Anybody know how to assigned Task Manager to the slideview button? So swithching from one application to another would be easy by simply pressing the button.

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if it is somehow possible to do the following:
I would like to assign a long press of the Comm Manager button to the Task Manager application.
So far, i have tried HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C5 and editing the info in there so that a long press activates \windows\taskmgr.exe instead of the default sound recorder. After saving the registry changes and resetting the device, the button still activates the sound recorder.
If this cant be done, cant another button be assigned to open task manager?
Is it possible to do this manually or perhaps obtain a cab file to make the changes?
Thanks
No worries, managed to do it using AE Buttons Plus
Accidentally screwed over some files >.>
I got same problem. I assign task manager to x-panel manager button, unfortunately it change camera button to run task manager too. After removing assignment camera button not working.
AEButton assign camera button together with panel button, recognizing them as one (ctr key).

Use the OK key instead and assign a long press for task manager and a short press for ok key.
It works flawlessly
HOW do you assign a button? You need a program for that? If so, is there a way to assign the voice command to a button?

Maybe, but I cant help a lot here, VC is not available in Italian, and I feel a bit stupid talking with a machine in English
So, I never used it.
Well, you could use German or French to talk to your phone too
I will give this program a try. And report back. By the way, what are you using this for? And if one assigns only 1 button, will the rest be changed too, or only that one. Don't want any more trouble with the X2.... if I can avoid it
By the way, what are you using this for?

I use (and used it for years) it mainly to remap the volume rocker as a "fake jog dial" (very handy to read ebooks) and because the AEBP task manager is quickest task manager to use when you have to quick swich from an app to another or to kill a stuck application w/o messing with the touch screen.
It's kind of frustrated for me.
When I have two applications running, for example, GPS and Email reading. In order to switch to GPS from Reading, I have to click Start->Home, where I have shortcut for Task Manager. Open Task Manager, from there, I can switch to GPS application.
Any other faster ways? Really miss that TAB switching in regular Windows OS....
I personally use LMT with task fascade. They work very well with each other.
try WkTASK.
or arkswitch...

You just extract alttab.exe and copy it to your Program Files and assign a button (I assign Windows button) to it with e.g. AEBplus:
http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
Then this works just like Windows Alt+Tab by pressing just one button - you switch between your opened apps (home panel included though)
Also, you (just like me can assing a wonderful task manager
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=655853&highlight=mm+task+manager
to the green button, using same AEBplus (I use green button for calling a phone maybe only twice a day). Then you have two very quick ways to see/switch your running programs
Just for info: Windows button is the very center hard button, Green button is the very left button on HD2.
I mean that I never use the green button - I just use soft button (quick link on the home) to open the Phone, so using the green button to open MM Task manager is extremely convenient.
Thanks a lot, I will try tonight.
Dutty's task manager, MMTaskManager, Showcase, XTask just to name a few of the top of my head
duttys task manager is the simplest and best

If you are using WM 6.5.x Arkswitch is the best taskmanager imo.
Is it possible to assign a specific program for long pressing the home hardware button? It would be fantastic to switch between programs easily by accessing a list of open programs by long pressing home.
Android has a version of that:

Hi Guys,
I'm new with my HD mini, got tons of experience with other HTC devices.
I ran into a problem. How do I close an program?
Like, when I use file explorer, and I want to close it.
There is no exit in the Menu of file explorer.
And the Home, Windows and arrow button won't close it.
When I look into Task Manager, everything is still running.
Is there a way? or do I need to map the close application option to a button?
Sharky
Some apps can be closed by the "back" button.
Others have a close-button inside the app itself or must be closed with task manager.
Did not found another solution for this.
Thanks codiak, but no real help there.
I tried to use AE Button Plus to map the BACK button (arrow button) to the CLOSE command, but it can't be done. Does someone have an other option to assign close to a button?
i haven't found a solution so far, but i use spb mobile shell so there's a shortcut to the task manager on my home screen
it's not THE solution either but i close thanks to 'ArkSwitch'
just have to touch the top bar and then i close programs
If you've got a faster solution, i'm interrested in.
Not realy related to this post, but anyway:
On my old HTC Elf it was also possible to close the services via task manager. On the mini you can only view them.
Did someone found a solution for that?
You can have the missing X button back if you do what i've written here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6740128&postcount=9 After that you can use ameba (or any other) in order to make the X button really close the running apps. Hope i helped
Use the stock Task Manager to close apps. You can assign it to the long-press end button. So that you can bring it up from anywhere anytime. Or click the task bar, then Task Manager. You can also find it in the Start menu.
From the Task Manager list, click on the app you want to close, then click End Task softkey. Alternatively, you can click and hold the app in the Task Manager list, a shortcut menu will pop up, then click End Task.
Hi,
with AEbutton plus a Taskmanager is included. I have connected this with the longpress Windows button. there you can close via touching the red cross. Not very comfortable but it works if you have AEB anyway.

Zalaros, I think you have the winning answer (for me).
There is my lovely X button again. Although it doesn't close yet. I will look into ameba.
Please post your ameba alternatives here, since I don't know any.
Funny how please "solve" this problem for their own. Thnx everyone
ZapIt
I installed ZapIt (found here) and then copied \Windows\Start Menu\Zap IT!.exe to \Windows\EndKey.exe
It closes any program by longpressing the End key.
I Installed AMeBa and the Settings app by Scarecrow420 and I must say I'm a happy camper
Now I'm at the point of removing my task manager shortcut from my today screen, cause I don't need it anymore.
Thanks for the comment wensing, but I won't be needing it. Ameba give me more options for more buttons.
