Sending in TmoUS HD2 for broken digitizer repair.
I put it back to stock rom and removed HSPL, just want to make sure this is fine because I read everywhere about SPL being 1.4x or 1.6x, mine is 2.08.
This is what my SPL screen shows
PB81120 HX-B3
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(Touch) 0x40
The 1.42 and 1.66 were for the 512LEO. Your 1024LEO (TMOUS) started with 2.08. and since it is 2.08.000 and not 2.08.HSPL then you are back to warranty.
Off topic question, is the reset button yellow or red?
Thank you. My reset button is red. I did searching, turns out the red button HD2's have alot of problems compared to the yellow buttons.

As Kurt says there is an anecdotal story still going the rounds about the reliability differences between the red and yellow reset versions of the TMOUS LEOs.
I guess there isn't. I heavily searched the forums and that's the conclusion I came up with.
Just this official communication of HTC:
The regular HD2 have a red reset button.
The T-Mous device have a Yellow button.
based on this we can conclude that almost 75% of the HD2 devices are regular devices. So, do you think that thy all have issues???
I have a TmoUS HD2 with a red button...
I just picked up a TMOUS Leo with a bad digitizer and am going to send it in for repair.
Appreciate the clarification on all of the details, so I can rest easy sending this device in for service. The former user was probably truthful in saying he hadn't modded it after all.
Also, mine's got the red Reset button, for what it's worth.

first batch of tmous had red, but after a few weeks yellow started showing up (allegedly because america sees red spots as water damage indicators, amongst other conpiracy theories).
combined with the first tmous release roms being buggy and being quickly re-released, thats where the red unstable / yellow stable myth came from.
Trying to put my phone back to stock
Hi, I need to send my HD2 out for repair under warranty and I already flash my phone back to the stock rom. The only problem is that I still have hspl on my phone. How do I uninstall hspl and install the stock spl? Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.

bootloader - usb - hspl4.exe - choose spl you want
Thanks Samsamuel! HSPL4 worked with no problems. Now I have another question but first I'll explain whats going on. I was running the energy2 rom for a while and loved it but just recently my touch screen stopped responding. So I hard reset it and flashed it back to the stock rom. Thats when I noticed that the SPL didnt change. I ran HSPL4 so now my SPL reads 2.08.000 instead of 2.08.HSPL. Now my question is...... since my touch screen still doesnt work, how can I check to see what actual rom is on it for warranty purposes or since the SPL is back to stock should I just not worry about it? I just received my replacement but I want to make sure I am good to go before I send back my original one. Can anyone give me some insight? It would be much appreciated. Thanks.

To check your ROM version from Home Screen touch on Start Menu/ scoll down to About phone/Software Information. Once there you will see your ROM version. If you have a T-Mobile HD2 and the ROM you flashed was the latest update from T-Mobile you should have ROM version 3.14.531.1 (0466) WWE.

or maybe a touchscreen free method would work better,,,,
go into bootloader, it tells you the spl there. for regular hd2 any 1.x or 3.x ending .0000 is fine, for tmous any 2.x or 3.x ending .0000 is fine.
What you can do to be sure, is to remove hspl first then then flash the rom, that way teh flash changes the spl to what it shouldbe for that rom.
So for you, you already removed hspl, so just run eth flash again over usb, and it will install that roms stock spl. so example if its a 1.66 stock rom, it will downgrade 2.08.0000 to 1.66.0000
Cool, that was gonna be my next step was to flash the stock rom again but I wasnt too sure. I'll try it out and let you know. Thanks again!

Sorry my bad man I forgot they said the touch screen wasn't working. I feell like a moroon now lol....... I will have to pay closer attention from now on. Oh and samsamuel I have been reading alot of your post and I personaly want to thank you, you have taught me and I am sure others alot we did not know so kudoes to you my friend.
well thanks very much, you're very welcome.
I'm a fan of Karma, i'm banking on getting a 'congratulations, you win!' popup when i die.
No big deal T-Macgnolia, its a common mistake. You were only trying to help and I greatly appreciate the effort.
Thanks again Samsamuel. I flashed the stock rom again and now everything looks exactly the same way the replacement phone looks minus the working touch screen. lol! And I double checked the rom version by running the tmobile update rom again but only up to the screen where it shows your current rom version and asks if you want to update. Then I just cancelled the update once I am sure which rom is on there. So just in case anybody has their touch screen go out and they are trying to flash everything back to stock, they can try the steps that I tried to verify the rom. Thanks again everyone!

thats a good check, but dont rely on it totally (Its right on this occasion, im just talking for info).
The updater pulls that version info from the roms registry, so you can make it say 'ive got a great big tonka'' if you want.
That is also the reason you get no info at all when you manually enter bootloader before running the flasher, because it cant access the registry from bootloader.

