This sucks. Everything was going great but for someone reason lately, I am having trouble turning on my XV6800 from standby. Some times I have to hit the power button more then once. Or wait for a couple of seconds then it turns on. It is not dependent on the power button, because when I switched it to turn on when any button is on, it still won't turn on. What does get it out for good is if there is a call or a text that wakes its self up. But other times the power button works great.
I would love to solve this problem! I used SKTools to see what is running as soon as I hit the power button and hit it again to turn on. Both TimeWizard.exe and shell32.exe are at hundred for that second. Is that ok/normal? Have any suggestings before I hard reset?
If I do hard reset, I am wondering if instead of going to MR1 I should go with a WM6.5 rom. Is it really more trouble then its worth? I get about 21 of 22MB at startup (aftering clearing ram in beginning). What's the average for WM6.5 with the titan? I rather fix my problem and not hard reset, hate to reinstall all the software and do all the registry hacks all over again.
edit: Looks like this is an issue (a lot of people had it) that cannot be solved without hard reseting. So I still need to decide what route (MR1 or WM6.5) to go with...
I personally like 6.5. With the inclusion of a tool called nueKernel, many ROMs will boot with up to 28ish MB of RAM in high memory mode on a fresh install. In low memory mode, it's usually between 20 and 22. High memory mode, if you aren't aware, temporarily disables the camera. Low memory mode enables the camera. You can switch back and forth easily using a setting in your System menu.
Also, make note of any tools you currently use on your Today screen. Any third party additions may not exist for the new Titanium layout. There are a bunch of new add-ins for it that will most likely do everything that you need, but do some poking around first. You can also use the older today screen on 6.5 if you can't find what you need for Titanium, but that ruins a lot of the fun.
Since you use SKTools, you can also easily export any registry tweaks you put in, and re-import them on whichever ROM you decide to use. It's fairly easy.
There are a number of ROMs to choose from between XDA and ppcgeeks. Read some of the comments and check out what the chef includes. It will be pretty different than the official Verizon ROM you are used to, but that's usually a good thing. I currently use bbsandkm's 6.5 ROM from ppcgeeks, but that's personal preference. Ryan and TPLane here on XDA make some amazing ROMs that you can use, too.
But before you flash to any non-official ROM, please make sure you read up on the guides to do it properly. It's really pretty simple, but you need to just follow the directions.
Is the around 20MB the amount with Titanium? I love HTC Home since I can use the Today calendar. All these new plugins never show the complete day of apointments.
Yeah I would have to do some reading before I even consider. I do know I would have to downgrade to the original 6.0 OS before going custom. Would I have to go back to 6.0 again and then 6.1 if I decide I don't like 6.5? Already getting scared just thinking about it lol.

In high memory mode after installing all my programs, I start with between 25 and 26 meg free. That is using Titanium.
The only reason (I think) that you'd need to downgrade to 6.0 is if your GPS does not work after your upgrade. And no, you wouldn't need to re-install 6.1 during the process.
Downgrade is necessary if you have a pri of 2.03xx and want gps to work on your custom rom.
I got so sick of this problem I just hard resetted and went for MR1. I will switch to WM6.5 maybe later in the future.
However, I notice my Titan did it again today! It barely has anything on it right now. So I am guessing my memory card might be the problem. So much stuff on it (its a 16GB) like portable apps, every cab I have ever downloaded etc. That's my only guess. Would a memory card be causing this problem?

What you are experiencing is a DSOD (dark screen of death). Usually its because of something installed to your storage card that is always running(not good, things like that need installed to device memory). Also make sure you have no .exe's in the 2577 folder on storage card (if you have the folder).
Here are some possible examples of DSOD's
Disable the automatic ActiveSync checking. This is the official solution from Verizon Data Technical Support.
Do not install software on the storage card that might trigger automatically. That means: Absolutely no today plug-ins, no ring tones, nothing that runs in the background, and nothing that could accidentally be triggered if you hit one of the buttons of your device.
Do not store data that might be accessed automatically. Same thing. Basically, do not store mail attachments on the storage card if you have wireless sync.
Close programs that use the storage card before turning your device off. Magic Button is an excellent tool to do this.
