I've tried to do some searching on here about RyanZA's OCLF app. i recently updated to the official froyo update and seem to have problems with the lag fix when trying to install it. It says it fails but i still see an increase in quadrant, but not the 2100-2200 i was seeing with 2.1.
Anyone else having this issue? Any help is appreciated. thanks
BTW i do mean i can't find anything regarding the OFFICIAL froyo update and oclf
Stop using OCFL .. there is a better solution, Voodoo. You should be able to get KA6 and KA7 kernel that includes voodoo, just search the development section. Voodoo is much better and cleaner solution, even Nexus S using the same filesystem (ext4).
I dont know anything about voodoo. Im still pretty much a noob when it comes to rooting. I did oclf because ot was easy. How do I go about usimg voodoo?

The man knows what he's talking about. Drop OCLF in my opinion. Search the Android dev section for Scrizz's thread with kernels and modems and flash one with voodoo. Use 3 button recovery to get red recovery and simply go to advanced menu and enable. Sit back and relax while Linda does her thing. Give her about 10 minutes. BOOM!

I dont doubt he does, ill have to look into it, but I have no idea how to flash anything, if you know what thread could help me can you ink it? I did a search for voodoo and haven't really found much yet.

OCLF 2.0 works, but the OS doesn't "think" it works. The speeds are increased something terrible, but still nothing like the 2000+ scores from OCLF in 2.1. Voodoo is a very clean lagfix.
Go on over to the development section and look at most of the roms, you can download Voodoo.
Voodoo isn't a lagfix, it's a file system conversion. It just happens to get rid of lag because it's a better file system.

Isn't that the same as OCLF except that made a ext2 file system? What is a true lagfix then?

It's just splitting hairs at this point. "Lagfix" is a loose term thrown around just as "brick".
OCLF converts rfs to ext2. Whereas voodoo converts to ext4.

unless it's been changed, the oclf just creates an ext2 file in the data partition which was then used as a buffer for writing. voodoo converts the entire data and system partitions to ext4. so the oclf was a temp fix/workaround while voodoo is a solution because it gets rid of rfs, and now with voodoo enabled roms, you don't have to disable/reenable voodoo, you just flash the new rom with voodoo enabled.
I've tried using cwm to flash the voodoo modem/kernals but i can't seem to get in to work. i'm sure i'm doing something wrong. like i said i don't really know much about this stuff.
i open rom manager, go to install rom, go to external sd card, then the voodoouvka6 modemupdate.zip
i reboot to complete installation, then what should i do? if i go to reinstall packages it fails. and if i just reboot it doesn't seem to do anything. i tried to do ka7 before and didn't see anything change, now i'm trying ka6.

Okay... I'm on my computer now so I can do a little more for you.
Go here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870480
Since you are on the official, download the KA6 kernel that is .zip and flash like anything else through clockworkmod.
Next, you have to reboot into recovery. (Do not use rom manager. Power off the phone and hold volume up + volume down buttons and power on the phone.)
You should be in recovery now, but it will have red text and an additional selection at the bottom labeled voodooo.
Select voodoo and select enable voodoo. This will turn voodoo on the next reboot.
Reboot now and wait for Linda to tell you that the lagfix is enabled. It will take about 10 minutes. Be patient and don't touch the phone while she is working.
BOOM!
See my problem is I dont know how to flash. I downloaded rom manager and it installed cloclworkmod recovery. Is that the same thing I need?

Ohhh... okay, yeah. Open Rom manager and flash clockworkmod... select vibrant.
Download the kernel from the link in my last post. Place the .zip you downloaded on the root of internal memory (the 14gb one). Root meaning not in any folders.
Now open Rom manager again and reboot into recovery. It may ask you to reinstall packages, do so if prompted.
Once in clockworkmod recovery (should be a green menu), select "install zip from SD".
Select the .zip kernel you downloaded and it will ask you one more time are you sure. Do it.
BOOM!
Then follow steps from my last post for voodoo.

