Hi guys!
yesterday I finally decided to install Android NAND. Everything worked just fine - BIG thanks to all developers at this point!
There's only one big problem: it seems like Android doesn't find my sd-card. I can access, format, write and read via my cardreader, but in Android's SD-card settings there's no sd-card available.
things I tried to do:
removing sd card: android says, that the card has been removed
rebooting system without wifi: no changes
formatting sd with fat32 in windows: no changes
here some general information:
android version: 2.2
kernel: 2.6.32.15-g66f6ed7-dirty
baseband: 15.40.50.07U_2.12.50.02_2
please can anyone help? thanks in advance!
OK, here's an update:
I just tried another micro sd from a friend's galaxy I9000 - and it works! Though, I don't think, that my own sdcard is broken, since I can work with it via the cardreader.
One thing could be important: earlier I formatted the sdcard for using it as goldcard. Therefore I have been working with a tool called PSAS. I guess, this changed something. Can this process be reversed?
Thanks for your replies!

I don't think that using your SD-Card as goldcard is the problem, i've done the same with my SD-Card and it works without Problems.

Hey Everyone
I've got a Hero from 3 network in UK and i want to install the latest generic stable official firmware rom onto it(if this is the fastest possible ROM). how would i go about doing this?
FW version: 1.5
Baseband: 63.18.55.06iu_6.35.08.22
Kernel: 2.6.27-430d1aea [email protected] 951
Build: 2.73.771.62 CL 80033 release-keys
soft: 1.0.0.A6288
Dont mind doing tricky stuff, not a comp noob, just new to HTC devices
thanks in advance
Hi, welcome to the forums
what you need to do is create a goldcard, what this does is bypass the cid check when upgrading your rom, CID stands for carrier ID it stops people on branded devices flashing generic roms, you will find all the info you need in this thread
i hope this helps

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the phone doesn't completely emulate a card-reader in USB Storage mode. It mounts the /sdcard/ partition as a usb device, but you need access to the boot sector of the SD card.
Attempting to manipulate the boot sector of the card through the phone's USB connection may produce undesirable results.
Best case: It works!
Worst case: Your phone stops booting, because you accidentally altered the phone's boot sector instead of the SD card's.
Hi all.
I'm not really sure if this is the right place to put this, but it's driving me right crazy. Here's some background:
I have a G2 Touch (Hero) on T-Mobile.
I was running T-Mobile Android 1.5 on it, build 2.73.
A while back I did the goldcard thing, but never updated the ROM, as I heard a rumour that 2.1 was coming soon enough.
I got the "prep" update for 2.1, which broke my phone (hazard triangle screen). I read on forums that I needed to reflash the T-Mobile ROM and then it would work fine.
I took a ROM I'd downloaded which I thought was the T-Mobile ROM... you can see where this is heading... I have no idea what ROM it was or where I got it from, but it was probably one I'd downloaded in the goldcard setup.
Anyway, the mystery ROM loaded fine, as did the prep update. I then got the 2.1 update, which also loaded fine.
There's the history - I'll apologise now for that.
Currently my phone is running as follows:
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.11
Kernel version: 2.6.29-063c4d24 [email protected] #1
Build number: 3.32.405.1 CL191507 release-keys
And so to the problem:
Since updating, I seem to have no permission on my phone to write/delete files. For example, putting an ebook file into the books folder of my sdcard just won't let me. I can do it via my PC using the sdcard as a drive, but I need to be able to do it on my phone so the book reader picks it up.
Can anyone help with my stupidity?
You could try to backup your files from the SD Card to a computer, put the SD Card back into the hero. And go to settings, and choose to format the SD Card.
Then place the files back to the SD Card from the computer.
Don't know if it will work, but it's worth a shot?
I thought about that - but then I thought would that cause trouble with the goldcard thing I did on the SD card?
Okay.. I formatted my sd card to no luck. I then removed my book reader (Aldiko). I then uninstalled the file manager (Astro), as it refused to delete the Aldiko folder on my card. Then I installed Linda File Manager which was able to delete folders from my sd card. I then reinstalled Aldiko and it loaded books fine. Beats me.
I'm guessing these programs were having issues following the update to 2.1, but a reinstall seems to be the cure.
Did you sort this? I'm having a similar issue, can't write to my SD card..
I get this error message when I try to change permissions: "sdcard permissions cannot be changed because the file system is read-only."
uh yeah - see my previous post above yours!

