Well, I tried a lot of key combinations to enter the safe mode, but nothing worked for me. Is there a special variation for the Galaxy 3 or is it the same as for other devices?
Most of the instructions sounded like: "Press the menu button while booting" or something similar. But my phone starts in normal mode when I do this.
Is there anybody who knows exactly what to do to access the safe mode with "our device" - I mean the Galaxy 3?
if u mean recovery mode then it's "vol down+vol up+home key+power button"..
when u see "samsung i5800 or i5801" whatever on screen u can leave them..!!
The recovery mode is no problem. It can easily be activated. But I didn't mean this. The safe mode is something different. It starts the system with only default applications, e.g. the default launcher.

you could try menu + home + power like SGS or if you are rooted after "su" try "reboot safe" or "reboot safe mode" if you are able to get to the terminal
I don't have root access. So I can't user your second advice.
And the SGS combination doesn't work for me.
But thanks anyway!
the root method doesnt work, tried it

My friend has a i5801 which i recently had her change to the zhjpe 2.2 rom.
she does not like it so tried to flash back to the indian 2.2.
BUT ever since the flash to zhjpe, the default download mode switch combo does not work(Vol down+menu+power). BTW it worked on the indian 2.2.
What i've tried and failed so far
1. I rooted the phone (superOneClick) and installed terminal emulator. entered following command
su
Click to collapse
reboot download
Click to collapse
It says not found on second line
2. used the battery method:
remove cards and battery, insert usb, hold both volume keys (up+down) pop in battery with keys held...
boots into OS !!
i dont wanna try ADB...coz i cant get her phone physically now
any other method. please suggest.
You did it the wrong way!
Power off phone, hold home and volume down button, and press power button(you'll see the Samsung logo with GT-i5800/1)
Done.
You are in download mode, you can use Odin now
Alternate method
(Seems like you are rooted)
open terminal emulator
type "su" (without the quotes)
hit allow on the popup that asks for superuser permissions
next type "reboot download" (again no quotes)
Another way
power off
launch odin
connect data cable to phone and pc
power on phone
look closely at odin, in one second you'll see the yellow box, press start then and the phone enters download mode and flashing starts
I did try the commands, apparently they did not work. i shall try...anyway my friend seems sick of her phone's battery life and might even change it first chance she gets !!
anyway thanks for the replies
You can go into forced upload - switch off the phone, hold volume up, menu and power together and you go into forced upload. Set up just like for download mode and flash. Done!

Hello,
I'm having a issue with Custom Recovery.
I've tryed to install both (CWM and TWRP).
The thing is when I turn off my device to
turn it on again pressing Vol Up + Power + Home I got a message saying "Recovery Booting". But the recovery doesnt start, instead my phone vibrate and begins to boot normally. It doesnt enter in custom recovery mode.
I was hoping someone could help me on this.
My device:
Stock ROM
Root (Edited to get rid of Custom status)
1337UCUAMDL
Does anyone know how to unistall a custom recovery or have any idea why this is happening?
By the way I followed this steps

Thanks
Are you letting go of the power button when the device vibrates?
This is how I get in recovery...while phone is on, long press power button for power menu, press restart...than only hold the volume up while it restarts and nothing else, it will than boot into recovery

have you tried re-flashing the recovery?
Have you tried downloading one of the simple reboot tools that let you choose to reboot recovery?
Thanks for the help guys.
So I tried enter in recovery thru CWM option (Restart in Recovery) it worked.
But it doesnt work when I try manually (vol up + home + power). I really dont know why.
I'm afraid flashing a custom rom doing this way, because if something goes wrong I wont be able to acess the costume recovery.
Is there a way to unisitall the custom recovery?

when you see that blue text, and even right before that when your s4 vibrates, are you releasing just the power button? also, have you tried mg2195's suggestion? what recovery are you currently running?
Just flash a different recovery using the one u have.when I first rooted my S4 I used ROM manager ,it had the T-Mobile S4 option so I tapped it and it flashed CWM .after reading about "Loki"I decided to go with the auto Loki .I downloaded the auto Loki and flashed it with the recovery I got from ROM manager.not one problem and I like MDOB MF3 rom

This is actually a common problem for some reason. There's an easy workaround:
Long press the power button and choose "power off". Give your phone a few seconds to turn off completely. Once it's off, press and hold these 3 buttons at the same time: POWER+VOLUME UP+HOME. Look at the top left of the screen - as soon as you see little blue text saying entering recovery, let go of all buttons immediately...but be ready...if your phone vibrates (it might be trying to reboot normally again), press and hold those same buttons again until you see the blue text again...then let go immediately. Now you will see your recovery!
Alternatively, when I'm not on a custom ROM that has the reboot options mod built in, I use this app to get to recovery/bootloader easily:

Hi guys i have an SM-N9005. The phone is from a plan Vodafone Australia.
I want to root my device the steps seem easy and simple enough.
However I cannot get into the "download mode"
whenever I do the 3 button step.
All that appears is the "android sytem recovery <3e>
it didnt prompt me to press Volume Up to continue.
Proper samsung drivers are installed but since it can't get into download mode.
ODIN on my PC is not detecting the phone.
Any ideas?

