Hello all, first post here.
I just bought an HD2 from eBay and it's in immaculate condition. I checked the HSPL and it was 1.66 Cotulla. Along with the phone came a 2GB SD card, to which I put darkstones FroyoStone 2.2 with Sense; and it has been working perfectly with no issues (except battery lasts about 12 hours with average usage).
However I want to install and test other builds on my 8GB SDHC which I have lying around. I have formatted this many times to GUID/MacFS, ext3 and FAT32 over it's lifespan.
When I tried to boot Android on my Omnia i900, I had an error with the SD Card and it never loaded; now when I boot the same or different Android ROMs on the HD2, they never boot. Even the exact ROM I have working on a 2GB SD card that I am using as a daily is not working on this card.
Could anybody help me with this issue?
sounds like the sdcard may have died from all the formats/flash's...
do you have a partition manager program etc that can check the card its self? most linex based partition programs will tell you if you have dead blocks.
personaly if im takeing a card thats had all sorts of partitions thrown at it, i format it, wipe it, then do a 0 wipe, this usualy fix's it.
Can I do this using the OSX Disk Utility to 'Zero Out' all the data or should I boot into Ubuntu and somehow get gParted working?
Thanks
i have no experiance with osx, but yes, gparted will usualy do the trick.
disk utility worked, thanks for the help. saves me buying a new card
good to hear! its amazing how much faster things run on a clean card...
format people!
I have question that goes with this one....I am running core series V4.1 it has the andriod boot on the windows side and I used one andriod build in this mode , but when I try others it seems it does want to go? What could be the issue?
Seems I just booted up Evo Core series on my phone, WOW i may never back to windows

Had the same issue, Kinston class 4 , 4 GB card that just wont run Android on my HD2... Then I took a 1GB class 2 SD card that came with my HTC Touch (ELF) and it runs like a charm!!! Runing darkstones superRAM Froyo build and its BLAZING FAST! People do tend to have issues with Kinston class 4 SD cards for some weird reason, so imma gonna buy myself a 8 gig class 2 noname card and post here if I have any issues...
Greetings to whoever is reading this!
I am not a big poster but.. i really can't find a solution for this one.
I searched around the forums but i was not able to find something quite like it, maybe i overlooked something but anyway, here goes:
I recently got myself a 16GB class 6 Silicon Power microSD card. The problem i am having with this card is that whenever i try to boot into Android either from NAND or SD something rather bad happens. With NAND the boot is successful, however, after the phone is fully booted it starts to lag and is having trouble resuming from sleep (either takes an eternity to conjure up the lock screen or simply stays black) and so on.
On SD builds the story is a tad different (i've tried both MAGLDR and WinMo). On some builds Leo manages to boot initially and everything seems to work, no lag and so on, however, when i do one, in some cases more restart(s) then the phone ends up in a boot loop.
I have tried all the same ROMs with the same settings on other memory cards: a class 6 8GB and various 2gb cards with no problems.
Another fact that might be interesting is that the card has no problems working with WinMo 6.5 nor WP 7. Both boot and work fine even after several restarts. Also, i tried the card in my camera and it did not have any problems either.
So far i have tried:
Formatting the card
- using Windows (tried all possible cluster sizes and so on)
- using SD Formatter 3 (both quick and normal format)
- using EASEUS Partition manager
- using WinMo 6.5
- using Android
- i think i also tried something in CWM but don't remember exactly what i did.
Cloned my 8GB SD to the 16 GB card making it look as if it was 8GBs and had it's properties using EASEUS Partition Manager.
and also tied flashing a couple of different Radios but i don't think they had an effect...
I'm running Leo 512
HSPL 2.08
Radio: 2.14.50.04
Well, i think i mentioned everything.. if anyone has any advice, please post
If i remember anything else i'll edit
Thanks in advance!
Is a 16g card to big for the nook? On most dl's I see 2g, 4g, 8g, etc but no 16g.
No. 16GB is not too big.
The NC maxxes out at 32GB.

Is our CM7 also running off the card? (noobie question). I recently placed the CM7 on a Sandisk card, 16m, Class2 and all my MP4 videos are choppy or out of sync. I've tried several video players.
A related question: Is the SD image of CM7 the same as the stable version of the EMMC version since the video is reported to be working great in that version.

I' only loading movie files from the 32G uSD. Running CM7 from eMMC. I did run CM7 from a uSD a while ago on a Transend 8G Class 6 which the consensus seems to be the card to use. Class 6 seems to be the "sweet spot". Others have run Class 10s with very mixed results. Lower class ditto.
As far as the version of CM....I don't believe so. The stable signed is 7.0 (7.02) and have not personally seen a uSD version but I could be wrong.
(Edit): Try using VitalPlayer. My sotware of choice.

