Would Atrix be released in Europe?
Yes, it's coming to Orange in the UK.
4G? or 3g? i am from Greece and if it comes with 3g to europe i will buy it for sure!!!!
The Atrix will do 3G in Europe. The 4G on the Atrix is HSPA+ which will probably be USA-only. It does not support LTE.
well it is coming to europe, here in France the first operator to get it will be Orange(date release march).
I doubt it will be a 4g since france will start constructing it LTE network this year, but it will be HSPDA (dunno if it is + since it is still tested by operators such as SFR) but for sure it will be 3G+ or 3.5G
Lol, there's already a site that offers the "Motorola ATRIX European Version" for pre-order. According to them, the retailprice will be $499.99 and they sell it for $399.99. Here's a link to the site: http://www.cellhut.com/Motorola-ATRIX-Unlocked-Quadband-European-Version-GSM-Cell-Phone-30366.html It doesn't look very trustworthy though

The device will be the same in the US vs Europe. The "4G" title is really just 3.5G speed. Since it supports speeds of up to 14.4Mbps, similar to the LTE speeds Verizon will have initially, the device is being marketed as 4G.
The data speeds on this thing will be limited only by the network, so if your carrier supports HSPA+ of 14.4Mbps or better this phone will be fast. Don't get confused by "4G" marketing techniques used in the US.

The HSPA+ 14.4 Mbps is not USA-only. It will work on any provider that supports it (like all providers in Canada)
Of course it must also be on the frequency bands of the Atrix (850/1900/2100 MHz). I don't know if the Euro version will be any different (900/1900/2100 maybe?)
Ah thanks for the correction, I am not that familiar with the Euro market.

I've always been a vodafone man so hopefully vodafone will get it sooner rather than later. Can't wait to get my hands on one!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
You'll be able to buy it sim-free from Play.com, Expansys etc.
Expansys have a product page up now, but no price details as yet.
the fastest way is to buy it when it will be availablein the US
in france, there's an unofficial date : june of this year

June!? Wow by that time we will be nearing our next release of Superphones. That is really odd considering Europe usually gets the best devices.
Well, if you don't want to wait you could always go for the similarly speced LG Optimus 2x...
Well the plot thickens!
Dear Steve

Strange considering they issued that press release and all...
http://newsroom.orange.co.uk/2011/0...otorola-atrix-the-future-of-mobile-computing/
problem is that the atrix is seen as
a weapon against the iphone5, so the providers want to use it "fresh" against the iPhone5 launch in june/july ... so i think we will get it in april/may/june. but hopefully some european providers are smart enough and launch it in march ... because with the docks it is much more than just an iPhone5 competitor ...
... and i also want to see it free ( amazon, ph ... ) as soon as possible ... moto?
I just can't wait to see a sim-free version for sale, this will definately be my next smartphone!
Are there already rumors for a release date in Germany?
Yeah, any news about EU release, preorder?
Looks like June on Tmobile in the UK

does anyone know if the hero will be coming to AT&T??
I think it's ridiculous that AT&T hasn't picked up ANY android devices yet.

Well, didn't it go to the FCC with AT&T bands?
Nahh. I dont think it will be going to ATT!
Its pretty much comfirmed by now that it will be coming to Sprint. Sucks for me but guess ill be moving.
im gonna go sell my HTC Hero which arrives tomorrow and just wait for the us Version.
Yes, 850 & 1900 3G bands were passed for the HERO on the FCC side. How much you wanna bet it goes to Rogers before AT&T. I think that's why it was passed thru the FCC which is fine by me as that model will work fine thru AT&T 3G bands here in the USA.

have you checked the new rumors and sources...
There was a link on HTC website support page which stated
"HTC HERO (Sprint)"
dont believe me try this:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/04/htc-support-site-reveals-hero-for-sprint-snap-for-alltel/
i take the FCC approval as better news that its coming to ATT than HTC website showin HTC Hero (Sprint)...that does not show enough evidence that it will release on sprint...typo or or whatever can happen...we just have to wait and see...waiting for more news on the sony xperia x3 snap dragon thats a beast of a android phone.