Hello,
I'm a noob, through and through. I think that I did everything correctly. I flashed Artemis v8.0 and followed the instructions, then it said that it was completed successfully. When it boots, however, it gets stuck on the "stick together" screen and displays the R G and D information in the bottom-left as it should. Also, when I access the bootloader and re-run the flash, I see no image version information listed. I should mention that the flashing process only took about two minutes. I already did a hard reset.
Did I do something wrong? What do I do?
Update: I tried flashing KUMAR and have the same results; the only dirrerence is that the information listed for D has changed to 1.66.KUMAR... oh my...
...Wow.... I can't believe it. It won't turn it on at all after flashing the original LEO ROM. Looks like I'm toast now...****...
What radio are you running? What model phone is it?
The radio is default. I didn't touch that. I installed HSPL then flashed a couple of ROMs, none of which worked. I think that I may have flashed the wrong version of the official LEO ROM fromthe sticky. So, it looks like I'm screwed. The best way to learn from your mistakes is to lose $500.
you still didnt say what phone, tmous is different from all other hd2's
if its a tmous, then yea, i suspect its gone. (it was possibly recoverable at your first and second posts, cos that was roms that dont support 576meg ram, so flashing a tmous specifric rom would(i think) have fixed it, but what official rom did you flash? anything other than the tmous 2.10 rom will have had a bad radio, and as we all know by now, the wrong radio bricks tmous's
(Edit - sorry, didn't mean to rub it in, just wanted to explain what had happened at each step)
I flashed LEO 1.48 (WWE) from the stickied thread. I can't post the link because I'm new. I don't even know what TMOUS means, so I suspect that's not a good thing. It's the model with 1024 MB ROM is all that I know. If I can find out exactly what, let me know.

Yea, tmous is T Mobile US. They will ONLY accept roms of the 2.10 family. Thats why your first 2 rom flashes failed.
However the damage was done by the radio. Stock roms come with a radio as part of the rom, and the official rom you flashed is oooold. Certainly it has a ..51.. radio.
Any radio with ..51.. in the version will not support the 576meg ram that the tmous has, and as it turns out, they stop the phone even powering on. (or powers on but black screen, the PC sees it as a qualcomm usb device, if it sees it at all.)
I've yet to see anyone offer any kind of fix, though i have seen people say they have had it replaced by tmob.
Unlucky.

if they figure out the warranty its void im sure they'll still fix it, they'll just charge for it.

