5 and dl09 also. Just want to have everything I need in case - thank you!

The audio out via bluetooth is not working... interesting. Going to try jt's now.
jt's latest did the trick. audio out works with bluetooth. adrynalyne's did not.
So I made the switch, and DAMN glad I did! Everything is so smooth and snappy. Thanks for all the help everyone!

Well I don't plan on flashing anything other than a voodoo kernel so I'm good as far as flashing over it. To disable just use the option from red cwm and I'm good there. What is the system disable tho? I forget the exact wording.

Just to confirm, if I use red cwm to create a backup then I would only be able to restore my backup on another voodoo kernel since the file extensions are different?

I think I want to make the plunge too. Right now I am running Blackhole 2.4 w/various non-voodoo kernels and my performance is fine but battery life is terrible. I have a couple of questions.
I'd like to try witching to the DL09 Super Clean 0.4 ROM / Radio and a voodoo kernel. Should I install the ROM or kernel first ?
What is this three finger salute to get into Red CWM? Can someone elaborate?
Is voodoo any better or worse for battery life? I havent had much luck with battery since going to DJ05 with any nonvoodoo kernel. Tried jt, ady, imnuts, etc.
Shouldn't matter whether you install the ROM or kernel first, though I did the kernel first, fwiw. Just make sure that you install them separately. I would probably recommend installing a Voodoo kernel first, let it do its thing, and reboot into your current ROM, then wipe and install the new ROM.
The three-finger salute is to hold power+volup+voldown from a powered off state, until the Samsung logo appears and then flashes off and back on once. That will boot into red CWM, which is now installed on your phone along with the Voodoo kernel. When you have Voodoo enabled, do everything in red CWM. Stay out of green CWM until after you disable the Voodoo lagfix, if you ever want to.
I haven't done a lot of testing, I'm very please with battery life on my phone with DL09 Super Clean and Adrynalyne's undervolted Voodoo kernel (use the latest 1/21 version, which has the cdrom bug from DL09 fixed). Using that combination, I updated my PRL and did a battery stats wipe after the phone was fully charged in a powered off state, and I have no problem making a full day with what I consider to be fairly heavy use, though some may deem it moderate use. With light use, I could make two days, which I've done a couple times.

To get to Red Clockwork, you need to power on the phone by holding both volume buttons and the power button. That's what they mean by the three finger salute.
You can also type 'reboot recovery' via adb or the terminal app to get to Red Clockwork.
You can NOT get there via ROM Manager.

Though not recommended for the sake of avoiding confusion, technically you can. Rom Manager will reboot you into green CWM, which it loads from the update.zip file on your SD card, and from there, you can go to the Advanced menu and choose Reboot to Recovery, and it will then reboot again, this time into red CWM.
I would really appreciate some help flashing the dl30 leak. I have never flashed any roms before. I have rom manager and my phone is rooted. Step by step help would be great THANKS!
I just got to recovery but when i tried to flash it said something about not being able to verify package or something

Yeah i saw that post earlier and had no luck, honestly i dont know jack about any voodoo. Im on DL09 stock. I dont even think im actually booting into recovery. I get to the screen on my phone that allows me to wipe data, wipe cache, update zip via sd card. when i try to install or update the zips it says failed because of verification signature.
You need to find an update.zip file for green cwmod I think theres one in the dev forums under one leaks reboot using 3button apply update.zip that will take you into cw... From there flash rom, kernel using install from zip then look in your downloads or xda folder

Did you installed Clockwork Recovery Mod correctly? You need to flash CWMRecovery_DJ05_DL09.tar with ODIN (via PDA, NOT Phone!!!) before installing it through ROM Manager first. Just installing from ROM Manager is not enough. Look at here for further instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913470
Thread deleted, stated above
Got it all figured out now thanks.
I'll add my nooby plea for help to this thread.
I have a stock rom. It USED to show as DI01. I did figure out how to root it, and just now noticed that it is showing as DH12 (baseband version AND build number), no longer DI01.
So, I need to update it first, before I can install DL30, correct?
I have a DL09.tar.tar file.
I have ODIN3.exe.
I have the DL30-leak.zip.
I have no clue what a CWM is or how to use/install it.
Where can I find the steps to get me to DL30?
Thanks.