There is far more evidence to support a Sprint release than an ATT release. The FCC approval could easily be for an unlocked 3G version of the device, and have nothing to do with ATT. Everyone just assumed it was for ATT. Live in denial all you want, but it's looking more and more likely that the Hero is coming to Sprint. A typo as specific as that is just way to unlikely.

Or maybe, just maybe, it's coming to both. One interesting note is that the FCC document is called NM8_HOT. NM8 is used to identify HTC as it relates to the FCC. I was wondering if HOT might actually be H(er)OT where T is also AT&T's stock symbol. I dunno...
I don't like Sprint but I welcome any Android devices on more carriers. The more widespread it is, the more end users and developers we'll get.
the model that passed the FCC could merely be a version for Canada or Latin America. one of the Omnia's passed the FCC with AT&T's 3G bands, but it turned out that it was bound for Latin America, which I guess uses the same bands as AT&T does. I'd love to get this phone, but idk if I'm willing to pay the full unlocked price from Clove, especially taking into account all the issues I've read and heard about the lagging and such. if it had a better processor, then I'd consider buying an unlocked one, but since it doesn't, I think I'll be waiting for a better Android phone. possibly the Sony Ericsson one

While I'm eagerly waiting for the HTC Hero to come to Canada, is there any specific reason why the FCC has to file and go over phone destined for Canada or Latin America?
I'm looking for a reputable US source for the Leo. Someone who ships when they say they will and doesn't charge your account until the unit is shipped. I don't need 3G because it's not available where I am 90% of the time. Would like to have the unit in-hand by November 19th. Any recommendations?

Maybe try Expansys USA, although I've never purchased through them so can't comment on the shipping. I did pre-order once (later canceled) and they definitely didn't charge my card ahead of any shipment.
I've always ordered from Clove UK and have an HD2 on pre-order with them. While they aren't a US source they've been top notch in every aspect which keeps me coming back.
Hope that helps and I'm sure you'll get plenty of other suggestions for retailers .

you can go for clove or handtec. they ship to US.
im thinking which comany i will go for. clove is 15 years old. a little bit higher than handtec
I'm hoping to get it from t-mob usa for the 3G in 1st Q (that's if I can wait that long ).

Clove is top notch and they are very friendly to deal with. Always have been truthful about stock and they ship ultra-fast. They usually have a DHL option for a little extra $$ you can have it next day.
I haven't had a great experience with Expansys-USA. Usually take longer to ship and have been untruthful about stock.
I really miss having the Euro HTC units support quad-band HSPA. I need 3G too much to upgrade to the HD2 yet. I hope at&t will carry it.
Thanks for starting this thread as I was curious about who to go with as well. I'm certainly new around here so apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but if I got the HD2 from one of the places mentioned, would it work on Verizon's network here in the States? I'm not too up on all the bands and what works on what. Cheers!

No problem for the question. The HD2 will work just fine on EDGE/GSM in the US but the version being released in the coming weeks won't support 3G. So the short answer is, yes it will work but without 3G . I'll miss not having 3G speeds but there's always using Wi-Fi to make up for it.
There is a confirmed HD2 for T-Mobile USA coming in early 2010 that would support T-Mob's 3G bands. There may be a variant for Verizon and AT&T that supports 3G as well so keep checking the Leo threads for any news.
I Hope soon we have the HD2 for AT&T or sim free with US 3G!

Yes, this had been my hope until I got to wondering how the branding might affect possible use of custom ROMs. I'd give up 3G (never have had it) for xda communities ROM's, if indeed the carrier branding prevents updating the wider selection of ROMs.
Newegg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875205178&Tpk=nokia n900
Possibly comforting news for AT&T/EDGE users..
I've noticed that on previous phones like the Diamond/D2/TP/TP2/HD has a Class 10 EDGE, for download up to 236kbps. On the HD2, it has an EDGE class 12, capable download of up to 560kbps, twice the download speed as the previous HTC phones. I don't know how fast AT&T EDGE network really is or whether or not the bandwidth is shared with their 3G network (which im assuming will have a higher priority), so if someone with a higher level of knowledge in this subject...please chime in =)
In any case, even if we're stuck with EDGE, rest assure that the HD2 can download at twice the speed as HTC's current phones.
I just wanted to ask if there would be any way of getting the Touch HD2 on the Sprint network? I've read the rumors of the Sprint Adonis, but I need a lil' more info to make a wise decision. I was thinkin' TP2 until I saw touchflo3D 2.6. I would put a custom rom on the pro2 that has that UI, but I can't find a rom that has landscape support and there were concerns about how smooth it would operate. Can someone please lend a expert opinion. I would really appreciate it.
Price on Expansys USA usually very expensive. Like other said, Clove UK has great price and very good service when I was buying my X1.

