Full market in non-released countries

For some reason I cannot fathom HTC Android based phones like Magic and Hero is relased in Norway and are selling quite well. But full Android market is not released so we can only access free apps. Meaning I cannot buy CoPilot even if I wanted to.
Is there any way to open full market access? How does the phone detect my location, can I fool it by setting up a proxy or similar?
I would like to buy apps too. Sadly, I can only access free ones.
hey...
i live in Romania..had the same problem but this came in handy...
don't forget to save settings first
i could still receive calls and browse the internet with faked operator...but you never know what could happen
Thanks, will give it a try...

paid apps in denmark

hello
I can't find it any where so i need to ask, is there any way to get paid apps on my desire, when i can't download paid apps from market ?
Fisken -
I am in Denmark too. I use Marketenabler and so I can fake my provider as T -Mobil (US), and see both paid and free apps.

i can't install that, is that because i need to root it first ?

Yes.
Another easy solution is to use a sim card from another country where paid Android applications is possible. I have tried with an austrian sim card in Denmark without problems. Just download the applications using WiFi.
Unfortunately yes. It needs root privilege.

There's a third way that requires neither root nor foreign sim. It does require that you install Android SDK on you computer, and it's a bit of a hassle to set up the first time, but once you've done that, you have easy access to paid apps. It's what I used before I rooted, and it worked like a charm.
It's too complicated for me to remember off hand, and I'm a new user so apparently I can't post links, but try googling "paid apps i emulator" or "paid apps i telefonen"; it's the top search result for me. *
(it's in Swedish, but being Danish you should have little difficulties with that; sorry non-Scandinavians - try googling key words... Although we're probably pretty much the only ones left without paid apps in Market by now
* If it doesn't work, let me now, and maybe I'll just post the whole damn thing right here (if I can get the author's permission).
move to USA or something is another solution LOL.
ok I think the safest way for you to do this is buy a sim from a country that has market enabled. Rooting your phone just to be able to buy apps is a bit risky. Installing the SDK might be the cheapest solution tbh. And you just cant brick your pc doing that
I was able to install the SDK, but I failed to grasp how to install market.

Not sure what you mean; you don't "install" Market per se...
Once you've installed SDK on your PC, you create an AVD (Android Virtual Device), which is basically an Android emulator on your PC. In this emulator you can buy whatever you want from Market, and then push (or copy) it to your actual phone.
Are you following a guide? If so, which, and how far have you gotten?
If you understand Swedish, try this (exchange | for / ):

Dear eham, it seems to be a good workaround for me (for I don't wanna risk rooting and dont wanna change to sim card too frequently), just a few questions to ask about the emulator method.
would I still be able to update the paid apps if I download the paid apps through emulator? and will I be able to install it back if I flash my phone?
thx

"Dear eham"? why so formal
The answers are yes and yes.
You own the app (it's tied to your google account), so it's yours to update or whatever, but as long as you're unrooted you will have to do it in the emulator (as you can't access the paid app's Market page on your phone), and then push the updated .apk to your phone, replacing the old one. Be sure to add an SD-card to your emulator, and use ASTRO in your emu-phone to backup your apps to it as your emu-phone will have the same ****ty amount of internal memory as your real phone (if it's anything like mine .
And yes. Use ASTRO (or any app backup.. app) to also backup your apps to your real SD and/or your PC, and you can reinstall them whenever you want.

Very well said, Thx mate! I'll go try it out! Really wanna support paid apps! Anyone got an idea when will Google bring paid apps to other countries or Paypal for paid apps? It's non-sense for me in HK to be able to buy N1 though Google checkout and not able to buy paid apps.

