to reinstall wm6.5, just start phone in bootloader (hold volume button down when turning phone on until you see the tri-colored screen) then flash a stock rom.
you can get an external battery charger for pretty cheap on ebay and use it to charge the battery outside of the phone. Or if you know someone who has a hd2, maybe they will let you use their battery so can flash wm6.5.

what is a stock rom? and yep, thats a way (to lay a battery) if my goes empty (for what reason ever) and with the external charger i could use wm7 also if i forget to recharge.. nice idea. thank you. now i only need to now what a stock rom is and where to get from?maybe u have a link, and btw with the bootloader. i have no the one i used to install wm7, how do i use him (the loader) then?
btw, thank you for ur support, <3 you

You can find a stock rom HERE. You already have bootloader installed.
(stock means it is one that comes from your carrier like when you bought the phone new)
1. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your computer
2. REMOVE SIM and microSD CARDS!! (this is a precautionary measure and is not compulsory)
3. Hold the volume down button and press power on the phone to enter bootloader. (tri-colored screen)
4. Connect your usb cable and make sure you see "USB" in the lower portion of your phone display
5.Run the CustomRUU.exe file as administrator
6. Follow onscreen instructions to set up your New Rom
7. Once phone has gone through the customisation procedure then replace Sim and microSD Cards
8. Set up phone as required and job done.

thank you for this detailed awsner but i still have a question
step 6: does the programm ask for a rom file or how does it works? because when i installed customRuu for wm7 he dont asked me for any kind of rom

it will not ask for it. just run the .exe file and follow the steps. it is very similar to the way you flashed WP7

What have you tried? Have you pulled your USB out of Phone and PC?
Have you soft reset your phone?
Put a bit more detail and we can help
ok so first i used the Unsigned_HardSPL_for_Blackstone_OliNex with ActiveSync and that worked fine. Then I moved the BLACIMG.nbh into the BlackstoneRUUWrapper to install the new ROM, and that worked fine too, 100%. Then I removed the USB cable and restarted the device. Now I am noticing that the device is working properly for maybe 10 secs, but then it freezez, and I have to resett it

Usually after a flash its recommended to Hard reset atleast 2 times did you do that?
Did you follow crackwhores instructions completely?
When I have flashed I wait till the finish screen on pc shows the phone should shut down and restart itself thats when i disconnect USB
when phone shows welcome screen i pull battery out and hard reset
oh so when everything is finished, and there is the FINISH screen on the PC, you should take the battery out and hard reset! Did not do this. New to all this. Managed to connect my device again by USB, and putting Miri's WM 6.5. Will hard reset after that

No Problem
I have been help all through this site
its great bunch of people
Hi Ozmoran
I still have problems with my device, first it works for a number of minutes, then freezes, then after around 5 minutes comes back to normal. And secondly, cannot get my reception to work, ie cannot receive calls and messages at the moment. Its asking me, "Do you want to turn the phone on?" and when i click on yes, nothing happens.
This is the exact procedure I am following:-
1) Unsigned_HardSPL_for_Blackstone_OliNex. After 100%, I click on Finish on the PC, and remove USB cable. I remove the battery off and on again and I hard reset (from the small button on the back right?)
2) I do the same procedure for BLACIMG.nbh and that works fine too, 100% finished.
After this, first I notice that the colours are not vivid colours, but like an old PC colours, so i turn off and on the device (from the button at the top). Then after loading, its asking me to click on the "+" to align the screen, which I do, follow the next screen, and the ROM is working.
However as I said, sometimes its unresponsive, and cannot get reception from my mobile provider.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks a lot for your help, I am a complete newbie
ok found this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
will follow it this eve and see what happens
Reason you are experiencing this discolourization and not reception/signal is due to you most likely not following flashing procedure properly and possibly using wrong HSPL before flashing rom.
You need to use HSPL 1.56 to flash a 1.56+ based rom. Any previous version you need to use 1.14 HSPL.
I notice you have already found cRaCKwHoRe's guide. If you follow it, you will be fine. If you get stuck, just post a query inhis thread and someone will help you!!
great
i downloaded everything from that post and will do it this evening since the phone is at home.
Hopefully I can use my phone again very soon
If you also read this section in the wiki, it refers to your greenish discolourization as well and offers assistance. Though if you follow cRaCKwHoRe's guide you'll be fine
thanks guys
any preference on any particular ROMS that are popular?
I was going to try Miri's WM6.5

Good rom to start with if you want wm6.5, would also try EnergyROM HD by NRGZ28. Both excellent roms. As for wm6.1, IMHO Duttys is the best.
For you, I would try each and make your own opinion
Thanks
Will try Miri than and see how it goes
Last question (hopefully), once I will install the Hard SPL, there is no need to install it again if I want to flash the ROM again right? Just install the ROM i want
Thanks a lot for all your help!

