[Q] Android 2.2 Stock continuously authenticating wi-fi - Networking

Hi all,
So to start with, I am a total noob with android. I have a HTC Desire Z running stock Android/ Sense.
The problem I am having is that every so often I seem to lose my connection to my home wlan. The wireless symbol on the phone shows full strength but I can't connect/ sync with anything on the net. When I check the wireless & settings page on the phone, it shows that the phone is authenticating with my router. It stays like that till I turn wifi off and on.
This seems to happen whether I am using the net or not, I feel it may take longer to happen if I am using the net via the phone over the wlan but can't really say for sure.
I have set wi-fi to never sleep in case this was the issue, (previously had been set at never sleep when charging). Power saver is set to turn on at 15% but the problem happens even if the battery is full.
I don't know if the problem is my phone or my router. My wireless router is a Zyxel P-660HW-D1, does b and g. I am using WPA2-PSK and arm on channel 6. SSID is not hidden.
I have carried out a search here and the only post I could find mentioned something to do with PEAP. I have no idea what this is. Also read up on that but it lost me tbh.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks for any help guys.

Hi there,
Just got a new HTC desire HD running 2.2. I have the same router and I have exactly the same issue.
If you find a fix please let me know.
Cheers

fingers crossed
hey chemjosh,
well I may have sorted the problem out. Currently running over three hours and no problems with browsing. Have left the phone on charge and the signal is there all the time. Although when I check the wireless settings it does say that the phone is authenticating with the router, this however does not stop my browsing!!
So I have made two changes, the answer could be either or maybe both. You can try one at a time and see how it works out for you.
The first and easiest change was to change the max frame burst. I increased it to 1000. I found it mentioned on some website that changing this might help. I tried lowering it to 300 but it made no difference, so I then increased it. Maximum Frame Burst sets the maximum time, in micro-seconds, that the ZyXEL device transmits IEEE 802.11g wireless traffic only.
This is found under network/ wireless LAN/ advanced setup.
The second change was perhaps the most obvious. I updated the firmware. This can be found on the zyxel website. I won't link as the version you use will depend on where you are. Updating is relatively easy. Just make sure you know what your ISP login details are in case you have to enter them again. I didn't, but it can't hurt to be prepared. The version I am using now is P-660HW-D1_3.40(AGL.9)C0, the router stats it is from the 12/07/2009.
To update your firmware extract the zip file you have downloaded. When on your router home/ status page, either click on ZyNOS Firmware Version: or go to Maintenance/ Tools. Just click browse and select the .bin file you have extracted from the new firmware zip file. Click upload and wait for about 5 minutes. That's it.
Since I've tried this the wireless and networks settings page on the phone still shows the phone in one of three states, either connected, authenticating or obtaining IP address. In any of these states I can still browse. Not really sure what's happening but hey it's working.
Hope this helps, I am no expert in all this but I am so hoping this is the answer. I'll post back if I have any problems. Hope it works for you too.

So as a kinda update. I am still having some issues. Occasionally I find that market or some of the sense widgets get stuck. Wifi shows it is still authenticating.
This doesn't happen when I browse the net. Can browsing reset the connection ?
Any way that's a good as I can get it for now.
If anyone has any ideas please chip in. Cheers.

P-660HW-T1 v2
Man, this Post Office router have broke my heart, I swear.
I have two Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 devices in the house and both drop their connection with the router every couple of hours, sits at 'Authenticating'. It could be a setting in the router but geez there must be 1000 different network settings on the Router.
Here is some general router info:
Host Name: P-660HW-T1_v2
Model Number: P-660HW-T1 v2
MAC Address: xxxxxxxxxxxxx
ZyNOS Firmware Version: V3.40(BGQ.3) | 06/18/2009
WAN Information
- DSL Mode: ADSL_G.dmt
- DSL Noise Margin (Down/UP): 5 dB /19 dB
- IP Address: xxxxxxxxxxxx
- IP Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
- Default Gateway: N/A
- VPI/VCI: 0/38
LAN Information
- IP Address: 192.168.1.1
- IP Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
- DHCP: Server
WLAN Information
- SSID: xxxxxxxx
- Channel: 6
- Security: WPA2-PSK
Security
- Firewall: Enabled
- Content Filter: Disable
Might try a software upgrade as recommended above, maybe. I have a WRT300N-V1 (could flash to DD-WRT???) that I could use in bridge mode and shut wireless off on the ZyXEL.
Anyways, if anyone find a solution, other than binning the router, please let me know.

