Yeah lol I'm honestly kinda worried that the market is going to be over saturated with Android phones. BUT.. this is great for us, because more phones = more users, more users = more devs, more devs = more great apps! The only problem is, there has to be a standard so that people don't buy crap phones and get upset when a lot of apps don't run!

i am actually enjoying it because android is pushing cell phone technology like microsoft used to push pc technology in the early days (imho).
i mean really, we just got big 4" screens last year and we already have lcd superscreens and amoled plus screens and now dual core cpus... its great
So how does everyone feel that apple has stolen the things that set android apart? Such as the drag down notifications! I think that for a company that loves sueing people, its a bit funny that they'd steal something so obvious as this...? It actually angers me!

Steal something? What they have done is a stroke of engineering genius that's accessible to the common user. Android's version is much more geeky and could never get mainstream usage.

Swings and round abouts, it was actually the jailbreak community they stole everything from. Lots of pee'd of dev's now with redundant apps.
Hell they even employed a dev after already sticking his notification app into iOS 5 - way to avoid any legal issues.
on another note it actually looks more advanced that the android notification system.
without Apple and ios most phones would still be stuck on symbian with Nokia sitting in its hands milking the same crappy and outdated OS for years to come.
Let Apple copy and play catch-up , not a big deal imo.

it was a sarcastic pop at what apple would say about it, as they claim everything they do is mechanical genius and android is full of geeks in labcoats
Well they are sore losers 1st they sue htc then sammy and now they coppy them and Google I mean they are so FAKE they dont have there own ideas so they copy others ideas? :S ios 5 is a complete android ripoff anyway who cares we still top the charts in sales dev community apps better hardware etc the sgs 2 beat the iphone 4 sales by 10 million even though its not released everywhere

I don't see the point of this thread. Oir the point of XDA keeping a separate domain for iPhone developers. Don't we all have smartphones in the end? Wouldn't it be better if we all had a common hub for developers to influence each other? I'd love a Blackberry section as well...
Enviado desde mi R800i
I have the xperia play, ipod touch, iphone 3GS and Ipad 2. I am enjoying both OS's and am glad that the best features are making it to both.
Think of it this way android is linux open source. Almost all innovation from linux is stolen without credit where it due.
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
All in all, I'm glad iOS is getting new features. It actually benefits us when manufacturers add these things because it brings competition. I just don't like how Jobs and all of the tech magazines/websites will tout this and other features as groundbreaking additions pioneered by Apple.

i love being an Anti APPLE
Yeah I suppose you guys are right. I just cant stand the people that will look at ios and say down when android has had these features for years.

I agree, I think iPhones (and Blackberrys to some extent) are waaaaaaay over rated, they just have alot of hype.
Take BBM for example, it is almost exactly the same as WhatsApp, yet everyone is going nuts about it. The only feature it has over WhatsApp, is that is has a notification system where it tells you when the recipient has read the message. On the other hand, WhatsApp imo, is alot better because it supports Android, Nokia handsets, IPhone and I think, although not sure, BlackBerry too.
Besides, whats so much better about the iPhone/iPads? Except the fact that everyone glorifies them for no justified reason
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
whatsapp has nearly the same. 1 green mark next to a message says it's safely off your phone on the interwebs
2 green marks next to each other say it has landed on the device of the receiver.
just thinking open source projects always get s**t on. KHTML by Apple, KDE candy by Windows, LibreOffice by OpenOffice and mySQL in general.

I say is Google's loss on that one, thay had all this time to actually get with the man that changed this OS and made this happen (CM). Now Samsung is going with the expertise from someone that knows this code and will make it more user friendly!
CM is good, but I still prefer plain old Android myself. Good for him though, dude.