If you do install programs on the storage card, do NOT use the "Programs" window or the start menu to start them. Instead, use a File Explorer to run them. If you use "Programs" or the start menu, that program will be in your list of recently accessed applications in the start menu. So the next time you turn your device on and click on the start menu, the system will access your storage card to load the icon of the application - this will create a noticeable delay of several seconds, if not DSOD.
Don't randomly install crap. Every single piece of software you install could interfere with your system. Limit the software you install to what you really need. Check the forums, some people named a few programs that explicitly did not work for them.
I hope this helps you out.
Wow thanks, that helps a lot!
edit: Not my day. Don't ask me why but I decided to clean some registry after cleaning up my card. Well I deleted something that effects me to not see the verizon mobile site. I posted about it before here. At least now I know what I did wrong with that problem. Anyway, if I were to hard reset, will it revert back to a clean MR1 with all the Verizon stuff? So far I have been just reinstalling MR1 which does it all. The reason I ask is I hate to wait until tonight to do this again. Thanks guys.

Wow, you learn something new every day! Amazing writeup.
It happened again last night but I am thinking it might be caused by the latest SKTools. But not sure since I had it almost a month before this happened. I might go all day without it and see if that is the case. Then if it is the I will get the lower version.
Also, I am going crazy here, which registry edit is to take away the keyboard lag? I cannot remember if it had to do with increasing the gyphe or whatever maybe taking away the speed of the keyboard when it lights up. I just cannot remember. I looked at tons of posts here and PPcgeeks but still cannot find or figure out which one did it. Thanks guys. I need to seriously remember these registry hacks for next time.
ok: it was not SKtools. I put it back on. I decided to wipe my memory card clean and start over. So far so good! Now I will have time to find some registry edits.
hi all
ive been reading this thread re installing android on my HD2,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733752
it says on page 11 might have been before that i need radio 2.10 2.12 , i then started to read this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
about updating my radio but it has several different downloads for radio 2.10 and 1 for 2.12 then below there is some that start 15 so not exactly sure which one to download
i would like to try the latest android version the froyo 2.2, not bothered about it autobooting, i dont mind having to press a button once the phone is running but would like to keep wm as my main os.
here are my phone specs, ive not altered the software in anyway since i bought it.
UK T-Mobile
os version 5.2.2189
manila version 2.5.20121429.0
Rom 1.72.110.4 (86525) WWE
radio version 2.07.51.22.2
flash size 512mb
8 GB sd card
could someone pleasse list exactly what i need links to files would be grate, someething like
step 1update radio to (link to radio download)
step 2 download latest android ( link )
step 3 install android loader
i can follow instructions in the links i gave but just a little unsure which radio and andriod version to get. and as ive seen altering files can ruin my phone i want to be as sure as i can before i start this
in any stage of adding android to my phone will it wipe my memory card ??
can the android part be completely uninstalled ???
i have the usb cable and windows mobile device center so i guess ill wait for a reply.
thanks for reading and hope someone can help me
cheers craig
Hi Craig,
I am willing to help but first read the link AGAIN & AGAIN, if you are still not sure then PM me on my Hotmail.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732380
I have 4 HD2s in my friends including myself, and I am dealing Android on all the 4 devices.
My recommended Android ROM is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859817
Regards
Sid
thanks for reply sid,
i read the post you linked to and updated the radio and Hard SPL, i then downloaded the rom you linked to and copied that to my sd card, clicked the two files and it rebooted as android, seems to work ok,
just one thing if you could let me know is that can i just delete the android folder and be back to normal or when it booted did it copy files somewhere else or is everything contained for androlid os in the android folder,
might try some different roms thats all but would want to remove others first
thanks
Wahaaayyyy, Well Done.
If you want to try another Android Rom than you have to EITHER delete or backup (for future use) few folders such as:
* .android_secure
* .bookmark_thumb1
* .estrongs
* .footprints
* .Mail
* Android
* DCIM (This is the folder where the Camera picture saves !!! IMPORTANT if you want to save the pictures taken from within Android)
* download
* LazyList
* LOST.DIR
* media (I think this folder keeps all the ringtones)
* myalbum
* rosie_scroll
* rssreader
(Dont worry if any of the mentioned is not in your card)
Then again put new rom's android folder in the card & run 2 files as you did.