BTW: I had a mate living here for a while and he a Toshiba laptop running Vista, that too had the exact same problem although there is no issues with my Dell C640 running Linux Mint Debian Edition.

OK... short one....
I have the prob as well with the zyxcel router p-660....
first a work around to make the problem less bad...
in the router config - Network->wirelessLan put the max value i.e.9999 in the field for "ReAuthentication Timer"
that makes the problem comes up "only" every 9999 sec - better than nothing...
Second:
I had the problem first back in Jan and begining of Feb than I put a CM6 nightly Rom on my HTC DHD... somehow the issue was gone I Upgraded my nightly rom from time to time and at some stage when I installed CM7 the problem came back.
Explaining the prob:
after enabling wifi it connects fine to my zyxcel router WPA2 encryption....
DHCP is running on the router and finally I would say the DHCP server/client is somehow the problem... because once the ReAuthentication Time is over the HTC DHD is ReAuthenticating all is working as expected but for some reason the HTC is not updating the status...
Result: after reauth is happening and the status not gets updated some apps still have network access - some not - some limited...
so the connection is up somehow but the DHCP lease is not valid somehow
next thing is this seems to be an issue of the combination of zyxcel and the android - also other few routers are affected by this... will try to get access to a router where I don't have this prob and pul log and see - maybe something can be figured out
sorry for this crappy explanation - I just state what I guess from seeing the log
here it is the Log - read from bottom to top:

Edit:
I will add a view links related to the problem...
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=12125
Edit: Also ich habe mich ein wenig mit der Sache.. oh english...
So I have made some tests on a different AP and so far I ruled out a few things...
As far as I understood it the wpa_supplicant is responsible/in error
The Zyxcel P-660... For the DHCP server of the router it is not possible to set the DHCP lease time
But you can set this ReAuthentication timer... as far as I understand that are 2 different things and these 2 events are handled in different way by wpa_supplicant.
if lease time is expired the client is requesting a full new lease from the DHCP server. The reauth is just a kind of confirmation that the WPA key is stil valid... somehow this way....
so wpa_supplicant handles correct if it needs a full new lease but somehow after the reauth it is not setting the Stat to connected (it is connected but it's state is still the authprocess so counted as offline) ...
Ideas: 1. I was trying to set the lease time smaller than the reauth time but in the Router I do not have the option (unable to test the idea) so if that can be setup this way, the client gets the new lease befor it is asked to reauth so if the time counter for reauth gets reseted when the client requests new lease, this should be an easy workaround
Also checked a bit if it is possible to overide the parameter for the lease/reauth time localy i.e. in the WPA_supplicant.conf - no success so far
a.t.m. i just try to get familar with the wpa_supplicant looking at it's code as this is causing the issue - I believe..
I'll update you -in case I find the problem in the code is someone here able to help me compiling it and test it? I'm a bit noob when it comes to that kind of stuff - thanks

This is it exactly. The sense apps wouldn't work for me but other apps seemed to, dolphin hd etc.
I ended up changing routers in the end. I picked up a Billion 7800N. Everything now works great, line connection speed has increased too. It's just, I now have one goddamn ugly router.