You're welcome
Btw, you don't have paid apps in HK?! That surprised me, I thought for sure you did.
But yeah, I second the question. What's the damn holdup, Google? Anyone got the scoop?
The last I heard (for Sweden) was January 2010. I'm starting to think that's not gonna happen...
i had marketenabler for 2.1 but upgrading to 2.2 stops the program from working unfortunately... =/

It didn't only surprised you mate, you shocked me as well when Iphone's app store has already been working in HK since like 2-3 years ago? Man!
well, one more thing to ask, Google had just push out the newest SDK, I am using it for the workaround, but seems it uses 1.6 for the emulator, could I use 2.2 (or at least 2.1) instead so that I could install my apps onto the SD card?
besides, how could I push .apk to my phone? basically how could I find the stuff on SD on my emulator?
Like I said in an earlier post, I went and rooted my phone, so I haven't used the SDK method in a while, and I couldn't really tell you if you could use 2.2 or not. I see no harm in trying, but I'm going to leave the answer up to someone who might know a little better.
But really, why would you? Maybe I'm missing something, but once you've pushed/saved, and backed up, the apps, you don't really need them on the AVD (emu-phone) anymore, so if you're running low on memory just uninstall as needed. You've paid for them, so you can always reinstall from Market if you ever feel the need.
Not entirely sure what mean by the last part. If you mean how do you push the files that you moved to SD using App2SD, I don't know. I don't have 2.2 or A2SD, so again I'm going to have to leave that for someone else to answer. Personally, I probably wouldn't bother with a 2.2 AVD as I see no real benefit, but hey, that's me.
So to reiterate: Use 1.6.

Dear eham (I really have to be this formal to express my appreciation )
finally got all things sorted out and successfully purchased 1 app and pushed to my phone (automatically through Android market), finally I can show my appreciation to the apps developers!
well, even though I can now get paid apps, being a non-root user with 2.1, I still have to wait for the official Froyo update from HTC to further enjoy apps (my memory is certainly full just after the 2nd day I bought my Desire).
anyway, great great help from xda!
Glad I could help

Buying from Market

I thinking about buying an application but wanted to know where the program is stored.
If I were to upgrade or change my android build would the application follow? Does the market place keep track of my purchases and lets me download it again or do I need to place it in a particular folder?
Thanks.
you would need a back up program but if u purchase a paid app from market you will find it in your downloads area

The way the android market handles this, is when you purchase an app, it links it to your google account indefinitely.
The reason for this, is for when you upgrade your device firmware, lose your phone, and purchase a new android device on any network (sprint, verizon, t-mobile, at&t, yada yada) you may get all of your paid apps back on your new device, or new firmware.
So, as long as you use the same google account to log in to your device (I don't know why you wouldn't because you can store all your contacts in the cloud on your gmail account), you will be able to get your previously paid android apps at no additional cost.
Have fun, and enjoy those paid apps out there. There are some good ones.

Paid apps don't appear when switching build
I'm actually a bit concerned about this.
I've been using mdeejay's Revolution for a few weeks, and decided to take the plunge an purchase the apps I use the most.
A couple of days ago, I installed desire_cs in parallel for experimenting. I dual boot between these two with no problem.
However, after associating the same account with Market in desire_cs, I do *not* see my paid apps.
I've tried various tricks (restore the Market data with Ti-backup, clear Market data, dial '*#*#CHECKIN#*#*', copy the fingerprint in build.prop, just wait online). My Downloads list remains empty, and Market behaves as if I need to purchase the apps again. Google Checkout (on the web) clearly shows that my purchases are valid.
Booting back to the MDJ build, everything looks dandy.
I tried restoring a backup of a paid app from the MDJ build into the desire_cs build. This works OK, but Market still does not flag the app as purchased.
This makes me hesitate to purchase any more apps - though I know Ti-backup will probably be able to preserve my MDJ setup for me, I will need to manually check for updates to the paid apps, and will probably need to aquire them from shady corners of the net.
Is this a fluke or one-time-thing with the build(s) I've tried, or will it happen with all builds? Can anyone say that purchases in general transfer fine between builds? (I assume the latter is the case, otherwise I'd have seen more complaints in these forums.)
Thanks for your time!

Gotta be some kind of a fluke, I have restored/updated apps countless times from build to build using the Downloads section of the Market. They have always showed up for me, I still have paid apps from my Tilt2 days that I d/l and update from the market.
Only thing I can think of for your case is maybe a difference in Market region between your two builds. Maybe if you use Market Enabler to change your Market region in your new build?
But before going on an app buying spree, I would install a new build or two, and experiment. Who knows, it's possible you may just have really bad luck or Google hates you
Strange...it has to be a fluke. I've bought many apps and I'm a builoholic...always changing (monster ADD) and the APPs are always waiting in downloads. The exception to this is the full version of launcher pro which I bought in app and paid for through paypal...
I'm with huggs in guessing its a region issue. Try Market Enabler and let us know what happens...kinda interested in the outcome.
You should be able to re-activate them with the google purchase transaction number (like I did with CoPilot)... after purchasing an app you should have received an invoice stating what your google checkout number was...
I have never had trouble installing purchased apps in different builds after upgrading. Both on my Desire and HD2 I can find all my purchased apps, regardless of on which device or ROM the app was bought.

is activation code needed top PLAY xbox live games?