Hi there, in short is it worthy to buy a WP8 like Luma 920? It looks great ,actually its better than the SGS3 at&t version in hardware aspect , yet I'm fried that it'll be costly and unable to ,, unlook ~so you can download paid app 4 free ,for a while, I believe that Nokia took out the SD card so u can't unlook, also I'm fried that Nokia will dump it year later as the Luma 900 ?so r u optimistic about it? Currently I have no money, so I'll wait for the next iPhone ,Note2, HTC new power full device, log optimus G, and of course the Luma

WP8 will remain supported for a while (2 years or so)
No, you can't unlock it, and you shouldn't unlock it unless you are a developer. Paying for your apps is something you should do, because these apps do not write themselves.
Actually, no, I'm not afraid that WP8 might make it harder to steal apps, because I don't intend to steal anything in the first place. If money is a problem for you, get a mid-range Android and enjoy the fact that many of the apps are free.
The thing is Android become very boring ,so the iOS , I would like to try a new OS without my freedom gone, probably I'll stack to Android

That's not why I meant by freedom , I mean things like using my phone as a flash memory ,ran all different kind of files without any interfere from iTunes or iOS ,I'm not a thief ,actually buying apps in my country started to months ago, so where should I got those apps before now, as soon I got enough money for both phone and apps(I keep saving money for year and half to buy my current SGS1 ),only and only if that happened, I'll pay for apps gladly, here I rest my case :sly:

your generation saved for a year and a half to buy a phone, like the OP?
or, your generation was the most energy, public resource, and environment wasting generation yet?
lets not get started on what the finance industry has been turned into. if market collapses, just start a war to prop it up?
hmm

Oh c'mon... enough of hypocrisy. Knights of f...ing Justice.
OMG the OP actually has made be angry!!! This idea that its ok to steal because lets blame the banks or the government etc is the biggest cr4p in the world. Your scum and are destroying the industry just look at the PC games market. I love the idea of hacking a phone to unlock it to side load apps that are otherwise not available but to do it to rip of hard working underpaid devs is nothing but cheap nasty and chav! If you cant afford it get a better job or get something cheaper, I mean if you can afford a nice new wp8 handset you can affor 79p for an app.
Thanks for lighting me up , now I know steal is wrong, I'll not steal an app, ever

Hey guys, check out this cool app here-
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.helloklick.android
Note:You'll need to buy a really 'cheap on pocket' device to use it which doubles up as a Dust-Plug.. Or rather I should say, it's actually a Dust Plug that doubles up(or even more)..
I just now ordered it and it costed me only US$ 2.24 including shipping money
Waiting eagerly for it to arrive to me..
I'm not posting any links here to the device because I'm not sure as to whether it'll be an infringement of XDA's rules..
For those who're worried that it might get lost while using earphones-it has a solution to it too..
Last but not least, it couples up with Tasker.. :victory:
Here's a quick video, the version of app is old here though, but it'll familiarize you with the device and the app itself-
http://youtu.be/CQJvdU7TPBs
It'll work for Android devices only.. Not sure about the minimum version of Android required though..
Let me know how this turns out for you

I did a quick search and liked the idea but the problem I think would be that in pocket, those 4 buttons could be activated due to its placement on the backside, talking of backside of phone, I use a wallet case for my Note 3 and that wouldn't let me use Dimple..
You know what..
I just now figured out that, the button on the earphone would function like the button on this smart dust plug when one is using the earphone.. :victory:
For those of you interested in it, it's called-
360 Universal 3.5mm Plug One-click Shortcut Key
Pretty long name I know..
But what's in the name..
And the name of the app is Klick
It's available here for download..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...m=klick&pcampaignid=APPU_57SwU7qWI8WFOL7dgegJ
Great thing-it won't compromise with the security of your phone.
Pre-assigned app will be launched and using that app to navigate further into system will take you back to the lock screen..

Battery performance is still fine for me..
I came across Pressy only after I ordered the Smart Dust Plug for myself and realised that the Chinese manufacturers copied this idea too..
Because they weren't required to put in R&D like the Pressy guys did, it costs only a small fraction of it without the need to wait for it to get delivered..
It's sad for the Pressy guys but you just can't stop the Chinese manufacturers..
InPrivate
Could anyone please share the Activation Code of their Pressy, I want to give the related app a try with my Dust Plug. .
