Is it possible to get the htc dhd dialer on gingerbread?
No, that dialer needs the Sense framework which is closed source, and there's no Gingerbread Sense available yet.
Rumous has it Dialer One (free on market) resembles the Sense dialer, might give that one a try.
thank you for your answer

I was wondering if it's possible to disable the HTC dialer on my Hero. To use only the default from Android Vanilla.
I try to search but only with Win Mob, has anyone know how to disable this app?
thanks
i believe another ROM is in order. From what i understand, the HTC dialer is actually the standard Android dialer redesigned / rewritten by HTC as well as most apps (yay open source) not some cover-up like they did with winmo....
(correct me if im wrong...)
The lock screen is the same of Hero???
Is there a way to change it? anyone??
Thanks
I am not here to help, because I myself have never used Android before and know only very basic (aka noob) things regarding the OS (will be joining with the Desire).
I just wanted to say: I think it is the same as found on the HTC Hero, because this is the HTC SENSE lockscreen. Both phone's feature HTC Sense, so...
On the desire you can disable HTC Sense and get the stock 2.1 experience (including the stock 2.1 lockscreen I assume). Maybe you can try that to get another lockscreen, but then again you will have to give up on HTC Sense.

It makes Sense. Thanks for the tip
I should have tried it before I talked.
No, turning off Htc Sense does not give me the Eclair lock screen, it gives me the same Htc Sense lock screen.
I thought this smartphone was be able to add voice dial commands, but so far I couldn't find a way to. Is it because of Htc Sense?

Hi guys! sorry if this has already been posted, but i really cant find the answer anywhere, and im a heavy reader of the forum.
Is there any way to install HTC Sense by myself on a "no sense" android version?
i know most u guys hate sense, but i find it quite usefull, as it brings a good calendar widget (full screen syncronised with google calendar), the people widget (that syncronises with facebook app automatically) and friendstream (which i like a lot to keep me posted with news, people and tweets updates).
The reason why i dont just install an android version with htc sense already on, is cos i have noticed that all versions with sense, have the camera limited to 3mpx, but the ones running froyo 2.2 can be set at 5 mpx.
sorry if the question has an obvious answer that i couldnt figure out myself.
I'm looking find a solution for this too. I've tried to use some .apk files under /system/app from Desire ported rom but it doesn't work under Nexus One based roms
MattC version includes two cameras 2&5MP
HD2 Energy Cookies ROM, 2.10.50, MattC sense
Sense requires different framework.res and a few other things. It has to be a sense rom to start.(I understand its a major ordeal to add to nonsense rom). So in short it can't be just installed. Hope this helps.

I love the MIUI roms other than one aspect - the dialer. Is there any way to completely replace this with either the default Android dialer or HTC's? I have installed Dialer One over the top but all this does is alter how a call is made but the in call screen and receive call screen (slide up/down to answer etc) stays the same.
Cheers in advance.
Can anyone help with this? I'd love to get HTC's dialer working on this build.

I'm pretty sure there's a way to do it. I currently have an Xperia x10 and I've replaced the Phonebook.apk file (Located in /system/apps) with a modded one. I'd imagine the same concept can be applied to a cooked HD2 ROM. The only problem is if a dialer has dependancies with other services (Like sense dialer), you may come across issues.
No.
HTC uses htc libraries. You won't get them working on another rom.
(That's why you never see HTC apps outside sense )
You can, however, download dialer one or similar from market - or push the stock apk file
I recommend you use rocket dialer
you can find it from the market
Try "go contacts". Best dialer/contacts replacement imho.

- HTC Dialer & Contact manager;
- HTC Sense keyboard;
Thanks
