Hey, my long awaited HD2 is coming tmrw!!! WOOHOO! YES!
Okay, all excitement over, what is the first thing I should do?
As in, screen tests, setting tweaks, etc?
Also, can someone step by step go through how to flash a EnergyROM onto the device later, once I have it?
Thanks,
The Gamer in MYJ

Thanks man, I've heard so much good about it, but lately there have been so many bugs/problems being discussed on the forums, that I'm slightly scared.
Okay, thanks for the advice, will do. I just was looking at some ROMs, and saw how awesome Energy looked with MaxManilia haha
Hi there! Welcome to XDA Developers
I see your HD2 is arriving soon! Trust me it is SHINY!!!
And you'll love the way the device balances in your hand. Anyways, i'd suggest first of all to learn how to use the phone. Like, familiarise yourself with the layout, play around with the camera, and best of all flow through the Sense UI.
To learn how to flash ROMS, go to the HD2 Rom development section and head into the HSPL Guide there. Everything is mentioned step-by-step. Follow instructions carefully
That said, i'll strongly advice you try out more than one ROM, as each chef has his/her own unique taste and preferances. You're sure to find a ROM that's "just right" for you!
Remember to install Chainfire's HD2 Driver Patch, as that'll make your device run even smoother. Finally, browse through the General forum, and make sure you check out the Tips and Tricks forum, which is a life saver! If you want, also update your phone's Radio Version (found in the ROM Development Section)

I suppose that the cookie mod imitates the iPhone's app screen? Maybe people will be like "My device has 3 UI's in 1: iPhone home which is what the cookie rom seems to do, then there's the WinMo Start button, when you tap that, you get the Program menu...and last but not least...HTC Sense
Plus it gives a more wider base for the HD2 to stand on (if that made Sense)
Mind the pun

Well there are 2 ways of getting the 1.66 Rom, first would be HTC's website, then Support, and go to the ROM update (You'll need to enter some digits found under your phone battery) OR...you can go to the HD2 ROM Development section and then look under the Stock Roms (easier and faster in my opinion than going all the way to HTC's website!)
Ps. EnergyRoms are amazing...you won't know until you try and experiance it for yourself! There are many tweaks etc applied...and it has a cool theme set. You'll also get regular updates

As Mr Elemental_Fire says, I would go for getting the rom via HD2 Development section. I downloaded the from from HTC website and for such a small file it seemed to take ages.(Could of just been the shonkey EU server though)
As of today? I am looking to install a 2.2 rom for a co worker. Since i will not be around to trouble shoot after installation I need something very very stable and w/ everything working. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

p.s. I know there is an identical thread but no one has posted there in over 2 months and at the speed of these new releases that post is like ancient now.

flame on....
here we go again.
anyway, hyperdroid v1.6 (non-sense build) works really good for daily use. For a sense build, i can't answer, cause i just don't use it (it's frugly)
Round 10000th.
All builds are stable.
By now, who make the builds stable are the Kernels.
So the builds, who have the last updates in kernel sutff, are the most completely.
The build I most like are the HD and Z, but they don't have the camera working, so for now, I chose another one with it and the last kernel who fix the premature flash.
Choise by your taste.
U should have posted it and get flamed in Android General section...
I'm using phiremod skinnyEVO 1.3, no problems.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
The most stable Rom is the one you seek my friend......lol
sent from my Hd2 desire Z
The most stable is the 1.D.10.T 10-16-10...
Kidding aside, it's a little tough to call, different folks -- different strokes i guess, after trying differnet combos, radio's etc....
for me the best has been the mDeeJay's Froyo sense.... (specially with hastarian kernals)
i like v2.5... over 1.1 clean....
I was gonna post the link, damn i'm not allowed to!
ey the most stable for me is
android ..Mdeejay_FroYo_HD_v._3.6
wm... Dexter-TheDarkOne,Radio Leo 2.15.50.14
camera dont work
Difficult to answer and a bit dangerous also The latest ones would be amoug the most stable although not always necessarily so.
i think anyone who posts these types of questions, especially in DEVELOPMENT!!!
should just be banned.... and go get an iphone.

