i can confirm that they indeed show life on the shell.
starting in landscape mode from top to button, the top 3 give output on the screen but 1x.
after the home button (4) it seems to trigger normal use.
vol-up/down work, cursor left right, etc...
you have to be using a keyboard to be able to shutdown from the shell tho.
the error comes from the filesystem, could be a faulty sd card.

I WAS WONDERING HOW I COULD REINSTALL WINDOWS ON MY DEVICE AS I CANT SWITCH IT ON. IN FACT I CAN SWITCH IT ON BUT WHEN IT TRYIES TO ENTER THE WINDOWS SHOWS A WHITE SCREEN ONLY AND DOESNT START PROPERLY AND THEN A BLACK SCREEN AGAIN.
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO.
For god sakes, stop typing in capitals.
Hold down the Comm+Voice buttons while pressing the reset button. Then release the reset button. Keep your fingers on the Comm+Voice button until it says "Push send to format"... then press the bottom left button on the front of the device (i.e. the green telephone button). It will say FAT format complete then it will reboot. Wait about 2 minutes for it to repopulate the device's ROM.
There, you have a factory-fresh device.
Hello Friends,
There are many many useful sequence of keys in HTC Universal which is usable for device manipulation. If you know one of them, please report them here.
I know there are many threads that our friends define some keys, but I think an integrate thread is needed.
1) Reset to factory setting
Press and Hold Both Menu Keys On Keyboard ( With Minus (-) Sign) and reset your phone using stylus. A Message appears and wants you to enter 0 to clear storage memory.
2) Show boot menu
Press and hold Light button(Right of Infrared) and reset your device using stylus. A Menu appears and you can do some boot tasks.
3) I want to update my device, but It does not boot and I cant use active-sync to update that.
Press and hold light button(Right of Infrared) and Turn-on button(beside SD Slot) then restart your device using stylus.
The device goes in update mode, you can plug usb cable and run MaUpgradeUt.exe. If it shows error run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe.
My soft keys are acting weird. sometimes when i press the home button right after a boot, it captures screen, meaning the 'menu' soft key is depressed. However, after that the softkeys don't respond anymore.
Also, sometimes while powering on, the Galaxy boots up in 'safe mode', meaning again that the 'menu' button is depressed (the way to enter safe mode is by pressing the menu button with the power button).
I have checked the key map in the clockwork recovery which show the 'menu' & 'back' key responding only once before going dead.
During general operation, the softkeys don't work at all and i'm left with only the home button.
Since the keys respond once, i'm sure they're not broken. Seems like a software error. I have tried different kernels & 3 diff roms, but the situation is the same.
Any help to ascertain / solve the problem will be appreciated
Similar issue
I had a similar issue on a brand new phone, the soft keys would detect my finger from about 1cm away, so holding the phone and moving you grip would cause them to activate, eventually they would lock up until you locked the screen and tried again. It was totally a hardware issue, I replaced the phone used the same ROM and no issues.
the reason i'm convinced its not a hardware fault is that the keys 'blink' when i touch them which means they are registering touch. its got to be something else.
the Galaxy has got to be the most mysterious device ever!
Sounds like you ought to send it in for a replacement.
You can try a touchkey firmware update.
Make sure you're on your device's stock ROM otherwise you'll lose your touchkeys.
ENTER *#*#2663#*#* in the dialer. Then update the touchkey firmware and reboot.
You should be able to return to your other ROM after this.

Ok, so I got a HTC Snap which has installed the 3vo 3.50 OS. It worked fine, until today. After I disabled the silent profile, I went and change a few settings in the Power Managemenet. I changed the screen timeout and those kind of things. After few moments, i tried to write a message and it was like after few letters, or after a word it was automaticaly pressed enter. Also when i press the trackball, i don't need to press it to hard to be recognized, i'm barely touching it, and when i press the soft keys it's registered as a double input. For example, when i go start>message and when i press Menu it automaticaly selects "New". I don't know what to do, please help....
No one can help me?
Guys I was yesterday turned off the phone, now turns and reaches the black background with logo of Samsung Galaxy S4, then restarts, will not let me enter recovery mode, and if I enter download mode, gives me the option of pressing button increase or decrease volume and pressing any of these resets and returns to the above.

What can I do?
Your power button may be stuck.
when pressed, it feels normal

It just "feels" normal.
Try tapping it on a hard surface for a while..not too hard tapping though..
It should be fine. Happens with many here
could it be because the place you battery latches only
I just remove the phone to see if the buttons are locked, and there were none in this condition
I believe there are 3 connections on the motherboard for the power button. Do you have a multimeter to see if the power button circuits are constantly open or closed?
I opened it and pulled the internal button on and off and was constantly rebooting, I took a technical service and changed the internal button now works well; )
