Hello everyone,
Just as a warning: you will LOSE your S-OFF if you apply the upcoming Froyo OTA directly from T-Mobile and be UNABLE to S-OFF again. IEF (AlphaRev developer) has not been able to hack the new HBOOT 1.0 (for Legend and Espresso) which will be distributed with the new Froyo OTA for our device. If you apply the OTA via the T-Mobile firmware update tool or through a zip-file provided directly by T-Mobile you will be permanently stuck S-ON.
The ONLY safe way to keep your S-OFF is to use Froyo ROMs provided by developers in the Developers section.
Hope this saves some sanity for others, but unfortunately I'm stuck S-ON now.
Wor. This is big. Thanks for the heads-up. I almost just did it to "play around".

It's not out yet, so you couldn't have done it. CR's ROM is not fully-stock... it has been modified to add root and remove the HBOOT.
I was referring to the official T-Mobile OTA firmware which isn't even being pushed to phones yet, but it will be SOON.
Really? I still have S-ON ever since I gained root lol
I haven't done S-Off....

Come on nbetcher, you should have known better. Remember how OTA's bork your root access - it (to me) would be apparent that they would do the same for s-off. Is HBOOT a different version now though?
Their isn't a way to restore the old hboot? Wouldn't loading the stock 2.1 fix that?

How do I exactly know that I'm getting an OTA update from Tmo? I noticed my sync icon in the notification bar has been showing since I booted my new slide.
Is that saying I'm getting one? will a box popup? what?
thanks for any information.

I have heard that the slide will not get the OTA update. It proly has something to do with this merger with AT&T. They are going to want everyone to buy new phones now and offer all of these crazy deals for everyone just to trap you.

Later this month sounds about right. The G2 was released. If T-Mobile gave us froyo before the g2 was released then people who have the Slide won't get the g2. Its all about marketing. The only thing is, why would a rep tell you that before that information is even released to Engadget, etc. (no offense)

I would think they want as much people who have the slide to simply just run impatient and switch over to the g2. Marketing! I don't think the reps get news before us. They're not the major players (no offense to any reps who are reading). I think they get the news the same time as us or at least a day or 2 before us, but then again I could be wrong.

You can root and then simply unroot to get your warranty back, but I don't suggest you root. Its not easy to root the slide, also alot of people who root the slide switch back to stock because they realize that not everything works with a flashed rom.

I do not mean to be rude, but this has been discussed before. According to Adobe our phone's processor lacks the mhz to run flash smoothly. I honestly think with Froyo 2.2 our phone should be able to handle flash 10.1, but that's just my opinion. Who knows, Adobe might surprise us and give us flash anyway.

Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Actually... if you google "flash 10.1 eclair 2.1" you get a guide as your first result on how you can get full flash on any 2.1 rom... sorry people who are running 2.2 but it only works if you have some sort of flash lite on the phone... as long as im aware... all 2.2 roms are based from source... which does not include any form of flash lite... basically, what it does is upgrade you flash lite to flash 10.1... it works perfectly for mee... i tried running it at 600 mhz... it ran too choppy... i would recommend using dumfuqs overclocked kernels to about 868 mhz... which is what im running... and it runs really smooth...

new to the game, i was originally rooted with unrevoked but with the upgrade to gingerbread i had to unroot and lost everything. just tried to run revolutionary.exe every thing runs fine until I say yes to internet update, it starts then stops due to error.
help please, I had the a red triangle but with searching i was able to find pc36img_recovery.zip ran that and it fixed the red triangle issue, but the recovery. file only had one img. where would i find the current pc36img for my evo4g, my Evo 4g is one of the 1st released.
REvolutionary is amazing, had to get a refurbed evo that came with update and was stuck with a stock phone for two weeks till this tool saved my life and 3 of my friends as well
how do we revert back to stock?
didnt work on mine 2.3.3 ,4.24.651.1 kept giving me invalid beta key even with copy/paste method..
So I recently unrooted my phone to have Sprint connect it to their services. I updated to the newest software version 2.3.5 but, nothing changed as far as the sense goes. It's still the same old sense since like 2.2. And what I mean it doesn't have the theme changer or shortcuts in the drop down menu. Am I missing something?
I remember unrooting my old EVO to see what the OTA updates were like a while back and seeing the new features. But I remember having to install that update via Sync. Problems is I looked on HTC's website and all over googleville and couldn't find it anywhere. Can somebody please help me with this? And possibly refresh my memory on how to do it via Sync. Thanks in advance.

HTC never updated us to sense 2. Kinda sucks really...HTC even updated phones with less ram and slower processors (for example htc wildfire) but left us with the OG EVO on the old original Sense.
Kinda bullsh*t if you ask me but whatever at this point I get to upgrade in Novemeber, though I would still like to see sense 2 before then.

You had quick settings in the Notification pulldown and the Sense 3.0 lockscreen stock on your EVO? I don't think so . . .
I am running stock software and I can assure you it does not have quick settings and the unlock screen is the same as my old Hero had so there is no difference. You can download the app called quick setting which will give you the settings in the pull down menu but this is not from HTC.

You have to use HTCDev.com to unlock the bootloader on the 2.3.5 version, which allows you to get root. The only other exploit is TacoRoot, which allows you to downgrade to a version rootable with unrEVOked or Revolutionary (you can likewise downgrade after unlocking with HTCDev).
