I just flashed bionix 1.9 ocuv w/ voodoo and it's pretty awesome except that nothing can get superuser now. Worked fine a couple times, now superuser crashes if anything tries to get permission or if I click the "super user" thing in the app list. Anyone have any idea what's up?
Haven't heard about or experienced this problem before. I was using Bionix 1.9 and am now on Fusion 1.1. Both have been really great, stable ROMs and are reflective of the quality, performance, and customer responsitiveness standard that Samsung should strive to meet in their future ROM releases.
It you are still having the problem after rebooting, perhaps redownloading and reflashing Bionix will help. I know it goes without saying, but be sure to disable voodoo first.
Edit: I will add, that I first tried a OCUV kernal and my machine kept having random FCs after running for some period of time. Since moving back to a non-OCUV kernal, Bionix has been great and stable for me.
Good luck!
Try running a "Fix Permissions" in RomManager, and then reboot, if it gripes about root access, open SuperUser first, hit the home button then open RM and run fix permissions ...
Hope that helps, only happened to me once but that is what fixed it ...
I ended up downloading a SuperUser app from the market and installing it and it's been fine since. Kind of a strange problem but hey...whatever. lol Everything is fine right now and my phone is running like a top. Love it!!
Thanks guys!!
Im running the same without voodoo and have never had the problem with su. Is fusion much different than 1.9 FINALE? What is different?
VibranT Bionix
Fusion 1.1 removes TouchWiz stuff, and uses LauncherPro instead. It is MUCH faster, has better battery life, and people are Flashing the JI6 modem over the JI2 and posting over 24 hours of battery life with moderate usage.
Some don't even use a LagFix with Fusion.

I am running DK28 viper 2.0 trinity with the genocide kernel and I am pretty happy with it. It is ridiculously fast and haven't had any problems with it all.
Is it worth going to all the trouble to flash it to EB13? Is it any better than the viper rom?
EB13 is amazingly smooth. There are a lot of shortcomings, but omfg the smoothness.
Plus pretty soon I'm sure viper rom well require eb13.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Your rom will most likely be updated to EB13 in the future, if you want to wait to just update the rom. I flashed the deodexed EB13 and am using LauncherPro and have not had any issues whatsoever, it is amazingly smooth and stable for me.
I think I will wait to change... It took a lot of time to find a ROM that was kickass and I don't want to downgrade it to EB13 if the specs are not overwhelming.

Specs? God knows you could never get back that millisecond extra it took you to open up a app.
Dk28 will not be supported anymore. If you like viper rom then just wait till they get a rom on eb13 and then upgrade to it.
I'm liking EB13 haven't seen the dk28 bugs like wifi errors.
My Experience with EB13
Here are the pros:
-Great TouchWiz launcher improvements. Allows for user settable home screens up to 7.
-Bluetooth VoiceDial works if you Odin the.tar file.
If you flash EB13 with CWM or update.zip its hit or miss. (errors out right after connecting to headset). I tried several times and still buggy.
-EB13 modem seems stable.
-TWS issues.
Here are the cons:
-Map compass is 180' off. Fix is to calibrate screen upside down. Then its fine. Accurate within 3-5 meters and oriented correctly.
So far I am running unrooted and happy. Baking it for a week.
Once I remove the bloatware, this should be a fast, smooth machine and I will be even happier. Stay tuned.
Epic Stock EB13 (Odin) Unrooted for now.
I say yes.
I have EB13 deodexed with Genocide 0.3a kernel and LauncherPro+, and everything is buttery smooth for me.
With the camera blur fixed. Its worth it. I love it!
I've noticed 0 difference, going from dk28 to eb13... genocide . 3a is AMAZING!!!!! But I was running it on dk28 also.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I'd say yes since the voice call (speaker toggle) bug and wifi bugs are no more, and it is smoother overall performance than DK28. Personally I would just flash the genocide .3 kernal on top of what you have now as I believe genocide is compatible with DK28 (or was it just that first release) and then wait till they update viper to eb13.
I plan on upgrading, just waiting for a ROM that catches my eye.

