[Q] Computing... - Epic 4G General

After I go Settings > Applications > Manage Applications all I can see every apps is "Computing..." and can't do anything else.
Do you know how I can fix it? I've tried to reflash Rom but after booting getting the same.

I fixed it. Cleaned Data and Cash from Market. But first I cleaned Cash and Dalvik cash trough CWM.
Seems like it is working now.

As I understand it is not a ROM. It is the Market 2.2.11

how many apps do you have installed? that seems crazy.. even with the latest market. Just testing it now, (and I have about 100 apps), the names come up immediately, and the icons appear in about 10 seconds. (DK28, EXT4).

Next time try go back and toggle filter all, download and u see icons and apps right away.

Noticed one more thing. I've had setInstallLocation 2 (external) and with Market 2.2.11 it was "Computing..". I couldn't update some of the apps I have. After I've changed setInsyallLocation to 0 apps installed. No more "Computing...".

Correct it will work better. I had tons of issues getting it to work from my phone. so I just did everything from the computer and then downloaded it from my phone's browser.

Problems with every rom

I've tried many different roms such as jvo, jvh, jvp and jvq. I've tried darkys, juwes, gingerreal , f1, insanity and miui but they all have these problems after the phone has been 'up' for over a day. When I exit a game using home or back my launcher restarts.

The same game and the same launcher always : maybe are not compatible.

You are using tw launcher ? If not, you should check your task killer program. Maybe you got the option "stAy in ram". If yes, choose it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175514&highlight=launcher+restarts
I havent tried the stuff in this thread but it is interesting, and on the second page, there is a posted .apk that apparently solves it..
Like saphirrot said, if the launcher has a 'stay in mem' option, check it. I've done that with Launcher Pro and the launcher restart happens far far less.
It's just android freeing up ram for the game. It's a pain in the ass but better than not being able to run a game because of low memory.

I use super manager or astro manager. They have app managers and allow you to install .apk files. Super manager is great if you have root access as you can uninstall bloatware apps like aldiko, layar etc. Make sure to backup app just in case anything goes wrong.

I use AppInstaller. Very simple.
Thanks guys I installed the apk and my launcher no longer restarts but apps still close even when I go off them using the home button so I can return to them in a minute and be where I left it. Is there any apk for this as it is frustrating when you go off an app for a minute only to find it's closed when u go back on it.

Actually the apk hasn't worked. Launcher is still rebooting when I go back to the home screen.

Nothing is wrong. It's running out of memory. Android shall release background tasks if foreground tasks need the memory. Since Gingerbread, you can no longer force most things to stay in memory so those features are mostly useless these days. Should have kept to one ROM and asked your question in its thread. Too many things to suggest to tune it properly really. Uninstalling system apps you don't use and trying different kernels are your last options.

This is completely unacceptable then, you can't even multitask. And after the phone has been 'up' for over 12 hours you can't even keep the dialer in memory! There must be a way around this. A smartphone should not take over 3 seconds to open the dialer.

I have never seen this problem before, and since it so several I have to assume that if other people had it, they would have posted about it.
That means that it is either due to a problem with your hardware, or due to something you are installing/configuring. I would do a full factory default then add apps back very slowly, one by one, doing some basic testing in between. That way you may be able to isolate the problem.
If it still happens right after the factory reset, take the phone to a service center.

I have seen people talk about it but the answers are since gingerbread apps get closed because of memory meaning that the dialer doesn't even stay in memory after the phone has been booted.for a while.

Camera settings forgets shortcuts!

Whenever I add icons to the left hand bar in the camera (standard are 2 but you can add 2 more.
Inevitably whenever the camera app closes down, it forgets the 2 shortcuts I added. I am on firmware xxki4.
Am I alone?
Any remedy>
Didn't know u can add 2 more shortcuts, thanks for this.
I added 2 shortcuts and close the camera, opened again, still there, closed again, closed camera app from task (ES task manager) opened again, still there...
(rom: flashed XWKI8)
I tried clearing data for camera and then they seemed to stick when adding them. But lost em again after a hard reset.
I am having the exact same problem on ki4
Posted from Galaxy S II
thinking oif going to another firmware or rom, but if i do will i lose all my data or will it flash over it.
seems to be fine on my ki4
added the shortcuts, closed app, re opened and still there, the same when i cleared the ram and when i rebooted the phone.
weird mine stays if i just close the app but i i use built in task manager to close it they are gone next time i open the camera app
I'm having the exact same problem! So annoying!

Or AntTek App Manager, free.
You can natively freeze them with ICS, in your app drawer (stock TW Launcher) drag the app icon to app info, and click disable
I removed them. No need to freeze if your plan on not using them. Free up internal space.

From your app drawer, click and hold on the program you want, and it should take you to your home screen....at the top you should see "App Info". Drag the app icon onto that and it'll display the info you need.

hrmm...maybe it's because I haven't had my morning tequila shot yet but I don't see any such app info icon when I do what you're saying. I go to the app drawer, click and hold an app, it takes me to the home screen, but there's nothing anywhere that says app info.
Could this be something that's not on the ATT version of the phone?
::edit:: ok...I'm an idiot. I found it....but it's at the bottom of the screen, not at the top.
I just disabled them except for samsung account which I use for Samsung Dive.

I had to uninstall updates and then disable became an option.
Using the app info method works great if you are not rooted.
In the event you are rooted, using TB is easier. both work without any issues for all listed apps in the op.

No sir. You can do this with most of the pre-installed carrier software. I believe the option is "disable". When you see it you'll know what I mean. In fact it was the one thing that made me think that I wouldn't have to root my phone. Then I quickly got annoyed by the T-Mobile startup and shut down sounds. Can someone please tell T-Mobile to leave the standard start up and shut down sequence alone. I mean expect that from Verizon; Have you heard any of their phones start up? They're crazy obnoxious.
Great feature! You can also go to settings-applications-all and do or that way. Just uninstall updates and then you will have the disable button. Thanks for the top all.

The nav bar is part of the SystemUI, not part of the launcher. You have to use a theme/xposed or decompile SystemUI.apk to change the resource.

I'm with you on the force close. It installs fine but on the first reboot search force closes and I also have to restore a backup.
