I have CM7 Nightly #23, with CWM v4.0.
I'm trying to flash #26, but I'm getting the "E:can't mount /sdcard" error when trying to select the zip.
If I go into the Mounts and Storage menu, and try mounting /sdcard, it gives "Error mounting /sdcard!"
It mounts fine when Android is running and also when mounting the phone as USB storage in CWM, so it's obviously not a hardware error.
Any ideas?
Follow those steps.

It corrected the issue for me.

Searching the Cm7 Dev thread would have given you your answer...but the fix is right here.

Hi all,
i formatted my sdcard with ext3, but CM7 doesn't mount it. I changed the 'vfat' in the fstab to 'ext3', but it still dosn't mount the card. I can manually mount it with 'mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /sdcard', but then I can only access /sdcard via Terminal Emulator or the adb shell. Root explorer says that it is not mounted although it is mounted. Does anybody know how to fix that?

Hey dude, I feel ya. I wanted to ext3 all the way, but google thought Android users would rather use fat for their sdcards so we're bound to trying to work around it. You might want to look at your sdcard permissions, check that you have "X" permissions for user, group and other, or just go crazy and do "chmod -R 777 /sdcard".
You could look into what this guy did: http://android.modaco.com/topic/308568-how-can-i-bind-mount-eg-systemsdxxx-sdcardxxx/#entry1511967
but I backed out mainly because it looks too much like more trouble than its worth.
Good luck!
So, my Defy had been stuck on the CM logo a few days ago I decided on doing a wipe data and cache but it seems somewhere along the way something went wrong and now for some reason the internal storage disappeared, it just shows, in the storage tab, to be of 0.00b of size and 51.75mb of space used.
I don't know if it means anything but I'm also getting this errors on the recovery mode:
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/caller
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
Any help will be gladly appreciated, thanks.

Hi! I had encountered this (or a 99% similar) problem when I installed CM10 (which never worked ever...) and then it got bootloop, so after that I tried to revert back to CM9, and I got the Encryption Unsuccessful message, and when I tried to revert further more back, on CM7.x it just goes bootloop, no message. This problem WAS NOT caused by ext3/ext4 partition in my case, so it seemed that the ROM/CWM just lost it's permission to access the internal storage.
I solved the problem using the good old JORDN_U3_97.21.51.sbf which always did the trick. (You'll gotta go back to Éclair, than some tricky way to Froyo, what is known as the latest stock rom for Defy)

I'm trying to delete some stuff from other applications but it is showing error that don't mount sdcard as read only, now what to do in this situation please help...
Hi
I was able to install Link2SD Plus version on my rooted tablet but I'm seeing following message after reboot.
Notification: Mount warning
Since thee 2nd partition is not mounted during boot time it has been mounted after the system finishes.
Therefore your linked apps are not visible to the system at the moment.
To make them available again, please try 'Recreate mount scripts' or 'Quick reboot'
1. I tried 'Recreate option' but I have this warning always.
2. When I tried quick reboot I had screen flicker and still got the warning,
I see the ext4 partition mounted already

What should I do?
I also uploaded the link2sd log files found in /data/ directory
Thank you.