ACS Syndicate is so FAST. They are about to release the 1.1 version. Make sure to update. Excellent fixes involved. Should be the best EB13 ROM until Gingerbread (CM7) releases.

any problems with the phone apart from with games?
try flashing a stock rom
Where did you get your gameloft games from? Make sure you're using the latest version, most games are rushed iOS ports and run fast on some phones and slow on others.

I had problems with Nova 2 on stock JVP, it needs 70-75Mb of free RAM to run properly and Gingerbread seems more RAM hungry than Froyo was.
I flashed a RAM optimising script by JUWE and use the active apps to clear level1 RAM before gaming and no problems anymore.
Think Darky's has it's own version of RAM optimising, so just clear the RAM before playing. It's not your phone, it's the Gingerbread.
i did clear my ram befor playing
when i cleard it i had 160/337

you should try that rom
Try JVP or JVQ
I have tried about 8-10 roms on my Epic since I got it when it came out. My favorite roms hands down have been ACS Syndicate Frozen 1.1 & 1.2. Accompanied by TwilightZone 1.1.1 Kernel, Frozen 1.1 had better reliability for me, but 1.2 performs the best with a random glitch here and there. I have tried to go to EH17, EG22, and lately EI22, but I get frustrated with them and always window up going back to SRF 1.2.
I have spent the past two days trying out the ERA EI22 rom. Nice fast rom, but I found myself missing Launcher Plus from SRF 1.2 and my battery life wasn't as good. I also was unable to send MMS messages (maybe cuz I stayed with EC05 modem?). The excessive use of overscroll glow (like even during horizontal scrolling when viewing a webpage in the browser) and animations didn't please me either.
Anyway, the problem is I really want to make the move to Gingerbread, but I keep finding myself going back to SRF 1.2 because its simply the ****. Is it just to early on for me to jump on the Gingerbread bandwagon if I want SRF1.2 features and reliability? What are all you SRF 1.2 fans doing? If you have taken a liking to a specific Gingerbread rom and deem it a suitable SRF 1.2 replacement, please share your opinion!
Thanks.
Also,
Is Launcher Plus compatible with any rom, or does it have to be pre-installed by a dev?
Silly question, but what are the significant changes/benefits from going from Froyo EC05 to Gingerbread EI22 anyways?
I still haven't made the jump to EI22. Been on SRF for a long time, except have switched to RandomROM Phoenix for a bit. It seems like there are still a few bugs in each of the EI22 custom roms, but I'm looking forward to trying CompKid's next release, as well as RandomROM Thunderhawk for EI22. Just gonna wait a few more day till the devs get all the kinks ironed out. SRF 1.3 is apparently a EC05 based ROM that may or may not see the light of day. Not sure when they'll make SRF for Gingerbread.
Launcher Pro is compatible with anything. You can download it from the market, clear the defaults under settings>applications for whatever launcher you were using. Then when you hit the home key it'll ask you what launcher you want to use and you can tell it to remember that choice to make Launcher Pro the default.
Cool thanks for that Launcher Pro info!
I've been using SRF for a long time. My only reason for trying a switch was something happened to the file system where I kept getting google framework fc's almost anytime i touched the screen. wiped and reflashed my trusty SRF 1.2, but one I restored my nandroid backup, problem came right back. I figured if I had to go thru a titanium backup restore, or no restore at all and start from scratch, I might as well try gbread.
This morning I updated to ACS recovery from CWM purple, and also installed a fresh SRF 1.2 and restored via titanium backup and all is good now!
I am as big a fan as anyone of ACS SRF 1.2, but since going to EI22 ERA am not looking back. GB is much smoother, my battery life is already better and my phone seems to work as it was intended. Miss my Zeam launcher, but also thought it was a source of my problems with 1.2. Miss my Emotionless Beast theme, but CRT animations make up for it. What GB needs is a working wireless Hotspot app (back to ad hoc wireless tether), and a rotation lag fix.
Go with thunderhawk ei22. I love my frozen 1.2 as much as anyone, but I don't think you will be disappointed in this rom. Great job as always Random!