It's called Windows Mobile 6.5.
The HD2 comes with an OS that is exactly what your colleague needs. Why would you even consider sticking them on Android if they cannot fix any issues that crop up?
I'm a big fan of Android and would recommend it to anybody, as long as they can deal with any issues that ensue. If they can't, I'd recommend they stick with Windows.
In before the move perhaps..this should be posted in he HD2 Android General section with the other 100 "whats the best?"
Hey guys,
I've been running android via SD card on my HD2. I love it, but its a little laggy and I've been running into bug with data (TMOUS) cutting in and out. I've tried quite a few different WinMO roms and versions of android.
My question is how would NAND android suit me? Would it run a little bit faster and be a little more stable? As well, would battery life be a little bit better?
Once I do NAND, am I able to reverse things back to WinMO if I wanted to?
If someone can explain this and possibly provide a link to some information that would be great. I'm unable to find what I need on the search.
Thanks for the help and sorry for the noob question. I'm kinda new to this and I'm still trying to figure things out. I've done several PSPs before, but never a phone. Hopefully once I get the basics down I can handle the rest.
Thanks for the help

Hey there. Before anyone else gets you... The search button is our friend. This has been answered. However, in my opinion: Running Android on nand is less taxing on the ram, microsd card and the battery on your phone. This also makes android much more stable.
To go back to Windows Mobile you can flash a stock rom... To do this search the forums and you will find your answer.
If you still need more help post back and I'll give you a hand.

if it's laggy then you haven't tried RAM builds or there's something wrong with your phone/sd card.

No I have not done any RAM builds. Just SD. Its not terribly laggy, but it feels like it should be faster.
I just finished putting a NAND flavor of Android on my phone. No brick for me! yay
Everything seems to be working well so far and its blazing fast with no lag
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction
hi ,
I am pretty sure that your guys are tried of topics like these already but i dont know where else to go . Can you guys please help me figure out which NAND android Rom would be the best suitable for me?
this is what i need my phone to do :
*use it as an everyday rom so has to be pretty stable.
* need normal phone operations working e.g - GPS, Bluetooth, texting,dialing,speaker phone, wifi,camera,video camera,flash
*want flash, swype ,app2sd,internet tethering with usb and wifi hotspot and of course the android market app.
*A somewhat fast rom , and need to be able install and use apps from the sd card. live wallpapers would be cool but not a necessity.
Again in advance I am really sorry if i came across as smug or needy or ignorant or not willing to use the search feature. That was not my intention , read a lot of posts here and there forums and all different kind of roms are only confusing me further.Thats why i registered and decided to write this post.I'll post this at XDA as well hope i get some help .
again thats in advance and sorry if my post was annoying, just trying to learn.
hi.
probably hundreds to choose from ,but the one in my sig works well for me and pretty much covers the things you're after
Look no further
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926507
depends whether you want with or without "sense"
core droid has sense
tytung does not
Most of the things you outlined like GPS etc. work on every ROM now.

Why not read one of the existing threads about which build is best and base your decision from that? Just so you know, there is no right and wrong answer. Just because I like Hispanic chicks, with fat #$%$# doesn't mean you have to like Hispanic chicks with fat #$^#$.
Really??? What I do is read the entire build thread usually there are one to four pages about each build on each indivisual ROM. This is where you are going to obtain information about the ROM itself. Then download one, hell download 10 try them out. I am personally a fan of the Desire ROM's.

I HAVE and do read the entire build thread on the ones I am interested in, doing so is a good idea. Again this is where you get the information about the build. It is only going to take 5-10 minutes to read through an entire developers first post (1-4 pages max) So lets see, if you read through 12 builds at 5 minutes you have only invested an hour of time and gained a lot of knowledge. Most builds take about 30 minutes to download so while you are downloading ONE build you can educate yourself on at least 5 other builds you might be interested in. Some builds I start reading turn me off right away, those I dont bother going back too. Also if you are too lazy to read through a build then you are probably going to install it wrong and spend double the amount of time it should of taken. I AM JUST SAYING!
TO THE OP:
I like desire builds:

