Long press home button --> Task manager ? - Touch HD General

Is it possible to assign a specific program for long pressing the home hardware button? It would be fantastic to switch between programs easily by accessing a list of open programs by long pressing home.
Android has a version of that:

Hardware close button...

Is it possible to assign a real close function to a hardware button?!
I am aware of the fact that you can set the functions of the four
hardware buttons and that there is an option "Ok/Close", but even
when I have Pocket Plus and Wisbar Advance installed, it still uses
the original Close function (which in fact just minimizes the application).
If it's possible to actually close an application by pressing for instance
the calendar button (the one under the "hang up" button), you can use
the phone for 80% of the time one handed. The start menu pops up
when you hold the calendar or contacts button and press the function
key and when you have an item highlighted, holding the function key
will bring up the option menu. Now I only want a way to actually close
an application by pressing a hardware button, cause the X button in
the right-top corner is a real pain in the......
I use AEBplus and I have SPB Plus 3.0 installed.
I assign the Calendar button as follows:
- press once for Agenda Fusion Week
- press twice for Close Application (not minimize)
- press three times for Suspend (equivalent to Power button)
It is really convenient.
But how do you assign "Close Application" to a button, cause I can't seem to find that option. Or is it because I'm using Pocket Plus 2.5, is it a new function in 3.0?
Ok, it's a function in Pocket Plus 3.0!! That makes me real happy . (Only it feels a bit unstable in comparison to 2.5, but thats what you get for messing with beta's)

Modify Button Actions

Is there some way of being able to modify all the buttons? (For example the video call button?)
Or add applications to the pick list of applications and events that can be assigned to the button in the standard Button Settings control?
For some reason Windows Media Player doesn't show up, and I would like to assign it to a hard button.
Also it would be nice to have a buttont that locked the device.
Zilch.
Try this:

Assigning volume buttons as scrolling up/down

Is there possible to assign volume control buttons as up/down scrolling?
There can be options
- better is if on home screen they works as volume control, for applications as scrolling
- always scrolling
- scrolling only in certain applications
?
Also, is there possible device tilt for scrolling?
maybe you check "AE Button Plus". a lot of discusiion around here
Is is possible?
Yes it is possible - I use it.
I have set it up do do exactly as you as you ask where a "short press" of the up/down volume buttons will scroll up and down and a "long press" will change the volume as normal.
You can download it here http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
Thank you!
AE Button Plus is good application and it works, but it's not free.
Now I try HButton 2.3

Question guys,
How do I map the call button to long press (like the smallest long press ever) to get the Start menu?
Thanks

The unregistered function is almost fully functioning.
I recommend it.
I bought the app as I use it all the time and thought it fair to the developer even though I don't actually use the additional functions in the reg version.

You should be able to map long press send, long press end and long press power. It should work like the Fuze. Check out this articles but I bet it's identical:

Here's one on making it the start menu: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1249
The mapped long press buttons take 3 seconds or so...not sure it's great for that unless you try DredSensor but then you'd lose a physical button (short press) to something else...
Is the long press timeout option in the settings the time one has to "long press" in order to trigger what he sets? Coz you can set it from 200ms to 900ms. I am guessing this is the time required to trigger a long-press response/activation.
I would suggest you send an email to the AEB developer. I did once and he responded in the same day.
He could probably guide you much (v. much) better than I on all the options in AEB+ (including "long-key press mode")
thanks Dave.
For a temporary fix,(or perhaps a preferred alternative?) I have set up volume to scroll up and long press (which is barely a second) to start menu (shows quick menu not original start menu) and volume down to scroll down and long press of it to ok/action. This way I can pull down the start menu with a little press, scroll up/down and then select an item or enter the submenu using the down button.

How do I go to home screen?

Hello,
I have 6.5.5 custom ROM on my device and trying to figure out how to navigate to home screen? I used Diamond before with dedicated home button but on this phone it does not have dedicated home button, so how do I do that?
Thanks,
G

just press the end call button. or you can go to start>settings>personal>buttons then set it to where one of the hardware buttons takes you to home.
Long Press End Key has 2 different tabs under Settings/Button. One on the settings application itself and another one under "program buttons". The one on the settings application itself overrides whatever I put into "Programs Buttons" for long hold of end key. Any ideas?

[Q] Change Functions Of Home Button?

I have a 9505G rooted, and I'd like to change the funcitons of the home button. Specificaly, there are two changes I'd like to make.
1. Disable the home button while the phone is locked. While the phone is locked and asleep, I can use either the power button or the home button to wake the phone. I want to disable the home button here, so that only the power button can wake the phone. I find that while my phone is in my pocket, it often wakes up "on its own", presumably because I'm accidnetally pressing the home button against my hip, chair, whatever...
2. Launch the recently-used apps list by holding the home button. On previous devices I've used (such as the Galaxy Nexus), holding down the home button would bring up the list of recently-used apps. With the S4GE, the long-press brings up Google Now, and a double-click is required for the recently-used apps list. I'd like to change this behavior so that a long-press brings up the recent app list, and double-click does nothing.
Can this be done, and if so, how? Thanks for your help.
