Headphones are being recognized as Headsets on my Incredible. I have tried multiple pairs of headphones. Flashing back to a stock rooted rom solves the problem. Really liked the ROM but it disables the phone mic when connected in my car.
Mod: CyanogenMod 6.1.0-Inc
Baseband: 2.15.00.07.28
Kernel:2.6.32.17-cyanogenmod #27
Has anyone else had this problem or know a solution?
Just kidding didn't read your post fully haha sorry
Just flashed CM7 nightly build #17 and it does the same thing. Uggh. I really like the functionality of the Cyanogen Roms. They just make sense. Going back to sense is going to suck.
Really all I need out of a ROM is landscape home screens, stable, and good battery life. Everything else I can live with. Any ideas?
Senseless rom with a new launcher Yay??
I use OMFGB and it knows that headphones are headphones
Dling SR Athena now. That with ADW or whatever it is and I should be good to go.
Well even with the Sky Raider Athena ROM which runs on a sense kernel the damn thing still recognizes headphones as a headset. I'm at a loss. With the stock rooted rom and stock kernel it works flawlessly.
Well back to running a stock rooted ROM with ADW launcher.
My phone is a slug and the battery lasts half as long
Can I run another sense kernel with this ROM. Do I just flash the kernel zip and hope for the best?

Yes, you can run another kernel on a stock ROM. You need to download the desired kernel (find one that is Sense based since you're using a stock ROM). Boot into recovery and flash the zip and you're good to go.
Thanks. Trying it now to see if it is the kernel that is causing the problem.
Now running Hydra kernel on stock ROM and it is working properly. It seems as if the ROM is the problem.
I might try going back to CM6 with a different kernel.

Hey,
I'm coming from JF 1.5 and since he has stopped developing I thought I better go to a new ROM, what do you guys recommend? How stable are the Hero ROMs for every day use?
Thanks
I would go with the latest cyanogen stable mod which is 4.04.1 one I believe, there are too differant threads for expermental and stable. My opinion is that I would not use a hero for daily use, too slow, pretty but some people say they have fast heroes
I would try either cyan or xrom. If you want to try hero I would go with jacxheroski but no matter what size swap you have you will get SOME lag and calls will come in slowly, it is all personal opinion though so you will have to see what fits you best.
I went from JF 1.51, to a Rogers, and then went from that to Cyanogen. I'd go to Cyanogen and stay there. It works well and is very fast.
Cyanogen is where it's at. I'm using his 4.1.1 experimental with no probs, but the stable is most likely safest 4.0.4.
whats a rom? is it like a firmware?
I suggest xRom, Quick, simple, easy to use and fast as hell.

lol
hero roms are fast and stable enough(for some people) however the maintainance and cutbacks such as no bluetooth, dim leds , and not being able to have many apps running are not worth it(for me at least) if you want a good stable rom i would recommend any of cyans stable roms however on weekends i do usually flash to a hero rom to see the progress that has been made
and yes a rom is like a firmware
A rom is a modified build of android based off a stock system with tons of good stuff like superuser and unicorns. The word roms were used back when we were are little kids using windows mobile and it just has stuck with us. I would have suggested xrom but that requires the danger spl but since it was asked what's a rom, I didn't think it was a good idea
Ps.. yes I said unicorns, mine has unicorns, if your's doesn't, then you got ripped off.......I would ask your rom dev for a refund
I finally took the plunge Sunday night, going from JF1.51 to CM4.0.4, and I couldn't be happier. It's like a whole new phone!
I installed the latest CM recovery image manually, then installed CM Update from the market, ran it, let it do its thing, and viola!
I was just thinking about setting up maybe 2 or 3 roms for use and changing them out. I love CM6, but can't get my wifi to work and battery issues of course. I have a hard time liking sense roms, but wouldn't mind giving it a chance again. I love having the option to setup a rom and be able to restore the backup so easily. Just wondering what are your favorite roms that you have a backup for.
I've never tried Val's rom, but his nonsense rom looks pretty good to me. Also, going to give the 2.2 a shot as well.
I have never used Rom Manager, because I liked amon's recovery, but to make it easier guess I will flash to clockwork
CM6 and Ava-Froyo at the moment. Ava is lightning fast. Absolutely love it.
I keep a fresh stock Rom and cm 6.0 as backups and I use the cm nightlys as my daily driver luckily only thing not working for me is hdmi and 4g which I don't really need all the time and if I do need 4g for tethering or hdmi out I just restore fresh. I have only needed this once since I got the phone when I was on vacation up in mammoth. Otherwise 3g in my area is super fast and sufficient for everyday use
Cm6 Matted
CM6 Nightly
Fresh normal and themed
Baked normal and themed
and a couple of others
CM6 Final - recently reverted to this as my daily driver
CM6 Nightly - just to see what's new and what's not working
Netarchy v1.1 - just in case I need 4G, best kernel for battery
I'm currently on simplicity jvs and its not stable and it often freezes and reboots. What can I try that won't freeze and reboot out of the blue?