I'm not saying i have read every single thread in relation to a certain build that i may have flashed on my phone but ive read a lot on here and have flashed a lot, no interest in WINMO anymore although i used to especially like the NRG ROM's also Laurentius but as regards Android until such time a stable Honeycomb build comes about ill stick with Sergio Coredroid it is IMO the best there is, i must give a mention to previous builds ive had which were excellent like Darkstones NAND SUPERAM,exceptionally fast but discontinued, also MDJ, Xboarder and Rafpigna but Sergio's is for me no 1.
I used what is called ...."most stable" froyo 2.2 . GPS dont work.

I've read the first, and last five pages of almost every NAND build thread. He needs to do what we did, and install different builds until he finds one that suits his needs. Like it's been said a thousand times, just because I like hispanic chicks doesn't mean he's going to like Hispanic chicks.
Plus, he could have opened one of the numerous, "what rom is best?" threads and gotten the same answer he would have gotten here.
It also makes me laugh that you're calling buddy a liar. If you're so concerned with the OP getting a solid build, then why don't you toss the SD version, install all of the NAND builds, and turn in an essay about which build is best?

No problem bro. LOL @ the guy calling you a liar. Some people amaze me.
seriously guys , my intention was not to create a problem.I am not lazy either, i have done my fair share of reading but you have to understand for a guy who has no idea about linux or android ( except that its a kickass software for phones) all the information out there could be a little overwhelming.I didn't read quiet a few" which rom is the best " and they all confused me even more .The most prevalent answers those pots got was a lot a bashing with some " every rom is different , pick one that suits your needs" . Thats why when i started my thread i specifically mentions what i "desired" from the rom.I am really confused about the phone now. Some people on other forums are saying that since HD2 wasn't made for Android you would't get a stable rom for everyday use it is sure to mess up.Its posts like these that are confusing me even more and i am actually thinking about returning the phone and take the easy route of getting a samsung Vibrant.
again thanks for all the guys who mentioned their roms and the ones thats tried to help .honestly just because someone is asking a question doest mean that they were lazy and didnt read anything . If i didn't read anything then i would't have known about NAND .
PS: i love hispanic chicks with huge @%%^ too. Infact i love them all with huge )*##*#

So i have wp 7.5 nand and im kinda getting bored of it even though its stability is amazing(also speed) and i have android on my sd but all theses sd roms arent that satisfying so i am considering moving to android nand.
ive seen many nand roms that look amazing and my question is if i install nand on it will it be the same as a native android device (speed, stability,.battery etc...)
and do u think i should do that change?
if yes then please recommend some roms with eachs specialty
thanks
Note: i install many apps like 200+ thats why sd builds never agree with me, so also consider that(i have searched, watched videos but...)

look around. No one answers these threads, especially when you ask for detailed analys of each roms specialities. ALL the roms are the best. If there were a best rom we'd all be using it.
As for android on band, yes its comparable to a real android device. Better than many, in fact.
Thx

it took me well over a year to get my HD2 from WM6.5 to android, now im running a beta version of android 4.0.1 its great.
i suggest you really look into it to begin with, if you do decide to do it i would get the HTC HD2 TOOL Kit, and a CustomRUU from DFT to initially hack the device, these where the things that took me a few go's to figure it out, and youtube is great for advice

I have been trying 20+ roms. This one is pretty fast.
I install plenty apps, and this rom does not slow down. It is as fast as the wm rom.
Sense 2.1 looks old but it is perfect for our "older " phone. With this rom I have fully working Wi-Fi tethering. It is not build in the rom, but I can make it work

The second post of the NRG thread has a great explanation of how to install.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17584373&postcount=4
It really comes down to personal taste, between cm7, sense, aosp, etc...
But android has come along way on nand and in some cases outperforms alot of phones(this is a 2yr old device but still a beast ;-) ) but just try a few roms and choose one. Grab the hd2 toolkit for your system partions and cwm, and off you go!!
Good luck!
Ps. I personally use tyungs nexushd2 rom
Its just pure awesome gingerbread