heh so there is a silver lining after all.
you used HSPL?
if you did that and you go back to store make sure you dont have HSPL more on your phone!!!!!!
I have made the same mistake, i flash the rom energy 1apr , the flash was made succesfuly end phone was started normal and functioned , i close the phone and when i opened him , the phone stock on the wake up screen ( htc on white screen ). what kan I do?, please help me
i had some how same problem before like Sticking in boot screen
1. i tried hard reset hold Volume up+down and press end button till it will start and then it will ask you if you wanna do reset and press volume up for accept after that finish it will ask again to press volume up for boot then it would boot. if does then you need to correct the radio and also ROM which is correct for you
2. another is task29 method
let me know if you could make it...
thanx , i am at work , bath will try later
@costinn : try to flash the proper Radio ROM. It happened to a lot of people because they do not learn about the radio compatibility! Try 2.08.50.08 and you will be fine!
[SOLVED] Help, installed wrong ROM (european), now stuck with "Stick Together" screen
I bought a T mobile USA HTC HD2 phone in the U.S. and tried to install Artemis ROM which is for european phones only.
So now I'm stuck with the pink welcome logo ("stick together").
If I press the volume button and soft reset, I can see the screen with my HSPL.
I tried to do hard reset, but it didn't work.
Please help me how to roll back to original rom, or to install any eligible for T mobile usa rom.
Thank you!
Sweet, so that means you are able to get into bootloader?
Just flash task29 then flash a tmous rom
Thanks for the reply.
Could you please exlpain what task29 is and how to do this? Or where I can find the info.
I am a complete noob in this stuff (obviously).
Thank you
Remove SD Card, and Sim Card....
First get into bootloader by holding down the volume down button and power on the device.
next down load this file and run it as administrator: Follow the prompts and instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5848003&postcount=19
When it hits 100% get ready to hold down the volume button again.... the HD2 will reboot and holding down the volume button will get you back into the bootloader.
Now get a US compatible rom and flash it the same way you just did the Task29. This time when its done flashing remove the battery and re insert your SD card and Sim.... let the phone boot up and you will be good to go.
Hope that Makes sense lol.
illconn, thank you for detailed answer!
I'll try it when I'm home. The only thing though is where can I find the US compatible ROM?
update
I got, I thought I'd need official T Mobile's ROM from their web site, but I'll be able to use any of the ROMs available in XDA. Right?
to be safe i would use the any of the ones in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653114
Once you read up a little more on here, and understand how some of the things work you can see there are a few more roms that you can use.
But before you can do any of that you need to make sure your phone has the right HSPL... there is a SSPL but just do the HSPL its easy.... now if you have already done this then great. If not start by reading here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
GL and welcome to the world of custimization!!
Yeah, I decided to try to understand the process of changin the ROM.
Now I understand that SPL boots the device. And HSPL allows to boot custom ROMs.
So what is task29 for?
Task29 pretty much formats the internal memory.... although putting a new rom on the device erases, it sometimes leave bits and pieces of the old roms.... so its recomended you Task29 before a new rom so that you dont have any complications later. For example some people will have a lot of freezing, or programs crash, once they task29 and reflash problem solved.

Thank you!
And last thing, just want to make sure everything is ok, not to repeat the same mistake. When I go to the bootloader, I get Red-Green -Blue-White screen with this data:
PB81120 HX-B3
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x40

That's okay to do the custom ROM, right?

Yes that is correct; by it showing "CotullaHSPL" that means you HSPL'd your phone and can download any compatable ROM onto your device, but just as posted above use task29. I was afraid to use it myself but after flashing my phone now about 30 times I've gotten over it.
Here is the link to the stock ROM's :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=655653
if you use the 2.10.0 it will be back to stock. (but you can still burn ROM's onto your phone) because it won't erase you HSPL, if you run it from your computer.
Make sense?

Wow. Number one, triple posting THE SAME QUESTION. Uhm, no. Number two, this is the HD2 or LEO section, NOT THE ATOM ONE. You won' t get any help here, you need to go post in the atom section.
Gotta say....I did the same thing as |OP|....this thread is making me very comfortable to fix my problem. Kudos to you guys for being patient with |OP|...it helped another newbiew
I talked to the number on #1 post and all I got is that I must ship the old one first. I told him about my location that shipment would be problem (from me to them, I can arrange shipment to US address and resend to me). Damn, now I must get it on my own for $50 or how much they cost (no ebay, they are mostly scams). Plus I got no Transformers, the card broke down and I had to format it (didn't help for fixing the freezing issue).
I talked to them over Skype though, because.. well I live in Europe. I'm not sure he understood me well, I have a sore throat and I'm having obstacles talking .
I'm having a little problem with the super display of my BIG(marvelous)HD2..
Now after some months of playing with roms and others, i have two stains/halos near/under the battery connectors and processor..(anyone has the same ?)
I'm thinking to deliver it in Htc center
but surely not with the AxLor 10 rom flashed in...
So to reset it in Factory condition how i have to do?
I was thinking to execute Task29, and then install the 1.66 original rom

That's all you need to do mate!!!
Your HD2 will be in the very first condition from HTC.
Task29 will remove the rom and when you put your original rom back on, you can do it 1 of 2 ways:
- either flash it via sd card, or
- flash via pc and then run HSPL2 and change hspl back to spl 1.66.0000
The removal of hspl is key as most service centres will check for this