I was thinking about new router as well... fair enough the router is a peace of shine... but the router is not thr real problem - other WIFI devices i.g. my notebook is operating fine - problem is, as I think, the wpa_supplicant...
I looked a bit into the code... but it's quite huge one spread over multiple files
So far - I haven't given up yet

Active sync problems

I have an I-mate jasjar (rom 1.30.76WWE and Radio 1.09.00)
My problem is the following:
using my laptop at work (XP SP2) and active sync 4.2, I cannot sync all te time. Sometimes it's working well, but in most cases, active sync loses connecting after trying for about a minute to connect. I'm coonecting using USB. Using Irda it works always.
Any clues?
Thanks
Hello, I've experienced some similar problems with my universal, it's quite a common point of view that active sync 4.X is a bad app, it has generated lots of problems (in fact is called active stink by quite a few) enough with this.
Anyway, I solved most of my problems just by using the PDA's original sync cable, I mean that, having my digital photo camera with mini USB, a couple of card readers also with mini USB, bluetooth devices also with it, well, I usually picked up the first cable I had next, and connect my universal, let me tell you that not all cables are just equal, it seems that this device (universal) is somehow "delicate", and wants a short and simple USB mini cable.
This is a possibility, another is that something is interfering with your USB connection, possibilities? USB hub, another device is sucking lots of current from your USB port (USB scanner without its own independent power supply, etc).
hope this helps
not solved yet
Thanks for the suggestions, but this is not (my) solution:
I'm using the original cable and using no hub or other USB diveces at this moment and still having the problems.
In the meantime I looked at the knowledge base of Microsoft and only found a patch for SP1 which is included in SP2. So no help from there either, I think
try restarting DHCP client..
Try restarting the DHCP client service on your laptop. If you know your way around the service manager then you know how, or if not you can open up a windows command line on your laptop and type in this at the command prompt (without the ""-s of course ) :
"sc stop dhcp"
then something like this should appear:
SERVICE_NAME: dhcp
TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
STATE : 3 STOP_PENDING
(STOPPABLE,NOT_PAUSABLE,ACCEPTS_SHUTDOWN)
WIN32_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
SERVICE_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
CHECKPOINT : 0x1
WAIT_HINT : 0x61a8
then wait about 10 sec then type:
"sc start dhcp"
you will receive something like this:
SERVICE_NAME: dhcp
TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS
STATE : 2 START_PENDING
(NOT_STOPPABLE,NOT_PAUSABLE,IGNORES_SHUTDOWN)
WIN32_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
SERVICE_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
CHECKPOINT : 0x0
WAIT_HINT : 0x7d0
PID : 976
FLAGS :
after a few sec your pda will reconnect to the activesync sw on your machine
PS you don`t necessary need to disconnect your uni while doing this.
Sometimes I have a similar situation where I plug in my uni via USB and it just don`t want to connect to activesync... (I running the latest ver of the activesync client on a 32bit WinXP w SP2.) The above method may not take care of your problem, but it certainly won`t hurt to try and see... It certainly fixes my problem, but keep in mind this is not a permanent fix. It may resolve the issue on a per incident basis, although it`s not very convenient.... I hope MS will solve this with an update on the active sync or via a Windows Update..... will see...
just my 2c
use USB switch program
i had problem like you also where i could only connect via infrared, but now its solved by using USB switch program that I got from Dopod website.
no success

4G :: Inland Empire :: (POMONA AREA) ????

Hey all, so this afternoon I was sitting in my living room and somehow my 4G got turned on, and I happen to look at my phone and it was popping up 4G Network Avail. I was like no way, something is wrong. So I looked some more and sure enough it was trying to connect. It would say "Connecting to Sprint" for about 1 -2 seconds then a real quick disconnted, and back to scanning and it just repeats this over and over. I had to go out and about this evening and left the 4G on and it kept doing it out and about too. At one point it stayed on the "Connecting to Sprint" for like 10 seconds and then went back to scanning.
So I'm thinking there is a site nearby and maybe it is not accepting users yet, but man this is exciting. If anyone lives in the IE, let me know if you found any spots. My location is off the 71 fwy and Phillips. Also off of the 71 and Rio Rancho it woudl see it there as well.

It should connect in the next week to two weeks... same happened where I live in oc...
Sent from my second wife using swype on xda app
That would be nice......

