1. How i can change tone of locking on and off of my phone screen?
Not as far as I have seen, but I have been wrong loads of times.
2. How i can arrange my download files like i phone ( i mean creat folder for every catgories not put everything on same place ?
All the files will download to the same place and you can arrange them after they have downloaded into what ever folder you want.
3. Can i root my htc to original ROOT ?
Dont understand this question!

Do you mean the sound your DHD makes when unlocking?
2. How i can arrange my download files like i phone ( i mean creat folder for every catgories not put everything on same place ?

As Blinkydamo posted, by default all downloads are place into a folder called "downloads" on the root of your SD Card. To move these you will need a file manager, I recommend Linda File Manager as its simple to use. There are many others available, just search within the Market.
3. Can i root my htc to original ROOT ?

Don't quite understand the question.
My assumption is that you want to root your DHD, or replace your HTC ROM with an AOSP ROM, depending on your Firmware this may prove difficult.
If your DHD has the latest DHD update, Android 2.2.1 (1.72 Firmware)then you will need to downgrade.
If your rocking Android 2.2 (1.32 Firmware) then this will be a piece of cake.
If you can clarify questions 1 & 3, I can then help you or point you to the relevant guide.

1. Yes i mean the Sound when my HTD locked.
2. i mean when i download any applications or games all of them but together on same place on my htc ... CAN i found some Software or Weidget can help me to catogeries my appliations or games,..
3.i mean ... Can i re install original ROM coming with my HTD for accedentaly .. Because my HTD from UK and when i reset my htc to factory setting still some old applications or games reinstalling !!! Why?
thanks for all

[Q] rooting, flashing, goldcard questions

Hi guys
I'm new to the Android business and I have a few questions, which I will be very happy if you answered.
1. What the heck is a gold card ? I mean, I know it's a modified memcard that I need for rooting phones, but why do I need it ? Why is it not possible to root a phone without it ? Can I use the goldcard as a usual memcard, or do I have to have separate one ?
2. Are there any tutorials for rooting under linux ? I have dualboot, but I don't like windoze, so it would be nice to be able to do it under Ubuntu.
3. Is it possible to restore the original ROM after flashing it ? From what I understand, I suppose I could download the files (maybe from the official HTC site) and install it just like any other ROM. Am I right ?
4. Are there any problems with flashing I should be aware of (IDK, camera not working, microphone problems, graphic artefacts, whatever) ? Can I kill my phone if I do something wrong ?
5. A highly hypothetical question : is it possible to install any other mobile OS after rooting ? Not that I wanna do it, I just wanna know. If not, why ?
6. Is it possible to change boot animations, icons, etc in a ROM that I downloaded ?
I'm thinking about flashing the ROM, because I have problem with 3G / only the browser seems to work with the connection. All the other apps report "No connection".
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Most important :
Can I use the goldcard as a usual memcard, or do I have to have separate one ?
Is it possible to restore the original ROM after flashing it ?
Can I kill my phone if I do something wrong ?
C'mon guys, please..
1. I won't be able to explain how it works exactly, but it seems like it gives higher access level, which is needed for rooting your phone. You can use almost any (some of them doesn't work) MicroSD card and after rooting you phone you'll be able to format it and use as a memory card again.
2. http://android.modaco.com/content/h...-r4-htc-legend-rooting-guide-now-with-1-31-x/ (works on Linux, tested personaly).
3. Yes, later you can flash one of official ROM's. You can download them from here.
4. It depends on the ROM you're going to use. Some of them are damn stable and some not. Read comments before using it. Flash ROM's by using ROM Manager (it's on the Market), it's absolutely fail proof.
Just:
* don't forget to do FULL wipe before flashing ROM.
* read how-to's and (or) chef's notes carefully BEFORE you start.
5. I don't think so as there are no drivers for the other operating systems. Could be some other reasons is well, i don't know.
6. Yes, read those threads.
Thanks very much, dude !
I think I'll try out the most popular one - CyanogenMod. Hope that's stable and it's Froyo-based. Is it ?
btw I can't use the market, that's the main reason I wanna flash. I just can't connect to my gmail account, thus being unable to install new apps. On 3G none of the apps can connect to the internet, on wifi they connect, except the goddamn market.
Thanks again, much love !
btw I hear that you don't need the gold card to root the phone if it's not branded (therefore I don't need one to flash the ROM). Is that right ? My phone's not branded...

My phone wasn't branded too, but i couldn't root without the goldcard.
If I backup the data that I currently have on my memcard, can I restore it on any ROM I install ? I just need the facebook-linked contacts, I really don't have anything else as I can't install apps.
One more question - after flashing, is there a way to install apps without the market ? I know, if I had "astro file manager", I could, but now I can't even install astro. Maybe a similar (if not the same) file manager could be included in the ROM ?