No, running the exe file will not replace the spl version. This can only be done if you flash the rom.nbh file via the sd card.
The easiest way though is to run the exe and then use hspl2 to revert to your stock spl. To check your spl version, switch the device off and then while holding the volume down button in switch the device on. It will boot up in a multicoloured screen and will display the spl version.
i executed the task29 by ShaDrac ( with radio....)
now when i enter in boot loader: picture it's really bad.. I have:
PB81100 HK-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE
0x05
CotullaHSPL 0x30
i don't think it's ok.. I'm not sure..
reading CotullaHSPL, it means it was not factory default.. or not ? bhuuuu..
the rom now is 1.66..
pleeeze it's factory default now?
its only stock once the spl ends .0000
like clyde mentioned, your next step is to run hspl2 and choose an spl that ends 0000, and that will remove the 1.42.hspl and replace it with stock.
Go for 1.66.0000 since that is the rom you are running.
thanks today i'll try now i have to gooo

then i'm thinking to keep the original rom just tweaked with cookie's super add-onS and somethings else, preventing any problems...
yea thats fine.
ok.... i have finally got my hd2 2 the point where im happy with all apps and mods ect ect... however i am lookin 4 a way 2 restore it 2 the exact original i got out of the box... i mean everything restored... reg entrys... rom... spl... ect ect as i have changed and rechanged everything so many times i think i have a few bugs.... so my plan is 2 restore everything and set it to how i have it now in 1 go so i dont ''piss it off'' in random changes... my specs are below in my signature which look pretty standard but i have done many registry tweaks and installed many applications which i have chopped and changed many times... also tried to install duttys rom many times but that kept failing and hspl would never install so that could maybe be a small factor in the few bugs i have... the main bugs are to do with random freezing here and there... battery drain... and overall performance... im aware some of this is due to the apps i have installed but i had a very simmilar setup a short while ago and this worked fine... but as im never happy with what i have i messed around a lil more and here i am... so any advice would be grately aprieciated... and if any software is required could u possibly post the links....??? many thanks in advance... luke

Hy guys and girls.
I am a bit confused here and would like to ask for some help, by the way I already spent a lot of time lookign for answers here but I get more and more confused.
Well I wanted to try some Roms and I saw the high suggestions to install the HDPL first to avoid bricking my expensive HD2, well I tried but the problem is here.
FYI my HD2 is a Telstra version. It came with a black GUI style I guess it was the world wide version, but I am not sure as I did not recorded any info (did not thought on that), then I installed the original Australian Rom (at that time I was not looking for fancy Rom just for the latest upgrade and did not even know about cooked roms). Then I came back to the worl wide version because the autralian one was too bloated, not as nice as the black GUI and it was slower.
Finally I tried the HSPL2 to start tring with ROMs but it gave me an error message telling me I had the wrong version or something like that (I supposed because it is the Telstra version).
Then I tried the HSPL (older) but it gave me an error message telling me I need version 1.42.00. Here it get confused for me: When I do VolDwn + Power I get the following information:
PB81110 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE
0X05
CotullaHSPL 0x40
Serial
1st - Well I read that 1.42.HSPL was supported by HSPL so why it is not being accepted?
2nd - Why my unit is stating CotullaHSPL if I never installed it before? Cotulla comes with it?
3rd - Whats is HSPL in a interaction perspective? It is just a software that sit there and work alone without any GUI or it is something that does have a GUI that I can choose options and things to do? I am still lost on that.
4th - Sorry for the noob questions, but I apreciate if there is someone with patience to help me out (thats what I do when I can help someone).
Thank you
Felipe

1. You already have HSPL, so no need to install it again
2. Cotulla is (one of) the developer(s) of the HSPL, sort of a copyright
3. HSPL is a peace of software that essentially allows you to install other (custom made) ROMs or ROMs with another language. It has no Userinterface, but loads the ROM on your device
4. Your welcome
Ok but how it happened to get in there if I could not install it?
Perhaps it came with Telstra?

No, it will deffinately not have shipped with HSPL installed.
Sounds to me like someone already hspl'd it and installed a new rom. (black gui?)
did you buy it second hand?

Hell no I bought it on Expansys, however the box that it came on had a picture of a Telstra one, with blue theme, but when I turned it on it was the world wide black theme and not the Telstra blue one, I changed it latter.
I even tried to instal the HSPL two or three times but it always gave me error messages and never showed the progress bar.
This is too strange for me.
Now I am very afraid if I really have the HSPL installed or a bugged or corrupt HSPL on it because of my failed tentatives.
what you guys suggest me to do to be 100% sure I have HSPL on it before installing cooked ROMs?
Thank
Felipe
i also bought a telstra version t9193 too. The seller ask me for permission to install the Official Rom for me. They state that i will have connection problem if i choose to stay with telstra's rom. So let them install HSPL and Official Rom since i don't want to deal with the connection problem when i have the device. I believe your seller install the HSPL and Official rom for you because they know u will have the connection problem.

