App not visable to user. - Android Software Development

Why would a user not be able to find my app? The app is made for 1.6 and above and API 4 the user has a samsung galaxy gt i5500.

You also need to support multiple screen resolutions in your Android manifest file.
Even though I did in my app it still doesn't show up. So you might need to look further.

I also have this problem with my app. I set out to sporty multiple res and out sdk doesnt show up for somber ppl.
Sent from my Nexus One

Hmm how do I set to support all or most Res?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

in your manifest file u add
<supports-screens android:anyDensity="true" />
for any resolution, if u only want to support specific resolutions there is info on googles android website.

OK thanks also this has just made me think even though I built on 1.6 and api 4 will it work on older devices like 1.5

Screenshot app for unrooted Desire (?)

Hi guys!
Is there an app to take screenshot images and save them in the storage card directly as camera does. I don't want to root my device just for this purpose, at least not before the official froyo upgrade. Thx

Try shootme, from the market.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Shoot Me requires root. You can use the Android SDK.

Android SDK is the only way if you dont have root AFAIK
well.. where to find android sdk? it is not available on the market. Thanks for replies..

It's not a phone app, it's a desktop development environment for Android:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Available for Windows/Mac/Linux
this link tells you how to take screenshots using the SDK
http://blog.digitaltinder.net/2009/06/how-to-take-android-screenshots/
No app does this yet... Site Shot gets the closest with a functional, albeit limited, workaround. Some other apps like Gensoid allow them to take screenshots too.
So the method suggested above is what works.

Thanks mates..
Site shot seemed only for web browser pages, didnt try anything else with it though. Android sdk seems the only way to do that, so far. Actually i'd thought an app similar to wm app "shake n save" could be found for android too.

There is a game called farm towers. In that game it allows you to take screen shots. On my cdma htc desire I was able to take screen shots while playing the game. It force closed but it saved the screen shot
andriod commander is fab .. for screen shots
I looked on the market and didn't see anything called that at all. Do you have the link?

Did you set the permissions correctly? I've only tried replacing the camera before but I wouldn't see why these apps wouldn't be the same

Didn't try that. But can someone make a flashable zip for the apps? That would make life easier.

Better CM7

There are so many versions ...
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=RC
Which is the best candidate/stable version?
There is only one version actually. The one with "buzz" in the filename is for the Wildfire. The others are for other phones.
For some reason, it's not showing on the list, but you can get it by simply adding another parameter to the URL:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=RC&device=buzz
Is there a cm 7 version where the Bluetooth works

Run Ubuntu on Android now

While we wait for official Ubuntu on our phones, we can experiment with other ways to get it running unofficially.
There are numerous guides to running Ubuntu using a chroot and VNC but VNC is often considered slow.
I will suggest using this app (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14816535/AndroiX-debug.apk) instead of Xvnc. It's X window made into an app.
Start your terminal and chroot normally, then launch AndroiX. Now type in your terminal:
export DISPLAY=localhost:0
xinit
and switch back to AndroiX running your Ubuntu desktop.
This sounds awesome. Can't wait to try it out
This is cool.
How much of a speed improvement have you noticed on this versus VNC
Wow, can't wait to try :victory:
Keep getting x server errors =[

If you really want to make us a favor, you should add more information. Just posting an APK from some Dropbox account is not going to help users.
What is needed:
1. There is this "AndroiX" project with a Google Group at https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/androix-users , which does not have a delivarable yet, and probably the APK you are refering to, has to do with that project. Can we get a proper picture as to what exactly that this APK support? Yeah, it's an X server, written in Java, that supports some X protocols. Can we get an APK from some official page?
2. Is what you mention related to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxats9ejrG0 ? It has even fewer information.
With a proper description, you will get dozens of Thanks. Or anyone who can pick it up.
Ubuntu + Galaxy Note's Huge screen = NICE!!!!
It would be awesome to use the full extent of screen and processing power of this phone... can't wait to put my claws on that!
Also the link is broken

HTC Hidi (HTC's voice app)

Hello,
Just want to share it with you guys, if you know or not but htc has also made a voice talk system like S-voice known as "HTC HIDI".
It's only available in the chinese version only right now and we might see it in the new 4.2.2 upgrade.
Here's a video of htc hidi (but in chinese):
