[Q] Galaxy Tab - important question! - Galaxy Tab General

hey XDAs,
just ordered my galaxy tab 1 minute ago.
IF it should happen, that i have to send my tab back to the shop, will the hard reset put the tab in its original settings even if there were custom roms and root permissions?

it reverts to the original state of the rom, so yes.. if your rom has root baked in it will have that too.....

so is there a way to put it back to "factory-new" mode?

Hi!
I don't think it will factory reset. But it will go back to the previous rom you installed and wipe all the data and applications.

Factory Reset and firmware question

I just bought Galaxy Note 6 days ago, it came with 2.3.5. German firmware, so I updated to 2.3.6. via Kies with little problems but updated after all. The phone is so laggy and slow that I want to try factory reset first. WillI go back to 2.3.5. original firmware. I really don't want to go throught that Kies nightmare again. It took me 2 days, trying every hour to finish the update. I have no root, everything is stock at this point.
Thank you developers.
I think you should give new firmware some time. It should settle within 2-3 days of usage. According to me it takes some time for a new battery or firmware to give optimum results.

When you do a factory reset it just wipes your user data and resets the settings just like if you were to open it out of the box new but whatever firmware you flashed to will still be the same because the previous 2.3.5 firmware was overwritten.
I have updated today and the response of my Galaxy Note is swift en everything but
laggy. Never heard that new software has to settle?
For what it is worth.

That is odd, I had this problem, but it was when I was rooting with Zergrush. There was an issue on flashing the zimage(second step) after the root had finished. So I rerooted again and the lag went away.
I would honestly do a factory reset. If you are rooted already, do a titanium backup of apps + data. Then later only restore missing apps with data.

com.android.phone has stopped

Hi guys ino this problems has been posted before bui cant find the answers none of them work.
Basically this is note my phone its my grandads i updated the Firmware from Gingerbread to ICS last week and when people phone him this process stops. Now ive tried going into reject messages settings and having less then 5 and it does nit work. The phone is NOT rooted and will not be as I don't want to screw upp their warenty.
I would normally wipe permissions but I cant since CWM is not installed.
I also cant replace phone apk as I need Root access.
Please any help would be great.
Firmware version. : PDA:LQ2 /PHONE:LPT / CSC:LP4 (CPW)
Stock ICS 4.0.3 ROM
Guess first thing to try would be to wipe cache and data on the dialler app.
Every time ive had this problem though, the only tying thats worked has been a factory reset. Id watch out doing this on an ics rom though, samsung have now admitted the emmc issue and are working on stable kernels but they will probably be out a month or so.
Alternatively you may be able to use an alternative dialler from the play store.

Apologies, i think you'd need to be rooted to install an alternative dialler.

Wiping/factory reset will do the trick, I was having the same problem, coming from pre rooted Gingerbread to flashing non rooted stock ROM ICS through PC Odin.
After wiping problem no more force close on phone.

i wouldnt advise a factory reset with all the info we now know, would you like to be responsible for his bricked phone
i would wait til your in a position to install root safely and use a safe kernel then wipe
What I meant was a wipe after stock ROM was flashed through Odin, doesn't that remove CWM? It IS safe to do factory reset without CWM installed is it? And if you can't use your phone without well, having com.android.phone running and you do just a factorey reset it needs to go back to Samsung anyway. Hard resetting your phone doesn't seem to break warranty to me, does it?
Any advise will be appreciated, I'm still trying to figure out what to do and how to root ICS.
Thanks.
Do NOT factory reset in ICS as it could initiate the superbrick. Only wipe in CM9 or gingerbread.
Ok. Thanks. Already did it though . I was lucky to not brick the damn thing
Rolling back to Gingerbread doesn´t work, unfortunately, I get errors/fc on at least 3 important processes.
Edit: Well, I managed to get Gingerbread working again after all; flashed back to GB through PC Odin and then do a full wipe/factory restore.
wipe cache and dalvik cache will do the trick.
Guys I said that I do NOT have CWM installed nor am i rooted so little of these options will work. But I factory reset it went into reset area of setting and restored to stock and everything works fines now so THANK you also another note my granny's Galaxy s3 had the same problem after fixing the Galaxy note about 3 days after had to reset hers as well and its fine now. I wondered if it could be because i brought both phones from Carphonewarehouse ?
Thanks for your help

[Q] Hangs on Samsung logo on restart (rooted)

Hello, I rooted my handset yesterday following the tutorial on Android Forums, my Vodafone (UK) branded build is JDQ39.I9505XXUBMEA
I also installed CWM PhilZ Touch 5 (v6.0.3.7)
It works fine inside the OS but occasionally, when I restart the phone, it just hangs on the Samsung Mobile logo?
When that happens, I have to hold the power button then hold Up+Home and boot into PhilZ and then go to Reboot System Now and that restarts the phone mostly back into Android as normal.
Any ideas what the problem could be?
Good question. Haven't come accross something like that. I suggest flashing whatever ROM you want. It should get rid of your problem. If you still want a stable rom with all Samsung features, download Wanamlite 2.0 rom. It's a very good replacement for your stock rom. Or you can try Omege rom. It includes all samsung bloatware incl. S HEALTH etc.
Good luck and let us know!
Thanks for the quick reply.
I have used CWM to do a full data back up onto my SD card. As I'm new to rooting, is there a way I can restore that data onto a new rom so I don't have to keep setting up my phone completely? Even like, settings and shortcuts on the home screen etc?
Not really. What you can do is backup all your apps etsc with Titaniumbackup. With this you can restore all apps+data.
Setting up your phone isn't that bad considering its only settings.
Tha initial backup youve made through CWM is only a backup of your system. I dont think this includes all apps. I never revert to a previous rom. I prever a clean install to have the best rom exlerience without bugs etc.
If you try a new rom. And you dont like it at all(not likely) or for whatever reason you want to revert to you stock rom. You can restore it via CWM. Thats about the only reason why youve made that backup.
Good luck.
Oh yes, one more thing. Remember to press the Thanks button
Will that (Titanium) back up my apps exact settings as well? Say like my login details or custom settings I have changed within an app?
So the back up I made using CWM (which was complete data and apps and cache I think?) can restore my phone to exactly the instance when I pressed back up including the ROM?
To be honest, I'd be interested in the same Vodafone rom that's rooted so I can just use Titanium to freeze the bloatware, I've had a look at the recommended ROMs which have options to disable loads of Samsung bloatware but I use a lot of them...

S4 boot problem

Hello,
I made the switch from iPhone 5 to the new S4 just about a week ago.
So far, not happy. But thats besides the point.
Today i was removing some "bloatware" and then rebooted the phone, now it will not pass the splash screen.
I have spent the last few hours scouring the internet for a fix with no luck. I have tried to find the stock rom (i think?), cannot. I have done the hard boot and reset, and cache reset.. and anything else I can find.
It WONT pass the splash screen no matter what I do.
Any ideas?
You will have to flash stock ROM (your particular variant)* via Odin. If you plan on keeping your warranty, it's best if you make do with the bloatware; If not switch to a custom ROM.

You may have accidentally removed something important from the system (for example the csc config or simtoolkit etc etc )
What you can do is just flash an old rom that fits your variant and region and then upgrade via OTA
AlSo if you can't find your ROM you can flash a similar region ROM as long as it is for your type of hardware.
The best answer I have tho is to get a pre rooted and de odexed stock ROM and flash that.
These ROM typically have the junk removed.
Remember make sure it matches your hardware.