Yes, once you install HSPL its permanent and you have no need to re-install it. You can restore default SPL at a later stage if you want.
USPL is temporary and needs to be re-used before every flash to new radio or rom
If I were you, I'd read up on both USPL & HSPL in the wiki for a better understanding before you jump in head first!!
yeah i will read more about it, just wanted to experiment.
Thanks for all your help!
Hey guys
managed to do it! Flashed the ROM and working perfectly now!
Thanks a lot for your help and time

Fastest ever brick ? Half a day ?

Hi everyone Right, so I have a big problem... I've been reading up on flashing, choosing what ROM to use etc for the whole day. As I have a lot of work to do tomorrow I decided to have a go before I hit the bed - how hard can it be anyway ? Should have slept on it and have a fresh start tomorrow...
The sad chain of events:
1. hspl
2. Touch-IT Black Leo HD2 - v4.0
3. it booted into the ROM for a few times but as there was no sim inside i had to turn it off again to perform a hard reset
4. now it just sits in the 1st white screen with the HTC logo
Please don't tell me that forgetting 1st radio 2nd ROM order of things has made me an expensive paperweight ? If yes then it's a really sad lesson on not to do this stuff when ur tired....
Thanks in advance for any help !
g0nz
Yes, radio not being done first Is the issue but it's easily fixed...
Turn off the phone, hold down the Vol Down button and turn it back on and wait for the tri-colour bootloader screen to pop up. It should say 'Serial' at the bottom. Then plug into your PC and it should change to 'USB' and ActiveSync/WMDC should show connected.
Down load the radio required for the ROM and use CustomRRU to flash the radio and reboot. It should now load up
or else, if EddyOS's solution doesn't work and the problem is worse than that, flash a stock rom from the memory card:
- dl a stock rom,
- exctract the files from the.exe with winrar or anything,
- rename the largest one (.nbh) as LEOIMG.nbh,
- copy it to the root of you micro-sd card (obviously thanks to another card reader...),
- then (with the card back in the hd2) restart your phone in bootloader mode (as explained by EddyOS)
- it will start flashing the phone, just follow the instructions
- when it's done, soft reset.
your phone will be back as new, you can start over:
- hspl
- radio
- rom
Don't flash via SD card, you're more likely to brick your phone - and NEVER flash a full ROM using the SD card method as, if a few have found out, you flash the shipped 2.x ROM you're stuck on SPL2...
Thanks guys for your quick responses !
The solution from EddyOS worked like a charm, I'm a happy camper again
I'll be A LOT more careful in the future and defo not going to do this dead tired again
QAPC.
Cheers,
g0nz
Good to hear!
Just make sure you read the relevent posts fully - I was under the impressions that one ROM I used to use included the radio it needed. It does but you still need the radio on your device in the first place!
Glad you're sorted now though

E;

I think I might've "bricked" my phone.

I'm not sure if this is what usually happens because I am a noob but, my phone has been on the "stick together" screen for a while, afte rinstalling the ROM is it going into the customization stage or something? Or is it bricked?
I have a 1024 Leo, if that helps.
Okay so please don't hate me for this, but I installed the wrong ROM onto my phone, I just realized. Can I just install another rom right over it? Or what do I do from here? I can get into the boot screen.

The thing is, it doesn't turn on past that screen so therefore no ActiveSync connection is available. And I'm not sure how to do it via SD card.

Turn phone off. Press and hold VolDown. Tap the Power Button while still holding VolDown, hold, hold, hold --> BootloaderScreen appears --> Connect USB --> Wait for "USB" shown on Screen instead of "Serial" --> Flash
should I flash the stock ROM just to be safe? or can I go ahead and flash this ROM? I'm 100% this time that it is the correct ROM.

You have several options:
1. Stock ROM --> Custom ROM = Quite clean method
2. Custom ROM = Might not be a clean flash (especially because u had a bad one last time)
3. Use Task29 (cleans the whole ROMMemory) --> Custom ROM = Cleanest method
Dont forget to use a proper Radio for your US-Version and the CustomROM you are using and flash it before you install the entire ROM

