I had a good look around before posting this thread, so if it's a duplicate, apologies.
I flashed the stock 3.14 ROM for Vodafone HD2 and I'm pretty happy with it, except the phone screen doesn't work properly. Everything else seems to be ok, and I like the extra buttons the new ROM provides on the phone screen, but when I make a call, the screen freezes so I can't use the keypad or the end call button. Is there a fix for this please?
Thanks in advance, as always!
A
maybe bsb
There is a setting in bsb tweaks that caused this on my phone...was "tap time" i think...took a ton of searching there is so much here on this great site...anyway i had to turn that setting off, and it fixed it instantly...before that nothing on the touch screen during a call would work...i think tap time was it, if it wasnt that it was one of the other settings in BSB...good luck
edit--from what i understand it is just a registry tweak, to prevent accidental clicking on links....it could be the current registry value you have set if you dont have bsb installed.
Just tried the BSB fix - it works, thanks!!!
Same here. I am sure glad that I found this thread!
I have noticed the onscreen end call button not working for a couple of weeks. As the other poster, inconvenient, but not a disaster, as I could use the physical end button to end the call. I wondered though, if something was wrong with my touch screen?
Then today, while on a call where you hae to choose from the damn menus, I pressed the onscreen keypad button, and nothing happened. I could not figure out any alternative way to open the keypad, so I could not complete the call.
When I got home, I first tried a Google web search, could not find an answer. But a search on XDA brought me here. Great to find this thread. Unchecked that option in BSB, rebooted, made a call, the keypad and end button work.
Now the question is--has anyone notified the folks who make BSB Tweaks, about this problem. If it is a problem that occurs with many phones, they should perhaps remove that option. If it is only a problem with HD2, and others find the option useful, there should be a warning that pops up, about problems with that option on the HD2.
It should probably be in the thread about BSB Tweaks as well, to warn HD2 users from checking that option. Has that been done already?
Sorry to be such a novice but what is BSB?

BsB Tweaks is a tweak app for Windows Mobile as is Touch Tools. Touch Tools is more spacific to the HD2 though. Go to HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 themes & apps forum and do a search for them, you will be glad uou did.

Hi. I posted my virgin post on the back of a thread some time back, but unfortunately got no replies. I've been scratching my head for ages with my problem and was considering selling my HD, but would really like to keep it as its otherwise a great phone.... My problem is virbration/shakes of the phone rotate my Tomtom app and other app's randomly and frequently. This is a problem for me when I mount my phone on my motorcycle to use it as a satnav. I've made myself tired trawling through the net and on here, but can't find any answers. Did a clear storage to manufactures settings [it would not 'hard reset' for some reason], various rotation 'apps' and HD tweak, but nothing seems to hold the orientation of the screen when subjected to vibration. Been in touch with HTC and they said its possibly my G-sensor not reading my settings, [eg] when the G-sensor is 'dis-abled' in settings, the internet and messaging, etc, screens still rotate when I flip the phone.... Am I right to assume the supposedly obvious that the G-sensor being switched off should stop these certain apps from flipping? Any other things I should know or could try, before I reluctantly send my phone in to HTC service.... Appreciate any advice.....
Go to registry
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor
You'll see two subfolders there - just delete them and auto-rotation will be disabled for ALL aplications (but gsensor will still be working in apps which use it). You can then use changescreen or other soft to set autorotation for certain apps, or map a key to an app which rotates screen - this will give you manual screen rotation.
Alternatively you can find tomtom in those folders and just delete it's entry - this will disable autorotation for tomtom and leave everything else untouched.
WOW.... Well made up! Thanks for your prompt reply and via your great advice my problem seems to be sorted. Deleted the Tomtom folder in registry as you explained, added Changescreen and now I've got the 'stationary' landscape screen I've so long searched for... Brilliant! Out of a learning curve curiosity am I right in saying swithching off the G-sensor via settings should of stopped the screen flipping in the first place?
Further answer or not, thank you 'very' much for making my day and have a good one yourself......
CHEERS!!!
Yes, switching the g-sensor off should disable the auto-rotation. The problem is, that doing it via settings doesn't work and g-sensor is still active Once I've been looking for a way to completely disable g-sensor (to check how this will affect battery life) but I couldn't find anything on the subject. g-sensor enabled applications will still be using it no matter what you set in settings or registry...
Seems strange. HTC told me that switching off G-sensor via settings should stop auto rotation such as messaging and internet which led me to believe I had a problem on my HD and to follow there advice to send my phone into them. Whats the point in having an option to switch it off, if it doesn't have any effect?!... Still, I'm happy now having done what you explained earlier....
Thanks.
After having tried many w6.5 roms, I've decided to go back to the stock 6.1 ROM, which suits 99% of my needs.
I can live with the limitations on this version, but there is ONE things that REALLY annoys me which is the stoopid "Slide down for more options" screen while on a call, which gives you access to the speakerphone, mute, calendar, etc buttons.
Is there any way to disable that screen (thus providing direct access to all the buttons / functions without having to slide it down) on the stock 6.1 rom? Any registry settings?
Thanks for your help
cheers
found other threads on this but no real answers...other than installing a Rodhium dialer, which I dont want to.