I'm in Fontana I haven't tried it yet because I'm using cm6 and it has no 4g but last time I went to West Covina and I picked up 4g there

So I was able to connect to 4g. I kinda think the tower is on the hills where the 57 and 10 are. Where I live in Pomona, we are up on a hill that over looks pomona and we have a road that circles the entire hill, I drove around it and on one point right near the 71 fwy It connected. I did a few speed tests and the fastest one was over 7Mbps down...however going back to my house a few hundred yards away it just see's it but will not connect....
I was driving through Pomona a couple weeks ago on the 71 and got 9mbps down on 4G.
Yeah I think Sprint is rolling out WiMax in greater LA area.
It used to be I won't get WiMax until I get close to downtown, now at home in SoPa/Alhambra, I get decent WiMax signal. And there is actually no signal in Pasadena lol.
Earlier this week when I was in San Gabriel, my Evo sticked in WiMax most of the time.
It's good to hear and see WiMax being rolled out in greater LA!
A friend of mine claims to have 4G in Anaheim down to Santa Ana, but not in Irvine yet.
I can confirm i've picked up 4g several times as I drive through pomona on the 10freeway between fairplex and like gary. Could be you're picking it up from this area but the signal is just weak.
When i do pick it up in that area its full bars. I'm running Cyanogen ROM currently with no 4G so havent tested it in like a month..
i picked up 4G near john wayne airport down to south coast plaza driving down the 405
Gary and foothill has 4g

Hello, we're neighbors! I'm in Southridge. I haven't begun testing 4G yet, but I am now. I'll subscribe this thread and try to look out for the IE.
About two months ago, our company's Sprint rep told us 4g would be available to us within the next few months...I thought he was full of crap.....Hesperia. So far no 4g yet, but I'd imagine if the I.E. is starting to get it, were not far behind.
I'm now able to get the 4g in my house....man its fast...over 10Mbps....

Nothing in Redlands yet. C'mon Sprint,
still no damn signal in Pasadena, but i'm moving to San Diego tomorrow, anyone know if there's 4g there?

[Q] A500 3.2 loses WiFi connection

I've always experienced more or less problems with WiFi connectivity on my A500, on vanilla 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 and now, 3.2 Lightspeed 1.0.4 mod.
The tablet loses WiFi connection (with "(No service)"), then either reconnects in a second or stays with "connecting" message for several seconds and re-tries again and again, losing connectivity for 5-15 minutes. The problem is unrelated to DHCP (i.e. tablet never gets to "obtaining IP address" phase). The problem is quite frequent and persistent - short-time disconnections happen up to several times per minute.
I'm using self-built WiFi router, based on Atheros 2413 PCI card and GNU/Linux system (hostapd), WPA+WPA2-PSK. All devices (phones, notebooks) I've encountered worked fine for years, so the problem seem to be with tablet, not access point.
logcat gives me story like this:
Code:
I/wpa_supplicant(20318): CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED - Disconnect event - remove keys
V/WifiMonitor(19967): Event [CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED - Disconnect event - remove keys]