Important: It is recommended to Format the card each time on FAT-32 (Not Quick Format) for a fresh start but MAKE SURE to save/backup your Windows folders prior to format, and copy them back after format, this will save you from some random rebooting or crashes of Android.
If you want to try an ULTRA FAST Android rom than try this one, as this one uses your HD2s hard chip RAM rather than the RAM through the SD-Card, But this is without HTC sence: (READ the instructions carefully) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870518
Good luck & let me know
Regards
Sid
thanks again for your reply sid,
i tried the other faster version you linked and it seems loads quicker but battery life doesnt seem to be as good unplugged it from charging this morning and used about 80% in about 10 hours, is this normal.when i am running windows it lasts about 2 days before needing to be charged,
also when i booted back into windows i got some errors, saying couldnt run exe files as they wernt signed or something to that effect, after googling the error it turns out afew people had this error after using android, and a hard reset was rthe only cure, i did this and both are working fine so not sure what happened there
what can you recommed to do a complete backup of my windows OS, including installed apps contacts / messages etc, basically a full backup in case it happens again,
thanks for your input already its been much appreciated, the feedback from both the roms is the 2nd 1 is definately loads quicker at loading, also the apps close fully not leaving them running whereas the 1st one seemed to leave them all running unless i was doing something wrong, i just press the back arrow to close them,
the second rom doesnt have loads of pre-installed stuff, which i like beacuse i just put the stuff i need on,
just need to use it a little more to find out where stuff is
cheers craig
Craig the battery consumption is also depends on the speed of the SD card (Class), I am using class-4 16GB Kingston, I have also tried Class-6 16GB but that was sucking the battery allot more than class-4, but class-2 makes it suck as well because it takes more time & provide less info to the rom in the required time, I hope you are catching what I am saying.
So according to my experience "Kingston Class-4 8/16GB" is the most appropriate card to run Android through the card.
Although Android through the SdCard will always consume more battery than any OS on the chip itself, that is why Windows OS is giving us 2 days. There is a way of DELETING Windows OS and install Android on the HardChip through MAGLDR, but I am sorry I can play anything with the SdCard but with the device itself NO WAY.
My aim was to try Android in my hand rather than word-of-mouth, so I can decide about my next device.
About the Windows crash & Hard Resetting, I would suggest you to install/Design all you loving softwares in WinOS and once you finish use "Sprite Backup" (Brilliant application) to take a complete backup of your Windows as well as your Android folders at the same time in one single or two separate Sprite (self executable) files.
My tip to you: Use Sprite Backup in android with the schedule backup (at-least twice a week) of your calls & txt, as Android DO CORRUPT suddenly sometime, OH YES, (Just had a weeping friend this weekend, lost his 150+ txt, woooooohhhhh).
Keep me updated
Regards
Sid
morning sidd,
im using an 8gb class 10 sd card, i read through the post for the rom and it mentioned turning the wifi off as some people will suffer a high battery drain, i had it fully charged last night before bed and this morning its only gone down 7 % on 6 1/2 hours so thats much better, i suppose it was me messing about with it a lot more than usual plus the wifi so ill run it today and see,
ill look in to the sprite backup also, not really bothered about texts so probably wont backup it up as often as twice a week, its mainly the apps n contacts having to reinstall them all the time and more often than not loosing new ones that havent been synced.
you are right about not changing the software on the chip too, leaving it with windows so when i come to sell it will be as it should and the buyer can do with it what he/she likes, also giving the same reason as to why i put android on in the first place, so i can try it for myself and workout the next phone which is about 6 months off
Hi Craig,
According to my experience even the Class-6 was consuming the battery a bit extra than class-4, a normal Android standby MA (Milli-Amps) should be around 3-6mA then you can have a bit more than 1 whole day of battery life. (App called "Current Widget", see attached picture).
If you are worried about the apps to install in the Android than there is also an easy way of installing all your favourite apps at once rather than going one-by-one. In Mdeejay's roms there is a folder "AndroidApps" (\Android\AndroidApps), you can copy your desired APKs in there and on the first time installation Android will install all the APKs automatically for you.