Make sure you have HSPL (i guess you have installed it as you already flashed a CustomROM)
0. Unpack the zip
1. Go into Bootloader (see some posts above)
2. Connect your Leo to PC
3. Start Task29.exe
4. Follow instructions
5. After finish you Leo will stay on Starting screen
6. Disconnect from PC
7. Remove Battery and insert it back again
8. Again go into Bootloader and connect to PC
9. Flash Radio (After that is finished youll have to take out the Batt again as there is still no ROM to boot )
10. Flash ROM
11. Enjoy an absolutely cleanly flashed HD2
Its really that easy

yeah no problem, but do a little reading first cause the steps i give need to make sense to you as well, but this should really be easy and care free. lol
and is your hd2 the tmobile version or EU version, you need to know that, real important when it comes to roms.
what you need to download is as follows, and you can find it in the hd2 android forums:
hspl 4 to unlock phone, 2.15.50 radio, magdlr 1.13, and cwm recovery and the rom you want to run.
1. put your phone in bootloader mode ( while phone is powered down hold volume down and power button) and it will take you to a tri colour screen.
2.with your phone plugged in, it will look and search for the htc drivers and your phone will say usb on the bottom, and when it says that, run the HSPL.exe file you downloaded. this will hack your phone.
3. as soon as your phone reboots hold the volume down and power button to put it back in the tri colour screen. now install the 2.15. radio you downloaded by running the custom ruu, and this will install it for you.
4. now once again, once it completes put your phone into tri coulour screen again, and run magdlr. This will install magdlr for you as well, the bootloader that will replace the original. this is whats going to get you into nand android, or wp7 etc.
5. once thats done phone will reboot, and now it will reboot into magdlr. from here on, you will have to put your phone into usb flasher mode. the phone will install other usb drivers once you do that.
6. once thats done, while on usb flasher mode, install the recovery you downloaded, and using the dft installer, will install the recovery. follow the instructions ins the recovery flasher.
7. when thats down, in magdlr go into ad recovery, and this will put you into the Android recovery.
8. using your volume rocker, go down to mounts/storage, and mount usb/storage, and transfer your rom over to ur sd card.
9. unmount and go into "install zip from sd card." and choose the rom you just transferred. this will take a few minutes, just let it sit till it finishes.
10. once complete go into reboot phone, and watch the magic happen.
Notes: on first boot, usually it will take a lil longer since its running alot of stuff in the background just sit tight and be paitent.
Make sure you download the rom that fits your phone ( tmobile version, or EU)
In the future when you get better and have a little knowledge, using the hd2toolkit is like god, makes alot of things easier with system partions etc...
and like i said please read a little so you can grasp a little knowledge before trying. but you shouldnt really have a problem. Good luck and let me know what else i can do to help and enjoy your new phone!

Nobody will help you more than tecle2595 did above (that was a long and correct answer to your question)
Everything you need to install android without bricking your phone is explained multiple times in details in this forum, and as others said, you even have the luxury to watch youtube videos.
All people here were noobs the first time they joined XDA, and most of us spent hours to decypher the help tutorials. I know it's very hard but you absolutely need to understand all of it if you want to move to android custom roms... otherwhise you'll keep on asking questions on the forum and you'll get stuck at a certain point.
This thread is a good start
Keep on reading the tutorials until you get them, than follow exactly the procedures, and it's guaranteed that you won't brick your phone !

You will never brick your phone by installing software from the Android market, so don't worry about that. In fact, you can't brick an EU HD2 at all as far as I know.
Some things I couldn't live without are:
SetCPU - allows you to control the speed of your CPU whilst performing different tasks.
Titanium Backup - as the name suggests, is a backup tool. Can't count how many times I've used it and my backups have saved my ass.
Juice Defender - Others say it isn't useful, I personally find it helps
Current Widget - Gives you your battery drain, really helps me tell when something's wrong and an app is draining the battery too much
3G watchdog - Measures your 3G usage and warns you if you get near your limit
(For AOSP/CM7) GO Launcher - IMO the best launcher in the market
Dolphin Browser - IMO the best browser in the market
(For AOSP/CM7) ExDialer + Contacts - Stock CM7 dialer isn't as good as this one
Can't think of any more that I really need, so I hope this helps you

[Q] Should i buy this phone?