There have been many ROMs that tempted me to move from SRF 1.2, but nothing seemed like a daily driver. I'm on the second day of ACS ICS EI22 and it's looking good so far. I did have to update the theme to fix an issue with the sub-menus, but the ROM is fast and everything works well.
For some reason trying to restore from my Titanium backup broke my contacts app. I had to re-flash and now I'm running from a clean install. There wasn't much that could tempt me away from SRF 1.2, but ACS ICS did it and I'm enjoying it so far.

no offense but we've all been seeing this and rumors about 1.3 for months. The rumors aren't even details about the rom its usually just "I've been testing it and its great". I've been looking forward to it but with all this wait and buildup... I don't see it living up to the hype.

I've been playing with the ACS-ICS Gingerbread rom for the past few days, and with the latest release V3.5, have to say that I think it will become my daily driver now with the SRF 1.2 as a close second fallback.

Same here, it's been great to me so far and LauncherPro has been my launcher of choice so I'm glad they baked it in.
this is my girlfriends phone, it's currently rooted and rom:do, running 2.2 with Bali 1.8 kernel.
Lately she has been complaining about everything being slow and esp her phone book, messaging app and other stuff just closing on its own when she is in it.
No force closes just closes like she backed out.
I went ahead and flashed the new touch wiz 4.0 just to see if it helped. It did for a short time, then the problem returned, I tried a different launcher, same problem.
I'm unsure what else to do or where to look as I've done everything I could think of, even remove apps and other things.
She has all her work information and stuff on there so she is anti wipe.
Can anyone think if what could be causing these issues?

just back everything up and reflash a 2.2 rom. try project v. it works perfect.

You can try booting into recovery and wiping cache and dalvik and then do a fix permissions just for kicks and it should clear up some lag and spontaneous closes.
Thanks, I'll try the dalvik and cache wipe with fix permissions first.
To be honest I'm not new to Android and find myself pretty advanced with this stuff from the evo, to the epic and now the nexus and I've never had any issues like this, but then again when I had any problems i just would wipe down the phone and start fresh. I'll post back and see if that helps.
Thanks all

Is she maybe Undervolted? Might want to try another kernel. Maybe Bali X 1.2 which will allow for and OC to **guess* 1.2. Other than that, I would say to pull everything off and put on PC and either reflash her ROM or put a new one on there.
If you are going to maintain it for her, then ICS-Passion is a good option. If not and she just wants a basic 2.2 that works, there is Bionix, Toxic8, Deranged9 and Fishman's Bionix (redux) which are all quality ROMs with great battery life.

That's what I was going to say. Did you recently flash the kernel? Just like the GPS, each Vibrant seems to react differently to different kernels. Myself, I cannot UV. Causes all sorts of wonkiness.
Thanks for the replies everyone.
i just cant get why this is happening, the phone was being super laggy, i rebooted it. right away on start up twlauncher force close, then it was laggy as hell.
i went ahead and started messing with govenors and it seemed to stop being laggy.
i went ahead and flashed Bali X from regular bali and overclocked it and went to ondemand.
then the phone kept getting the sleep of death and never would wake up, so i just went and flashed overstock kernel, and im leaving it ondemand for now.
i dont think these kernels are undervolted, but i always figured as for my nexus a too low of undervolt would cause a random reboot, not slow sluggyness.
im basically at the point of flashing a new rom, but trying to save the way everything is.
Hey sorry I forgot to tell you Bali X does not play well with on-demand. Set it to conservative or performance. Also if running profiles then no Screen Off. These cause sleep of death. My bad.

Hey, I had a serious issue with my Vibrant as well. I am on CM7, but this really helped. I'm too new to post links (lame), but google this "Problems with /datadata? Causing force closes for Google apps". Go to the Rootwiki page and read the thread. It should help.
I did this and thus far only a few FC every now and then, but easily cured through a "fix permissions" in recovery.
If you can't fix it I second the post saying to flash a different rom. Project v was pretty stable if I remember correctly. Also the new version of bionix 1.3.1 is supposed to be pretty stable too. And GPS!
Vibrant + ICS
Problems have returned, and it doesn't matter what rom i flash, same problems happen, things auto close without force close notices, doesn't matter what launcher i use or what rom or kernel, it's time for a full wipe.