About the HardChip installation side (MAGLDR), you can also revert back your Windows Rom before selling your device through any Windows Rom, but obviously there a procedure for that, and I would HARDLY suggest anyone to read & read before play.
Regards
Sid
heres my finding after a few days of use,
the desire rom mdeejay one is good but it leaves loads of apps running in the background, if from the home screen i slide down for the notifications i can see them across the top and asume from this they are still running which will use the battery faster, to close an app i use the arrow key, (in the darkstone rom i can hold that key and app killed comes up, they dont show in the notification screen)
i do like some features of HTC SENSE though, like the clock and weatjer on the main screen and the friend stream, most of the other apps i wouldnt probably use
the darkstone rom is very fast, kills apps from memory and isnt pre installed with loads of apps which makes it easier to customize as i dont have to remove all the other apps first, the only downside i can see so far is i cant get rid of the adverts, if copied the host file but they are still there even after several reboots.
the other difference in both roms compared to windows is the contact setup, in windows if i goto a contact, i can select messages and it will show me only messages from that contact, same with call logs,so while im in a specific contact the messages, emails, call logs are all related directly to that contact, i dont have to keep looking in different screens
so to conclude
option 1 i would like to run the darkstone rom with the clock and weather widget and friend stream from mdeejays rom, but would like my contacts to be like they were in windows 6.5 but no adds
option 2 would be run mdeejays rom, with the long press back arrow to kill apps and find an app for contacts like windows
if anyone has a suggestion as to how i can achieve this it will be appreciated, thanks
Ok... I have been a member for awhile, reading this and that...
I have been using WM based phones ever since i could remember (minus a small sidekick phase). So, when I found out that WM7 wasnt avail for my HD2... I was quite upset.
I decided to take the plunge and try Android for my SD card. W O W!!!!
Very fast, & functionable. I have stayed away for installing roms and such because of their instability. But this is absolutely beautiful.
Now i haven't updated to the new release that came out this morning, and was wondering if i should because i have been having some small issues.
1. When running WM6.5 since the install, i have had a problem with messages updating on main screen, don't know if it is related or not.
2. This was a fresh install of WM6.5 along with an SD card format. I am not allowed to store any info on card anymore. It's a 16g card, and I don't like to waste space. I no longer have a place for my tunes..... not cool. Not to mention can't store pics, and all the movies I burned via DVDFab.
3. Now I have read that there is a way to 'partition' my SD card, but there are so many ways to do this. I would like to do this with the best way/program so i dont fry my card. Link to the most stable way of doing this would be appreciated.
4. Now as impressed with AmeriCanAndriod as I am.. I have a question about the lockscreen... It is NOT about it's size/fullscreen as i have read on here... But when i walk away and it appearantly locks itself, it goes BLACK. the buttons on the device still light up, but screen will not activate and i have to end up pulling the battery. I have read that this is not advisable since shutting down is where the OS saves it's data to the SD card itself.
Yes, I am as green as it comes to this, but I am not a complete fool. I do try and look up issues pertaining to my problems. I can strip a PC down and rebuild it again in minutes, but phones are new to my tinkering. I love my HD2, and love all the things I have read I can do with it.
I understand that the forced close issue has been rectified in the build released this morning. Can this be confirmed????
Also will I be able to save the data.img and restore my apps and settings i have installed if I want to update to the new release?
Partitioning the SD... Will it cause me to reformat card and have to re-install Andoid on phone?
LASTLY..... Thank You to the AmeriCanAndroid Tean for making a beautiful OS that can easily be installed. Having a dual boot system is perfect for me. All the power and funtionabilty of WM & all the fun of Android. You couldn't ask for more. All the talent in this OS truly shows in this streamless, beautiful, user friendly system.

First off, this is not the place where to post. You should post in the builds own thread located here. Second i know that black screen happens to me as well but what i do is leave it for about 3 min on standby and its cleared up by then. Make sure to have the latest build from the thread mentioned above. And yes you will be able to keep the same data.img from the previous release unless specified. Partition yes you will format but simply drag and your Android folder to your desktop and once you're done drag it back in simple.
Thank You for the reply. I was going to post in the AmeriCanAndroid thread, but since this is my first post. I had a popup tell me I had to post HERE, instead of that thread until I reach 10 posts.