The "class" of an sdcard measures the sequential read/write speed. The deciding factor for how well an sdcard would run a rom seems to be something else: the small block random read/write speed (which does not seem to be listed on the package); see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1005633&page=2
for an interesting discussion & data (esp OP and post #19). Speaking for myself, I had a great deal of troubles running nookie froyo on two class 6 cards, but I had no problem using a cheap class 2 sandisk. You guess it: the sandisk's small block r/w speeds is almost 10 ten that of the two class 6. Right now I'm running CM7.02 on a class 4 sandisk and it's running great.
YMMV.
Updating the SD Card
I had used the image from Verygreen's link which is 7.0.0-RC2 but re-reading his original post it appears I can just copy the latest build from
"mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=encore"
and copy into the first partition then reboot in recovery.
Can someone comfirm this will still work? I'm having issues with choppy video and terrible battery life - though I realize the battery life is much less than stock. The stable version, 7.0.2 was suppose to address many issues and from reports is running great.
Thanks!

This will work.
I have a 16 GB card and I'm glad to hear it will work. However, which image should I use? Why isn't there a dedicated image for the 16 GB size? Will I only be able to use half my card?

Sounds great - Thanks. I realized that I could just make my own image using Winimage of my current working CM7 SD install and use it to re-flash if things messup. ( slaps head, duh). I am confused about this from Verygreen's post:
OC Kernel installation instructions:
After you have a running CM7 by doing the steps above.
Get CM7 OC kernel from Dalingrin's thread. Unpack the zip file, the result should be a file with the name "kernel" and some other stuff. Rename the kernel file to uImage.
Shutdown your nook and take the uSD card out (make sure the nook is not plugged into USB bus or it'll boot into eMMC then).
Plug the SD Card into the computer, copy uImage file you just created to the first partition (the partition name would be "boot") instead of the existing file with this name (might want to save the original file just in case).
Now you are ready to go again.
You'll need to repeat these steps every time you upgrade to a new nightly build, because they carry their own kernels with them.
Is this still necesssary? The first section instructs to place the newest build .zip image on the 1st partition and recovery boot - the install works like the original install. Also do I need to also re-install Gaaps?
Thanks - I searched Verygreen's long thread but could not find the answer or a link to Dalingrin's thread.
EDIT: Nevermind - I'm learning... so the Kernel is the basic element that is found in the image file. Different beast than placing the .zip image on the sdcard.
10 char doublepost
I am not sure about the size of the card, but what matters more IMHO are the real-world sequential read and write speeds. I purchased a 4GB Class 10 Patriot uSD card and loaded CM7 per Evergreen's instructions. The performance is TERRIBLE, slow and market d/l is extremely slow as well. I attribute this to Patriot misrepresenting the sequential write speeds of the card. I would go with Sandisk Class 4 uSD or Transcend Class 6 uSD (on order) as well as other Brand uSD cards reported by XDA users to run CM7 well on NC.
It works great
Flashed the latest CM7 7.0.2 to my Sandisk 16g, Class 2. Movies play great with several different players. Still want a better class sd card and will use suggestions found in this forum. I swear, is it more fun to see movies play great on my nook or just trying different "hacks". Love this forum.
Thanks to all those who help us newbies.
I bought a 16GB Sandisk (class 4) card today to replace a Transcend 8GB class 6 -- unlike the Transcend, which I had *maybe* 1-2 Fcs total in the 3 days I've had it running, I've been getting errors and FCs not infrequently with the new card
I even tried wiping it and installing fresh downloads of CM7 and gapps to see if that was the problem.
Could it be I just had the bad luck to get a not-so-good Sandisk card?
I'm running the CM7 (stable) install w/ multi-boot menu, only OC'ing to 925mhz via Cyanogenmod settings for both cards. No launcher mod, just a bunch of game apps, moboplayer, quickpic (same set of apps on both cards). Can't figure out why I'm getting random FCs otherwise in the Sandisk card...any ideas?
------ updated : -------
Ran diagnostics on card, everything (including physical surface check) came back clear. r/w scores were OK (a bit low on the r/w 4ks) but nothing terrible.
When I used a different installer all my FC issues dissapeared. The one I had been using (and still have on my Transcend 8GB card) is the 2GB (extendable 4th partition) + multiboot install. It runs flawlessly on the 8GB card but for some reason caused my 16GB install to crash a lot (FCs and error messages).
When I installed verygreen's agnostic SD card version, the issues I was having on 16GB disappeared. Running very smoothly @ 925Mhz CM7 OC. I've thrown a bunch of movies at it and it looks great, no chop. So YMMV.

There is... I put this together and uploaded when there were so many issues with 16GB cards not being formatted.....
Get 16 GB VeryGreen's generic card (preformatted) here
Isn't the point of verygreen's size-agnostic image that you can install it on any size card? I used it on a Sandisk unclassed (so, 2) 16GB from Radioshack, and CM7.0.2 is running great--much smoother than stock 1.2 on the eMMC.

