[Q] WP7 on Telstra HD2? - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

A friend of mine recently sent me his HTC HD2. He's from Australia, he sent me the Telstra model (works with AT&T's 3G).
I managed to get Android on it and I installed MAGLDR (1.12). The radio I installed is 2.15.50.14 ...
I tried to install WP7 on it, but I failed. Is the WP7 ROM not compatible with the Telstra model? I tried searching around first, but I was unable to find a conclusive answer.
To install WP7 I set my phone to USB Flasher, then I open up DWI.exe... When I click next, at one point it says I can't continue and this is what it shows in status:
Code:
An error has occurred
Read below for more information
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1198)
Error Description: EnterBootloader missing
Info: .\RSPL\BootLoader.cpp (176)
Could anyone help me out? Is it just not compatible or am I doing something wrong? I tried Googling around, but I failed at finding a conclusive answer.
Thanks a lot for your time!

Running WP7 on my HTC HD2 Telstra version. Right click on DWI.exe and run as "Admintrator". If it still gives you a same error, create a new account name on your Windows, and make sure give a new account name a password. Then right click on DWI.exe and run as "the new account name" then enter the password. You should able to flash it now.

Thanks!
Although that didn't work; I re-downloaded the zip file, and re-extracted them, and it installed properly.
So, for anyone doing future searches:
You can install WP7 on the HD2, it works!

Question for you, do you get 3g on at&t with it?
I assume the rom dump is from the US HD7 on T-Mobile, which wouldnt have support for the at&t frequencies. Doesnt the rom enable the frequencies?

yes i do get 3g connection with at&t. 3G connection with Android and WP7.
Edit: Frequencies band is base on Hardware, NOT Software. I won't get 3g connection with T-Mobile HD2 even running rom dump from US HD7. Rom can't enable the frequencies.

Thanks for the answer.
Yes I know that the harware is where the specific antennas are found that enable the frequencies that the phone will recieve. But I thought there were some files on the rom that are also required in conjunction with the hardware.
For example, on the droid, some roms will not get any mobile network at all without first patching a couple of the system files in Android.
Thanks again.

I had to manually put in the at&t apn to get 3G if that's what you mean

Evryone trying to flash WP7 rom getting this error!
I found a way to bypass this error n get to wp7 easily.
Its simple-
in the folder Leo70_ROM- Copy customRuu.exe -
Execute it- it will create few files- (THESE ARE THE FILES WHICH ARE MISSING) den minimize customRuu.exe and run DWI as administrator and all will install smoothly without those errors as the missing files are now available!
CONFIRMED WORKING ON MY LEO 512-

Out of curiosity, which version of customruu.exe are you using in this fix? I'm using Leo CustomRUU, version 1.1.0.0, date modified 03/10/2010. It eliminates one error, but still left with USB init failed. Hmmm...
i had this error, but simple fix...right click on the DWI.exe, run as administrator............problem solved, ...on win vista PC
What happened to me was that for some reason not all of the files had been extracted so if you extract files again to same folder from the zip, it should work.

Hiho

same problem here
Same here
By the way Im ftrying it from previous Android ROM and had this
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1198)
I had a same problem. Trying exact it again in another place, install it again, it will be solved...
similar problem on my HD2
When I run the customRUU in LEO_70 I get two problems
1.
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1198)
(This is when I try to run the DWI app as administrator)
2.
In the Rom Utility Upgrade I get ERROR [240] : File Open
- - - - - -
I had before downloading CustomRUU, tried to use RUU directly from MAGLDR112 and all that was doing was seeking USB, finding it but not loading anything and remaining at 0%.
What have I missed, any help is greatly appreciated..
Edit:
AHHHHH I think I get it now, [perhaps], the question I should be asking is...
Is it possible to install Windows 7 on my HTC HD2 6.5 which has the following specs
SPL-3.03.0000 XE
ROM version - 3.14.405.2 (04666) WWE
the reason i got this error was because the folder (LEO70_ROM) didnt have two files: rapidtool.exe and enterbootloader.exe, all it had was DWI.exe and the data.zip. i downloaded from a differenty link and once i had all the files in the folder it worked
Could I ask what SPL and ROM versions your phone had when you were installing the DWI?
Thanks..
I had this problem with windows xp, my solution was to disable the usb connection on activesync and had not have the error since, i read it somewhere on of the other forums here. so credits is to them.
Just wanted to chime in that this fixed my problem on Windows 7 that was frustrating me all night long!
HSPL 2.08
Radio 2.08 (I think - not too familiar with HD2 numbering, coming from galaxy S)

Thank you. I had this problem, tried the above, worked first time.
Same problem
I am having the same issue trying to install win 7 from stock 6.5
Installed HSPL 2.08
I have all the files in the folder.
DWI, Data, Rapidtool, and bootloader.
I connect the phone, select active sync.
then run DWI, it reboots the phone into the bootloader, the phone says USB at the bottom, then thats it..
DWI gives
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1198)
Had the same thing happen to me 3 times. I've updated my phone twice and my girls once in the last couple of days. I got this error everytime on the first try... But I just left the phone plugged in and tried it again and it worked. I just figured I was over zealous and didn't wait long enough after I plugged it in.
I have noticed a couple of people not saying anything about magldr.
Order this needs to be installed.
1. HardSPL 2.08
2. Install magldr 1.13 or 1.12
3. Install wp7 via DWI.exe

HD2 WP7 to Mango problems - 1198 error

Hello all, I have a T-Mobile HD2 with WP7 on it. I tried using the Mango update from elfinazz but I get the following error when running DWI.EXE.
Error Description: USB init failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1198)
HD2 has been running WP7 very stable for months, with Live services activated. When I originally put WP7 on it I installed MAGLDR 1.12. Today when I got the above error, I flashed it to 1.13 with no problems, so I think there might be a communications problem with DWI.EXE. I have also tried it on a different computer with the same results. I even tried downloading CustomRUU.exe and ran that from the folder.
When I connect my HD2 to USB, the message in the white area changes from serial to USB, so the phone is seeing the USB connection, but the computer doesn't. Also, if I run DWI.EXE and don't connect the HD2 I get the exact same error.
I am running it in administrator mode. Allow USB connections in Mobile Device center was checked at first, then I unchecked it. I can't find specific steps for upgrading from the original WP7 release to Mango, so I assume I am missing a step. I have been trying to get this working for a couple of hours now with no luck, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Solution ..
Hi, I had the same problem, don't worry its so easy to solve it
Reinstall or install depends the case the Windows Mobile Device Center, the same one you used with WM6.5 and the problem will be solved, why ? because this problem its a driver problem, if you are using windows 7 you need the drivers of your mobile, and this drivers will be given in Windows Mobile Device Center once you installed connect the mobile, will start to recognize the phone and drivers and then try to flash again ....
I had same problem and solved by doing this
Look at me desperate LOL

800705B4 problem
When I run CABsender.bat or wCabSender, update of any CAB always fails due error 800705B4 : timeout/not enough space.
Computer sends CAB to the phone and then phone reboots. After reboot phone stays black for 30 secs, than it shows "connect USB" image and after that it reboots. WP7 says that update was unsuccessful, CAB sender reports error 800705B4.

I have 4GB SD card and phone recognizes it fine. I tried to reflash phone ROM without SD-card, CAB sending has same problem. Although most of the phone and live services work fine, many programs like "Leo advanced", "Program manager", "Connection setup" do not launch.
