Re-Partition in Odin with only PDA File - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi all,
I want to re-partition my Galaxy S I9000 to have a clear phone without any garbage from other ROM's installed. I want to start from a stock ROM (JPY) and then install a custom ROM.
If I download the stockrom JPY from samfirmware.com there is only one file in the rar (PDA only) and no PIT file.
Whitout the PIT File I cannot re-partition the phone, or not?
Somebody that can explain me how I can clean my phone?
br, Lecra

DON'T repartition with the single file ROM downloads, you'll more than likely brick your phone. Follow the instructions here to the letter and you'll be ok, I have used it a couple of times while dabbling with custom ROM's then returning to stock. It works a treat

If you re-partition your phone without flashing any ROM files as well you run the risk of messing up the partitions that hold your bootloaders and this will brick your phone as they won't be accessible! If you want to re-partition you can start out flashing a ROM that includes bootloaders with re-partition (eg, JPU), and then flash the PDA / Modem / CSC that you really want over the top. Be aware that there is always a danger of bricking your phone whenever you flash bootloaders!

bigdyl69,
Thank you for your quick answer!
I did all the stuff listed on the page you sent me and it works perfectly.
Unfortunately there is a misunderstanding from my side. I thought that this would also delete my sdcard so that I could start from the scratch! This is not the case during a re-partition.
Thank you anyway for this greast thread in how to restore the phone on a stockrom.

repartition have nothing to do with bootloaders.
you could repartition phone as many times as you want and yours download mode will still be working.
in Richthofen topics with rom there is even instruction to first only repartition without any rom file and then rerun odin with rom.
one more thing. do NOT use roms with bootloaders if yours are workig fine, because that is the only way to brick the phone (jig needed)

If you want to format your sd card so its completely blank, go to settings, then sd card and storage options (I think) and the option to format the internal sd card is in there. You can do that without having to flash any Roms

[Q] Downgrade ZSLPF to GB 2.3.6

Hello Everyone.
I have read so much negative comments on people bricking their GNote by doing data wipe in CWM. So I have steer clear from anything that has a LPY kernel and my GNote is not rooted and no ClockWorkMod Recovery has ever been installed on the device. It is a pure Stock GNote.
Yesterday I decided to go jump a cliff and install ZSLPF stock rom using the PC Odin v1.85 with every boxes ticked just as it shown on the web. Yes the works.
re-partition tick
pit tick
bootloader tick
pda tick
modem tick
csc tick
Installation ran smoothly and everything started up with no problem except a couple of bugs I found in the OS.
1. double click home to start voice talk. program start but it is not register anything from mic. have to cancel it to start again for it to work.
2. Network error occur while accessing Youtube App from a link within an email, but accessing the same link using Internet browser is fine.
3. Don't really like the S Bookmark widget and I miss the buddy widget from Touchwiz
Base on the above reasons, I would very much like to drop the rom back to Gingerbread. But since I have flashed the pit and bootloader from ZSLPF when I upgrade. I'm not really sure which would be a better way to downgrade it:
This is for a pure stock, un-rooted, no CWM only has stock recovery and no custom rom has ever been installed on the device.
I ask please if anyone can help me choose the following. I'm comfortable flashing using PC Odin
1. Flash 2.3.6 GNote stock rom over the stock ZSLPF stock ICS
2. Flash 2.3.6 GNote stock rom with pit and bootloader
3. other suggestions from above
Thanks in Advance
Bad Idea my friend
I think u got bigger things to worry about especially the eMMC firmware bug since now u are in line to receive it by moving to ICS
once you flash the bootloader, you cannot get back to GB already...
I have flashed to LPF via MobileOdin. I had to restored to gb via Cwm recovery from lpf after I changed something. After that I flashed back again using mobileodin. No issues.

err.
i was able to restore to stock GB via pc odin with pit and repartition and the GB i chose only had the one file and no boot loader.
I did this so that i can move to CM9
so IT is possible to go back to GB.
Sorry to OP. Just seen the post saying do not post any question. I will start this thread in the a&a again. Very sorry

Did you use the pit file from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530501
I'm planning to use the above pit file and bootloader to flash the phone together with a directly rootable rom.
But let me gather my courage first

Yes that's the pit with repartition checked
I flashed back to a rootable gb
The rootable gb did not come with a bootloader so it's safe to revert to
I then rooted the gb and went back to cm9 all in all a 15 min process

Are those links only for pit files or do they include everything? Do you have to use a pit file for going back to GB?

