I am currently on iced glacier 1.1.4 and I am trying to upgrade to 1.1.6. However, whenever I install the zip and boot up my phone, the boot screen keeps restarting over and over, leaving me in a boot loop forcing me to flash 1.1.4 again. Is there any way to fix this?

Did you miss my reply in the IG thread, or the PM copy I sent you?
Just do a full wipe, my friend, install 1.1.6, and restore your apps and data from Titanium Backup or an equivalent backup/restore tool.
Yeaa man i got it, thanks =D

Alright. Not new to rooting/flashing, all that jazz. I'm having an issue with my X boot looping, but I do a battery pull and it's fine.
I've actually sbf'ed (sp? lol) my phone and everything again to avoid this, thinking it was an issue with my process. Still getting booty loops.
So, I sbf'ed from froyo 2.2/fly x/tranquilty.
Here is what I've done, exact process.
-SBF'ed to stock 2.1
-Boot loop, pulled battery, rebooted into recovery, factory reset/clear cache (i know this one was necessary)
-Back to stock 2.1
-Used Easy Root method to root.
-moved SU from system/bin to system/xbin (to keep root before froyo update)
-downloaded Rom Manager from market, flashed CWR
-used Koush's bootloader apk
-downloaded 2.2 froyo from Rom Manager
-installed 2.2 froyo, booted back up.
First thing I did was download rom manager, backup my rom before flashing Fly X/Tranquility, Rom Manger rebooted me, threw me in a boot loop. Battery pulled, booted fine.
Only thing I can think of is I flashed CWR before using the bootloader apk, but not sure if that would even affect anything? Maybe clear cache partition in CWR might help something?
Any ideas? Thanks for your help in advance.
Try always using the "boot strap recovery" before rebooting from rom manager. See if that helps.

so, use the bootstrap.apk everytime before I need to reboot into recovery?
Kinda redundant.
Do you use this method?
Thanks for the response btw.
when u sbf, ur suppose to factory reset/clear cache before booting up to avoid that bootloop.
and to avoid bootloop from happing with a new rom, your suppose to bootstrap ive been reading...
Yep, if you reboot or flash I always do the bootstrap, read alot of people having to do it. First thing I do before I try to backup or restore.

cool, thanks for the responses guys.
i'll just keep boot strapping for the time being.
cant wait til we crack that sob.

I did this same thing too.... We gotta use bootstrap.
Please pardon my ignorance but what is bootstrap?
Droidx bootstrapper, its in the market. You have to use it to get into clockwork recovery since we still have a locked bootloader.

ok, i just rooted my phone today and im trying to install this rom but when i select reboot into recovery it only appears a picture of a phone and a red warning sign i guess... if you know whats going on, just let me know ok.. thanks for your time..
You need to flash a custom recovery image. Your looking at the stock recovery with the red triangle. The easiest way to do this would be using rom manager

Download ROM Manager from the market and flash ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.2.4

After I updated clockwork to 5.0 I can no longer boot in to the recovery backup my system or install roms it only boots to stock recovery with white back ground

have you tried reflashing it through ROM manager?
if that doesn't work, flash it manually using adb.
Turn off fast boot? Reinstall the recovery?

Use the file in this thread to reflash the recovery. Rom manager doesn't truly flash the recovery but this will.

Did u install booting to recovery first not thru cwm app??? You cant do it that way u have to boot to recovery and flash it that way.

It sounds like you may also have a bad download. Awesome is right though... You need to manually flash roms from inside recovery or sometimes it doesn't work right.

It worked, Thanks
HTC Glacier is rooted running on stock 2.2.1 and unlocked the bootloader and flashed eng bootloader and s off and running TWRP recovery but everytime that i try to flash a rom TWRP verifys the flash and i hit reboot then im just stuck at boot loop for the rom then i try to flash the nandroid backup that i made before that and it will flash but ill just get bootloop so i have to flash the PD15IMG.zip and thats the only thing that I can flash

Do you wipe data/cache and do a factory reset before flashing new rom? For me, it get stuck at boot screen if I flash a new rom without wiping.
Wiping data and factory reset is so important. When I tried to flash my first ROM it also got stuck. Try using 4ext instead of twrp.

There are several more partitions than the ones you listed. Try a different recovery. If that doesnt work, you might return to stock Froyo and try rooting again the right way. I think the problem stems from the method you used to get get the engineering bootloader installed. It will always show S-Off, regardless of the state of the flag. It's possible that because you started off by going through HTC Dev that something is off. In fact, as a test, try flashing your boot.img separately through fastboot and see if it boots.
I tried that and it didn't work even when I relocked the boot loader from the HTC dev site and switched the eng boot.IMG to an updated one and got s off with gfree it boot froyo but would boot any ROM that I flashed with cwm and twrp still yet to try 4ext can't find the file for glacier specifically

Try 4EXT, it it may fix the problem. Heres a link to the APK. It will install the recovery itself after you install the apk, open it, and click install or whatever it is.
Link for the apk is here --->http://www.4ext.net/get.php?apk
Or you could get it from the google store.

I think he means that he requires the .img because he cannot boot into the OS to run the .apk on his phone.
If it is inappropriate to post a link to this file, I apologize in advance. It is FREE and I take no credit for creating any part of EXT4 Recovery.