You don't have to backup SD card before flashing ROM as you won't lose any pictures, music, videos or any other files THAT ARE on SD card (unless YOU will format it). If you want to backup some applications data/settings - try to use My Backup app.

You can install apps by using ADB if you don't have Market app installed. Also you can use any file manager if your app setup files (APKs) are on the SD card.
And a little advise - use Nandroid backup and then you can do whatever you want. If the things goes wrong way - use Nandroid restore Just do NOT format your SD card without copying files on your PC first.
I created a GoldCard using this guide. How do I know if it's a working goldcard before I root my phone ? I didn't even format the card (I forgot to, because it wasn't mentioned in the guide).
Dunno where the hell have I posted my question(there should be a "view my posts" button).
Anyway... I'm trying to root my Legend, but I get stuck at the point where I have to run the step1 script -> I'm unable to run it, because it allways throws me a "permission denied" error. Even tho it's ran by sudo and it has rwxrwxrwx permissions.
What's going on here ?

Hi, can I use the goldcard for different phones, like the also the Magic? I used the goldcard already for my legend, succesfully.
Thanks, Paul
I think you can
What app do you use to backup before wiping ?
I install my apps to the SDcard, so they should work after wiping, but I also need my old settings, phone book and stuff.
Titanium Backup does a fine backup "app-centric", so you can restore all your apps regardless of their location, including their settings, scores and market location. I would not recommend aiming for a backup of system settings, since you might compromise the function of your new ROM with old system settings. If you just want to do a test with a new ROM, and want to go back to your initial ROM, use Nandroid backup that is part of your rooted Recovery menu - it does a 1:1 backup of your entire ROM. For phone book etc. do a PC sync or use Google Apps. For SMS backup there are a number of free apps that back your SMS up to Gmail, under a SMS label, or to your SD, as an XML file.

HI,
Go to HTC site>support>download>ROM upgrade and choose appropriate ROM upgrade for your phone
Change the .exe to .zip and
Extract with winrar or 7z the RUU_Leo_HTC_****************************_Ship.zip
find the larger *.nbh file and rename it to leoimg.nbh and place this file on an sd card that is 4gb or less
and reboot to bootloader (the one with 4 colors, hold volume down button until you see "SEARCHING")
follow the instructions from there
so is possible , thanks

There is no best, it is all a matter of personal taste. Asking for the best is more likely to get you flamed. It is an SD Android, try it, erase it, try another. Repeat until you get one you prefer.
All the SD Androids I've run on the HD2 were rooted.
When it is running Android, it is a fully working Android phone. Before you try the Market get a gmail account (just set one up on the computer) and sign in to the Gmail App, then go to the Market. So any apps you download from the market will work, provided that they would work on a similar Android phone. I've downloaded some games and they either didn't work or the graphics were so poor, but in general the vast amount of downloaded apps I've used worked fine.

first check the SD builds forum - easier as no flashing required, then pick one (e.g. ACA my personal favorite), read the installation instructions (usually just create Android folder on your SD card, then copy the build there), then run using any file manager clrcad.exe and haret.exe which are the android folder, wait for 10-30 minutes until 1st boot is finished, and done

links are marked by brownish font by default, check my previous post,
as for SPL, HSPL etc., you don't need to bother as long as you run Android from SD, that's the beauty of SD builds, enjoy full functionality of android, without the hassle and risk of bricking your device
some general FAQs here and here, but if you want to start fast, you can read those later, installing an SD build is safe

That SPL and radio version are fine, just download the ROM, extract it, click on CLRCD, then HARET, then you're running Android.
And ACA is by far the best ROM you're going to find

what's more to know for the start?
- no need to reinstall from now on, it's just that for now your device will always restart to WinMo, however: find yourself so called "android loader" to automate android loading, there's few of those to choose from, e.g. Android Loader v6.0
- connect android with your google account so your contacts and emails are synced (Settings / Accounts etc...)
- install Battery Monitor Widget, so you always know how much mA your device uses and how much battery is left,
- also search xda for tips on conserving battery power (e.g. disable 3G if not needed, switch off GPS, tweak backlight autobrightness in CM Settings etc.)
- be aware that for now the USB file transfer does not work, to copy files to your HD2 use WinMo or Card Reader or File Expert
- backup often: 1. invest in Titanium Backup, 2. from time to time copy data.img to your PC
- browse through the ACA FAQ and thread (I know it may be hard to read all 14995 messages at once)