If you were rooted before the update, you aren't rooted anymore. I think people are using superoneclick now on the official update. I think, but I am not sure. Try that, then go back to the steps already posted. If I come across what people are using now I will post the link.
Edit... use this. It's superoneclick

I don't use OCLF and don' know what version your running it was more generalized. If you flash something its in a package and that package has to be signed. If it's a pretty trustworthy source then most signs point to bad download. Which usually doesn't happen on the same file multiple times unless the source is corrupt or unsigned in this case.
Then their are the other issues such as maybe your phone just doesn't like this file and won't install it. I've had a guy try multiple times to install my theme, even got it to install on his sons phone and regardless of my attempts to upload different ways it just wasn't meant to be.
My obvious advice would be to drop the OCLF attempt because its just an inflated quadrant score, and potentially corrupt files awaiting you. Most of the roms now use voodoo and theirs voodoo kernels floating around. Not to mention the ease of voodoo in these new roms it's reallly a no brainer. Nero comes with voodoo activated and you don't have to rename a file or do anything but go through the menu in cwm to turn it off or on. You can even flash between Axura and Nero now without disabling Voodoo. It's pretty much the new standard.
Ive already done that.

I believe if you download the lagfix from the market, you can uninstall it. It gives me an option to remove it.
Search for "lag fix" and you'll find it in the market.

This will only work for lagfix V1+ If I remember correctly. I had installed the one click alpha version via adb and wasn't able to uninstall using the OCLF app. I had to do a complete wipe to get rid of it. The unlagfixme didn't work for me. I installed the app to make life a lil more simple after my wipe.

Do a titanium back up of all of your apps, flash the vibrant stock firmware, or even the new leaked one found here:

Than use titanium to restore all your stuff, and you will have successfully removed it no matter the version you had used.

Any idea how long it is supposed to take? I tried to use that and after "allowing" the application from supeuser permissions, it just kinda froze for about 10 minutes, so I rebooted my phone and then i bricked and the phone stayed on a black screen after the samsung G boot screen
I want to preface this by saying I have spent 4 hours trying to recover my phone and I have tried all the things suggested in the treads, including what worked for me last time.
I installed a kernal for using the buttons backlighting for notifications which apparently works on the Fascinate. My phone never rebooted from that. I tried to install Clockwork and install an update.zip or an old restore file and it would not read off my SD properly/was not effective. I then tried using Odin to flash over the system, kernal, and recovery. Still no dice. I formatted my sd and tried to install clockwork again and everytime I try to access it through installing update.zip it says that signature verification failed and the installation is aborted and does not even reach clockwork.
I hope someone can help me. I have tried everything I can think of and have had zero luck.
PS: Currently my phone will show SAMSUNG but keep looping

No, I was running a deoxed .4 rom
Are you installing clockwork through Odin? I have had problems with getting clockwork to work if I installed it any other way. It should work through Odin tho - also was the kernel you flashed with the backlight notification the voodoo one or non-voodoo?

Also did you try wiping data? Even if you can't get into clockwork you can do it from the Samsung recovery. I would try that and then do all the Odin recovery stuff again and see if that helps - but if you flashed the voodoo kernel you will have to go thru the post on completely removing voodoo.

Figured as much... I read it worked and that is why I installed. Hopefully I can get a fix. Maybe I should do adb?
Can some one please tell me witch gps fix is the latest one and witch one in your opinion actually works. I see that a popular fix is the Dj05 radio fix and there is even a hardware fix out for the vibriant that bends the gps antenna contact. So witch one should I try first? witch actually works and witch are known not to work?
I searched and came up with a lot of different threads and I think we should consolidate all those threads and list all the fixes and make a poll asking witch fix worked better for the users. This is a very common problem and I am surprised there are no stickies threads been update regularly with the latest info. The biggest problem is that there are MANY threads about it and some are very old, not sure if there are better fixes now.
So please help me list and consolidate all those threads, I will update this post showing all your input. I also have 3 fascinates that all are a little different when it comes to gps and would love to try the fixes and post my results on all three.
Edit: I would also like to write the proper way to test your gps, I see some threads have this buried in between the gps fix steps and I would like to make it more obvious so if you know how to properly test the gps, let me know. I know there are some apps like gps test and status that show you lots of info, would be great to see a list results with a working gps and a faulty one.
thanks.

