Can't change wallpaper! - G2 and Desire Z General

I click change wall paper, then click gallery, then accidentally clicked file explorer as default. How do I remove the default?

Settings.. App.. Manage Apps... Find the file explorer you are talking about... then clear defaults.

small start menu

Hey, some time ago i changed some things on my HTC HD and one of those things is my start menu. When i open the start menu i see a list of smaller icons than you see in the standard start menu. In the beginning you only see the 7 programs that you want your start menu to show. But somehow i've changed my start menu which shows the following now:
Agenda
Messages
Contacts
Internet Explorer
Notes
Telephone
-------------
//Recently opened apps
App1
App2
App3
...
-------------
Programs
Settings
Help
The problem is, is that i forgot how i did this... So i was hoping any of you could tell me how i did this.. If i get the chance all also try to add a picture of my menu and the default menu, so you get a better picture of what i mean.

Using a file explorer, you can add or delete new folders to your 'Start Menu' folder. Name them like: Web, Travel, Utilities, System and Media. Copy relevant shortcuts from you 'Programs' folder in your 'Start Menu' folder to each of these new folders. You will need to use a 3rd party file explorer to unhide system files and rom files to see the pre-installed icons to copy them to your folders. These icons are '.ink' shortcuts. Also copy the entire 'Games' folder and 'Office' folder from your 'Programs' folder direct to your 'Start Menu' folder. Finally uncheck all checked boxes in Menus in Settings page. This will allow all 9 folders to show in your Start menu on your home page, where you can access specific apps much quicker. Remember each time you install or remove a program/game, you have to either copy the new 'ink' icon to your category folder or delete it.
You can also use utility apps like HDTweak & Advanced Config to change size of Start Menu
If you go to Start/Settings/System/TouchFLO you also can change Start Menu size

Restore default wallpaper in Sense 2.5

I don't find any option to do so, but since I selected a custom wallpaper, the home screen is extremely slow. How do I revert to default?
Thanks

Go to settings tab > Personalize > Home tab wallpaper and then select weather wallpaper for default
or
Go to settings tab > Personalize > Lock screen wallpaper and it will ask you if you want to use default
Thank you, but I have already tried this. If I click on "Weather wallpaper" I am taken to a select image dialog, exactly as if I had clicked on "Animated wallpaper". Should I think of a bug in the ROM (Xannytech)?

Actually I never noticed that before but you can still restore default by clicking on Weather wallpaper > albums > my device > my wallpapers and default wallpaper should be one of these
Ciao
I have the same problem...
And since I've used HD Wall to change the wallpapers on all of the tabs, I can't use your suggested solution to get back to the "default" wallpaper, which is no longer the regular default wallpaper but the one I made with HD Wall!
Any other ideas?
for me, i had to clear the values stored in the CachedBackgroundPath and HomeBackgroundPath registry entries, both of which are located under the key HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila. once cleared, i soft reset my device and the default wallpapers appeared again. hopefully this isn't the only/best method.

Thank you so much!
Eventhough this is not the easiest method, atleast it's a solution!

TY, saved my day
Another way - the default wallpapers are stored in \Windows and are named stwater_480_800 and stwater_800_480 ( for landscape). You can copy the first one to your Wallpapers folder and select it there.

default apps

is there a way to remove some of the default apps. like the demos and so on?
Go into the root folder and remove them forcefully. Go into /Windows/Start Menu and delete the shortcuts from your Start Menu and job's a goodun'.

can some directory be fobidden to show in the picture galery

Hi,
since i updated my DHD with the OTA update, i can see ALL pictures that are in the phone's memory in the picture galery app..
is there a way to told the picture galery to ignore some folders..
MOD edit: Moved to General
Cheers,
M_T_M
Yes. Add empty file called
.nomedia
In the folder
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
or when you load up gallery, click menu and show/hide folders then untick what folders you dont want to show
the main idea is to prevent friends/child or whatever to see pics that are not for them (like a sexy girlfriend for example)
the hide menu in galery is too easy ...
there is no password or something like that, so if you share your phone for 1 min to someone, he can found the hidden albums in 10 secs ....
I'll try the nomedia hopping that it will do the work...
One last question: how to remove the thumbnails without deleting the content ?
the .nomedia trick worked ...
but i needed to put this file on the parent directory, not the directory containing the pictures

hmm when i start gallery and klick on menu nothing happens, no menu is comming up. i wanna exclude some folders. how can i change that, is there any other way?
is the menu not coming up because its still loading/refreshing?
Update: wow its tricky to get this menu opened up...
i tried to put the .nomedia file in the parent folder, but it doesnt work....
i also cleared the cache of gallery, and after startup the same again.
i would like to uncheck some "system - pictures" wich i dont need in gallery
Question:
is there a programme, which actually shows the folder structure for pictures.
like my pictures -> test -> test1
-> test2
because gallery shows only
my pictures
test
test1
test2
I installed and application called hide it pro today (free) from market, it lets you hide anything with a password. Installs as 'audio manager' and there is a hidden button in that to get to the login screen. Pretty nice!

When I load gallery, if I hit menu nothing happen.
Then I select 'All photos' then hit menu and only 3 buttons appears: 'slide show', 'Define as', 'Select reader'.
So nothing about 'show/hide folders'. Where do you find that ??
Thanks
Other way to hide folder from gallery is to name it ".anyfoldername"
The dot in the beginning is the key. My windows computer would not let me create such folder, so I made one in my phone and then moved files to it from a computer.
By the way, in Gallery all photos are displayed 'flat' whatever the folder hierachy is.
In other word, I cannot browse photos by folder they belong to.
It was possible in my previous Magic with many different ROMs (stock 1.6, Cyanogen,...).
This is quite anoying because I have +400 photos stored in +10 folders.
Scroll down and there you should be able to see the folders...

I had to delete application data through Application settings for it to rescan.
It found my folders

but no the files are freely visible
ok at least there are not in the galery

[Q] Folders with images.

I've put some icons on my Wildfire (Like 500), and I nicely organized them with 5 folders each containing 100, but when I go to the window to change the icon of an application it just shows all of the icons (500), and doesn't show any folders.
Does anyone know how to let my phone display the folders with icons in them instead of loading all of them in one time?

well, i am not much an expert but why dont you try downloading "picturen lite" from market. and then when you change an icon, select picturen lite to complete the action instead of gallery. see if it works....
Download quickpic from the market.
Also, I had another question.
When opening a folder it gave me the choice ''Open with Pictures/OI File Manager''.
I accidentally did ''Remember'' and I wan't to choose the other one now, what do I do?
Menu> settings> applications> manage applications, go to the app that is selected as default and tap clear defaults.
Go to Settings->Applications-> Manage apps-> choose the app you set as default and tap on 'Clear defaults'
Thanks, both of you !
