KA7 battery... AWESOME - Vibrant General

I have had my phone unplugged since about 9 AM with wifi on all day. Surfing the web normally, texting and one phone call and at 5:24 right now, still 72% left. Statistically the modem doesnt have the fastest speeds as ive seen(3.5 down 1 up) But unless your downloading hd movies or something all day it is perfect for everyday usage. More than fast enough.
Nero v5, ka7 modem flashed over with voodoo disabled.

Can you post on how you have nero v5 running ka7?
Also can you flash ka7 kernal too?

KA7 sure does sound lovely. Gonna have to try this

If the links dont work in the quote then search for vibrant modems cwm and odin flashable. And download the ka7 modem. I have yet to find the ka7 kernel though. But yes if you want perfect gps with fast data and above average battery then get it

Ka7 with Voodoo and cpu tuner has made my battery life AWESOME, better than yours ;]

How long does it last? Oh yea just download cpu tuner. What setting do you use?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

With constant 3g use mine drops kind of fast. I can already tell that the cpu tuner is helping
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

I noticed that the battery was lasting longer almost immediately. It usually would drop to 90% almost before I left the house in the morning but this morning it was still on 100%. I thought my battery indicator was not working.
Here I am almost a whole day (11 hours) with moderately heavy use playing online and reinstalling applications that I lost because I had to wipe my phone during the update and I still have 52%! Awesome.

Nero v5 w/voodoo and ka7

Every tine I wake up my phone it says 'cpu tuner has been granted super user permissions.'

It lasts a super long time on edge. I rolled back off of 3G when I realized I was down to 2% and was on the road. It took 45 minutes for it to drop to 1%. I'm getting ready to test it over night with supercurio's modded KA7 Kernel. Should be interesting to see what SystemPanel says in the morning.

Can you odin just the modem without the whole image?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

This is great.

For those curious, here's my battery life on Nero 5 running the KA7 modem w/ Supercurio's KA7+Voodoo Kernel. As you can see, I've already frozen pretty much every app and process that I know of that uses crazy CPU cycles (like Media Hub, DRM Processes, WiFi Calling, Score Mobile (because of the widget), Beautiful Widgets, and some other stuff. I also had all unnecessary stuff off like BT, WiFi and 3G rolled back to edge. My 3G signal is a LOT stronger as it was on any other modem so I know it uses some crazy battery life. I also reset my battery stats the other day and make use of the "CurrentWidget" although I turned it off when I let the battery drain.
I have one of the first Vibrant builds and there's no telling how many times I've bump charged my battery but all in all, I think these results are great. In loss in battery is worth it to have the speed and smoothness. Also, I don't know what Supercurio did, but a lot of the skipping I'd get when playing MP3's is gone. It's not perfect, but much, much better so someone played with some clocking for sure.

I had the same question but ended up just using the CWM Flash method. I downloaded the file, copied it to my sdcard, went to recovery and flashed it.
Works fine.

An even better modem is kb1. It has been 23 hours and I am still at 27%. Moderate use. Battery drains 2% in 8 hours of standby.

Battery life queries

Could anyone help me. I'm finding my bettery life is very short, I fully charged my phone and went straight to the market to update some apps via 3g and within 2 minutes my battery was down to 96%. I turned the phone off after that to go to bed and turned it on when I got up and it was on 91%. I am very new to flashing ROMs and flashed darky's 9.5 about 2 weeks ago. Il list my baseband and kernel below. I don't think out should run down that fast.
Firmware: 2.2.1
Baseband: I9000XXJVE
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 hardcorespeedmod k13d 500hz
Build: Darky's v9.5XWJS8

I find my battery drains badly when on Wi-FI. Now im on Ficeto JVH gingerbread. Very good standby time with wifi and 3g switched off.
I'm on JVH since a few days, and the Battery life is awesome! Before my battery was dead after max. 14h, more often after about 12h.
Now my phone is already running 29hours and still have 39% battery
phone usage as usual, when at home connected to wifi, else manually set to 2g, if needed switching to 3g. k9-Mail set to Imap-Idle, syncing only google-calendar/ contacts and facebook/twitter widget from LauncherPro Plus (every hour or if needed manually)
Il keep using it as normal for the next couple of days and see if it improves.
If it doesn't, how do I change my modem to a JVH?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Here`s some SS of my Jvh battery experience.
Right now, only used the phone to send 3 sms, 26h have passed and 93% of battery left.
Can I get a JVH modem without changing anything else then?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
@rhadoo04
What rom/kernel do you have?
What programs for battery usage reduction?
What setup in general
Stock JVH Rom, stock kernel, no useless programs for battery reduction, everything stock, except for crt screen off animation, battery mod and root. HSDPA was on for about 2h while I played drag racing online.
My record was 7d and a few hours , with 2.2.1, using the phone only to talk. My average battery life is 3 days.

