Do you wipe data/cache and do a factory reset before flashing new rom? For me, it get stuck at boot screen if I flash a new rom without wiping.

Wiping data and factory reset is so important. When I tried to flash my first ROM it also got stuck. Try using 4ext instead of twrp.

I tried that and still got stuck
I even wiped system and this his coming from stock

There are several more partitions than the ones you listed. Try a different recovery. If that doesnt work, you might return to stock Froyo and try rooting again the right way. I think the problem stems from the method you used to get get the engineering bootloader installed. It will always show S-Off, regardless of the state of the flag. It's possible that because you started off by going through HTC Dev that something is off. In fact, as a test, try flashing your boot.img separately through fastboot and see if it boots.

I tried that and it didn't work even when I relocked the boot loader from the HTC dev site and switched the eng boot.IMG to an updated one and got s off with gfree it boot froyo but would boot any ROM that I flashed with cwm and twrp still yet to try 4ext can't find the file for glacier specifically

Try 4EXT, it it may fix the problem. Heres a link to the APK. It will install the recovery itself after you install the apk, open it, and click install or whatever it is.
Link for the apk is here --->http://www.4ext.net/get.php?apk
Or you could get it from the google store.

I think he means that he requires the .img because he cannot boot into the OS to run the .apk on his phone.
If it is inappropriate to post a link to this file, I apologize in advance. It is FREE and I take no credit for creating any part of EXT4 Recovery.

I chose the .zip and clicked wipe data and cache. It reboots and goes to stock recovery. It won't boot into Clockwork I tried many different root methods but nothing works. rom manager is not supported by the stock kernel- to use clockwork you need to use the one click on the dev forum
Can you use the Z4 method?

Happened to me too. Once you install Clockwork Recovery with Rom manager, turn off phone, then turn it on but hold the vol down and camera buttons until the samsung.com screen. Then viola Clockwork recovery.
Basically I got both recoveries on here after using the one click method. All apps that reboot into recovery goto stock which I do need a fix for.

Can't Boot Into CWM from RM

Can anyone hep?
I have tried many times to boot into recovery from RM to now avail. Cannot flash a rom or theme either...
I tried flashing CWM for another phone, then reflashing Fascinate but that didn't work either.
Thoughts? Help?
I can manually boot into CWM.
Did you flash the CWM enabling patch through Odin?
Here is the link from the two submitted guides on root CWM, etc. in development:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788099
You must run this patch before rom manager will install its custom recovery.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I'd guess flashing the wrong phone is what messed you up but if you can get into CWM recovery manually can't you flash roms/themes from there, or is that not working too? If it is working, then you don't really need be able to do it from Rom Manager.

sure did... going to try uninstalling RM, RE-flashing the Odin patch, then RE-installing RM.

I had originally flashed the Fascinate, then by suggestion, flashed another phone and then the fascinate again... no luck.
I dont MIND booting into CWM manually, but so much easier to click and go, you know... laziness
You need to be rooted for ROM Manager to reboot the phone at all let alone into recovery. So just flashing CWM patch with Odin and then trying to have ROM Manager reboot the phone without root access isn't going to work.

CWM Problems

UPDATE: To fix 3.0.2.4 from not formatting /system
Open rom manager and select settings, and check erase recovery. hit menu again and select clear cache, then flash 3.0.2.4 again.
now if your in recovery and you cant boot back up to use rom manager, use the file below. It will allow you to restore your backup then once booted back up use the method above to fix 3.0.2.4.
The reason im leaving custom over 3.0.2.4 is bc i know fastboot flash with this one will allow you to restore without wiping recovery or clear cache or anything else.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/b8ejhqbf3tgnsoe/recovery.img - this is CMW 3.0.1.4 just altered for installing zips. linking for people needing a recover img to boot up
To install:
1. If in recovery, open ur terminal on ur pc and type adb reboot boatloader
2. Once in bootloader it will load fast boot and say fastboot usb in red
3. cd to the folder with fastboot.exe and also place recover.img in that folder
4. then enter fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
5. adb reboot recovery
6. restore your backup and boot up
RafficaX said:
Little FYI for all, cwm recovery wont format system on a restore. made a backup, tried a flash and went to restore and it fails formatting system.
So be careful with flashing and all bc yo may not be able to restore currently with cwm.
UPDATE: format system in menu also fails! be careful bc you pretty much cant restore or flash atm!

I ran into the same problem. I tried to do a restore and got stuck. I used an sd card reader and put the 3rd file from the root thread PG05IMG.zip on the root of my sd card. I then put the card back in. Rebooted into recovery holding the volume down and the power button. It reflashed the file automatically and I followed the steps from 7 on to regain root. Worked for me, but now I have to start over. Hopefully they will get CWM working again. I will be much more careful about what I delete from now on. I think I will freeze it in TiBackup first to make sure everything is still working correctly. Hope this helps.

Does anyone have a flashable .zip of the 9.8.1Q-78-1 kernel?

I flashed argghhh's kernel and am having bluetooth stutters (with apt-x headphones). I am not sure it's because of the kernel though and want to test a bit.
Does anyone know how to restore the previous kernel without re-flashing the stock rom?

Just dirty flash the stock ROM, without wiping anything. Well, you could wipe cache/dalvik just to be safe. If you don't wipe data, dirty flashing the ROM shouldn't affect anything.

As sloosecannon made clear a simple solo restore of the boot partition / img is replacing the kernel.

Thanks everyone!
And thanks Attack!
Update: Oh wow, that was it. No skips at all now. 2/3 of my audio programs would skip before when starting a song (again, only when using an Apt-X compatible bluetooth headset). Or they'd skip when opening a menu while playing a song, or turning off the screen. Skips would continue for 5-10 seconds and then it would even out.
Not even once on the stock kernel. I guess I'll report this to arrghh

Yeah, no idea. A dirty flash got it all back and working.
If I pressed the wifi toggle it would just turn back to off. After a few times I got the 10 fast vibrates and still nothing. Wiped caches a few time, still no.
But I'm back up and running
I was having an issues with my WiFi when using arggghhss.
Flashed the stock kernel from this thread and now I have the same problem with my WiFi not turning on. A dirty flashed fixed this? What's a dirty flash and where can I find a stock ROM?

Dirty flashing is just flashing without wiping anything. Just dirty flash whatever ROM you're using and it will reload the original kernel that came with that ROM. You can wipe cache/dalvik to be safe, but don't worry about wiping data when you're dirty flashing.

it should still work via CWM - but I think most folks are using TWRP.
what are your steps in the process?
mine would be:
copy zip file to the root folder of the sdcard (mnt/external1)
reboot recovery
mount system
wipe cache
wipe dalvik
wipe data/factory reset
wipe system
reboot recovery (not sure if this in an option in CWM, if not, then just make sure that system is still mounted)
mount system
install ROM
reboot

Well I got it flashed. I was doing a dirty flash so I didn't wipe data or system. But I guess I didn't realize that you had to Mount system. I assumed that the recovery did that automatically.

I mean that I get an error trying to flash any different recovery, and the methods I've tried to use fastboot to flash a new recovery (CWM) haven't worked.
I tried to use adb to push an alternate recovery to the correct folders in /boot, but that didn't work either
I really want to flash my cm11 build because I can't stand being stuck on my current sluggish rom.

The problem is that TWRP 2.3. It will not allow you to flash older zips that have old versions of update-binary in them. The solution is to find a newer zip that has the right updater-binary in it. I'll be right back with a link to one.