Hello, I'm new here and I'm about to buy a HD 2.
I could get one for 100€ but the seller says, that it hangs on htc logo but it is possible to get into the bootloader.
Is there a risk, that it's broken or something similar? Should i ask him something to make sure, if it's broken or not?
Thanks.
There is always a risk with buying second hand goods, the chances are the phone has already been toyed with and flashed to a point where either the wrong spl or hspl was installed for a specific ROM or maybe it they tried to install Android but got it wrong etc, Personally if you have time on your hands to try and rectify it then go for it, But unless you know what you are doing then I wouldn't bother with it.
Thanks, should i ask him, which H/SPL Version is installed?
The seller says, that he got the hd2 from a friend, who tried to flash a rom but it failed and they had no effort to "repair" it.
So do you mean, that there is finally a chance, that the device or/and the NAND is broken?
A friend of my bought a HTC HD2 recently and got flashed Android onto it. The only problem he has is that with Android he gets quite poor batt life. So if you are a heavy user, keep this in mind
Thanks.
The only question is, if the HD2 is broken.
I hoped, that you guys could except that.
Stuck on HTC logo is for example when you install sense rom and choose one of two options about apps on SD. They have done something bad during the install, or bad HSPL. The best way is to download from this forum Windows Mobile rom (no matter which, but best should be stock), flash it in bootloader (PWR+Vol-) via SD card. Then everything is default. And you can start flashing android step by step. It is not easy to break that dev, trust me I have it for 2 months, and it is still alive For a smartphone it is long for me I am using Dorimanx rom, and when you don't surf a lot of web, then it is OK for 2 days (battery life). When you use it much, then about 1 day (phone still looks for network, under ground).
Okay these are good news.
But don't you think, that a Tas29 would be better as first?
Oh and do you think, that selling my HTC Blackstone/Touch HD for the HD2 is a good deal?
I think that the system specifications of the Touch HD are not good enough to get sometime a good anroid nand rom. I tried the only nand build yet and I'm not very convinced.
EDIT:I asked the seller, what is displayed on the bootloader screen to get known of the H/SPL version (, right?).
I hopo to get a answer from him very soon.

I have never done Task29 and I have fast and stable rom. I even don't know what is this Just flash stock rom via SD in bootloader. Then during android install and all these HSPLs you can do Task29, but it's not necessary I think.

OK, but that is not important if you will flash windows onto it. It should be 2.08 HSPL for android, on other it doesn't work.
Okay thank you.
So can I finally buy it without risks?
How about prepare a SD card with leoimg.nbh first, then test it immediately when dealing? (If you are not buying it on ebay, i mean you go out and meet the seller, instead of shipping the product to your home)
My guess is it's foobarbed, if easily recovered then it would be done & up & running.
Is it EU or TMOUS version ? It is a big risk but as mentioned above if can physically meet & test device a little could reduce risk.
If a blind sale via eBay forget it unless you can afford the gamble or have use for parts ...
Buying used HD2s listed as fully working is risky enough & anything listed like this is normally scrap hoping for a gambling punter ! ...
Good idea! He is 25 kilometer (15 miles) away from me and it is cash only.
I hope, that he allows me to flash.
A official winmo rom would be the best, right?
How should i proceed? Flashing the rom and then testing if it works? or less?
Where can I get one, which will work with SPL and/or HSPL?
Thanks.
EDIT: @ Mister B: What does foobarbed mean? I'm not that good in english. The HD2 is EU and as above it is cash only so i hope that I can test it.
I don't know what does it mean too. Flash rom (Any WM6.5) but best would be stock, and boot it When it boots ok, then all right. But check Wi-Fi and these stuff if you want Stock roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623283
Check if the touch is ok, and battery if is original etc.
Prepare a SDCard with a suitable rom version(ask for the seller which region of that HD2, and download the corresponding rom)
rename the exe to .zip
open the zip file, extract RUU_signed.nbh to the root of your SDCard
rename RUU_signed.nbh to leoimg.nbh
When you want to test the phone, insert the sd card, boot into the bootloader, do:
Hold VOL-, press the power button(hold both button)
Now, HD2 should powered up, it should tell you to:
"Press power button to start update image"
Press the power button, then start update
When the update is completed(with NO ERROR), restart the phone and see if the phone turned back to Windows Mobile 6.5 and all function are working.

Thank you. I downloaded the rom for my country and then i extracted ruu_signed.nbh from the .exe file.
Now i need to rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and copy it over to my micro sd card?
Is this right?
EDIT: Thanks hopkinskong. You were faster
Yes, that's right
Tips from me:
1. SD muntn't be partitioned, and must be foramted before copying leoimg.nbh
2. Watch out with time you hold these two buttons, because Vol- cancells update, so holding both, it will choose cancell, and it won't update. So just after the bootloader appears, immediately unpress the buttons.
Yes, thank you
I think, that i know that steps from my touch hd, so it shouldn't be a problem
If it has HSPL installed I would of first tried flashing a custom ROM such as NRGs WM6.5.x builds.
By flashing from SD and using original Rom you will overwrite HSPL & if then ROM is wrong vendor version you will have hassle.
Try keeping HSPL if it has it as can make recovery options less difficult.
"Foobarbed" is slang english, means broken, my bad & your english is very good ...

I didn't know that. Thanks. It will be helpful for me in the future. But if he know that it is EU version, then... And T-Mobile looks a bit different. Bu tif you say it is better, then I won't discuss.

But what, if SPL is installed? If so, I wont be able to install the custom rom and I can't select between two roms in the bootloader, right?
Hmm..maybe I'll find an old sdcard.