As others have said, it's not the sequential r/w but the small-block, random r/w that counts for running an OS, and class ignores this benchmark entirely. Your Patriot was very likely performing exactly as advertised, but what it's advertising is how well it will perform in a 10+megapixel DSLR camera taking rapid-fire photos or a half-hour video. It gains that performance at the expense of small-block r/w, sometimes gaining 5-10x the sequential r/w by sacrificing 100x or greater the small-block speed.

Yes, but there are several posts regarding issues with the mke2fs failing on 16GB cards.... that is why I made the 16 GB version available....
I tried with 3 different 16 GB cards that would fail... so I presented my solution for 16 GB cards.
I was having problems with the 2GB expandable install on my 16GB card (ok on my 8GB). Just wiped and installed verygreen's agnostic and so far no FCs or oddities that I've noticed; if I start having issues I'll try yours thanks for posting it!
CM7 on 16 GB Kingston...slow as molasses!
I finally got everything copied, imaged, written, etc. It's working...except being able to access the SD card to move all my stuff onto it...but SLOW!
Should I just chalk it up to the card or are there other settings or things to check? I was a bit overwhelmed by the CM7 settings/options...lot of things there...
Thanks
On my HTC HD2 (T-Mobile LEO) I have been working with several releases of WM7 trying to get to Mango. I was able to get HSPL to 2.08 and the radio to 2.15. I loaded build 7592 and got it fully configured. Everything was great (except if the battery died everything erased and I was forced to reload..never figured what I was missing on that one) but the real problem came when I tried to run the 7720 update. My SanDisk Class 2 16GB card was encrypted in the process and when the phone booted back up after running the RCTtoRTM I got an error that the card had "been changed or wasn't compliant" and the card was useless at that point. I cannot reflash the phone back to a non-encrypted WM7 version because the card is now not usable and I cannot find a tool to de-crypt or format the card over. So now I have a phone that cannot be flashed to Mango, and a 16GB plus a 32GB card that are both Encrypted and unusable. Where do I go from here? I even tried to just reverse everything and get back to stock ROM but witht he Hard SPL I cannot do that (not easily from what I understand).
Help!
If I am posting in the wrong place please don't shoot me, this is my first ever post.
you must upgrade without card if card not compatible (not recognize after mango upgrade)
make hard reset (settings - about - reset)
dont boot to WP7
take out card
turn on phone and upgrade to 7392
again do hard reset (settings - about - reset)
insert card and now upgrade to 7720
this is old trick, dont know who posted first but i salute to him
also you have posts how to unlock card

Definitely seems that a new SD card may solve your problems, especially if you had problems with XBmod's NODO rom as well. But beware, as even "confirmed-working" cards may not work with WP7. I would think hard before splashing out £££ on a 32Gb class4 for a 2 year old phone, which may or may not work

Ah yes, forgot to mention that....I am running aMAGLDR v1.13.
So I had the two cards that are locked, my 16GB SanDisk class 2 and a brand new PNY Class 4 32GB. In my efforts to get to Build 7720 I went ahead and just returned the 32GB PNY back to the retail store I bought it at and gave them a little white lie about the reason why the card isn't working..... so they gave me a new card and now I am trying to get the process going again. Build 7592 doesn't want to see any updates to get me to the 7392 build which is where I need to be to get the Mango process started. I looked for a manual way to load 7392 but all I could find was instructions on how to use Zune to do it. And that is getting me no where! I am still working on creating the Linux boot CD to get my 16GB card back though.
I inserted a freshly formated SD card into my hd2 enter magdlr enable& cleared enter USB flasher installed v2 native rom left it on welcome page then installed 7004-7392 via cab sender .phone started set up date and time.sent deviceprovisioning.cab succes open Zune update available to 7403 success checking for updates 7720 available keep getting errors ..thats where I'm at..no hard resets or tricks applied it was that simple took About 40min..
PNY 32GB Class 4 SD card, SanDisk 8GB Class 2 SD Card, SanDisk 16GB Class 2 SD Card. All three are toast now. The KillDisk solution doesn't work for me. Every one of these that gets encrypted and then says it won't work when the phone boots I then run through the KillDisk process and it says its got 3.74GB of space to format and thats it. I cannot get any of them to work, they all break on the first reboot after the 7720 update. Today I spent 12 hours solid working on this. I am pretty much about to give up. Its 2:00am and I am beat. Thanks to all who tried to provide help, but most of the info I got was only 1/2 info.....broken English or missing key points on how to get a particular build loaded first so the rest of the process can complete.
Sorry for the "down" attitude......I am really bummed. Going to go crash now.
I am in the same boat as where I started, can't get back to Stock ROM, I keep getting errors that the SD card is not recognized. Only now I don't have an SD left to boot with....they are all jacked up. Guess that means a quiet weekend!!! LOL..sigh.