Thank Nandihno
I have sucessfully downgrade ZSLPF ~ ICS to ZSKJ6 ~ GB
I used the pit file from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1530501
I used the Bootloader file from here: (It might not be necessary, but I did it anyway)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23052721#post23052721
I choose ZSKJ6 because it is a direct rootable rom
Flashed all of the above using PC Odin v3 1.85 with re-partition ticked.
The installation process went smoothly but the restart was a little bumpy. Got constant FC error at the "Change Language" screen and goes any further. Have to go into stock recovery to preform a wipe on data and cache and woa'la. It's all Good and Happy Days.
Thanks again Mate

Galaxy S3 i9300 Unbrick [restore to stock rom] [noobs][easy]

Hi guys! This is a noob-proof guide on how to flash stock samsung firmware on your i9300. Whether you have bricked it or just want the stock firmware back. Here's how to do it (detailed explaination)
WARNING! : This is only for the GT i9300 (international version) , Check your device before proceeding. Also you might lose all your data. So backup! i am not responsible if you brick your phone(although very unlikely) by not following the guide properly
Also you will lose your custom recovery, Custom ROM and will not longer have root
Ok lets begin!
1. Make sure you have the samsung drivers installed on your pc (http://bit.ly/SDaIIE)
2. Your device should have at least 80% battery left
3. Enable USB Debugging by going to Settings>Developer Options>Tick the Usb debugging tick box!
Files needed :
1. Android 4.1.2 I9300XXEMC3 for Galaxy S3 I9300 - http://www.hotfile.com/dl/202240205/4dcf384/I9300XXEMC3_I9300NEEEMC1_NEE.zip.html
2. Odin 3.07 - http://bit.ly/16aRzF4
Extract The firmware Zip file until you get a file with a .tar extension and some other files. Do not extract furthur
Extract odin zip file till you get Odin3 v3.07.exe
Now here comes the actual flashing part
1. Power off your smartphone. Wait 5-6 seconds for vibration to confirm complete switch off.
2. Now, get into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power button simultaneously until Samsung Galaxy logo appears in phone screen. Wait few seconds and your phone will be in download mode.
3.Open odin as administrator and connect your s3 to your computer with usb cable
4. You will get a message "Added" in the message box in odin and You should also see COM port with a number in Yellow if you successfully added your device.
if you don't get this , try another usb port.. if it still doesn't come , reinstall drivers.
5. Select these files from I9300XXEMC3 folder in Odin at respective buttons:
Click the PDA Button, and select the .tar.md5 file here with *code* appearing in its name
Click the Phone Button, and select file with *modem* in its name (leave if there is no such file)
Click the CSC Button, and select file with *csc* in its name (leave if there is no such file)
Click the PIT Button, and select the .pit file. Use only if you got it while extracting , otherwise ignore it.
6. make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected. Also, make sure that Re-Partition checkbox is selected, only if you are using a .pit file
7. Double check everything above and hit start!
8. once flashing is complete the phone will reboot automatically and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can then unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.
After completing these steps, Make sure to wipe the cache and do a factory reset in clockworkmod recovery if you do happen to find yourself in a bootloop (phone rebooting continuously) Or just do it anyways to prevent a bootloop from occurring.
congrats! , you have just restored your i9300!
If this has helped you make sure to hit the thanks button!

Yes and no... You must reformat partitions and upload an ICS bootloader. Not for the regular user i'm afraid

This normally happens when the partitions on the embedded multi media card gets corrupted for whatever reason, also known as the emmc.
The phone can be revived by flashing a pit file to repartition the emmc in order so it can be written to.
Download and unzip this file and you will have a .pit file which you put in the tab marked PIT in Odin
GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit = Galaxy S3 of 16 Gb
GT-I9300_mx_20120322.pit = Galaxy S3 of 32 Gb
GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit = Galaxy S3 of 64 Gb
(Just google the one that you need and download it)
Next make sure > r partition, f /reset, and auto reboot are ticked in options in Odin.
Next put the stock rom in the tab marked PDA, if flashing a custom rom then flash a rooted kernel first in PDA together with the pit file, hit start and start the flashing process, afterwards this will also give you the option of flashing the rom from recovery, next, flash the custom rom from Odin or from recovery
When finished the phone should reboot and start up.