no way

450????? Holy mother of god that's cheap
I thought 530 for the nexus one was an amazing deal. You bet your sweet ass I'll be at the local T-mobile store on the release day.
It was between the nexus one and the HD2, but I think saving 80 bucks will be a better bet. Even though it probably won't get wp7, I'll be happy with it.
We will find out for sure at MIX

all we need now is the official releasee!!!
ill buy it as soon as it gets here
Wow I hope those are the prices, depressing that its 100 cheaper than my Fuse and my S730 lol...
Damn good price.
Hmmm decisions decisions.
Was about to get the euro version unbranded for 599 shipped.
and now tmobiles unsubsidized price is rumored at 450. so technically 480ish after my state taxes.
What do you guys think? Pay 120 more for unbranded + euro/asia 3g? or get the unsubsidized for 480 and unlock it later.
I am on tmobile us right now and don't plan on getting 3g on my plan anyways. and I am traveling abroad to asia for a year but I might not even subscribe to a 3g plan (maybe just edge) while im over there.
You guys think tmobile version would be any different or more difficult to flash roms?

The price could be low because they want to get a lot of them out.. due to NO WP7 upgrade or because it WILL be WP7 upgrade.
Or maybe just because it's a few months ago now and they feel bad for us..
could the TMo version work outside the US?
This is fantastic news. Now i can upgrade from my htc x7501
so when is the officail relaease date then i have heard the 12th, the 14th, and the 24th??? anyone with any officail news on a release date???
3G Band Frequency
Hey guys, do we know what 3G band frequencies the T-mobile version will have?
I know that T-mobile uses 1700Mhz for 3G... do we know if this version will have other bands like 850Mhz....
I live in Canada and I do plan to buy the HD2 in near future, in Canada in order to get 3G you need either 850Mhz, 1700Mhz or 1900Mhz frequency band enabled phone.
I would like to buy a phone that can do 3G, rather than the Europe version. If the price of this phone is actually $449, then I will most probably buy this one.
Does anyone know how you can buy this phone from Canada, I mean for this price? I know some websites that sell unlocked phones but the prices are usually very high.
Thank You
Hmmm, i coulda swore i read somewhere that tmobile uses the 1700 band for 3G
yeah tmobile uses 1700/2100 for 3g in the US.
it will not have the 850 or 1900 bands.
From one Roger user to another...The answer is NO, t-mobile 3G model will not work on Rogers/Fido network or the new Bell/Telus HSPA network. The T-Mobile phone will only be useful if you are on WindMobile as they use the same 3G frequency as T-Mobile.
The Europe version T8585 will give yah Edge speeds while the T9193(Telstra) will give yah 3G speeds here in Canada.
Hope that helps to clear the confusion.