If a Moderator wishes to move this, I have no problems with that. I wanted to post where it was most relevant in the first place. I just want to be able to reply without the 'newbe' restrictions.
Relieved that I can save my things, by saving the data.img file.
Partitioning, would love a link to the best/safest method.
Blackscreen.. So I just hit a button and leave it for awhile? That's not very practical if I had a buisness call to make, or an emergency. Is there a workaround? Can I shut off the Auto Lock?
What folder do I add music, ringtones, movies and other goodies to? Can WM 7 Android share these same files? (as long as they're not OS specific obviously)
Ah, i see your reasoning, no problem. A good guide on partitioning that i used as well can be found here. And well there inst really a fix to the black screen problem and i haven't searched for one since it only happens on boot of Android. What seems to make it come back faster for me is locking and unlocking the phone quickly. And you can just place a folder and name it anything you want on the root of the SD card. Heck you can put all your mp3,photos,documents on the root of the SD card and Android will still pick them up, it doesn't matter. And when you say "Share" do you mean Bluetooth sending? Then yes, you can.
Nope... SD card will not let me install anything while i was hook to puter. I was running WM at the time, not android. That shouldn't have been a problem. I am about to hook SD card directly to copmuter itself and copy files that way.
I have had all music located on card before this install, nicely organized by artist or genre, along with my movies, pics, etc. But wont allow me to do this now. I am little confused about that, unless android locked SD/root to android application only. Since most programs that lock things usually prompt you for user allowances, which i did not see, i am ruling that out as an option. Phones and computers are very similar as i am finding out.
The blackscreen doesn't occur on Droid boot... It happens when it sleeps, hibernates, or whatever you call it. Can not wake it from this state.
The Data.img.... Do i put that in after i update and run android, or do i put it in the very begining when i copy droid folder to SD card?
Thanx
~Bdwlf2~
Yup, android put a 'write protect' on SD card. Trying some format tools now. Had to put a re-partiton on it to get rid of protection, which made it a Bad Disk. So trying a recovery on it now. I refuse to be beatin by an object smaller than my thumbnail. Arrrgh!
Android does not lock the SD card to application only, that's very odd that you cant copy files to the SD card. Maybe its a setting on your computer that wont allow you? And about the black screen problem, there seems to be no one reporting about that on the thread as far i can see. Are you running SetCPU or a Task Killer by any chance? Those make Android behave very odd. If not i would suggest downloading the latest build again and formatting your SD Card and putting Android on it again. You can also move your stuff your desktop and put it back again. About the Data.img, you don't really need to move it anywhere. When there is a new update to the build, i simply extract the contents of the new build to the Android folder on my SD card and over write. Simplest method I've seen yet.

That seems very odd. I've been using this build since February 24th and it has never locked up like that. But nonetheless you found a fix, good work.
No, not running any of those programs. I have extensively swapped data with this card numerous times.
I checked all setting in android prior to putting into puter. In therory, android should NOT write protect the disk, but something did. I have read this happening to others just in XDA forums alone.
Just got disk back to the "good" state using MiniTool Power Data Recovery... Let's take a peek as to see if it works correctly now.
Hmmmm... I think I should have used, repair damage partiton after recovery... still not working.
***scratches head***
I may need another cup of coffee for this.
How about a simple reformat?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
Nope. Tried that.
Windows formatter - no
SD formatter - no
Mini tool -nada
MyDefrag - not
Test disk - running now... pending
Try to reformat the SD from Windows Mobile?
Yup, first option....
Would go partially thru it, then stop. Worked fine yesterday. This starting to become un-nerving.
I will find a way. There is always a way. Unless something shorts/melts/breaks/ or fry's... there is always a way. Just a matter of correct knowedge and tool combination.

Alright good luck.
Trying HDD Regenerator v2011
Seems to be doing something, using limited Demo mode. At least it is identifying the bad sectors.
This one is gonna take awhile. If it works, or i find something that does, I will post. I've read other's have had this problem, and I can save the person buying/tossing out cards.... Then the work is worth it.
