tried your idea now ,, didnt work.
I've had the same problem with the latest roms released this week, so I'm assuming it MIGHT have to do with th kernel that they have in common). When it gets stuck on 2nd boot, I simply pull out battery and try again. From then on I don't have this problem anymore each time I boot using clrcad and haret. I'm not bothered to change kernel and the latest seems to be best, thanks to the dev's hard work.

Have you tried another build? I am on revolution 1.7 with s7.1 kernel, I have the second boot issue, I just pull battery out, reboot and there I am, no more issues.
You can't boot HD so try revolution.
I also use exceller to autoboot under 3 seconds.

thank you , i shall try that again,, do you have a link to 1.7 revolution ?
Are you using one of those Class 6 or Class 4 MicroSDHC cards?
If so, replace it with a Class 2 Sandisk or a Class 2 Kingston MicroSDHC card.
In order to achieve Class 6 or higher standards for MicroSDHC cards, some manufacturers uses tweaking, which saves cost in making a "real" class 6 media card. These tweaks causes different problems in different devices. Tweaks may include increasing sequential read speed, but will cause random reads/writes to not be stable.
Which is probably a reason why Microsoft Phone 7 won't allow you to use your own MicroSDHC except the one they approve, and they are still working on the list.

You can also try the following:
1. Download the Android build once again
2. Backup your SD card to your desktop PC
3. Delete the Android folder from the backup just made
4. Reformat your SD card
5. Restore your backup to the SD card
6. Extract your Android build to the SD card
7. Boot Android
had the same Problems with the older kernel and the newest radio..using mdeejay, too.
I changed the radio to 2.12.50.02_2 and set up the newest hastarin kernel together with the titanium Energy Rom and now it works out perfektly
@ OP, this should be in the general section.
I had same problem before. Try to run a check disk thru windows under the removable drive tools. Also have it check for bad sectors.

Did you format, within phone, to FAT32? It looks as though you have experience with builds so I'm sure that you are installing the Android folder on the root of the SD card...make sure that you don't create a folder and then add the build folder to the root folder; it creates a sub and that causes problems.

No build start. i waitted 2 hour's for data.img to be created but no succes. i tried with version copy pasted from my old card who works, still nothing. i don't know what else to do .

It might be as simple as the "Serioux" card isn't supported; the only other thing that I know off the top of my head is at the bottom of my thread; I had found a link to the formatting issue and that's where I came up with the idea of formatting within WinMo.

I know that it does take some builds to load as it creates the data.img, especially a larger one; if you opted for the 1gb for instance.
You are using the same build as the other card? And, you loaded the file the same way? Did you do it through USB connect?

I think it might be the card. I know that I've seen class 2 and 4 around working; your "Serioux" card is the only one that I can find, as far as brand, and nothing about it working or not working on HD2, maybe return it and get another brand?
It's definately the card. I bought a wintec class 10 16gb and android wont run hardley at all on it, went and bought a 16gb sandisk class 2 at radioshack and android runs flawless on it. The shame is that the sandisk class 2 tests at class 10 speeds. They have it on Newegg for $34, Get model # SDSDQ-016G-A11M. There are two versions on newegg so make sure you order the right one. You won't be disappointed.
thank u all for support. i will try to get another brand. in this time maybe android will boot from nand

I'm making this thread here because I can't see anything being done to remedy this problem.
I have tried more than 5 roms that I have used in the past in SD era with MAGLDR 1.12 in the option "AD SD" and none worked. This SHOULD be easy, but it's not.
I have tried to change kernels for the new ones, thinking this would be the right way to do so, since the old ones expected haret and windows to work. This didn't work too.
To name a few...
NexusHD2-FRG83D V1.8 from Tytung (the best in the old days for a clean froyo, IMHO)
MDJ Desire HD 4.6
Topia HD and others...
None of them worked, the ONLY ONE that worked was [DL DesireZ v2.1][SD/NAND] (note, not tested version 2.2, ONLY 2.1)
It took a looong time to boot, but worked fine.
Now that we have WP7 (not everyone will want this permanently) we should have SD roms that are compatible with MAGLDR. Even because MAGLDR is way faster than waiting for WM 6.5 to boot.
I loved WM 6.5 in the days, but now, several of us don't want to deal with it anymore, and are just here for the two new OSs.
I would like to see some development in the SD ROMs again, so they can have newer and better kernels (the ones used with MAGLDR) and full compatibility with future development for MAGLDR and NAND.
We could even have two Android builds, for those who don't want WP7.
One for NAND and one for SD, like a Gingerbread and a stabler Froyo
Anyone agree with it?
Greetings, Santroph.