If it is an official ROM package, it shouldn't trigger yellow triangle.
Even in that case, you can use Triangle Away app from Chainfire and see how it comes to zero

[Q] Unusual s4 brick help

Forgive my noobishness. I've actually lurked xda boards for years and used the EXCELLENT user made guides for all my phones. However, I'm at a complete loss and nothing I've searched, read, or tried has worked and it's consumed my entire day and left me with no phone at all. I cannot believe this phone can be dead unless there's some physical problem so I'm really hoping someone can walk me back to normal.
I bought a new S4 from T-Mobile on Labor Day (obviously I'm in the US). 2 days ago I rooted it successfully using Jimmy Mcgee's video and the various links including mattlgroff's and k0nane's threads. No problems whatsoever. After I did that I used Ti Backup and backed up the apps just in case, then I ran the moderate version of the Truly Clean script and did a factory reset. Everything was perfect. Then...
My wireless data stopped connecting. But that's not my current problem.
I decided to unroot and go back to factory to a) see if something I did was causing the data issue or b) take it back for an exchange at the store. I started with the K0nane and the Samersh72 guides, but frankly tried so many things and failed I don't know were I went wrong. First I tried M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_M919UVUAMDL_HOME.tar.md5
Then I tried Samsung-Updates.com-KERNEL-SGH-M919-TMB-M919UVUAMDL-1366964131.tar
Then I tried the one I did to root it OUDHS-Recovery-jfltetmo-1.0.3.3.tar
Mostly I have gotten a NAND writing fail in Odin with everything I tried (yes I tried making sure Kies is off, the original usb cable, and another PC) which then locks me out of the recovery boot screen and gives me some yellow triangle between a phone and a pc with an error about the stock firmware and tells me to connect to Kies. I can fix that by flashing this PIT file CSB_signed_Fusion3_EUR_0325_V2.pit which allows me to go back to the OUDhs recovery screen.
Also Kies will no longer connect to this device and it says driver install failure when I connect it to the PC (except it stell charges, using the stock cable still).
Dear god someone help me, and I will buy you a beverage. I'm doing instant email notifications of replies. PLEASE.
I'm not sunk yet. I'm rereading the FAQs and guides and I'm going to start over to where I was able to get the rooted version to work. I know the CWM recovery is working so we'll see.

Ok I will try that. Also I am now trying to flash Samsung-Updates.com-SGH-M919-TMB-M919UVUAMDL-1366964131\M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_M919UVUAMDL_HOME.tar.md5
I am getting a little farther in the Odin process but it still says fail right after
aboot.mbn
Also I originally followed Jonny's video and only flashed the cwm custom recovery though odin. I flashed the rooted zip file from my phone's internal sd card like in the video. Now I can't get to the internal memory so I tried saving the zip file (the one I used to root it) on the ext sd card. I'm unable to flash that rooted zip from the ext sd card because the phone wants to reboot as soon as it starts doing so.
Is there a way to flash that rooted zip file (or a stock one) from an external sd card?
Is there a way to flash that rooted zip file through odin?
All you have to do is get into download mode and flash stock mdl tar with odin. After it's finished, it'll go into recovery by itself and wipe some small cache partition by itself, after it does that, hold onto the volume up button and get into recovery again and do a factory reset. This is so you don't go into a bootloop. Now get CF auto root and flash it so ur rooted. Next flash a custom recovery and ur all set. It's really easy to do.

Yes. Also when it fails, it locks me out of the recovery mode. Can you tell me what happens when you flash a new PIT file? Doing that alone does not get a FAIL message and it brings back the recovery screen. However, when I select the pit file it automatically selects the re-partition option which the k0nane says is a no-no (at least for flashing the pda, not sure about the pit which is why I'm asking).