57min into it and only scanned 11mb????? This may be a month to scan 16g. If my math is correct. That's 1gig (1000mb) / 11per hour = 90.90hrs to complete 1g of scanning, multiplied by 15 (usable gigs) = 1363.6363hrs or 51.81 days? 51 days to complete scan?!?!?!?! Gonna look for another program. Wow.
Good thing I have a small 2g card. Unfortunately it won't hold 1/2 of my music. Argh, and I just put a 2 HD movies on there.
If you want to partition or format your SD you HAVE to be in Windows Mobile.
Also, if you are repartitioning your SD, I recommend you recreate your data.img or else it will have issues.
I tried to format in WM... Fail. All the files reappeared.
I did notice .android_secure file. That wasn't there before.
I have unmounted, seems like it is remounting itself. I even unmounted and yanked battery immediately. No success.
Yes, Android still boots.... Something in there is locking card. If card was bad, Android would obviously not be booting.
I cant add or remove data from that card. I have tried several programs.
**** Edit****
Please Do Not ask if switch on adapted is locked, I have two adapters, both UNLOCKED... For some reason, my "Spidey Senses" are telling me that I am about to be asked that question. Being asked this will only cause me to "sigh" loudly before i bang my head on desk. Which will still leave me with locked card and now a fresh migrane.
I'm having an intermittent problem where the apps which have been moved to the SD card often (but not always) disappear. They do not show up on my launcher (ADW) and I am also unable to install or update any apps. I haven't seen anyone else reporting a similar problem, but the weird thing is that the same thing happens on my daughter's Epic. Here's what I do know:
1. This only happens with Froyo ROMs. It was happening on my phone with SFR 1.1. I installed a Gingerbread ROM (Swiss Cheese Samsprint) and it went away. However, my daughter is on stock (but rooted) EC05 and the same thing is happening with her phone. Additionally, I installed Urban Inception (a GB ROM) and did not have the problem. But I missed the speed of the custom kernels, so I returned my phone to Froyo (this time SFR 1.2) and the problem is again recurring. So, it seems to be 2.2-specific.
2. I have used Odin to return to stock several times, that has not resolved the problem.
3. I have formatted my SD card (once using Windows and again using the format option on my phone) and that has had no effect.
4. When I boot my phone, the apps on the SD card do not show up in the app drawer. After a few minutes, they often appear, but not always. Again this is true on both my daughter's phone and mine, but only with a Froyo ROM.
5. The phone will usually get through two or maybe three new app installs or updates, then all the rest will fail until I reboot. Again, this occurs on both my and my daughter's phones, and only with Froyo. It doesn't matter if these are market apps or Amazon appstore apps. Once one update or install fails, nothing else will install or update until I reboot the phone.
I suppose I could solve my problem by going with GB, but those ROMs are so much slower than the Froyo ones with custom kernels. Also, I like my daughter being as stock as possible, because she won't mess with her phone and can't always give it to me to fix. I doubt it's a hardware issue because we both have it. But, it also doesn't appear to be a ROM issue, since we have different ROMs. Since it's obviously not common, it must be related to either an app we have installed or something strange that I have done (though her phone has nothing done to it but the one-click CWM 3.0.0.5/6).
Anyone have any ideas for me? I suppose my issue will resolve once we have official GB and custom kernels start appearing for it, but I thought it was very strange that I have two phones that both exhibit a problem that nobody else seems to have.
Thanks for reading all this.
This had been happening to me for a while too. I don't have as many apps anymore and keep it all in the phone and noticed better battery life but still want to be able to use apps2sd

Yes, on both phones.
I just noticed this yesterday. I saw Angry Birds had updated but I didn't get notified in my market. The app was still in my launcher though. Don't know if it matters but I hadn't played it in a long time.
Reinstalling worked and didn't lose any data.

I've had this problem too on the MidnightRom v5.2. It's especially annoying when my kids want to play Angry Birds and they are all installed to the SD card. I have "fixed" the apps not showing up in the App drawer by creating shortcuts on one of my home screens to the apps I have on the SD card. When the apps don't show up in the App drawer, the icon on the home screen looks like a generic "Android installed app". The apps I have on the SD card are: apps that came with my Rom (Video Editor), Apps installed from the Market and Apps installed from the Amazon App store.