Then it repeats for some time. At the same time, hostapd_cli all_sta on the router says that tablet is considered associated (i.e. it never sent disassociation packet, and not yet timed out).
It seems that the problem is related to background AP scanning. If I run ping using ConnectBot or adb shell, I get lots of the following messages:
Code:
E/wpa_supplicant(20318): ioctl[SIOCSIWPRIV] (cscan): -1
W/wpa_supplicant(20318): Failed to initiate AP scan.
And connectivity seem to stay better. It may accidentaly go down, but that's relatively rare. So, my guess is, the problem is caused by bcm4329 not properly restoring its state after scan.
(Unfortunately, I'm not experienced enough to recompile bcm4329 module with WL_TRACE enabled to see what's going on inside the kernel. If there are some sort of tutorial on how to set up build environment - I'd be grateful if someone would give a link.)
Does anyone experience similar problem or has any idea or suggestion on how to solve it?
on the androidtablet forum several people have wifi dropout, including myself, after the 3.2 update.
Someone said if you do a static connection it solves it.
Problem is you can only connect through that router.
I had been doing a poke around with my DHCP server settings and the two tablets that use my wifi connection..
I found that if the DHCP lease time was any more than 24 hours, the tablet would re-lease about every 3 minutes which would cause a drop out of internet connection.
I found even INFINITE lease didnt work, so check the lease time on the dhcp server on your network..
My issue is certainly not related to DHCP, although, there are similarly-looking issues with DHCP (but connection hangs on "obtaining IP address", not "connecting" phase).
Reasons:
- No DHCP activity happen on tablet or router (I've checked this with tcpdump)
- Logs indicate that wpa_supplicant does not enter "connected" state, but hangs with
Code:
I/wpa_supplicant(20318): Authentication with 00:13:46:xx:xx:xx timed out.
Obviously, static IP address assignment did not help.
However, I've temporarily disabled WPA/WPA2 (leaving network completely unsecured) and WiFi stayed connected for about an hour without glitches. As I've said, disconnections usually happen every minute. What really puzzles me though, is that after reverting the configuration disconnections did not start again. I don't get it.
Update: Nope, it still disconnects, although way less frequently (like once in 5-10 minutes). Still wonder why.
I never had to install the wifi patch for the last release. After the update, I had wifi dropout and installed the patch, then edited the lease time on the router. No problems since. Hth.
I, too, have Iconia A500 problems w/ Wifi. I have a Cisco router, works fine, all other wireless devices work (PS3, Samsung Vibrant, Ipads) but the A500 dumps Wifi every 3-4 mins... down for 15-30 seconds, then springs back up to life. I updated to 3.2 in HOPES to fix this but sadly, no luck yet... It's quite upsetting because I love the tablet but really regret purchasing... Acer's tech support is TERRIBLE at best, and have been no help. Factory resets, wifi analyzers, nothing helps... I could root/rom this thing but what if that does not work?
Can I open this f'er up and fix something hardware related? Why doesnt the Asus Tab drop out where my Acer does??
All this is really strange. I had the wifi drop out on the 2 roms I tried, tabbonay and HV. So went back to stock 3.1 rooted and no wifi drop out, went to 3.2 stock rooted and no problems either. The other day, I wanted to try the latest tabboonay again, love the rom but the problem started again. Back to 3.2 stock.
I know other said they have the problem with stock 3.1 and 3.2 so I wonder what the common element is.
I have responded to a similar "wifi"disconnected thread with my solution.I basically flashed the villain kernel 3.7 on top of taboonay 2.2 and my problem went away. Ymmv, I guess....

I just bought an A500 Iconia, it worked very well until asked to update. He upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1 and then the problems started. He is not even connected for 1 minute.
It is brand new, unrooted, stockrom.
please help. Does anyone knows how to fix this problem?

I don't think there is a definite answer. From what I can tell, there are probably several problems with the same type of symptoms.
But here are a few pointers that I have been able to gather:
-3.1 seems to be the worst. 3.01 or 3.2 work better. So either downgrade or upgrade. Please be aware that a 3.2 upgrade make rooting harder if you choose to do so.
-Setting the router and/or the tablet to static IP seems to work better than
DHCP.
-Rooting and upgrading to 3.2 ROMS (Taboonay 2.2) with the Wifi fix AND the VillainKernel 3.7 fixed everything for me, but I still don't have confirmation from somebody else that this is a general solution.
-Switching to no security instead of WPA2 seems to help with the symptoms.
well, the tablet upgrade to 3.2 (i´m still with the unrooted stock 3.2) and the wifi issue continues. I tried to contact ACER many times, but the only thing they answer me, is to make a factory reset, as much I tell to them that this does not solve the problem.