Modem help please!? Need big help

What is the difference between modems? I heard it affects battery and data but how? I never know which one to choose, and how to change. I need one with good battery, data performance is optional BC I am almost always on wifi. Also, is there an app like sgs kernal flasher to change it? Thanks so much.

Here are the modems flashable through CWM just like a ROM. Each modem works better in different areas so you'd have to try out a few to make sure which one works best for you.
what the best modem in terms of battery life for Trigger 3.2?
As per my experience and what I've heard, kb5 is good in terms of battery life and signal strength.

bamboozle discussion thread 2

[redacted] What are everyone's thoughts? So far for me, i feel it's i3 on steroids, and I feel pretty good about it. GPS didn't work at all for me on i3, and works well enough on bamboozle. I have done three drives successfully and one that gps failed after a few minutes.
Gives me much more hope for our gingerbread future.
Also... just now i experienced a new bug. Screen turned off while i had keyboard open and the keyboard backlight wouldnt turn back on till i closed it and reopened the slider. Never had that on any other rom.
Edit: don't post links to the rom... this thread needs to stay open. [redacted] i love reasonable discussion [redacted]

I had the same problem with i3. Haven't had it happen with bamboozle so far. I have had one or two lockups but I am pretty sure they are overclocking related with tegrak (tried to do 1.2 ghz with the default 1.275v, probably need 1.3v on my phone to be stable, and I'm not gonna pay for tegrak when hopefully source and new kernels are around the corner)

use Titanium Backup.
And this ROM is pretty good from what I've been using so far. After the modem settled in a little, 3G is somewhat about the same as EC05, where it was **** when it first got Odin'ed. Hopefully, it'll be updated to whatever is good about EG22.

This is one of the best roms I have ever used. Every thing is super functional and also very smoot. Btw I fashed it with stock ec05 and haven't chaned my modem yet. Usually ,,though, govod roms are too good to be true and I randomly get tons of fc's on the third or fourth day. Well see what happens though. I just wish a rom would last me on outings. I often don't feel comfortable leaving the house without stock.

anyone has a cwm flashable ec05, ef02, ef10 modems?
i don't have any problems untill i overclock more then 1.1ghz and 1.152may last a couple hour the reboots on me. all and all this is a great rom the fact that the voice mail doesn't work isn't a big deal. Bamboozled 1.1 seem to fix that but i not ready to flash just yet to me its not broken so i'm not going to fix it i'll wait for a kernel that lets me use SetCpu.

Flashed last night, and everything works good so far. One strange thing though. Plugged it in in over night so I could wipe battery stats this morning to calibrate. When I got up, it said battery full, blue light was on, icon read 100%, but a soon as I unplugged it, it dropped to 83%.

Personal choice. EC05 is still molst people's choice. EE03 is another popular choice. I have tried them all and found the best speeds on EE03 and EH17. You have to try them for yourself and test for your unique phone and area.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I've found that EH17 has worked best for me; indoors 8/8 lock and GPS 2.6m accuracy. I can even connect to 4G; which I haven't been able to do since EB13 modem and finally cell strength has improved by a bar.
As with anything .. YMMV
I am using EG22 currently, the only problem is with the cell strength indicator. I am thinking about trying EH17.

It definitely has an effect on your 4g. Try flashing a modem in odin, and pull the cable. Thatll screw up ur baseband (modem). WiFi will work, 4g won't (or a 3g or SMS or calls). WiFi is a module in the rom (or kernel) if I remember right.

Well, when people run Speedtest and post results I feel its necessary to run it at least 15 or 20 times and average it out. I am still using EC05 modem and I average 5-6Mbps download speeds but I get bursts on some runs of 8+Mbps. I know that I personally haven't seen any marked improvement in average speed or signal strength myself. I like EC05 and EE03 the best because GPS works the best for me on those

Check your 4g modem version in wimax info in the wimax dm screen. It doesn't always match nor is it upgraded with every modem upgrade.
Back on DK28, yep, no joke.
Went from ec05 to eh17. Noticeable increase in speeds and signal for me....used to get max 300k downloads in speedtest...now I can get max a meg or so. Haven't tested it all over but it seems faster all around.
Gps does seem a little....slower maybe? I can still get good locks on 7 or more and it is usually very quick....but sometimes it seems to take a little longer then it used to on ec05. Just my opinion.