The three button steps consist of either Volume UP or Volume DOWN - try switching - both go to different modes, off the top of my head and the fact I'm not long out of bed I can't recall which is which
Download mode = Volume down, menu and power button.
Recovery mode = Volume up, menu and power button.
You have gone into recovery mode...
worked like a charm! Thank you. Wonder why in all videos and guides they say volume up.
samsung galaxy note 3 sm-n900
i can't really get into download mode with my samsung galaxy note 3 though it will accept the 3 buttons press, but when it pop-up with
1.) press up to enter download mode
2.) press down to cancel
that's the point where even if i press up several times, it will never go into download mode so that odin can recognize it. And the volume keys are working perfectly.
Please how can i go about this issue????

Some xposed modules such as wanam, xblast have 4 way reboot option(reboot, hot reboot, recovery mode, download mode). Try with them to get into download mode.

Please how can I enter this 4 way reboot options you're talking about cause I tried all the buttons press I know of...
---------- Post added at 07:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:37 AM ----------
Let me be more clear about my issue, the phone was working even after I root it and I am running lollipop OS (v5.0). I downloaded TWRP from playstore, it requested for updating which I did and on rebooting the phone, that's when the problem started. If I on the phone, it will just show Samsung galaxy note 3 SM-N900 and that's all. Please help me as entering download mode seems impossible as my volume buttons stop working whenever I am to press up to enter download mode or press down to cancel.
Help!!!!!

If you're running with stock rom, then impossible to use xposed.
As i mentioned earlier there is xposed module to make it entering download mode.
If i were you i'll flash twrp with terminal emulator, then flash a custom rom. From there no need to use combo button anymore. If it work, you can back to official firmware by odin.

I cant either. Volume up button not working. I can get to select screen but can't volume up. Also, jig isn't working.
Was attempting to switch back to stock messaging app, and was using some old rom (mint jelly) with Titanium backup/rooted. I made the following changes :
unfreeze messaging app
restart bluetooth pairings
uninstall beauty face
uninstall best face
and then restarted my phone, and will not come back on? What the hell?
Will not enter recovery, at all. Just stays frozen on SAMSUNG. Not amused, please help if you can
Are you sure you are pressing the correct buttons? Volume UP + Power, when the device vibrates release the Power button and when 'Recovery Booting...' blue text appears release Volume UP button.
If you still can't enter the recovery mode there is only one option left: flash stock firmware with Odin!

however there doesnt look like much i can do with recovery mode. the only backup is a year old and might as well be reflashing. is there some way to get into safe mode and maybe undo the changes i made in TitBackup?
To start Safe Mode you have to Power on the device with the Volume DOWN button pressed, until it boots up
I have three (3) Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 on my table.
I tried to enter recovery mode for all three that what happened:
The first Tab: Start up Logo says "Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" was working well. I used CWM to enter recovery - it shut down and booted up to the mentioned Logo. Nothing else goes with this one anymore.
The second Tab: Startup Logo "i Robot" can not enter into recovery.
The third Tab: Startup Logo just "android" no problem to enter recovery with power + volume.
Conclusion(?): As I have tried ALL possible combinations with power and volume ( the i.Robot) even has a hard home button) the first and the second Tab can not enter into recovery. Is it possible, that there are Tabs without recovery function?

To enter recovery, you need to hold down power, home, and vol+
If you try that and get the robot logo again, try the other volume button, it sounds like you might be mixing them up
No recovery?

thanks for your reply. But please read the questions carefully before your reply. I am fully aware of how to enter the recovery mode. I have done this with various devices. My question was if someone knows if there are devices/models which do not have recovery mode at all. I have two devices, tried all button combinations even with different sequence. However i can not enter into recovery at all....

Thanks sub77. I can do that with the Tab that starts, but I have one that, after trying to reboot into recovery from the CWM app it just goes to the startup logo and no further. The hard button as mentioned don't work and ADB is useless if the phone does not start....