*I've noticed* it's more common the icons don't show up in the App drawer or have the wrong icon if I unlock my phone before it completely boots (finishes the Scanning Media twice in the status bar).
edonnelly- if you are "missing" an App, try creating a shortcut for it to see if it's in the Applications list. That way at least you can launch it if you reboot and the app isn't showing up in the app drawer.
schnowdapowda- I'm also using my stock 16gb Samsung microSD card, and I've also formatted it with the same results.
Fast Boot option may be the culprit
This is actually a long-standing problem in Android OS, going back at least two years (donkey's years in this technology!)
Something about the interaction of the OS and an sdcard formated for holding apps creates odd behaviours.
Lots of complicated suggestions have been made, including reformatting sdcard, reinstalling ROMs, changing launchers (the one suggested here) and such.
None of these approaches seems really to solve the problem even in most cases.
What seems to be working for me (at least for the last week or so) is the following very simple tweak.
CUT TO THE SOLUTION BELOW -- SEARCH FOR ////
Some (not all) of my apps moved to SD (all by Titanium Backup Pro) have begun to disappear and (sometimes) reappear without warning after I began to add and delete large Virtual Machines created in QEMU from my 16GB SanDisc class 10 microSD card on my HTC Droid Incredible running rooted stock Verizon Android Froyo 2.2.3. I know this thread is far from my phone's "home base", but from what I can tell this problem with disappearing apps located on an sdcard is NOT determined by hardware or even Android version.
I also happen to use LauncherPro by Federico Carnales instead of the built-in HTC Sense launcher. I noted elsewhere on XDA that a user had suggested that because at least some (maybe all) launchers start before the SD Card that this may be a problem, especially if changes are made to the sdcard that the launcher did not perform, or was not active during their performance by other apps such as Titanium Backup. That fits my situation, because I unmounted the SD, physically removed it to a PC, and added/deleted large VM files to save (lots) of time. No problems of this sort before I did this, so there must be some connection.
I noted that other users have tried reformatting SD, substituting different brands of SD, using newer/older SD etc. None of these reliably helped. So I skipped these options.
//// The (simple!) solution I tried that SEEMS to work (only time will tell!) is buried in the main Android Settings (accessed from the Menu button while in Home screen). Under "Applications" there is a setting "Fast Boot" that I checked long ago and forgot about (it seemed like a good thing to do at the time). The text warns "Turn off to use some Market apps" (that shows the age of my 2-yr old used phone and Android OS -- ohmygosh!-- because it refers to Market rather than Google Play Store!) Anyway, I unchecked the option and rebooted the phone.
Yes, it took a bit longer to boot (maybe a whole minute!), but after waiting about another minute ALL my home screen apps had normal icons and loaded properly. Titanium Backup Pro batch scenarios confirmed there were no apps in a forced uninstalled state (i.e. I had not done the deed, the system somehow had done it or at least rendered the apps "invisible" to Titanium, which decided they needed reinstallation).
The only odd behaviour was that auto brightness was turned off after I unchecked Fast Boot and rebooted. Going into Android Settings > Display and rechecking "auto brightness" took care of that. No other oddities or strange behaviours thus far (but it has only been about an hour).
I will report anything further on this thread only (Samsung Fascinate > Fascinate Q&A > What just happend? apps on sdcard) if anything else requires reporting. Silence implies success!

(I am copying this post to other relevant threads, but will not post anything further elsewhere -- only there. This is a bit arbitrary (especially now that the chosen thread no longer is the most recent active one on this topic), but I hope this approach pleases the XDA sysops/admins)
Just for opinions really ...

ask me?
i would prefer the android ROM, especially GB. smooth and fast for daily use.
coz i have got experience with W7..there's so much lock app or sometimes app/gall is locked too..
but, it's depend on what you need of course..
I was jumping between Nodo and Gingerbread for over a month, as soon as I installed one I missed the other. Then Mango came out and I could no longer decide, so had them both. Now I have Mango and Ice Cream Sandwich. I am still not sure what I would keep if given a choice of only one.