Pit file basically means repartitining the storage chip of your device. Yes odin will automatically check repartition when flashing pit files. Flashing pit file is serious business. I recommend following the unbrick/ unroot thtead in the general section. Its pretty precise and I think since you are getting repeated fails in odin you will have to flash pit file.
You will be fine if you follow the instructions there precisely.

OMG it worked. K0nane's procedure worked on a different pc. Dowloaded a fresh Kies but didn't install any of the extra stuff with it. Downloaded, extracted, and ran odin as admin. Hooked it up. Downloaded and extracted the UVUAMDL tar. Put that in the pda box and hit start. Mine would immediately FAIL but this one kept working, and working, and working and reboote. Why why why? I've been at this for about 16 hours. That makes no sense. Thanks anyway. I'll try the other root method when I'm feeling brave again.

[Q] Bootloop even after changing ROM - problems with mounting /data

Hi guys,
I've got a problem. On Tuesday I was updating my apps on Google Play - I've updated some apps and started just to use them. One of them was popular messenger in Poland. Something's went wrong and my smarthphone freezed. I pulled out the battery after few minutes to prepare a 'soft reset', but it stucked on bootloop. I've tried to make a wipe /data, but it couldn't even mount /data, so I decided to change the ROM from networks' one to newest stock one (one file rom). Everything's went good, but it still stucks on bootloop on another boot animation. I've tried also repartitioning it using the stock rom with "totoro_0623.pit" - still the same. Wiping data after flashing didn't give any change.
When the phone was restarting after the last flash, they was written that /data can't be mounted (invalid arguments).
I don't know what should I do right now. Do you have any propositions for me?
Thanks in advance!
you can try with my firmeware
download
http://d-h.st/FhE
unzip the file
put phone into download mode
connect to pc
start odin
put the files in the following places in odin
pda in pda
modem in phone
csc in csc
begin flashing
do not remove the cable untill the phone has fully booted
it will enter stock recovery and flash csc and restart itself so leave cable connected
this firmware is a wipe pack so it should wipe all your partitions
if it fails you can try with the pit file but do not tick the repartition box in odin or you will be in trouble as you need to also include bootloader files for that

Is it recognized as a stock rom? And the second question: what should I do when I have tick on 'repartition'? What changes will be done then? I thought it's just repartitioning and the bootloader is still the same, without any changes.

if you tick repartition it will wipe your boot partition and your phone wont be able to boot which is why you have to put bootloader files in
you dont need to repartition - in all the times iv flashed stock roms iv never had to do it
That link is for stock room firmware XXMI1 on baseband XXMC2 - its european firmware but will work on any gt-s5360 to get it working
You can always change to another baseband if you find you have no network by flashing a stock rom from your region
Sorry but I didn't have enough time to prepare it in this week. As I saw, I probably need also the bootloader files. Can somebody point me which one will be good? And another question: after changing bootloader the counter on downloading mode will be incremented?

[Q] Need help flashing a S4 bricks every time!

I have acquired an SHV-E330L and It was flashed in the wrong order. The newest rom was flashed without making sure it was done in the correct order. It will not flash with out destroying the partition on the phone. No matter if you try to flash Clockworks or a different rom it bricks and requires a PIT flash to recover. I need to re flash it because the current rom has glitches and the phone is not working well. Thanks in advance for any help. I just want it to flash correctly again. THANKS!!!!
Have you tried to flash any of Official firmwares?
What rom you had before and whitch one you tried to flash?
If you want to flash correctly then start from 0. Meaning do a factory reset from recovery, which will wipe the internal storage and everything.
Or flash that pit file.

Not sure I just acquired it from a buddy that messed it up. I got the rom from a link on this site. Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2587037 I had the newest file on the list in .zip but I did not have the steps so that rom on top was flashed to revive the device. Now I dont know how to fix it. I need the files and steps to flash it. Im still kinda learning this phone stuff I paint cars for a living lol...
I have done that and I just fails durring flash and simi-briks untill I flash the Pit file. Even if I try to flash Clockworks to the phone it fails and requires the .pit file once again to be usable. Im still learning this phone stuff so maybe I need a step by step for the dumb lol.....

If you want to flash correctly then start from 0. Meaning do a factory reset from recovery, which will wipe the internal storage and everything.
Or flash that pit file.