There's a new version of CWM in this link for the Froyo leak of Fascinate: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937499

Now when I go through ROM Manager to Reboot Into Recovery, it takes me to the stock recovery, but going to "Update.zip" makes a loading bar load about 1/4 of the bar, then it reboots, shows Samsung logo, and is back at stock recovery. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, any help? Is there any .TAR of the new CWM, so I can maybe use Odin to force it on? Thanks.
Get rid of the theme. That's probably the problem. And this should be posted under general or in the thread of whatever ROM you're using.

Posted this in another thread but this is how I did it.
Download the first file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942021 and rename it recovery-update.zip put it in the clockworkmod folder on sd card, replacing the old recovery-update.zip.
Download the following file and place it at the root of your sd card, make sure its named update.zip.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17566514/update.zip use it to get into cwm.
Then boot to recovery, (apply update if you get blue writing, choose apply sdcard:update.zip). Once in green cwm choose to "install zip from sd card,"
navigate to your clockworkmod folder then choose the recovery-update.zip file.
Lastly go back to the main options and choose "apply sdcard:update.zip." you should be good to go now!
CWM should be red for now on, and should say voodoo lagfix.
Enjoy! I hope that clears things up!

If you are trying to run a Froyo ROM, even without voodoo, then in this situation you will be using a RED CWM.
Specifically, the one that was posted earlier or can be found here:

Even though it is red, even though you don't want voodoo, this really is the correct cwm for Froyo at this time.

I let it sit there for about 15 mins.
and it was the Voodoo for both 2.4 and 2.6
My understanding is that you were suppose to disable the lagfix before flashing any new rom voodoo or not when coming from a voodoo rom

I never disable lagfix and it works everytime. My understanding is that you don't have to disable lagfix if you are flashing voodoo rom over voodoo. If you are reverting back to non-voodoo, then yes you have to disable the lagfix.
Sorry to hear that mine worked fine. My one question is with the battery stats wipe which is included in this rom. Should I do it through cwm or the old way with terminal emulator or is it automatically wiped? Tried to post in development section but I was not allowed.

What do you mean you chose the update.zip option? You should have chosen the zip from sdcard option, if you did choose the update.zip option that may be the problem. Someone with more experience could shed some light but you may need to flash the cwm again.

No, it is perfectly fine to flash a voodoo kernel over a voodoo kernel without disabling first.
Hello
Are you able to get into clockwork recovery? Do you have the cwr update.zip on your sdcard?
If not pull the card and load the recovery update.zip on it. Reflash. If it works then:
Then wipe data and cache. Then system, boot, data, datadb, and sd-ext. Then dalvik. Wipe data/cache once more and flash sc2.6.
If it doesnt work youll need to use that complete odin package and begin again.
Good luck

I did that too on my gf's phone. Completely stuck at Samsung logo.
I found an odin file to completely go back to DI01 unrooted, and another to go all the way to EB01 deodexed rooted superclean's rom. It was amazing.
I can't seem to find it right now, but I'll update this post if I do.
Odin fix all file:

Both are forum threads. The latter will give you options as well as to which rom you want installed, and how clean it is. Adrenalyn even threw in red clockwork. But it'll only take you as far as superclean v2. But at that point you should have a fully functional phone that you can try to flash another rom over.

Did I say kernal? Pretty sure I said rom... And all voodoo tutorials say, even if it works for you without doing so, that you should disable lagfix before flashing ANYTHING in recovery.

Disabling lagfix is the safer way because there is always a possibility that the new rom you are flashing was mislabeled and is not actually voodoo, or you may accidently choose the wrong zip to flash and flash non-voodoo. If you've disabled, this is a minor oops. If not, it could be major.

ever sense the red recovery that came with voodoo 5. You do not need to disable lagfix unless your flashing a non voodoo KERNEL.. So if your cwm is red disabling is not necessary unless the rom includes a non voodoo KERNEL..
Rocking dj05 and jt's voodoo 5

THANKS A LOT!! That worked!!!
You need to install the red clockworkmod and clear dalvich cache and do a full wipe. You probably have the wrong clockworkmod. Check the threads for the red one and reinstall the rom.