Unfortunately, changing the dialer or at least adding a different one is your only option.
Hello, I too have gone from 6.5 to stock 6.1 rom i found 6.5 was a bit slowwer for what i wanted.
I use Touch InCall Screen Tweak Config ( a cab program i found on here) it does not elimatinate the curtain but when on a call it turns off the screens when its near your ear and when u take it away from your ear while in a cal it brings up the screen with out the curtain for a few seconds so u have access to it. After about 4 seconds the curtian comes back, i found it ample time to play around with the call buttons.
I hope this helps

just did the same thing, I had turned on the screen sensitivity one and the tap option right below it.
Change them back and you'll be ok. Not sure which of the 2 settings caused it, so you can try each and see which one is the culprit..
If you look it up on the forum elsewhere this problem has been mentioned before. You have to turn the tap time option off and your incall screen buttons will work.

yep, that's why I was trolling/searching for my issue and found his thread, but I figured it out mostly on my own...thanks for the tip, now I know which one was the culprit...
I am using the T-Mobile US version of the HD2.
Whenever I make a call the dialer screen stops responding to touch, that includes the entire screen, not only the dialer buttons (sometimes if I rub the button it will respond, but most of the times it won't).
If I press the home button during the call the screen starts responding to touch again, but if I go back to the dialing screen its stops working again.
If I end the call using the hard button the dialer screen starts responding to touch again.
I hard reset the phone and the problem disappeared and then after a few days started again.
The proximity sensor works fine during the call and turns off the screen if I place the phone next to my face and turns it on again if I move the phone away from my face.
Anyone has a fix for this problem?
i had the same problem with one of energy's roms, but with all the flashing and different cabs, i never isolated the problem.
flash and rom and install your cabs one by one?
do you have bsb tweaks installed by any chance?
Same problem here, HD2 T-mobile dialer not responding
Same exact problem here.
Using the US stock HD2 T-mobile ROM with HTC sense Today's plugin disable (using spb pocket plus, phone weaver and Pocket Breeze instead).
Once I initiate a call the screen stops responding.
I used Kaiser Tweaks to change the dialer to the "Windows Mobiel Dialer"... now, the screen works fine, but when dialing a number I can't see any of the contact information. Also, with windows mobile dialer the proximity sensor is not working, so my face keeps activating buttons on the phone now.
Need help here!!!
I have BSB installed.
Also have many other cab's installed, so can't tell when or which software caused this.
Also, when tried to enable HTC sense again... the phone crashes... tooke me another 2 hours of reset'ing untill I was able to disable Sense and revert to windows 6.1 today's screen.
Turn off the BsB Tweak "tap time". That causes this problem.

IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!!
The HD2 dialer is working again
Thank you!
Any idea why the WM dialer is not showing the contacts?
The fix worked, but...
That fix worked, the problem is I like the tap delay setting. without it I launch programs by mistake almost all the time while scrolling.
I tried to play with the registry value the fix changes:
HKLM/System/GWE/Touch/Filter/Minimumtaptime
the initial value is 0, the tweak changes it to 30, I tried lowering the value all the way to 10 and still every time the dialer screen stops responding while talking on the phone. It works fine once the value is reset to 0.
Does anyone know how to change the tap delay and stop the problem from happening? The answer might be found if we know why does it only happen in the dialer screen? Maybe there is a registry value for the dialer that is causing a conflict.
Thank you johncmolyneux!!! Enabled this recently to see how it worked and noticed the dialer stop responding, searched the forums and found this. Thanks!
Works like a charm!!
thanks, been looking for that for a long time...
changed BsB tap settings to off, soft reset, and now the HD2 touch screen works again during a call, so I can use the speaker and dialpad
Thanks a lot, Worked like a charm for me! Strange thing to include that tweak in BsB though - maybe works for other models/ROMs..
Heartfelt thanks
I recently updated my stock ROM and encountered this problem. After searching the forums I found this solution. MANY THANKS Mr M!
I just got this HD2 phone for about 2 weeks and are having some problems with it. The problem most troublesome to me was the non-responsive or even frozen screen. When I made phone calls, I could not get the Keyboard and End Call "soft" buttons respond to touches - actually, all soft buttons on the screen froze. I could only end the call by pressing the red hard key. I need the keyboard to pop up to enter the PIN/code to access my voice mail.
As a matter of fact, the HD2 screen often times is very sluggish and even non-responsive when I browse web pages or a few pages deeper into some program pages (i.e., a few further on provided links). A recent example was when I installed a .cab file, and was asked where to install it: Device or Storage Card, I had to try more than 10 times to change it from Device to Storage Card!
Anyone has similar problem? Any suggestion will be much appreciated.
If you have BSB tweaks installed. Do a search. It's been talked about. But if not, then Might be a defective unit.
Yes I do have BsB Tweaks installed and per your suggestion I searched it and found "Screen Sensitivity" and "Phone Slide Cover" which I changed back and forth and they made no difference to my problem.
Again thanks to your suggestion, I did a few more searches deeper into other posts (I forgot there were many pages to search... and I tried using different combinations of key words) and I found the solution!
It was a post by bluenubian [OP] who suggested in another post to set "TAP time" on BsB tweak to OFF....well, indeed, "this helps another nooooob like me!" PROBLEM SOLVED!
Thanks to both of you!