My biggest bug with WP7.5 was inability to transfer .pdf files to be used with Acrobat reader. You could get the reader, but when it came to files it was a whole different scenario, as Zune transfers only media and photos, so there were suggestions of drop box, e-mailing yourself (yeah, the entire library), etc. Now there is a program that gets your files (I believe any files) loaded through USB and my WP7.5 is a lot more useful.
Android is a lot more democratic when playing videos. Full stop. Zune is too finicky with what it wants to play and the whole connect and synchronise routine can't win against the simplicity of plug and drop. So I have 65 movies on my Android and none on my Mango. Mango, however, has my entire collection of family photos from 2002 - all sorted by dates and readily available, my Facebook albums, my friends' albums and whatever else I might need to keep up with anyone I care about.
Mango takes better HD videos and I enjoy just sharing photos on Facebook, including tags and updates. Android allows you to use any tune as a ringtone, the procedure for WP7 is hellish nightmare for uninitiated.
I liked Mango's Zune player, so got it installed on Android, I liked WP7 keyboard with its uncanny word accuracy and prediction - same thing (in fact, after trying a whole lot of keyboards, I think none beats the one that came with WP7, not even in the same league). Even Metro messaging UI was ported over.
Social networking integration, however, places Mango way ahead of Android. The whole concept of People Hub, Pictures, Calendar, Me etc - perfect. And is the biggest reason I like Mango so much.
As far as games and apps - I like Sam, the Personal Assistant. It's similar to Iphone's Siri and I wish WP7 could get one just like it. Navigation, Google Goggles, Places etc - Android, games - Mango. Otherwise apps are more or less evenly spread, depending on your needs, of course. Other e-book format and readers - definitely Android, music - Mango. Zune got all my albums properly arranged, the album art was readily available and all the information was added perfectly well.
I never experienced any problems with Mango, but I did have occasional freezes and mishaps with Android. But then again, I am running Android off SD, the ICS is still in development, so it would be unfair to say Android is to blame.
I guess I got you even more confused now than when you started What I am trying to say is both are great, Android is perhaps a bit more versatile at the moment, but WP7 is catching up fast. Can't wait to see the next incarnation.
I would agree that Mango seems more stable as I was just out and about this evening trying the ICS-4.0.3-CM9-build15 I installed on my HD2 recently but I must admit it did hang and freeze on numerous occasions. I was taking loads of pics of Plymouth harbour and the gallery froze and had to be shutdown then Google maps blacked the screen which was annoying cos I was using it to find my way back to the bus! What was more annoying was that I didn't have the other sd card that I use when booting WP7.5!!
On that subject, any of you guys running HD2O_WP7_1.26_LEO71_8107_ WP7.5 off NAND with ICS-4.0.3-CM9-build15 using the same SD card? I have tried everything to get this to work but everytime I have gone through the procedure, easeus partition etc etc everything boots fine BUT Android says 'please install an SD card' it can't somehow read the SD card which it has just booted off!! The only way I can get the ICS to work is if I use a separate SD which I have formatted using sdformatter.
Pity cos I would love to have both on the phone at the same time without having to change the SD.

My guess would be your card is to blame. Although I am running BTTF + Tytung's latest ICS 1.4. Went through 3 cards with 2 just dying within 2 weeks of operation and constant problems with either WP7.5 or Android not booting, restarting etc. Finally I went with San Disk and the problems magically disappeared.
I never go through Easeus partitioning because BTTF provides storage unlock and partitioning .cab, I just unlocked, partitioned to have 10Gb for Mango and 20Gb for ICS, never looked back.
Windows phone 7 is smoother, but of course has less going on in the background, and also has better social network integration, while Android has the overwhelming edge when it comes to apps, but that users would likely be happy with either on their HTC HD2.
But I think Android is the best phone OS going right now.....
just android
I would move to WP7, if only the battery drain problem would be properly fixed.
Since that's not happening, I have a nice and smooth GB rom on my HD2 as a daily driver.

What are u using in place of Easeus? I thought the WP7 had to be larger according the video on Pdaimatejam ROM. Are you partitioning before you install the ROM? Maybe you can send a link to the forum your reading
maybe this
I think what she's does is she installs WP7 first then unlocks the sd card (this there's a tut here somewhere) then she partitions the unlocked sd card for android
lets have enigma1nz confirm this