Id suggest a fresh flash of simplicity making sure you follow the instructions to the letter.
I've been using simplicity for weeks and haven't had any crash or lag once.

Hello,i have used jetpack with talondev kernel for a month, very fast, great battery life and seems very stable!
here the thead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178026
I would figure the stock firmware would be the best thing for freezing and reboots.
Ian
most often crashes and freezes are from legacy data and bits of stuff left from previous flashes that are incompatible with whatever you have on there now. Won't matter what you install until you cleanse the phone fully.
Backup your apps and data, copy the backup to your pc or the external sd card and then cleanse the phone and then flash the firmware of your choice.
I've been using MIUI rom for several months now. Have tried going back to stock roms such as JVS but I have to say I liked MIUI more...

after flashing nearly every custom rom out there over the last year I'm currently doing the same as you and running stock JVT with semaphore 1.8.
This stock rom is so good that imo there is probably little point in running anything other than stock. Been running mostly jetpack v6 recently but got fed up of the occasional freezes and reboots.
Cyanogen
Cyanogen... can't get more stable than that...
Norbi is stabel rom
I can suggest to you use Norbi. It is stabel rom.
Used CM7 for a while but returned to stock JVT
Hi,
as the title said, I used CM7 (stable/released version) for some days/weeks and I must admit: it was runnning very stable! But the one thing that got me returning to a stock version, was the fact that one had to download the Google Apps (Gapps like RomManager calls it) in order to get Gmail, Market, Maps etc, on the device.
Having said that Gapps that I downloaded, was only for 2.3.5 where CM7 is running (a modified) 2.3.7; so after a few days the Google Framework FC'ed heavily on me, after finding some solutions online (cleaning data etc), I came to realize that I use Gmail (and its "native" features) very often, so I decided to return to stock JVT.
I am checking from time to time whether Gapps is being ported to 2.3.7; and if that's the case (hopefully soon) I will jump immediately back to CM7
I hope my post helps you a bit further.
Cheers!
Been running cm7 for weeks now, not even 1 FC on me...All kind of issue is due to bad flashing and user's error! What i suggest is that you make a clean install. When i say "clean install" meaning flashing back to froyo, wipe internal SD, cache...etc Flash GB latest FW den to cm7. This is to make sure u have a very clean base, no doubt is troublesome, but end of the day, its very worthwhile...
Yes I second or third that (Cyanogen Mod 7.1)
Its the best man!

Another vote for CM 7.1 Solid as a rock.
Stock rom with some great kernels (GalaxyEE , Semaphore)
GalaxyRom: as sable as stock plus you get a very nice Blue theme.
So i am on this forum for a long time now i tested every rom and kernel with games and how they work and all but now i need your help currently i am on stock rom and i am sick of it because it is slow and my internal memory is 150/190 mb used... i stopped playing games and i am now looking for fastest rom that won't bug,and i need it for messages and music player so do you have any opinion on what should i use cm7 ? kyrillos ? or there is something better ? faster ? easier to use?
ty to all that help me
Kyorarom would help in opening apps faster as you can use kyora app to lock apps in memory so they open faster. I recommend kyorarom too for its tweaks and theme. Its really up to you
Cheers