So my phone is now unlocked and i followed everything in the activation guide except calling Microsoft for the activation code yet.
and I managed to download some apps through my laptop and installed to my phone and worked
but i tried 2 games which were "the Harvest" and "Twin Blades" and they don't work
but also i installed a LG game which worked fine
so i was wondering if this is because i still didn't activate live services or the HD2 isn't capable of playing WP7 games after all ??
Thanx in advance

Hi
I installed "Twin Blades" trial from the market (activated) and it worked fine.
I tried installing "Harvest" through my computer, like how you did it (I think)it installed, but didn't open/run.
I then tried installing Harvest trial again, but this time using the market, and it worked fine.
There might be a difference between the trial versions and full versions (in terms of installing / running), but I haven't tried purchasing any games yet.
Some xbox live titles work when you install it through desktop. So it's just a hit or miss when trying out apps that way. Either way, it is recommended to get an activation code to get the full WP7 experience.
I believe you used WP7 3MktPlace to download the games. Am I right? In this case you just have to wait for the vbguy (the creator of 3MktPlace) to update the software. He already found a way to make an automated patch for XBL games. (games other than Xbox LIVE games should work fine with current software)

yes exactly i downloaded using 3mktplace then installed using tom xap installer
so the only limitation from not activating the code will be using xbox live accounts or signing in to windows live accounts only?
and could u plz tell me more about this update??
also, is 3mktplace the only way yet to get apps and games other than the built in market place?
Thanx in advance
yes the only limitations are not being able to access windows live (includes x box live, live accounts) and marketplace.
3mrktplace isn't the only other way, there is another one, can't remember it but i think it's on xda.
Im sorry, Im afraid that I cant be more helpful in this matter. I don't know much about the updates except what I read in his blog. All I know is, in his latest blog entry he wrote that he already found a way to fix all those XBL games and he will integrate this new patch in new version of 3MrktPlace (v0.5). I think we should sit tight and wait for the updates, it wont take long
I only use 3MrktPlace btw, so I dont know about the other stuff. I browse the marketplace apps through zune, and I'll download apps through 3MrktPlace.
oh btw ahmedsalem89 : Get the activation code. Just call them. It's worth the try.
Thanx
I will Call them as soon as I'm sure that I'll be sticking with WinPhone 7 and not returning to android at least for a while

new to tablets but i bought this one so..

I have a couple of quick questions. Firgive if already asked.
Why are the markets so different? Many of the appa I use on my phone are not there. For instamce I can't find words with friends. I did some google searching but could not fine the apk.. any help with that, I would be thankful.
I like the tablet just lots to get use to.
If I wanted to read about rooting this device what's the best site? Instructions. The only reason I would want to root is to get the real market ..
Sometimes it is because the apps aren't compatible. Other times the reason is hard to figure, because they work fine as they are.
One thing that you might try is to grab the app (.apk) from your phone and move it using something like a Dropbox app, or a simple file transfer through your pc would work too.
first things first. I need to find the apk. Do you happen to know where i might find it? There must be a repo of some sort somewhere?
I relly like the device tho. Seems a little disorganized ... maybe thats true of android as a whlole. Not Android s fault but manufacturers not sticking to the spec?
Anyway. Thanks for the help
if your phone rooted, u can install the app and grab pk from /data/app
could think of a few ways
Most devs have a web page for their product out there somewhere - a lot of them will offer the .apk for you to download there. You can also try browsing the android market via web browser or trying one of the many external markets available (Appbrain/Amazon are great!)
Hope that helps.
Hmm... I have words with friends, and it coordinates with my account on my Droid, up to date... I have no advice, but wanted to say it works great.. was on the market for the tablet for Me... still is I just checked.
I find the web version of android market to be wayyyy better than the app...