So I flashed DL30 over my Voodoo DL09 and it booted up just fine.
my 2 problems...
1- I cannot download anything from the market (so I cannot download Titanium to install my backups to see if there are any other problems)... the download starts then just stops. No error messages or anything.
2- I cannot get my exchange mail up and running.
Otherwise... everything SEEMS to work. Calls come through, texts, etc.
Again, I flashed DL30 w/RED Clockwork over a DL09 rom with confirmed Voodoo lagfix (Quadrant scores in the 1800's).
Thoughts?

You don't have voodoo enabled. Installing a voodoo kernal does not mean you have a voodoo enabled. I did the same thing and was wondering why I was in the 900's. Go into red and "enable voodoo" then reboot. It will take sometime 5-10 minutes and you will here a female robot voice telling you whats going on

Help with How to install DL30
I keep getting the same error as another user but I have not seen a good answer yet. I tried to follow the guide by Syn Ack but I can not get past step 2. I get the error E: failed to verify whole-file signature...I have clockworkmod, I ran "Flash ClockWork Recovery" and choose the Fascinate. I also tried "Apply sdcard:update.zip" when I got the E:failed error. What am I missing?
Is there anyone that has fully installed DL30 and their *NEW* ClockworkMod Recovery works? I need to talk to you.

Just to clear up any confusion, the "new" CWM is also green, so don't think that the "red" CWM is the new one. The red one is just for voodoo kernels, and the last time I checked, neither the leaked DL30 stock build nor the Super Clean DL30 build supports voodoo, which means you actually need the CWM posted here: http://kaessa.com/files/froyo/DL30-cwm.zip
All of the above is true.
Be careful using that recovery, since it still uses koush's (BROKEN ASS) recovery.
I will try to put together a usable package tonight that uses the red cwm instead. That was a mear proof of concept test, not really meant for distribution.
oops, I totally left this part out but my cwm works perfect still, I never installed the new cwm package, I will now though.
I installed the new CWM first then the DL30 rom - this sent me to the TwLauncher force close loop of death. Reinstalled ROM 1st then new CWM and I'm now rocking 2.2 ...
"You know what the problem is with you, son, all of your brains are in your head and not in your feet."
hmm...I'm scared to even touch mine. lol. Followed one of adrynalyne earlier guides where you use odin to much cwmrecovery.tar and then flash clockwork mod in Rom Manager (can't seem to find it now). Rom manager says version 2.5.1.0 and I can still get into cwm.
I disabled voodoo, installed the new cwm, wiped cache/system reset, installed the super clean .7 with no problems at all.
I also rebooted after the voodoo disable and after I flashed the new cwm.
I can't wait for voodoo, the lag is driving me insane!
RubikS 1.7 - Voodoo 5 w/ Voodoo Sound!!
I can confirm that flashing the recovery after installing DL30 didn't work through Recovery mode. I attempted it twice to no avail. I'll retest with the new Red CWM when it's released.
ok. first off.
I just switched from dj05 voodoo with a sc rom, to sc2.3 voodoo eb01.
I made a back up in rom manager of dj05, and a tibu back up, but tibu, for some reason, didn't save to my sd. so I tried to go back to the dj05 back up, but it wouldn't boot. just got stuck on the samsung screen.
so I pushed dj05 back, tried to restore the back up, and still got stuck on the samsung screen. any ideas how to get this back?
ok. next. on sc2.3 eb01, I had neongt theme, decided I wanted revolution, so I downloaded revolution. put on sd, flashed, and boot looped. flashed neon gt again, it booted, and now I have both themes. dialer/menus from revolution, drop down from neon, etc. how would I go about getting just revolution?
lol ok next. so I kinda don't like how things are going with my current setup. would you recommend going with aosp v.7? and if so, would I push the eb01 voodoo kernel through odin then flash the rom through cwm?
thanks in advance for any help!

Won't boot back to dj05 because you probably didn't do an odin complete back to djo5. I'm betting you just tried flashing the rom ontop of your eb01 modem.
Your theme/rom issues are stemming from a lack of wiping data more then likely before flashing over the new rom/themes.
If you're running voodoo, try super clean 2.4 w/ voodoo...really nice and fast.