Hey Guys,
I've installed MattC froyo build on my HD2 which is running energy 28-Aug Windows ROM, but when I launch android I get the error Failed to mount SD card and it stops there...
I've searched numerous threads on this for last 2 days, many users face this problem, but I haven't found any solution for it. I think a sticky on this would be helpful to many.
I've made many changes suggested to startup.txt for fixing the issue, but none are working
What should I doooooooooooooooooo
praiparing sd card
i have the same problem . it doesn't work with extented battery.you have to change your battery with the original of htc.
Dude, i'm using the standard battery only..
What i tried so far..
- Used the other startup.txt that is present as attachment in mattc's thread...doesn't help and phone hangs after first 4 commands..
- Modified "set cmdline "rel_path=Android"" with "set cmdline "rel_path=Android loop_partition=mmcblk0"" in the startup.txt
- Moved everything from Android folder to root
None of them works

Backup everything and re-format your sd card with this world standard formatting software read more here and then re-load your android built and try again... good luck!
ok found a solution...turns out you can't use Macbook's Disk Utility to format the card even though it says FAT32 in format options...
Formatted using Windows Laptop and now its loading Damn Apple , we should mention it in one of the android stickies
In windows 7 happens the same, I formated the the sd card with windows 7 and tried several "Android" build without luck
and, Finally I formated the Sd card with the application above AND IT WORKED thank you....
ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG!!! I SPENT 3 DAYS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT DOESN'T MOUNT.
the world standard formatting software REALLY DOES WORK!!!!
1. put your micro sd card into a micro sd reader
2. put it into computer
3. run the program.
4. put micro sd card back onto your phone and
5. LAUNCH ANDROID AS YOU normally would
WOW WOW WOW
I'VE LOST 10 HOURS OF SLEEP OVER THIS... PHOUCH ME!!! FINALLY WOW........
PHEWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Formatting with this util sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/ enabled my microSD card to be mounted in Android FRX04.
Thank you.
Hello,
So unfortunately i must write in to this forum because i am a newbie
I work for it since 3 days and searched for solutions but now i must ask, because i tried this 15 times and it doesn't work...
This helps me a bit ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815 ), but no one have this problem...
So i want a dualboot on my hd2 with win phone 7.5 and android on one sd card (later change the boot in magldr when it works).
Okay first i load the storage lock on my hd2 to unlock the card then i put it off and take the sd card in a reader to change the partitions (like in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTHRAUHZHlo&feature=relmfu ). In the video it works to put on the phone after this changes, but on my hd2 i take the sd card into the phone an after the reboot comes only that the storage card changed and is damged. the only way after this is to turn off the phone and do a hardreset...
Is there a solution for my problem that i can change the partitions and take the sd card into the phone to boot win 7.5 normally?
thank you
Hey, I´m guessing you are on xbmod/yukis WP7 Rom?!

SDCARD & ANDROID RELATED CABS:
Download link
These files change the size and format of the SDcard extrapartition
This partition is used as working part for updates and to save logs
It is usually formated as FAT16 and sized of 200MB
So choose the file which the number of GB you want, send the cab to device and Reset
The first partition will have the new size now and already formated in FAT32
So you can use it as USB key or for Androïd without having to do it manually
Take care if you reset again datas on it will be lost
If you want to revert back to FAT16, 200MB just use DEV_EXTRAPART_REMOVE and reset
This feature is to be used beside DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab
With this tool you can unlock your SDcard
The card will be relocked after each reboot to WP7 what is a security in case of stolen device
So use the tool each time you want to boot to Androïd or use SDcard as USB key.
DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab
this will install unlock tool for your sd card (possibility of dualboot)
DEV_STORAGELOCK_REMOVE.CAB
(remove unlock tool take care sdcard will be relocked at reboot.)
(those need a reset from about screen)
DEV_EXTRAPART_10G.cab
DEV_EXTRAPART_12G.cab
DEV_EXTRAPART_14G.cab
DEV_EXTRAPART_16G.cab
DEV_EXTRAPART_18G.cab
DEV_EXTRAPART_1G.cab
DEV_EXTRAPART_20G.cab
DEV_EXTRAPART_2G.cab
DEV_EXTRAPART_3G.cab
DEV_EXTRAPART_4G.cab

