I understand that task29 clean up the internal phone memory to install new roms with windows mobile, but what i dont understand is that some roms for android needs task 29, instead we have the full wipe by cwm.
I've read it too, and don't understand it either. I've flashed several NAND builds without ever using task29. Whether you use DAF or CRM, NAND is getting wiped which is probably the same as running Task29. Task29 was performed so quickly, especially with Flashaholic RUU, that it simply can't be a full format.
So, unless somebody proves me otherwise, I don't see any reason for performing a Task29.
Sincerely,
Mac

i'am right now using dutty's rom(wm) and cyanogen mod7 android on my sd card.but i want to go for the nand android roms.i've read the instructions thread.i had been very usefull, but i have a small confusion whether if magldr formats my phone memory,so that i can have a clean install of nand rom?
because for flashing wm roms we use task29 to clean the phone memory and install the new rom.but i haven't read anything abt formating the phone memory in the instructions thread for nand android for newbies.
You can still use Task29 to format the NAND memory. It'll wipe MAGLDR but that's as easy as flashing it again from the RUU. So basically, MAGLDR will wipe over your WM ROM. I'm not too sure about if it formats the NAND area but I'd presume it would as it would want a clean install.
But flashing a ROM from MAGLDR/CWM won't simply format the NAND. You have to use Task29 as usual. Then installing MAGLDR and CWM takes like 5 mins. It's not needed too often on MAGLDR but it's recommended for a clean install but most definetly not needed every new ROM flash.
so better to go with the following order for a clean install,
1)task 29
2)magldr
3)flash rom
do i have to flash a radio after flashing the android rom as well, like we do it for window's roms?

That's a personal choice depending on your coverage. Just be sure the version flashed is compatible with your HD2

You don't have to, as long as you already have a XX.X.50 radio, but if you are getting poor coverage/signal or poor battery life then you can, then give it awhile and see if it improves.
But a .50 radio is all that's really required for running Android, if you have that, you dont absolutely have to flash a radio
Sent from my HTC HD2
No you don't have to. But it's recommended to have the 2.15.50.XX radio. Just because it's the newest and that's what most people use.
And yeah you can do that now and again. I wouldn't bother do that before every ROM I flash, but every week or so just to keep it 'fresh'.
So, Im using a sense 3.5 ROM and out of the box it and issues with charging. I started flashing different kernels to see if that would fix my problem. Now no matter what ROM im using, my phone will not charge. The red light comes one the phone indicting that my phones plugged up, but i get no charge. Can someone tell me if there's a zip file out there that can wipe all data installed by kernels?
Im running out of oppositions here............. PLEASE HELP!!!!! Thanks
Magldr, right?
Just reflash with stock winmo (leoimg.nbh to sdcard and bootloader), hspl, radio, and just use clk instead of magldr.
In my opinion this (reflash all) is the fastest way to fix your HD2.
You have to do a full wipe before installing the new ROM. It is probably a hardware issue in your side because there are no 3.5 ROM's on this forum that have issues with charging.
thank u

I am using mag. I've never used clk. I always do a fresh install when I flash a Rom. Task29, etc. I will do what u said and see if that works. Thanks for your help. My signature is the Rom I'm using.

sorry to tell you but there are many people haveing chargeing issues
with 3.5 roms
Flash wm6.5 stock image, flash magldr, flash recovery/system partitions, flash rom
(no task29)
then should solve problem.
Task 29 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5848003&postcount=19, then flash your radio followed by magldr or clk then CWM.
You can try clearing Dalvik cache and flash a new kernel in CWM recovery menu.

Is it fixed?
Just working on my 10post....
is there any graphical Pie chart of some sort showing the innards of the HD2 ROM/ NAND/ RAM?
I really want to understand where & how much does the HSPL/ MagLDR/ CWM/ OS/ sit on what (ROM or NAND?). Also when you say partition(for OS) does it partition the the NAND or the Micro-SD?
I was really like figuring out how to use the HD2 Toolkit & so far this is what I've done after HSPL.
wipe > clk repartition @ 150mb > clk install recovery > InstallMAgLDR > MagLDR Repartition @ 150mb > update ROM (via CWM)
i don't know if what i did was right but all went well for a miui nand rom, Sorry for the Noobish question.
amazing! 200+ views, I guess a lot are eager to see how this super phone innards works. I hope someone could shed some light on the topic
Maybe if you titled this thread with [Q] as you're supposed to for questions, this wouldn't have gotten so many views
The repartition repartitions the NAND, and you can create an SD EXT partition for the rest. Your method is literally the least logical way of doing things, but at least it works You could have just skipped steps 2 and 3 and just wiped, installed MAGLDR and CWM and then flashed a ROM, or you could have installed a cLK ROM, so I don't really see why you would flash a bootloader only to flash another one immediately afterwards.
And I have no clue about the graphical thing
<--bootloader--><--spl--><--radio--><--splashscreen--><--splashcreen2(or magldr/clk)--><-------------nand-------------->
Not very graphical, and perhaps the spl/radio aren't that way round, but close enough. The only bit that gets partitioned is the nand part,
When you partition, the nand bit gets cut into
Boot recovery system cache data
With varying sizes all based around the system size you choose. If you make a system partition that's bigger than your rom requires, the extra space is wasted, since only the data partition counts towards androids total available internal space.
As mentioned above, you don't need to flash clk and then magldr, they're two variants of the same thing.
You flash magldr OR clk not both.
Magldr is simpler, clk allows the phone to charge when off, and to repartition without needing a PC.
So from scratch you would...
Radio, magldr, clockwork(cwm), rom.
You already have magldr and cwm so go flash the rom!
thanks guys for clearing some stuff up
& i get the picture with that "graphical text" illustration, thanks for taking the time. I have a few friends that want to try out this rooting/ updating but are toooooo lazy to read long explanations
Hello,
In install guide WP7 Rom i have to use last 24mb nand, and what will happen, if i use this 24mb and then i would back to wm6.5? I heard that, if i use task49 i can brick hd2.
Enjoy.
PS. Sorry for my english.
no that not true... and you can back to wm6.5
i flashed HD2 hundred times, many times used task29 to erase NAND and UseLast24NAND and still not bricked...
also look tutorial in my signature
Re:
So if i reflash magldr, it will be ok with this 24mb nand, and then i could use task29?
no... magldr is after task29... task29 erase all from NAND
Re:
Ok, But what happen if i use last 24mb nand, install wp7, and then i'll use task29?
PS. Sorry for my stupidity.
you erase all memory
task29 is for complete erase (format) NAND memory
i know, but what about destroy phone with combination 24mb + task29 after this 24mb?

did you read.... this not true... YOU CANT BRICK PHONE.. in one year i dont see any complain about bricked phone with this.... when you flash WM6.5 or use task29 you delete all from phone also last24NAND is removed and memory restored to original size....
only way to brick phone if your battery drop dead or USB cable disconnect during flash
always is risk when you flashing phone but if nobody bricked phone in more than is really bad luck if this happened and you cant blame uselast24nand for brick...
i was following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939682 then got up to magldr, tried to open ruu but couldn't so i downloaded advanced ruu. ran task 29. and after the phone rebooted, it gotten stuck on the htc green screen
Of course it does, Task29 deletes everything in your phone. Just flash MAGLDR, CWM and your ROM and you should be good to go.

thanks!
Is it true i can't install android without a sd card?
You can but only very small ROMs and there's not much you can do without an SD card. I'd recommend buying one but if you really don't want to then you'll just have to find a ROM which allows a NAND only install on your HD2 variant. If you have a TMOUS this will be a lot easier than if you have an EU HD2.