All apps are installed on your card, the whole idea of an SD build is that WinMo still sits in ROM, while Android basically consists of two files (sitting in the SD\Android folder) which are mounted at the start: system.ext2 (all system files and apps) and data.img (all user apps and settings). From user point of view you won't notice the difference. Additionally, once you run out of space in your data.img, you can always resize it, there are tools for that, but lets put it aside for now

all links are in my previous post, click on the brown text "Android Loader v6.0" to open,
installation is standard for WinMo: while in Windows Mobile, copy the .cab file to your SD Card and run from within any file manager, then it will guide you, also when in doubt search its thread for more info
i have downloaded it there is no cab file when i extract it from the zip folder.

o2 uk users to europe unbranded mango guide

hi i recently came across the new RUU_Schubert_S_HTC_Europe_4.05.401.02_Radio_5.69.09.29a_22.50.50.21_Signed_SCHUBERT_RELEASE rom which is the europe unbranded mango rom i successfully flashed my o2 uk rom to this update without using any of the hspl flashing techniques so this way will remain updateable even through zune so here goes
Step 1- download this rom http://www39.multiupload.com:81/fil..._5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10U_Signed_by_ansar.zip
Step 2- extract this rom 2 a folder and name it something like update part 1
Step 3-download this file http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo.../ModelID.fig&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13155707623901
Step 4- download this mango rom http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo..._RELEASE.exe&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13155708495051
Step 5 extract the rom you downloaded in step 4 to a folder named update part 2 then drag the modeid file you downloaded in step 3 into your update part 2 folder
Step 6 flash your phone using the romupdateutility exe file in your 1st update folder at the end of this u will receive an error 270 dont panic as this is supposed to happen
Step 7 now time to flash again go to your update part 2 folder this time and click on the romupdateutility exe file and allow it to flash at the end of this you will have a fully unbranded mango 2 rom on your phone with all the updated radios
would also like to think ansar and petbede as parts of there discoveries was used in this guide hope this helps

There may be a misunderstanding occurred.
Try to rename filename and extension from "ModelID.fig" to "ModelID.bmp" (quote not include).
You will see a real file of ModelID.fig..
It's just image not hardware id.
The real hardware id was specific into the Rom in the offset 0x0220.
Quite painless and looks good - installed no issues so far.
does this method require y device to be unlocked ?
I guess doing this way you lose all your side-loaded apps including chevron unlock?
Future Updates?
Does this allow standard updating via Zune? Or will we have to put on the original mango carrier roms when and if they become available?
I followed this and it worked a treat top post
only problem I have is some of my app purchases seem to be lost.....e.g. I paid for PES2011 and now it shows up with the BUY which I am reluctant to click in case I pay twice....any ideas?
I can't find the Modeid file?
When I open up the file in step 3 the files in there are as follows:
RomUpdateutility.exe
Enterbootloader.exe
RUUgetinfo.exe
Rapitool.exe
RUUresource.dll
Readme.doc
RUU_signed.nbh
SPL_Signed.nbh
Enterusb.fig

[Q] Tricky question. How to unlock phone?

Hi!
I'm Johnson. My friend tried unlocking my phone and it got locked.
The phone is currently running on the SD version of AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB2.3.7 CM7.2
The phone's wifi has been switched off and i don't know how to switch it on with the phone locked.
Further I had enabled 2-step verification for my Droid and an application specific password for it which I don't know though I know the real password of my account.
Pretty tricky huh? ...any solutions on how to recover the phone without hard resetting the device?
well ... the only solution short of resetting would be to wish you luck!?! sorry no help i know but it sounds like you have quite the delima!

Try fresh installing and then copying over the old data img? I have no clue if that would possibly work but it's the only thing I could think of, so try it anyway Good luck.
EDIT: This is a youtube video showing how to bypass the lock screen, doubt it still works on GB but hey, why not?
I have got an idea, but dont know how to work out( jus coz i dont know which is the file i am going to talk about). Find the file which saves ur personal info like passwords acounts etc. Copy an untouched file ( the very same one) from the zip of the rom( the very same rom which u have on ur phone now), make a cwm flashable zip with it in the way the new file will replace ur current file in ur phone. Flash it. Done.
All i can help u is, if u find out which file is it,and upload an untouched one from the roms zip,i can make u a cwm flashable zip for it.

SD Android, everything is stored on the data.img as far as I know, and CWM etc is completely out of the question. Anyway, I assume he's done something or the other by now because he's hardly going to be able to survive by using WinMo for a day

All i can help u is, if u find out which file is it,and upload an untouched one from the roms zip,i can make u a cwm flashable zip for it.
