Honeycomb System Dump Files - Droid X General

This was posted on Droid Life.
Are our ROM developer's going to be able to use this to do some cool stuff with this?
I'm just curious.

I'm guessing they may be able to pull some app builds out of it, and some images...but I don't know that the X will run 3.0 without a kernel update... Just a guess.

1.6/2.0/2.1 with the kernel that HTC just released?

I was wondering why its been so quite after HTC released the new kernel for the Sprint Hero, I thought that was the missing link that was needed for complete 1.6/2.0/2.1 roms?
It hasn't been quiet.
Also the kernel that HTC released needs to be ported to 2.6.29 to fully work with 1.6+.
All this info is on the forum & easily obtainable.

I just thought we would see some 1.6/2.0/2.1 releases now that the kernel was released, that's all
There's been 1.6+ releases for a while...
Let me elaborate a little here:
This kernel that was released is not a magic bullet, it allows us to see what code needs to be changed to get the correct Kernel to run these newer versions. It also lets us make any performance changes we can find.
All of the changes need to be put into the current kernel source, making it a .29 or whatever we need.
It has been fairly quite, we aren't seeing tons of Roms being thrown out to the market, thankfully. Our devs are taking all the time they need to make sure everything works and is stable. We should see some big stuff happen in the next week or so.

Good to know, I guess I'm like a kid in the candy store, thanks for educating me on the kernel process.

Droid Eris 2.6.29 kernel source available

It seems that HTC developer page has the source code for the 2.6.29 Droid Eris (codename Desire) kernel available. Maybe this could be usefull for you developers!

does this mean us leakers can root now?
Sent from my Eris using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
No it doesn't but it does mean a lot more roms for root users
Some people are having trouble seeing it on the site. I upped it to mediafire. Here ya go...

This is what we need to get OC'ing working right?

This is already in all the current ROMs. Now we can start using modified kernels that allow for OC and the like.
PHP:
Yeah that's what I was thinking by I didn't know for sure. But why couldnt we OC before if we already if we already had the kernal?
mmm.......

I don't think you understand what this is. This isn't a rom or a patch or an update. This is the source code to the Eris's kernel. We didn't have this before, we were waiting on HTC to release it.
Do a google search for linux kernel to get a better idea of what a kernel is.

The runnable form of the kernel can't be changed (much very easily, at least). Having the source code renders making real changes to the kernel feasible.
very nice. i cannot wait to come back from vacation to see our phone finally OC'd
YESS! Finally
So this wont help find a vulnerability for us leak users?
It may help find a hole in 2.1 for leakers... But dont get your hopes up to high.. The 1.5 source didn't yield much in the way of root when it was released. Im more excited to possibly see OC on the Eris!!
I'm not a leaker, but there's a thread in General that talks about the incredable being rooted from just the source. That's where you'll probobly find a hole.

It's the most functional Froyo (2.2) ROM to date, working camera/camcorder, blue-tooth, cracked 30 FPS cap, pushing 40 MFLOPS values plus, vanilla Android, this is the ROM everyone's been waiting for.

If I'm running 1.47 build with latest radios then I'm good right? These are not new NEW radios are they?

Why don't all the apps in the market show up? Some apps I downloaded while using dc won't show up in the market...
Could you have chosen a more irrelevant topic to steal the thread with?
Thanks OP.
Been looking forward to cm coming to the evo.
Used it since the g1
Just trying to verify here... ALL the other ROMs I have tried come in around 150Mb, when I clicked the CM6 link, it only shows 66 Mb. Is the ROM really only half the size of all the other ROMs? Is that difference from dropping Sense?
Yea AOSP rom are that much smaller. And don't forget 14 MB for the Gapps.
Can this be used on the EVO? Or why is it for?

Sense, sprint apps, and Google apps. Big things come in small packages
Does Titanium Backup backup the Gapps?
It can, yes.
I understand the ROM part of CM6 and what it entails but can someone explain what Kernel changes have been made to this over the Stock Kernel? thanks.

I'll upload them here as I compile them.

Filename is only going to change when CM7 release name changes (e.g. RC4 -> RC5, RC -> final, etc.), so check the Last Modified date.

No, because these should be functionally identical to the nightly builds. It's just a preference of optimized vs non-optimized builds.

No. RA needs to die. CyanogenMod and ClockworkMod recovery moved on to edify scripting a long time ago.

And I have copies of Darch's 1.7 unofficial which is what I have on my phone now. If you want me to attach the file I will.
Thx Jason working real nice .I have not always been much on modifing alot so the odex versions draw my attention. This makes a nice rom really smooth and so far no glitches.
Optimized version of 7.0 final is up now. Going to mirror this in the CM7 dev thread.

This is great! Downloading now
Just installed the stable7.0 and I must say there is a noticeable overall performance increase. I haven't seen that kind of speed since the early aospGB mod.
Thank you much for this.
Jason, I can't install gapps for the life of me. Am I doing something wrong? I wiped everything, did a fresh install, but Google apps never show after I boot.
Setup:
Wipe everything
Firate
Wipe and reboot
ROM
Gapps 2011325
Firate boot
Boot
Any suggestions?
Jason, I'd like to hear your thoughts (or any technically proficient developer's thoughts) on AutoKiller's new "Advanced system tweaks."
Specifically, I was wondering if any would conflict with CM7, do more bad than good, or which one(s) should (theoretically) offer real improvements.
Thanks!
How did you odex it? I found some scripts to manually do it and I'm working on making a script to do the manual work on first boot of rom. But I'm interested in how you did it?

Desire C - possible port for ICS?

Hello everyone
I noticed that Desire C was introduced.
It's hardware looks very similar to our old Hero.
I'm curious, would it be possible to port ICS + Sense. Not sure about the ARM (6 or 7?)on the Desire, I remember that this caused problems in the past.
What do You guys think ?
Cheers!
brat.haneq
I think that it's not possible. We have from where to port ICS - Eris, HeroC.
But why did you do a thread in Development Area?
Hi there
Yeah, it should be general or qa section, I was so hyped by the possibility of port, that I posted without thinking.
Sorry about that, can someone move this thread to aproptiate section?
Cheers
Brat.haneq

I don't agree, I think this could be possible for many reasons. But what I can say is that if the devs of the Samsung galaxy ace are capable of porting sense 4 to their device, I see no reason ( except ram) that could make us think that the port is impossible
To finish, many people say that ics is in a way lighter than gb, in general. So there is only a sense port remaining.
But as the specs are quite similar...why would it be impossible?

Guys, the DesireC is the Eris. Or have I missed something?
The DesireC doesn't have a Sense ICS build, they have an AOSP build. Our AOSP build is ported from theirs.

yes, I think we're not a lot on this forum but we know we're a good team together ^^,
Look, personally, I would never have thought that ICS would work on our little hero.

Why deodexing it? It's already deodexed for most apks
I'm trying to cook it a bit but this ROM is so HUGE!!
I just can't believe it would be possible to flash it in system/app
I think we'd better try to have as a base the modules from the working ICS, shouldn't we?
----------------------
EDIT 1
Hey hey!! I cleaned up the System/app folder and now it's size is...144MB...without mail, and without calendar...what a shame!!
But System/ stills 376MB...we're almost there!!
We need to be less than approximatively 190MB (accepting the fact that we will need custom mdt partionning)
