[Q] make GingerBread HD2 support ad-hoc connection ?? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I was wondering how
make GingerBread HD2 support ad-hoc connection??

wait wait................

If you're wondering how to make it so your phone can see another phone wirelessly it can't be done if the hotspot phone is trying to use ad-hoc. For example: the LG ALLY can be made into a wireless hotspot and can be tethered to another device as long as the other device can utilize ad-hoc. As far as I know, the software itself from Google doesn't have that feature implemented, so android phones can't see ad-hoc hotspots.
If you're asking if your laptop can pair up to your android phone then sure it can. Just use this: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Source: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=82
As always, that's my interpretation. I may need additional details in the matter.

Thank you for your comment, but there are many of cynogenmod Gingerbread builds support this feature ..The main thing is that I am now comfortable no Gingerbread without support for that feature I want to know Is there a way to do that
thanks again

Hi
I'm using GPC's Pure Gingerbread on a HTC HD2 which is a 2.3.3 Android version. I tried to update from SD following the instruction posted here with no luck.
All I get is:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
What am I doing wrong?

Windows update can not connect to server

I am running an HTC Vogue on Cellcom. I have set windows update to run automatically but each time it states that is has failed. The reason is it can not connect to the server. When I configured updates, I did check the box that says use data plan. Any ideas out there?
Thanks,
David
you will not be able to update through that means. Those updates only contain generic updates and would destroy the carrier information. If you need an official ROM check HTC website. Or if you want a different ROM check around this forum.

Android Doubts

Hello guys,
I have an HTC Tatto since last wednesday and now I've some doubts regarding this situations:
- It's possible to install games/applications in SD-Card instead of the main memory?
- When I have my Tatto conectted to the PC, it's possible to use the PC Internet connection in the Tatto?
When I enter the Market or another application, he connects always my operator connection, I would like to use my PC Internet connection.
Hope you can help me.
Thank You and an excellent year for all
1. No. (Not possible with official ROM - and there are no custom ROMs for Tattoo)
2. No solution I'm aware of.
Since the Tattoo is downgradeable am i able to use a costum ROM for the Hero???
You can flash different official ROM but not a custom one.
Android 2.1 is coming....

One of the main changes Android 2.1 is going to get in is allowing installation of apps on to the SD Card!!....going by the reports we should get official upgrades pretty soon!

-- Yes, though i am not sure how but you can change it some where ( sorry for being vague here)
---YES, i am doing it now. Using the wifi on my tattoo to use the net. Just connect it in "Mobile network sharing mode" when you connect it to the pc. Or go into yours apps list and use the "USB to PC" to change the connection type

[Q] WiFi not working!

Hi,
I have normal HD2 with WP7 and Android.
So, my issue is that WiFi doesn't work. It works fine on WP7, but not on Android. When I try put wifi on, it enables it but shows error (just error) and disables it. I've tried those "WiFi Fixes" from Market, but not helping. It used to work before I upgraded to WP7 (Still using same Android build). Only difference between current android and one before WP7 is that my current one has rootfs for MAGLRD. So is there any way to fix it?
And like I said, it works on WP7.
E: This one is my Android: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925035
Also, my phone doesn't show my WiFi MAC address anymore.
E: I can share my 3G using WiFi.

[Q] Guys Need Help

Hello
I know I will be repeating, but i have read many things and they just do not get into my thick head
so let me start
i bought a Samsung Focus from ebay.in (cell-force.in)
i got the phone. it had initial software (i think pre nodo) installed. i connected it to Zune to my PC, it took some time but it installed the latest release, i.e. 7720
now, when i further explored i found that it is not possible to install apps other than marketplace, also the great well known wifi bug
now I need your help
could someone please help me, what should I do to solve this
I want my device to be able to install any application I want
I want to connect to wifi (if solution for that ssid but available after rooting/unlocking/jailbreaking my focus)
Also, if I do jailbreaking, and when any update is available, would I be able to update normally using Zune?
I read about chevron, but I think they do not support 7.5 (7720) yet
So pleaser held me
By the way, I have WinXP in my laptop, not Win7
Waiting for your help friends

you can if you have unlock (developer or Chevron) and access to the XAP files. as for the wifi bug, I'm not sure what you mean

possible, some you have to buy
I want to connect to wifi (if solution for that ssid but available after rooting/unlocking/jailbreaking my focus)
this should work regardless of where you are in the world. if you can't connect to a wifi then your phone's hardware might have an issue.
Also, if I do jailbreaking, and when any update is available, would I be able to update normally using Zune?
yes
I read about chevron, but I think they do not support 7.5 (7720) yet
no, it only supports OS ver. 7004/7008. You will need to downgrade to 7004 from a rom here, unlock with chevron and install several tools to keep the unlock.

Now, the long bits. I sent this to someone else, but posting it here so others can read. I'll build a newb how-to shortly.
First, you need to be on 7004/7008 OS version (check in settings/about).
If your version is greater than that (739x, 7720) then you need to downgrade to 700x
If your rom is greater than that then read my mini-guide here
Now, you need to unlock, so read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857127
It has a video tutorial, so it should be easy.
Once unlocked, immediately install Samsung Tools from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924497 and run them.
Make sure "prevent relock" is checked (actually everything should be checked) and reset.
Then, install WP7 Root Tools from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1265321
Now, you should be able to sideload.
When you've done all these, you could update to 739x (NoDo) but not all the way to Mango (7720) since you need to do some more steps, which you can also read here (includes all steps):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298351
thanks Sir
you are really very helpful
one last query, can i use winxp for all this. i have read people have trouble using winxp
if not, i will have to update to win7, which is not so easy
You're welcome, good luck!
Yes, you can use XP SP3.
just wanted to share this
i succesfully created apphub account with my university email id
and now i have interop unlocked, and can install 3rd party apps
but still cant connect to wifi (any wifi), even if broadcasting ssid is active, but i cant still connect to wifi
it is hard for me to believe that there is any hardware fault
well lets see, if MS fixes more bugs/adds features in the Nov 7 announcement
fingers crossed

Glad to hear you're sorted, at least for most bits.
I sincerely doubt on Nov 7 they will announce anything else than generation 2 phones and some software. But we'll see.
For your WiFi issue I suggest you try this: install Connectify on a laptop with Windows 7 and share the wireless connection (or a PC with a wireless dongle but with Windows 7). If that doesn't work, your phone has a hardware fault. I know for sure this works with any WP7 phone I've tried.

[Q] Ad-Hoc WLAN Networks (JoikuSpot)

Hi everyone!
Yes, I am a noob...
Infos:
I already know that every Android device needs a new "wpa_supplicant" file for connecting to Ad-Hoc Networks e.g. created by my Nokia's JoikuSpot or sth. else...
If there's another option, tell me
Also I've heard about this application:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree
that supposedly can be installed on an unrooted device!
The question:
For me it doesn't make sense, that you can install an app which has access to all files without rooting the tablet at first.
Can I replace the wpa_supplicant without rooting and be happy with tethering 3G from my phone to the tablet?
AdHoc Networks are my only cause for rooting but it seems to be quite difficult, maybe no one did it already with the slate ... I can't find instructions to do it anyway...
Please HELP
Merry X-Mas,
BeenieMan
