Hi guys ino this problems has been posted before bui cant find the answers none of them work.
Basically this is note my phone its my grandads i updated the Firmware from Gingerbread to ICS last week and when people phone him this process stops. Now ive tried going into reject messages settings and having less then 5 and it does nit work. The phone is NOT rooted and will not be as I don't want to screw upp their warenty.
I would normally wipe permissions but I cant since CWM is not installed.
I also cant replace phone apk as I need Root access.
Please any help would be great.
Firmware version. : PDA:LQ2 /PHONE:LPT / CSC:LP4 (CPW)
Stock ICS 4.0.3 ROM
Guess first thing to try would be to wipe cache and data on the dialler app.
Every time ive had this problem though, the only tying thats worked has been a factory reset. Id watch out doing this on an ics rom though, samsung have now admitted the emmc issue and are working on stable kernels but they will probably be out a month or so.
Alternatively you may be able to use an alternative dialler from the play store.

Apologies, i think you'd need to be rooted to install an alternative dialler.

Wiping/factory reset will do the trick, I was having the same problem, coming from pre rooted Gingerbread to flashing non rooted stock ROM ICS through PC Odin.
After wiping problem no more force close on phone.

i wouldnt advise a factory reset with all the info we now know, would you like to be responsible for his bricked phone
i would wait til your in a position to install root safely and use a safe kernel then wipe
What I meant was a wipe after stock ROM was flashed through Odin, doesn't that remove CWM? It IS safe to do factory reset without CWM installed is it? And if you can't use your phone without well, having com.android.phone running and you do just a factorey reset it needs to go back to Samsung anyway. Hard resetting your phone doesn't seem to break warranty to me, does it?
Any advise will be appreciated, I'm still trying to figure out what to do and how to root ICS.
Thanks.
Do NOT factory reset in ICS as it could initiate the superbrick. Only wipe in CM9 or gingerbread.
Ok. Thanks. Already did it though . I was lucky to not brick the damn thing
Rolling back to Gingerbread doesn´t work, unfortunately, I get errors/fc on at least 3 important processes.
Edit: Well, I managed to get Gingerbread working again after all; flashed back to GB through PC Odin and then do a full wipe/factory restore.
wipe cache and dalvik cache will do the trick.
Guys I said that I do NOT have CWM installed nor am i rooted so little of these options will work. But I factory reset it went into reset area of setting and restored to stock and everything works fines now so THANK you also another note my granny's Galaxy s3 had the same problem after fixing the Galaxy note about 3 days after had to reset hers as well and its fine now. I wondered if it could be because i brought both phones from Carphonewarehouse ?
Thanks for your help
Hi
first of all I would like to say that I'm a complete noob on android. I just switched over form IOS. I did have my device rooted and running the original stock rom.
I did a full reset this morning so that I can give my phone to my brother. When I was finished and went through the whole initial set up of wifi and google accounts, I clicked Finished and the "Unfortunately, settings has stopped" came up and there's nothing else I can do.
I tried doing a hard reset with the home, volume, and power button. Same problem persisted.
What else must I do to get this phone running again?
If you have a nandroid of the original stock after rooting and installing custom recovery I would restore that, if not you might want to install a new rom. Either way if /data is wiped and you're not worried about saving anything on the phone you have no worries.
Phone: Note 4
Version: 4.4.4 custom rom
Model: SM-N910F
Hi all looking for some advise. Rooted my phone a long time ago and never had a problem til recently. Within the last month my phone keeps going into boot loop and I need to put on charge to stop it, even if I have battery. Certain apps like the camera cause the boot loop and sometimes its just random.
Just wondering the best way to stop this? Isit safe to just install another custom rom over the one I've got and will that solve the problem? Haven't played around with custom roms in a long time so can't remember anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.....
Any suggestions please I'm desperate? Just getting worse my phone has to be on charge now or it goes into the boot loop every 10 mins or so.
make a nadroid backup and do a factory reset thru the phone settings? I'm thinking it could just be a misbehaving app update, if you didn't make any new modifications to your note 4.

I did that yesterday and it's helped a little. Still get the boot loop but not as often. The camera is usable now but I'm still getting the boot loop sometimes..... Any other ideas?
Install a different custom ROM or simply Odin flash a stock firmware.
Instructions of installing a custom ROM is stated in the OPs of the ROMs.
I rooted my nex4 so i could put some apps on but left the rom stock but now it is not updating properly. I read that my phone needs to be unrooted to update properly or to do a factory reset (I am thinking about selling it, but would like to be able to say its updated and clean).
Is there a program that I can use to *un*root my nexus 4?
Thanks in advance
Flash factory image.
So a while back I flashed a pre-rooted firmware from this thread. Everything was working flawlessly until I had to go back to a stock rom for some time. Then I flashed the pre-rooted one again only to find out that whenever I update or uninstall apps my phone just restarts. I haven't done any factory resets in between flashing the roms (I probably should have), so that might be the problem but I just want to make sure. One thing to add is that I can normally update/uninstall apps on the stock rom.
I can provide additional info if needed. Thanks for any kind of help.
Format it will be fixed
Factory reset your phone and the problem will be fixed