Has anybody seen it in store yet? Perhaps in the hands of a sales rep? I've heard reports that they're doing training for it this week.
Europe : Paid 570 euro...
last news : no upgrade to Windows 7
no flash player 10 for windows 6.5 in future.
even would't pay 300 euro for this device !!!
I am on AT&T for the main reason that I travel frequently to Europe and Asia (Japan, Hong Kong) and it's the carrier who happens to have devices with 3G bands compatible nearly worldwide (Even though I don't like so much the price AT&T is costing me...)
So... really considering now to switch to the Galaxy tab and say good bye to my good old TP2 (heavily overclocked so still with a bit of life in it !)
I have a few questions
1. there are rumors here and there saying the Tab for AT&T wont have the front facing camera (And then some other places where it's listed as a spec of the AT&T tab). Anybody can confirm / infirm this ? (Would be really pissed to pay such a price for the device if it has been castrated)
2. AT&T is the last US carrier not to have announced a launch date for the tab... (Maybe it's willing to be a bit nice to Apple and its recently commercialized iPad, or maybe it's just an old and slow company...). Pure speculation: is there a chance we'll be able to switch the tab bands from T-Mobile like some have successfully done with other Samsung phones from the galaxy family ?
3. Another pure speculation: has Samsung actually disabled the hardware for voice calls on the US versions ? I hope his will be solved by flashing another firmware. Otherwise I'll just end up buying an international version (Which will be much more expensive...)
You can get the unlocked north american version which should be out by next week. It will cost you an arm and a leg but WILL work with the 850/1900 at&t 3g bands. Here are a few sites that have it:

Thanks. Yes these bands are AT&T ones. Though waiting a few more weeks should allow to get it directly from AT&T at a lower price...
The good news is, if the websites are correct about the specs, the front facing camera is there (And I doubt Samsung will make a different Tab)
Seem to imply the voice call work to (negrielectronics) but it could be a mistake or a trick (works only through skype...) or just simple taht we are talking about an overseas model with the right 3G bands

What concerns me are the comments that suggest US carriers will somehow restrict their service to GT so only data will work (no voice). So that raises the question for those of us who get the unlocked version - how do we get our Gt on to ATT or others? I guess I'm asking which ATT phone is it close enough to that I can acuire and swap the SIM card?

Well, from what I hear is the 850/1900 band version will be an unlocked north amaerican version which can work with rogers (Canada) and at&t for the US by just adding your SIM card in. It is unknow weather the at&t network will identify the galaxy tab and change your plan accordingly if that is even how it will work with at&t. I beleive they WILL have a different plan for data for this device as T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon are following this. Also, the at&t version WILL be a different model in appreance and features as this unlocked one will not. Probablly because at&t WILL remove the front camera and who knows what else (thanks to the iphone). That is why the samsung site has not put the at&t version on their site yet. really do hope it will be treated as a PDA phone thru at&t's network (for the unlocked version)

Figured I would fire up this thread and bump it up as Bell is releasing the Galaxy Tab on November 12th. That will be our solution for the 850/1900 3G version I guess..? I sent a message to Nergi to see if they will have this version. I'll keep you posted.
I have my G-Tab now (Euro version with phone and data working great on AT&T in USA) Be glad to answer questions. General comment: I LOVE it! The form factor and wt are just right for me and it has all the features I miss on my iPad. Only criticism is that I find Android a bit less stable than IOS but that might be what Gingerbread or Honeycomb will address.

Are you getting good 3g coverage? I see your in PA... Close to me. I know the 1900 band does blanket this area to some degree but the 850 band is alot stronger. I think I may wait for a full 3g band with both 850/1900 bands. Seems like the bell version will be the answer to that. Glad to hear you love the device.
I read that the bell version can't make any phone calls fyi .

Yes the 3g coverage is fine in the Reading area (better than my iphone, not sure why) I made decision to go for the Eur version when it became apparent the ATT version would be limited to data (no phone) and I couldn't get an answer on whether the "North American" version (with 850 UMTS) would arrive with phone capability OK. I saw a map of ATT 1900 coverage and saw that it takes care of at least 75% of the US, including virtuall all of the East, so I'm comfortable with my decision.

Yes that's my hope. It's also probably a sign the AT&T one must be around the corner
I could not find out whether the Bell one would have call functions or not (That would be another great sign or opportunity)

Thanks for the info
The new HTC One is on sale now in Taiwan but with no 4G or LTE option. They really screwed their own people over by being so stingy and just offering a 3G Model only here in Taiwan. Currently I also only see a 16GB or 32GB Version with no 64GB Version. Imagine Apple modifying their iPhone 5 and sending Taiwan consumers the iPhone 5 with just 3G and 4G option inside their top of the line smartphone. HTC CEO should resign and HTC needs someone with a better brain to take over his position.