go ask any of your friends if they have Nokia phone, and use theirs to format. tested&working 100%. Nokias are even smart enough to display warning about SD being locked with pin, and only way to unlock is format (because code is generated randomly and preserved only in WP7 data storage)
i retrieved my Kingston SDHC 8gb class 4 that way-and yes it doesn't work well with wp7
now i'm asking you guys, if there is any SD card with 100% success rate on wp7... i'm looking for something cheap (4-8gb, being a college student), and i know about sandisk being most compatible, but some say it did not work for them

With my sd card, i have 2gb EXT4 and 30 gb FAT32, this may be the cause of this issue.
I've tried to return to : - [Nov. 18, 2012][ROM][720p] NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.8 [NativeSD]
But the same problem appears, the phone freezes and then the SOD.
Hope someone will help us.
Hi all!
I just tried to upgrade my LEO512 to the same roms already discussed... and I have the same SOD!
HTC LEO 512 (FR)
magldr1.13
4ext recovery 2.2.7 rc5
cwm 4.0.0
100% nativeSD on a Class 10 16Gb Sandisk (bicolor) with 2Gb EXT4 and 12Gb FAT32
I already tried:
- interactiveX instead of smartassv2
- check and repair filesystems
- 384 instead of 245 minimum frequency
- ext3 instead of ext4
- fix permissions
- check partitions alignement
sdcard was partitionned with primary partitions on windows with minitool partition wizard 7
thanks for ideas...
Replace the SD Card
I replace the 16gb class 6 with 8gb class 6 and it boot

why would I replace a brand new class10 card that I received yesterday for the purpose of flashing my HD2 in nativesd mode?
i don't have any other sd cards (unless the slow sandisk 2Gb given with the hd2)
I've flashed from the start: task29+magldr+cwm
I've installed tytung's jb rom 1.3a in nand (285Mb) with [email protected] (1Gb) on my 2Gb sandisk SD (class2?) and now i've low memory messages with no space for text messages...
and i have internal memory at 0Mb, reported in the storage screen
and just to confirm: the phone is slow on nand...
Try reinstalling with a system partition of 290mbb

Sometimes you can fix this issue by overclocking:
Set the minimal CPU speed 1 click higher.
Just tryin' overclocking my phone, i will just let you know if the same issue appears !
Hi, thanks for the interest folks!

Are you sure we have these kind of parameters when you install in nativesd way?
I juste tried on nand and it works with a system partition of 285, but my issues are when using nativesd.
in fact I may have to find an old class 4 or 6 to do the job but i'm afraid of the performance then...

i've already tried this by stteing the minimal speed to 384 without effect.
thanks for the idea
290mb is only a suggestion for nand install.
For nativesd sandisk class 4 will out perform class 10. I use class 4 and it seems as fast as nand!
Lots of fake sdcard out there make sure its the real thing your buying.

If you really want to know why you can follow the sd link in my signature.
Briefly, because that is not a Class 10 card - if red & grey it is a UHS I card, Class 10 equivalent. The HD2 cannot supply the voltage required for a UHS card. Even if it was a true Class 10 card, Android uses random access, unlike video, which is sequential.
Make sense?

yes that's why I ordered a samsung 8gb class6 microsdhc, hoping it'll solve my SOD problems and give me enough performance to use the HD2 flowlessly
regards guys
So, while wainting for my class 6 8Gb sd card, I've installed the CM10.1 on the nand w/ data on ext4, with my old sandisk 2gb sd.
the phone keeps resetting to defaults (apps lost, configuration lost,...) at each reboot, while consumnig power as fast as a drunk drinks a beer in front of a delicious babe (and it's amaingly hot!)
I'm thinking to go back to GB...
Hi,
Just try to install Pacman on NAND, for me it works and it gives you a lot of space for your apps. I just let down Nativesd for now.
Trying that later .

friend, try every roms and find the most suitable and easy to use one for yourself. because every roms have a life time. you install apps and unistall them. again and again. and your system gets fat with garbage files. and it need to re-install.
i change my rom atleast every week
Hi there,
Well I guess I have found the troublemaker, who causes the immense ammount of SODs on my HD2.
I was using an SanDisk Ultra micro sdhc 32GB (dual color) Class10 card. After I replaced the SanDisk with an Transcend Class6 Card the SODs seemed to be gone for now.
Greetings.
Hi there!
I received my Samsung Class 6 8Gb microsdhc and installed the JB 1.3a version on nativesd and everything seems to be stable at last...
Had to wipe twice and reinstall twice to get a stable result.
Yet the 3G/Data connections seems to drop and I have to go plane-mode and back or to reboot so it comes back.
Regards