To be honest, I've never used a backup software. I manually copy and paste. any apps I download to a file on my computer then transfer them back over.
Follow these steps though.
1. Charge the battery till it reads 100%
2. Place Super Clean voodoo 2.4 on your SD card on your phone and enter download mode.
3. Plug in phone to odin and using PDA flash over eb01 modem
4. Go into CWM wipe data twice/bat statistics and cache...then select locate super clean 2.4 w/ voodoo and install and enjoy.
If you already have the eb01 modem set up, just download the sc 2.4 w/ voodoo and place it on your sd card and reboot into cwm. flash data at least twice and cache on a full charge. Then locate the zip file and extract/load via cwm. Should be good.
ok thanks. once there, should everything be wiped enough to be able to flash revolution theme on?

If you're going to flash a theme over sc 2.4, I'd still wipe data twice and cache...that's just me though. It's always best to start fresh you know?
yeah gotcha. can you help me with the busy box issue? or should I just pull all the apps from my phone to my computer?

I've never really pursued anything that way. I run on flashed phones so there's alot more chances for things to get f'd up so I've always done things the extra cautious way unfortunately. That way if I get a corrupted sd card error or anything along the lines, I'm secured. Plus I keep a change log for prl and modem settings.
Hey all, my buddy's getting his wife a Fascinate tonight -- we want to root it/lagfix it before he gives it to his wife.
But I thought I read somewhere Lagfix doesn't apply anymore....
So can someone help me out with the correct steps on this?
You are looking to use voodoo5 lagfix. Yes we all still use it. Imo, it is well worth it. And remember, the fascinate is *almost* impossible to brick. We have some VERY talented devs for this phone. If you are going to use voodoo lagfix, you might as well use adrynalyns debloated/deodexed rom. It removes all of vzw bloatware. I am running a different rom, but I started with voodoo lagfix with ed01 db/do rom. Battery is way better and phone is overall snappier. Surf around the development thread to get your feet wet. Good luck!

Thanks -- is adrynalyns debloated/deodexed rom different from the community Rom I'm seeing?

One Click Lagfix no longer applies, but if you install a voodoo kernel on the phone you will enable voodoo lagfix.
If you just want to root the phone and stay stock you will need to download the Samsung USB drivers for the Fascinate to your computer. After downloading the file, double click on the downloaded file to install the drivers:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NZS8BF7E
Download superuser 2.3.6.1 + busybox 1.19 and place it on the base of the sd card:
http://adrynalyne.us/files/odin/su-2.3.6.1+busybox1.19.zip
Load ODIN onto your computer:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J4Y10P6G
Flash this CWM recovery in the PDA section of ODIN:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/06al8prkgj29gps/cwm-recovery-ALL-3-30-FIX.tar
Boot directly to CWM by holding the volume up, volume down, and power buttons until you see the samsung logo flashes twice then let go of all three buttons, use volume buttons to scroll to install zip from sd card, power button, scroll to choose zip from sd card, power button, scroll to su + busybox file, power button. When that finishes installing, menu soft key until you are back at the main CWM menu where reboot system now will be highlighted, power button and phone will reboot.

Ha! I was actually going to suggest the debloated/deodexed ROM anyway after writing the novel. Yes debloated/deodexed and Comm ROM are different ROMs. Debloated/deodexed is just the stock ROM deodexed with most of the verizon bloat removed. Comm ROM is further debloated and includes much more customization including a custom kernel.
Thanks, you guys rock! Thanks for the direction and help!
One more question -- will this work the same for 2.1 *&* 2.2? I don't know yet which the phone has.

These should work on both. If she is getting a new one it will have 2.2. If it was purchased from someone else, won't know until you get it.
Thanks all! Everything worked great!
1 More quick question. We Rooted, then OTB Kernel, and then went to install the Debloated/Deodexed Rom, but it gave an Edify error?
We made a nandroid after rooting and then again after the kernel.
Should we have installed the ROM and then then kernel to make it work?
Thanks again.

always flash the rom first then the kernel. Odin this recovery: http://www.mediafire.com/file/06al8prkgj29gps/cwm-recovery-ALL-3-30-FIX.tar
This recovery won't give you any edify errors