How sure are you there? Does the sim inserted in that handset do really have LTE coverage? I saw one post on the UK thread talking about the LTE option not showing up when the sim/network that the phone is using doesn't have LTE support.
One user there tried swapping a non LTE network sim & a LTE network sim then the LTE option shows up and dissappears when he used the non LTE network sim.

That is how it is on the iPhone 5 because with the iPhone 5 it comes with 4G/LTE Chipset where here they apparently took that option out and only supplied thier smartphones with a 3G chipset.

I was the poster who has no LTE options in my menus (on Three UK). I couldn't see any post from another user who tried swapping SIMs and the options show/disappear. Do you have a link? I hope I haven't been given a non-LTE handset!

None. basically it's the government screwed ourselves and all our ISP feel like earning more bucks by merely 3G.
BTW, hTC one 16G is only released in Taiwan.

I see.. then there's no point to get LTE version now. The LTE version is more future proof but new flagship come out every year. LTE version might also consume more battery and reserve more RAM for the network.

in a second, I found myself just can't disagree with THIS part. HTC got great designers/engineer but they got a xxxx CEO. Chow said he would step down if new ONE fails. That's so appealing that I almost want to NOT buy this phone. Well, almost.

They still only have 3G here because they are so freakin stingy and cheap. When Nokia and Sony/Ericsson offered to help Taiwan install their new 4G/LTE network Taiwan refused to save money and wanted to give their people the old system reserved currently for their military/army. No wonder Taiwan is lagging in Asia these days because many of these locals are so stingy to spend and look for more ways to save and cut and instead of spending and improving. Taiwan should have had 4G/LTE service long ago but "No,because no one wanted to spend and waste money on faster speeds"
The Koreans (South Korea) that is and Japanese always make the best and release the best in their markets first where Taiwan is probably the last to sell the best to their own people.
I mean what is the actual difference in cost between then 3G and 4G chipset?? They got a whole production line running here in manufacturing.

Im not sure but here in our country we get like everything thats available we have gsm, edge, cdma, wimax, hspa, hspa+, lte so I don't think its too expensive to think that your country is alot more progressive than ours.

I think 4G might be more expensive, here in Australia, 4G models are slightly more expensive compared to 3G.

For those who care, this is worth repeating.
There were originally two competing 4G standards: LTE and WiMax. The Taiwanese government worked with Intel on WiMax (which has been rolled out in certain areas), but eventually LTE become more widely adopted in the global marketplace. Now Taiwan is catching up a little, but aims to auction off its 4G LTE licenses this year, with services eventually coming a year or two later.
As for the HTC One, there are already several variants for different markets (i.e. with different LTE bands). If a market doesn't have LTE, then it might make sense to choose a cheaper 3.5G baseband chip instead (although I don't know if this is the case with Taiwan's model; after all the Nexus 4 had some form of hidden LTE support).
Anyway, it's clearly stated on HTC's Taiwan website, so no-one's being deceptive. If LTE is important (i.e. if you want to roam when traveling abroad), then buy from somewhere like Clove or Handtec that ship to Taiwan (it actually works out slightly cheaper than buying locally).

One of the more reasons people go to Hong Kong to shop instead of Taiwan. For every minus that their smartphones have in Taiwan it gives their competitor an edge in sales. Taiwan does get some tourists from China and other countries. In Korea and Japan they offer the best of the products in their own countries to their own people. HTC exports the better items and offers the smartphones with less features to their own people in their own country so they lose out to to their own customers from their own country and from tourist or visitors from abroad as well because instead of buying smartphones in Taiwan they will buy them in Hong Kong or Singapore where they do come with 4G or LTE.
I do like the HTC ONE but this was a very stupid marketing mistake on behalf of HTC Taiwan to sell the local version without 4G/LTE in their high end smartphone model.
I'd be really if it is not LTE capable as this is an innate part of the Quellcom chipset. Without an LTE sim, you simply don't get the menu option but it is still possible with the right sim card.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 doesn't have network modem integrated to it so HTC One is using a different chipset for networking radios.

Either that or one got one that just comes with 3G and no 4G or LTE like the ones being sold in Taiwan.