Forget about the thread you quoted in your post. It is a good thread, but
1. it won't work with xbmods WP7 Rom and
2. it is too complicated
Xbmods method is super easy, worked perfectly for me. Follow the instructions including the hard reset and you are good to go...
Greetz Ric
hey
it works
okay a bit stupid, but what must i do at next
Do the Sd card in the card reader and put android on it (and change then the files) or is there something before like in the video?
thanks
Hey,
just to clarify, you already sent the "DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab" and the "DEV_EXTRAPART_8G.cab" (8GB just for example) to your device?
Then you have to use the storagelock app in WP7 to unlock the card.
When unlocked take the sd card out of the device, put it in a card reader and connect to PC.
If you are undecided use this android build: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652
This build includes optional rootfs.img that allows to boot build from magldr (!readme! in /sdcard/Android/SDMAGLDR)). So read the readme file that comes with it, exchange the 2 files and then copy the android folder (The whole folder!!!) to the root of your sd card!
To boot android, you have to choose it from Magldr. I think it's point 3 and is called Boot AD/SD.
If you need more help booting Android from Magldr just yell, then I have to restart my device and look it up ;D
Greetz Ric
hey ;D
so i do this steps and it works fine thanks a lot for your help
Thanks, you are nice
Hi,
I intended to post this question to the [3.Nov.2012][ROM] NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 V1.2 [NativeSD] thread, but not allowed to (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32624318)
Can someone help me redirect the question? Thanks!
First thanks for the great ROM, tytung. It looks great and easy to install.
I have a HD2 and wanted to dual boot WP7 and Android. Found this new method NativeSD and decided to try it. But once I installed the ROM (through MAGLDR 1.13 and Recovery 4Ext 2.2.7), everything works fine, except that the camera app (and other apps) says that it cannot find the external SD card to save the pictures. It does not give me options to save on phone. But since both system and data are on external SD, and that partition is treated as /mnt/sdcard0, I am not sure if I am supposed to have an external SD card from the perspective of Android.
Cannot seem to find similar post with this issue, so I must be doing something wrong with partitioning. Could you help??? Thanks so much! I am inches away from having a great Android JellyBean experience on my HD2.
Thanks!!!
-----------------------------------
Details:
4 partitions on my 16GB SD card:
1) FAT32, 3GB (this is the boot partition, where I installed Recovery 4Ext and through it, installed the boot files in /NativeSD)
2) Ext4, 8GB (this is the system/data partition, where installation put all Android files)
3) Ext4, 2GB (this is current empty, reserved for another ROM that requires two partitions)
4) Other, 2GB (this is a WP7 partition)
I formatted these using Mini Partition Tool on Windows (not via Recovery 4Ext)
I think you need to run CHKDSK on your FAT32 partition of the card with fix option, once, using a card reader and computer. Once done, put the card back to your phone and boot to your preferred Native SD rom. Then check whether you applications are able to trace the SD card. Should work, since the same worked for me, when I had a similar issue. Hope that helps.

Hi dheerajk27, thanks for your quick reply. Was wondering
1) should Android JB think that I have an external SD?
2) where will this external SD be mapped to? The Fat32 partition? The same Ext4 partition as system & data?
3) what would chkdsk do? I just want to make sure that it doesn't mess up the Win 7 stuff as well.
Thanks!
Hi braveliquid, welcome to the forum.
Did you set all your partitions as primary using minitool?
1. yes
2. depends photos/music => fat part, apps=>ext part
3. not sure either

Thanks for your reply. Upon multiple trial and error, I found out that the logical partition is the culprit. When I have 3 primary (FAT32, Ext4, Ext4), Android can recognize the ext SD card. However, when I have 3 primary and 1 logical (the Win Phone 7 partition is made logical by windows), then Android does not recognize the ext SD card anymore.
Any thought on how I can resolve this? Or else I will have to keep 2 SD cards, one for WP7, and one for Android. Doable, but a bit of a hassle.
Thanks!
use minitool and set your wp7 partition as primary too.
Problem solved.
you could use two cards, i am at the moment (I keep spare card in a cellotape pocket on inside of battery cover). You can also dual boot without partitioning see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34009754&postcount=1126 but only really as a backup phone in case wp7 goes wrong and you are away from pc.

Thanks Robbie. Yes, I have set the WP7 partition as primary and then it works! I am liking the Android experience (have been using iPhone).
Btw, in WP7, it is asking me to update software (I have a very old WP7 installation, migrated to dual boot in early 2011 i think). Can I just upgrade WP7 like normal (i.e. by connecting to Zune)? Or will that destroy MAGLDR? If that won't work, how can I upgrade WP7 to 7.5 or later 7.8? I cannot use Windows Market Place apparently with the old WP7 OS.
Thanks again!

I would just flash one of the new wp7.8 roms, your choice which. Ansar's does not seem to be able to use the new wpbackup app at the moment.
With Hd2o and pdaimatejam you can backup your phone and restore apps sms calls etc. Sooo much better for trying out new roms.