Problem:
Phone7 formats the sd card in an unknown file format.
That makes it presumably impossible to linux to load from there...
You would have to switch sd card
I agree with the suggestion of having dual boot (WP7/Android), in fact I even thought about it yesterday ...
What about having 3 partitions on SD ? 2 for WP7 and 1 for Android ...

Yeah I know about this, but several of us, myself included have several SD cards.
I can pass for the trouble of changing SD cards from time to time to boot a completly different OS, with several other possibilities.
And I was talking about Android NAND / Android SD combinations as well.
Like I said we could have a Gingerbread experimental in nand, but keep a really stable Froyo in SD as our main build, or the other way around, a lot of us have big enough cards to do that.
Santroph.
I'm tested lot android SD too.
PSfreedom worked only but if the DL DesireZ v2.1 is working..what's the problem?

The problem is that we only have a few SD roms working. And for example DL DesireZ v2.1 works, but DL DesireZ v2.2, which is newer and just lauched, doesn't work, the support is gone
And we don't have as much roms as we had to choose in the past. I am trying to use WP7, to see if it is a viable alternative to my daily use, but I don't want to give up Android. Since we can't have WP7 and AD Nand at the same time, SD is the only alternative, and we have to get whatever is working instead of a lot of good builds like we have in Nand now.
If the devs start to make more sd builds closer to the Nand ones (same kernels and modules, which they can do now, since they will all be using the same hardware startup MAGLDR) we would have a lot of alternatives too.
Like I said, one of the best roms we ever had, tytung NexusHD2 froyo, doesn't work.
Santroph.
P.S: I'm willing to help any dev that need help. I'm a developer too, but a software one, not a cooker
I'm not a dev but I try to get it ...I took 4GB sd and booted wp7, connect sd via usb reader to pc, copied the wp7 filesystem to my 16gb sd card...wp7 says I got 3.5GB disk space ^^...means: wp7 uses 3.5GB, 11,5GB free sd space . formatted other partition as fat32, but windows7 didn't find it. Now I'm trying around to get it working ...will post news

I succeed to flash WP7 rom without SD card inserted. Inserting back the SD card after installation shows that SD storge with full size(not under WP7) and SD android rom (DL DesireZ v2.1) works fine with MAGLDR 1.12. Booting WP7 again will not destroy it, too. This may be a temporary method, while the free space left in WP7 becomes around 130MB which may not satisfy many demands .

Can you please make a kind of Tutorial?
I understood what you said, and I can probably replicate it (surely will try) but some people would be really glad to have a tutorial.
I have a single problem with your approach, my biggest card, the 16gb one, was the one used for WP7, so I will have to reformat, and since I already got my WP7 working with marketplace and activated, I don't want to mess with it.
If I only had used the 8gb or 2gb card, I would be able to do it....
Santroph.
The best way to know how to do this, would be to have a HD2 that has not a fully working copy of WP7, so we can test it as much as we can.
The biggest problem for me now, is that I don't have how to make a backup of my WP7 installation, or else I would do it and make a tutorial on how to use the dual boot.
Even with the option of using only one card, the SD rom version must be compatible, which in the present time, they are not (most of them).
Santroph.
i've readed all of thread.. but yet i don't understand if it works or not.. especially with ike2903 tutorial to format SD card method...

the pc actually read the WP7 parition (or recognized that one existed)?
EDIT: It does seem (beyond reasonable doubt) that the Kingston 16GB is at fault here. It has been reported by other users too. I've tried about 3 different NAND (data2sd) roms on the Kingston and they all took very, very long on first boot (minimum 30 mins). There was also an awful lag on all three ROMS.
Tried the the same ROMs with my standard SanDisk 2GB that came with the HD2 (anyone know what class it is? 2?) Anyway, with this card, all ROMS took about 5 mins on first boot and no lag whatsoever.
Currently looking for another card; Kingston is going straight back! Any suggestions, an Sandisk 8GB @ class4/6 perhaps?
I have two HD2s. One I used to test a NAND install with san disk 2gb sd and that works fine.
So I thought I'd buy a Kingston 16GB class 4 for my main HD2- performed exactly the same procedure as the first (everything but the card is the same) but the phone keeps getting stuck at the green HTC logo.
A non-ext4onSD/data2sd ROM seems to run fine though.
I have partitioned the card with standard sizes, 1024 ext (tried 3 and 4). Used Clockwork and Gparted but both result in the same thing.
Is it a case that this card simply doesn't work. How can I 'clean' the NAND memory and start over (if that would even help)?
Thanks.

