i have mDeejay NAND rom and i want my apps to run on the SD card but i get an error when i launch the app and i have to force shutdown the app.
I move the apps to the SD card within settings/apps/manage apps. Dont know if thats wrong?
Apps works just fine when they are in the internal storage..
some apps just won't run in your sd card, you gotta read the detail of the app before download.

ok so coming from the G1 with apps2SD and moving apps from memory to SD was easy. Well i just went and installed a bunch of apps on my HD2 and suddenly got the "low on system storage" memory. i went into settings and tried to move apps to SD but wouldn't let me. Searched forums, and cant find an answer. How can i install android apps to the SD? it seems that if the android OS is on the SD card, wouldn't the apps naturally install there?! thanks for any help.
Yes, your android runs from the SD card. But your android does recognize the data.img in your folder as the system storage. That means if you have a build that creates a 1GB data.img, your storage is limited to 1GB.
How big is you data.img?
The option to install something on the SD isn't possible.

I'm also coming from a G1 with cyanogenmod using Apps2sd...
...is there any way that i can run my current apps from my sd card on the HD2?
or atleast copy them to the device?
Yes, if you have them in *.apk form.
You can create a folder on the SD card, I call it apps, and copy them there. Then use a file manager, I use Astro, to navigate the sd card and install them into Android. This way you don't have to keep reloading them from Market.
You can also put them into the Android Apps folder inside the Android folder and they will be installed on boot.
Cheers...
i download an app and move it to my sd card. i open es file explorer and install the app. ok the app is installed. but the app is installed in the phone memory, i dont want that coz its already low, so i go to manage apps and go to the app i just installed an the move to sd card is greyed out. this happens everytime i put a app or game on sd card and install it. whereas if i download something from market i have the option to move to sd card r it has been already installed to sd card.
im u usin hd2 using this rom:

any help coz the phone memory is going very low
There's various apps for handling moving stuff to the SD card, or defaulting to install there, but I personally use Titanium Backup because I use it for other stuff too. There's an option in batch options to move every non-system app to the SD card.
That's never failed for me.
Keep in mind though that some apps don't work once you've moved them to the SD card. It's a pain, but you have to move some of them back to the phone. You can do this using the method you described above. Once they're on the SD card, the option to move them says "move to phone" and is no longer disabled.
does anyone one know that why do some apps and games talking tom , angry birds etc only work in phone memory ??
When I move some of these apps or games to sd card , they give "force close" Error when opened.
Not all apps give this kind of error .. Some of the apps work perfectly when moved to SD card.
Any solution for this force close " Error ??
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
Some apps just don't like to work from SD. Solution, use a rom which supports an ext partition, which is also on the SD card, but is treated by android as being internal memory, and the apps work fine.
I followed these directions perfectly and the links2SD app is saying that all my subsequent apps are being "linked to SD card" after installation. However, my internal memory is filling up just the same way as without this app. Furhtermore, I don't see anything changing on my external SD card. Does this app not work on the S4? I've tried other solutions to move apps to SD card prior to this and none of them seemed to work either.
Samsung has built in apps to sd, just go into app manager and move over the apps that are allowed to be moved. Not all can be moved, but most of the big apps can. Its better than nothing.
Hi!
I see that some of the apps are in sd card (application manager -> sd card). But I didn't move thwm there.
1. How Android decides what apps where should be installed?
2. Are there any downsides installing apps to sd card? Except the fact that apps won't be available when sd card is removed.
3. Will progress of my games and settings of my apps will be saved in sd card after apps are reinstalled after factory reset?
Thanks!!
+1
1) by size. Don't know the exact but as an example if an app is bigger than 100mb then it is installed on the external sd.
2) The one you stated plus the fact that the internal memory is quite faster than the external card.
3) I think no. Except for apps that use an account or the internet for saves, you are gonna need an app like titanium backup to restore apps data.