Thank you
Felipe

Hello man, I'm brazilian to, so if you want send me a PM I will explain things better in portuguese
Think in SPL/HSPL/SSPL like a BIOS in a PC, it will help you to understand some things. The SPL/HSPL/SSPL are the first softwares that the phone loads.. Read more here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=SPL Questions?
If you phone shows HSPL on the bootloader and it boots, probably your HSPL is not damaged.
Stock phones does not comes with HSPL (that is secure unlocked), it comes with SPL. Probably the seller flashed HSPL on your phone.
So, it is simple to know if you have HSPL or not:
Reset your device - press volume down - Read the screen and if it has HSPL or anything similar, you has it!
Another way is more objective:
Download a custom ROM, then try to flash it via MicroSD method. If it flashes, you have HSPL, if not (security error), you don't have it
Does not metter what version of HSPL you have on your device, it will falsh any custom ROMS. **be carefull** ..................READ READ READ.......................
I sugest Sternas ROMS (ARTEMIS).. It has PT and is very stable.. Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612580
I hope it helps!
Have a nice flashing
Digao100nocao,
I tried to upload Artemis with the MicroSD but nothing happens, not even an error message.
I changed the name and formated the MScard and copied it to the card but as soon as I get into the bootloader nothing else hapens. When I restart the old ROM is still in effect.
I can only upload it with the CustomRUU, but doing so does not overwrite the HSPL.
As more as I try more it is confusing and weird.
To make things even more scary this morning my earpiece stop working, now I can't hear anything thru it, I hope this is some software problem and I can get it to work.
What I want to do now is just uninstall the current HSPL as I do not trust on it anymore and reinstall a fresh new one. Problem is that I can't find an old version 1.42 to install it thru the MicroSD, only .exe files.
Very strange problem.not able to flash any radio of rom after flashing tmobile official RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_3.14.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.42.50.09U_2.14.50.04_2_Ship rom.
every radio of rom upgrading process gets stuck at 0%.
Also my screen becomes dead freeze after the official rom boots up.
HSPL
Did you flash from your sd card or usb, because if its from sd card, hspl will be written over?
My guess is to download hspl3, choose the 2.08 hspl option, and you will be fine.
Judging from your post count you probably know that already, lol
Just trying to help.

luckily after flashing official Tmobile Rom,i patched my HSPL back to 2.08HSPL.and now i have installed NRGZ 21916 (Energy style(close to reference without cookie's home tab) ROM.but now im not able to use the phone as the touch screen is not working permanently.do u suspect a hardware problem here?
i am from India and my Tmobile Hd2 din come with warranty as we dont have Tmobile here.i had a word with the HTC Service center and they are saying that the device has a screen sensor problem and a replacement will cost me Rs7,000 INR.
i do not want to bare this cost.please all members,i request you to provide me a solution to this ridiculous problem.
Should i go ahead with Task 29? would it be safe.since i am able to upgrade roms successfully,i really dont find it a need to.but my touch screen is not working and the only way to interact with my phone is to connect it via mobile device center and then use MyMobiler.
Any kind of help would be highly appreciated.
Based on the ability to flash a rom I would look to restore it factory radio and rom. Then start over. I know this is a pain but it migh solve the issue. Maybe something is hosed in Ram during flash.
I had Moto Droid that the screen quit working after applying a CM rom. I had to flash over my original SBF and then re-root and apply a new rom. May have been over kill but wanted to be sure. Also had the old HTC Titan(XV6800 on Verizon) do the no touch screen thing on a rom flash.
In the end it doesnt hurt to try.

seems like hardware- you are having the same screen problem with different roms, correct? similar situation happened to me where the keys worked, but the screen stopped working (strangely, immediately after installing android.) tmo replaced the device. just my $.02.
As long as you have HardSPL on your device then I would sugest trying to flash some different Roms and see if any of them get rid of your TouchScreen problem.
Try Duttys Rom *HERE* first as it is a very stable Rom and is compatable with TMOUS HD2's. Flash via activesync, let it boot into the setup screen then take out the battery and hard reset.

What SPL do you have on your phone?
The only other thing I can sugest is to try installing a different HardSPL. If that doesnt fix the TouchScreen problem then im afraid your phone has some kind of HardWare problem.
Have you tried the original stock rom that would have come with the phone?
Mark.