Ok, let me summarize a bit... I was planning on making a guide for my setup for all those who want update but are a bit skeptic towards custom ROMs.
Let's get started...
Firstly, I have to state that I tried almost every ROM out there and Kyorarom, personally left biggest impact on me considering speed...
BUT, few days ago, I had some crazy picture in my head which was saying that modding one part of ROM crashes whole integrity of that ROM. So I was thinking that probably the best solution would be putting stock ROM and changing kernel only.
So, what did I do?
I decided to try to update ROM to original Froyo supplied from my provider (T-mobile Croatia)
1.) I flashed complete eclair...
2.) Failed to update to Froyo via Kies (who would say...)
- when Kies downloads a ROM it stores it to temp folder. As it didn't want to update from Kies, I took the same ROM and flashed it through ODIN
3.) As that worked perfectly, I had clean XXJPQ (So far the best one I got...) and decided to put a root as I faced some problems before while flashing kernels which should grant me a root...
4.) After I got root, it came to me that I just have to choose right kernel. I decided to go for fugumod. In this case, I took fugumod 2.4 800 Mhz (Cpu setup - 333.5 / 800 Mhz, governor performance)
Right now, you have a ultra mega fast ROM with incredible battery life. (Using ROM whole day with data and wifi + some music got it down to 85% from fully charged)
After that all I did was put 5LS mod and extended power menu...
I'm using Nemus Launcher which has left the smoothest impact on me and the most satisfying options provided for customizing...
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
EDIT:
As there wasn't recovery, and with that no backup option, I had feeling like it's really needed. Fugumod didn't serve any kind of recovery and I haven't found any kind of standalone install for CWM, it was time for me to change kernel. Candidates were kyorakernel (hillbeast) and astrum (moikop). As I tried kyorakernel before and it is based on fugumod and g3mod I decided to go for astrum which is based on samsung.
Results:
It showed great results for now. RZ Recovery packed with kernel is really great. Simple to use, has better interface...
Kernel also gives possibility to use Data2SD (hybrid) and OC to 1ghz (I preffer myself 800 mhz with lagfree governor)
Also, as it simply wasn't enough for me, I decided to go for CMbins 0.3.1 made by hillbeast.
OFC, it gave great boost to the phone...
I was thinking that there isn't much possibility to make it any better but once again I proved myself wrong...
that's a great idea though fugumod is a bit outdated.
any idea on how to enable hd2sd on that? otherwise i ll wait for hillbeast or moikop to iron the bugs on theirs...

No idea, sorry... To be honest I'm waiting for kyorakernel or astrum kernel too. Fugumod is solution because it's the best kernel for now, even outdated...
s'funny, i was thinking about this yesterday, i'm having problems with a gps app, dev thinks its because of custom rom. that got me to thinking about smonic (member) who is/was using stock jpu.
i was wondering if you could flash stock jpu, then g3mod 2.2.2 as kernel? then you would have cwm, extended power memory etc.
sd carc partition would also work?? (methinks? i have a lot of apps, and i use pretty much all of them!)
is this scenario viable????
pretty much a noob at these matters, i get it all, but i dont!!

Of course it's viable I'm advising everyone to flash eclair and take froyo supplied from your provider via kies
problem there was i flashed froyo because my provider wanted me to hand in phone and have it sent off to be updated, taking 2 weeks...
thats why i began on the slippery slope to flashing and rooting
but flashing stock jpu from the list somewhere on this site should work too? or not?
edit- maybe we should start this as a new thread, kinda hijacked this one....not intended @shadowmaniac.

If kies detects your phone you should be on your way to update. It probably wouldn't want to update it but will download ROM in temp folder. You can take it from there and flash via odin.
Hello to this great community.
As the title says what is your experience with the Rom+ kernel you are using? Battery life, stability etc
This is not about asking what the best Rom is (something that doesn't exist) but about sharing our configurations (roms kernel other tweaks) and how it works for us:
Roms
Kernels
Mods (xposed modules etc)
And the experience we had with those.
A disclaimer: There is no best Rom !!
Discuss only the set ups you have on your Moto G! [emoji6]

I'm using this unofficial rom. Boringly, it just works for me. No issues.
No mods - just the wallpaper changed I think. Since we all use our devices in slightly different ways,...your experience with the same rom may be different from mine.
Mine is something like:
Stock 4.4.4 no root because I don't want to lose my warranty from now.
Coming from a LG 2x this one is super fluid and fast but unlocking the bootloader is such a pain.
Im using Stock 4.4.3 with Aero Kernel! Great battery life and performance!

Assuming this is not a specific problem with the nightly: Did you ever use GPS successfully on stock rom before? On a different CM11 before? If not, then:
- ensure you have latest recovery,
- make nandroid of your CM11 rom,
- flash or restore stock rom
- use gps in stock rom
- restore your CM11 nandroid
GPS should now work. It did for me.

I want something simple and stable with wifi working and not draining battery... is XPerience 8.0.0M10 good for this? or any other?
i just got the xt1031 (boost mobile) 8gb version. i am so happy to see development on here but i do worry about the storage. does the root and roms take up? i and how can i maximize space? i know on previous phones i always had a 32gb memory card so i was never worried bout that but with this one i am lol. any help would be appreciated
I like C-ROM, bis stable, fast, smooth but have three problems, the GPS didnt work, the long boot, sometimes take 10min to restart and the CPU Min and Max bug. All this in the last version 7.1
I have tried others like DU, AOSB but have basically the same problems.
Is any ROM more stable that this?

thx, currently I'm on XPerience 8.0.0 M10 kernel with custom CM11 ROM and it's working fine...
