One thing to try is shut it off reboot. Turn it back on and reboot if needed
ok lemme try that a couple of times
Same problem
Have the same problem. Reboot doesn't help. Hard reset helps but after half a day it's back to Landscape mode only.
What can be causing this? It is so annoying...reset everyday and reinstall all aps.

Hello all,
My Iconia A500's auto screen rotation just suddenly went dead on me. Flipping the lock toggle near the volume buttons on and off doesn't do anything.
I've tried resetting the device via the reset button, factory reset it via the settings menu as well as the recovery menu (oh yeah, it's rooted, currently using thor's CW recovery v.1.5). I've also tried installing another ROM, deleting the cache partition and dalvik cache, fix permission, all to no avail.
I don't think its faulty gyro since I can still play NFS just fine. Its just refusing to auto rotate the screen.
Any of you guys ever experience this? Or maybe have any ideas I can try out ?
Thanks in advance!
hello, are you using thor ROM?

I did, just to see if it can fix the issue (the auto rotation went dead while i used a rooted stock rom). why?
Oh, I'm aware that Thor's newest ROM doesnt support the hardware autorotation toggle. I've tried the software toggle without any effect.
Anyone else getting this on 4.2.2 .. im stock and rooted .. when i go into settings or certain apps, the screen will flicker for a second...

No issue here on 4.2.2 stock not rooted, try wiping the cache or if that doesn`t help do a data factory reset.

will do
Ok ... so i fixed it .. but its annoying.. it only flickers when i disable the hardware keys ... when they are on , its fine
iv also noticed on GMD gesture control that if you turn off the status bar.. you cant get it back on
I received the OTA for 4.4.2 yesterday after I had installed 4.4.1 manually. I noticed with both that the screen began to flash black quickly, and then went back to normal, every now and again. I noticed it the most in Hangouts, and for some reason the Play Store keeps opening at random...very annoying because it doesn't even load to show me all the new things, it just stays white. Is anybody else having this issue? I assumed 4.4.2 was to fix the screen flash but nope. Also I noticed GPS doesn't lock on unless High Accuracy is selected under the GPS settings, haven't gotten it to work otherwise with Mobile Data or Wi-Fi
Hi, I had a very similar problem in the past, while updating my Nexus 4 from 4.2 to 4.3. The solution is to clear cache.
1. Put the phone in airplane mode.
2. Go to Settings -> Storage
3. Find the second bottom most item, "Cached data," and touch it. It will ask if you want to clear cache. OK it and power down the phone.
4. Reboot and get out of the airplane mode.
This should fix it. You can alternatively clear cache from the stock recovery. If this doesn't solve it and the screen flickering persists, give Google a call.

Hi there guys,
I have had the same problem updating from 4.4.1 to 4.4.2 and was looking for this fix,
here are the files that I used but I don't know for sure if it will work for you but for me it did the trick.
You have to try each one of them, for me the second one worked out, the first one didn't even flash on my phone.
So I guess you guys can give it a try.
After flashing and clearing (((Cache and Delvik/Cache)))) please reboot.
When I did the GPS fix worked right away, so it was a very quick fix based on a Galaxy S3 script and the best part was that
I didn't need to go back to a stock room or anything.
PLEASE IF THIS WORKS FOR YOU JUST HIT THANKS.
I'm not good at this guys so here are the two links the website give me if you like let me know if anything is wrong
I will send you guys the file directly.

Hey folks.
My samsung galaxy s4 i9505 with android 4.4.2 and i have rooted it few times and got back to stock.
The problems i am facing are
1. i lock the screen and then tryna turn back on but it never turns back on i have to continuously press the home screen in order to activate samsung s voice which in turn helps me to switch on the screen back. It takes almost a min or so to turn back on.
2.Its geting tooooooooooo slow omg i never expected this to happen.
3.The camera app sucks to the core the "processing" takes almost few seconds to take a pick.
Please help me how do i get rid of these.
I dont know if i can switch the rom to pure android lollipop if thats possible please do guide me to how can i do that.
or please guide me some rom which is prety fast and almost close to pure android which has all the apps installed which are required.
Try a factory reset first.

I have tried it sir.
Then you are doing something wrong
Setting the phone to the condition you bought it in is not a temporary fix
Did you make modification when you were rooted? That could explain why a factory reset doesn't work. If so, flash a 4.4.2 stock rom.
after update back button and task manager button doesn't work
i restart device too many then it's work
but at this morning this problem is appear
how should i do ?!
factory reset solve problem ?!
i need app data and when it's not root i can't backup them
please give me the best solution.
thanks
any one?
Do hardware test, open Calculator, type .12345=+ , if the result returns okay then it's worth to give factory reset a try. You should backup manually though using gdrive, otg, micro sd, hard drive whatever. It happened to my Galaxy S3 once and the reset solved the problem.

i tried to reset factory
but it appear after next day
when i rotate screen this key work
but at normal mode some times work some times doesn't work
i check the screen and it's ok and show my touch on screen and didn't damage or some thing else
i need help
please help me
if i try reinstall rom it's came back to normal mode ?!
I check the hardware test and sadly there is no capacitive keys test, my bad. Although it's rather pointless you may try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.test.suite.android
Only home and back key test available. The following
could be done in sequence if previous attempt fails :
1. Play around with recent key option in asus customized setting
2. Try wipe cache partition
3. Flashing firmware
4. Flashing RAW firmware
5. If nothing works, most likely it's hardware issue
or in the mean you can use virtual softkeys available in playstore