I'm running stock 3.2 on my A500 and had problems with Wi-Fi dropouts every few minutes, most noticeably when trying to maintain a constant connection with SSH or FTP. After modifying the Wi-Fi settings to use a static IP the problem is gone. I can now keep a solid connection without any dropouts.
***UPDATE***
I sent my A500 tab in for warranty work, pitched a ***** about the WiFi...
Their work order claims that the "WiFi is operating normally for this model"...
But it has some new software build and for the last 2 weeks has not even missed a beat on the WiFi, with 100% uptime and connectivity!!! NO CLUE what they did, they will NOT tell me anything via email or phone, other than it is fixed... They know there's a problem... send those tabs in!
I have the same exact problem. I've tried flashing a few different rooms like taboonay and thor but both had the same issue. I flashed back to stock 3.2 and called Acer support. After calling a few times and them having me do several factory resets they finally had me send it in for repair. All they did was "reload android" which would have been fine if it fixed the issue but it did not. I called back and they had me send it in again and assured me the tablet wouldn't be returned unless the problem was fixed. So I sent it back and when they returned it the work order only said "ran diagnostics. Unit is okay." Well it is not fine. I've tried two different routers at home which work fine with many other wireless devices and the wifi at work all from different distances and same issue. It doesn't happen all of the time but it does very often.
So I called Acer support back and they transferred me to second level support (well it actually took me several calls to get to them since the support staff in India don't seem to really know when the US support team is actually open for calls). They tell me that they left it connected overnight and didn't see any disconnects at the server (similar to one of the earlier posts in this thread) and that my only option would be to send it back to them for a third freaking time. I tried to get them to just replace the damn thing (as others on the web with similar issues say exchanging it worked for them - unfortunately I'm outside my return period - and I have two friends who bought the a500 at the same time as me and they don't have any issues) but they said they can only repair. So I suppose I will send it back to then for a third time with the stipulation that they have to actually use the tablet for a while from various distances, clicking around on web links, to test it. Several times if necessary and speak to me on the phone while they are doing it if they can't reproduce it themselves.
And if that doesn't work I will just have to ***** at them until they agree to replace the thing. Like someone else said, I like the device a lot, but am really regretting purchasing it now.

So I did end up sending it to Acer again. They reloaded Android again and...replaced the LCD screen... The only reason I could possibly think of that would prompt them to replace the LCD screen in trying to fix a WIFI issue is if the antennae is embedded in the screen itself, but regardless, I got it back and its doing the same freaking thing.
At this point I am just completely speechless. I have no idea what Acer support is doing. I tried calling them after I received an email saying my tablet was fixed and was being prepared for shipping since I never received a call from them like they said they would, but first level support would not transfer me to second level until I received the tablet back verified it is still having problems. But they assured me it is definitely fixed this time. Definitely never buying Acer again .
A500 in right now to be looked at
I took my A500 to Acer repair depot today ... I took a picture of my Iphone / Laptop and A500 all together with the wifi signal visible on all 3. I showed the technician that I had full signal strength on my other 2 wifi enabled items but only 2 bars on the A500. He said that it was not a fair test as the laptop has 2 antennas so it would have a stronger signal. I explained to him that I understood he could not comment on what is obviously a problem .. he said he would look at it. I now sit with my fingers crossed and wait for the phone call to pick it up.

[Q] Connection icon greyed

Hello,
two days ago my mako started to show grey connection icon for mobile data. The background synchronization also does not work.
After connecting to Wifi both icons go blue, synchro works.
Sometimes after disconnecting from wifi the mobile data icon stays blue and synchro works, but in 99% it greys out
Tried: android 4.2.2, android 4.3, cm 10.1.2-stable, 20130824-nightly cm 10.2, all of them have same problem
Has anybody some advice?
Logcat
Code:
D/ConnectivityService( 551): handleInetConditionHoldEnd: net=0, condition=0, published condition=0 // grey icon
D/ConnectivityService( 551): handleInetConditionHoldEnd: net=1, condition=100, published condition=0 //blueicon
if condition is 0 the icon is grey, when condition is 100 the icon goes blue, and everything is fine
edit:// internet is functional, manual sync too

Yeah, this means your device is having trouble communicating with Google's servers. If you're getting blue bars on wifi, I suspect it has something to do with your carrier or APN settings. Who are you with?