The longest time was 40 minutes.
It was relatively quick on my first HD2 and that is still working fine.
I think I need to 'wipe' the NAND somehow as when trying a 2gb san disk it still hangs at the HTC logo.

Hi there
So I'm reading for a while the topics about android on SD Card, but I couldn't fix some issues and I hope you'll get me out:
1) Can I use the original ROM from my HD2 and install Android on a SD Card
2) Is there a possibility to install Android on the SD Card and get a boot loader where I can choose between a WinMo boot and an Android boot or do I have to boot always WinMo 6.5 before booting Android?
3) I read that the speed with the SD Card Mode is slower than the other ways, how can I understand that? Do I have to wait longer during the boot of android or are there also speed problems while working with android?
4) Also on the speed problem: Which SD Card would you recommend for Android on SD? Are there any measurable speed differences between the CD Classes?
best regards

Yes you can install android on SD and use WM6.5. Its what most of us did back when you couldn't NAND boot android. There are several bootloaders around yes, however you always have to boot into windows in order to boot SD android. This means android SD boot time is much much longer than NAND, however this is not really that big of a problem. As with the speed problems with the ROM itself, well lets just say i much rather prefer NAND to SD, I used SD for a long time and NAND was something that made me very happy. I didnt really see a problem with SD builds however I simply felt more secure using NAND. Also, with an SD build the speed of the phone is dependent on your SD card class, most SD cards are class 2, mine is class 6 and my SD build worked fine however I have seen people saying its slower with a lower class card. I don't know whether its actually a real issue, like you need a class 4 card to run android properly however people sometimes complain. This however could simply be their ROM's/Phones being slow.
Does this version (FEB 14)[SD]MCCM HD V4.0 [DESIRE HD Sense] Perfect [kernel gauner1986's] work at anyobody with the original ROM ( 3.14.207.1 ) and 2.15.50.14 Radio ?
My actual version is the
[Dec 18][RAM] darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5 [kernel: Hastarin custom]
and it works.
The installation of the MCCM is exactly the same but it doesn't work.
When my device reboots there is the HTC logo on a white background and i have waited for an hour but nothing happend.

Sounds good. So what I don't understand: Booting Android from SD Card - does WinMo Shutdown or does it still run in the background? So is the full capacity of the CPU & RAM available or not?
I think a Class 6 16GB should be enough for that game. I actually like my original ROM and would like to try android just for fun, so I think the NAND Method wouldn’t be that, what I’m looking for.
Do I have to buy a card reader for my SD Card?
Any other experiences with Android on a SD Card?

My opinion about Android on a SD card is very positive.
My version is very stable.
Until now I hadn't problems with any bugs.
The browser is very fast, the camera good, the connection to WiFi is perfect and all games work
But it's clear that you have to charge your mobile often

Sounds good. So what I don't understand: Booting Android from SD Card - does WinMo Shutdown or does it still run in the background? So is the full capacity of the CPU & RAM available or not?

SD android also has a high battery drain, I dont know the exact figures but i think in standby sd builds are 5-10mA, where most NAND builds are 2-5. You wouldn't NEED to get a card reader, however it would be an extreme help. SD android is very good, however NAND is better for me because personally, android blows the socks off WM6.5, so I just decided to go all out. SD android runs on top of WM6.5 yes, however WM6.5 is shut down so you do get the full power of ram/cpu etc.
I love SD, partly because I love my build (Black&Blue Remix), and have been rock-solid on it since November. I keep trying other SD Builds, as well as NAND builds, but I'm so hapyp with my set-up I have no desire to change, at least until builds with updated Sense/GingerBread/Honeycomb come out
I've got the Extended Battery pack so maybe that sways my judgement.
But I have no qualms in recommending SD!

Thanks
To make this part clear: I can only download a Android ROM, put it on my SD Card, insert it in my HD2 and here we go? HSPL is only needed when I'm trying to flash android?

So the question to you is:
What do you understand under high battery drain? I recharge my phone every night, not depending if it's empty or not (does this have an influence on battery life btw?), so... does the battery last for 2-3 hours of surfing, emails ... on sd android ?