Compare with your APN settings:
Contract
Dial Number : *99#
APN : internet
Username : (leave blank)
Password : (leave blank)
Pay As You Go
Dial Number : *99#
APN : gointernet
Username : (leave blank)
Password : (leave blank)
dialing number not found, but everything seems fine
weird is, that sometimes it stays blue after wifi disconnect
and that manual sync works and internet works
problem solved??
i played yesterday with APNs, changed APN type to "default, supl, hipri, internet", many times did "reset to default" in APN, and finally it started working, i don't know why, i don't know how, but it works

Good to hear
It was probably a carrier-side issue then.

Motorola G Pure (2021) sometimes goes into wifi/cellular freeze and stop receiving new data

Hello,
I got the following phone:
Moto G Pure | 2021 | 2-Day battery | Unlocked | Made for US by Motorola | 3/32GB | 13MP Camera | Deep Indigo
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09BTB5MKT/
It has an Android 11 installed. The phone is typically connected to the local WiFi network and can reach 300mbps download/20mbps upload speeds when running the speedtest app.
I noticed that sometimes (once every few days or couple of weeks) the phone stops reacting to downloading new data from the internet.
So If I try to go to chrome browser and load a page, it would load the page forever. The WiFi icon will still show as it's connected to the WiFi and connected to the network. If I try to do a speedtest, the app would be stuck and not start downloading everything.
If I try to toggle the WiFi on and off, or use the cellular it doesn't seem to resolve the issue always, typically this would require a reboot of the phone.
I also noticed that sometimes this issue is even worst, when the cellular would stop working too, so if I send text messages to the phone, and go to the messages app, the new messages wouldn't show, neither the cellular internet would work or it will be really slow.
One time, I ran into this issue with the "internet freeze" when I configured a VPN (software-defined mesh virtual private network), and I set the VPN to always be on in settings, the internet still worked, but when I tried to reboot the phone, although the VPN got automatically connected as expected after reboot, it went into the "internet freeze", and only way I was able to resolve it is when I turned the VPN off. Still, the VPN by itself shouldn't be an issue with the internet still working, as evident when I turned on the VPN when the internet was already working and no problem there, but somehow the turn VPN always might have been the trigger point to the get "internet freeze" issue. Previous times the issue happened, I didn't run any VPNs so I'm suspecting there could be multiple trigger points that could cause this issue.
When I spoke with Motorola tech support, there wasn't really much troubleshooting other than making sure the software is up to date and keeping track of when the issue happens or how often. They did show me how to generate a bug report, so when the issue happens again, I could send it to them for further investigation. I was able to get bug report when the issue happened today - Actually Android automatically identified that there was an issue and generated the report. I know it might have some private sensitive information so I might not want to share it, but are there parts in it that I could safely share? For example, in the file dumpstate_log.txt when I search for the word "wifi" I can see this message repeatedly:
######################################################################
Warning: Skipping "[email protected]::ISupplicant/default": cannot be fetched from service manager (null)
and similar messages to it such as:
Warning: Skipping "[email protected]::IAllocator/ashmem": cannot be fetched from service manager (null)
######################################################################
Here are some other suspicious lines:
######################################################################
*** command 'lshal debug -E [email protected]::ISupplicant/default' failed: exit code 128
[email protected]::IAllocator/ashmem does not exist, or no permission to connect.

[email protected]::IMtkRadioEx/mtkSe1 does not exist, or no permission to connect.

In file bugreport-ellis_retail-RRHS31.Q3-46-123-5-2-2023-05-28-20-41-03 I'm seeing these suspicious lines:

Is there anything in particular in the log I should look for? I see there are additional folders such as FS, lshal-debug, proto.
I'm mostly interested to know what causes the phone to go into "internet freeze" issue - How can this issue be prevented all together, is there some setting or something? Is this a common issue with this phone or with Android? Did this happen with your phone too?
Thanks.
