I'm working on the VCK over on the Vibrant forums. Read about it here.
I'm trying to gauge if there's interest for this on other Galaxy S phones.
What would happen is there would be a separate tab for this phone where I could add devs/categories to.
Devs would then build their lists and the program would automatically reflect the changes.
Why it might be useful: it's an extra way to get your product out there, and a good way to store all the mods/themes for your ROM in one place. The program has the ability to zip up APKs/files in its queue and make them a flashable zip, or it can just directly download files from a web server (for ROMs and other already-made flashables).
It's great for noobies to add any bloat they might want back as well as other things. Plus, it's good for making blank flashable zips for quick modifications, and the like.

Instead of a Repo tab, if there might be a Vibrant tab & a Captivate tab (and maybe any other phone that has interest).
They key is community involvement. I don't this model nor do I have the time to live on all Galaxy S subforums to keep up with all the modems/apps/roms each phone differs with
Thanks for reading~
For the Fascinate wouldn't it be the FCK? Then we could just add Samsung to the end of it and it'll be the FCK Samsung tool.
Sounds like a nice tool, I'd be interested in trying it out. Do you need anything from the community to make it a reality?

I would definitely use a FCK Samsung tool.
In all seriousness, yes it sounds like a cool program and I'd love to see how it would benefit the user's in a quick and easy app install or flash.
Download it on the vibrant forums and play with it

Yeah someone would have to input all the APKs & setup a text file with all the proper values for all the Fascinate apps, and then each dev that would like a separate repo would need to upkeep their own text file.
I'm willing to provide hosting for anyone that is interested in this. Hopefully my host can handle XDA
I would **LOVE** to see a kitchen for Android, probably the only thing I miss from my WinMo 6.1 Vogue is the ability to cook up a Rom to my specifications whenever I wanted. I like the name suggestion of 'FCK Samsung', but wouldn't it need to be a Samsung Galaxy S Custom Kitchen to encompass multiple varients? Or did I mis-read the intent by the OP?

FCK Samsung was mainly a joke
I think including "Kitchen" in the name of the program misleads people as it doesn't have the ability (yet) to cook roms. Just add things to your current ROM.
How is a "Rom Kitchen" different than using Rom Manager and a Rom that allows for customization, such as Sonofskywalker3's Blackhole?
That would be REALLY nice to have. I would use FCK Samsung. All jokes aside, yes, port it!

It allows the user to "cook" a rom completely to their preference. That's why I said the title of my program might be misleading as it does not have functionality to spit out ROMs (except the ones devs post).

Again, I'm missing the difference between "cooking" a rom to my preference in a 'kitchen', and "customizing" a rom to my preference in 'rom manager'
Not trying to be a pest, I'd really like the clarification
Okay, so everyone seems to enjoy dicking around with the name, but no one wants to explore what possibilities a ROM Kitchen could present to the user?

Why do I want the 2.1 Market Fix?
Evening,
What benefits do I gain from getting the 2.1 marketplace fix?
New apps? Better Apps? MORE APPS?!?!!!
I feel as though I should be in eager anticipation of it but I've no clue why?
Post it in the right spot, and I will answer.
From my understanding, The market fix is for users OUT of the USA. It enables them to see all the apps, instead of a limited amount.
Isn't it nice to just get an answer to your question
I guess some people dont mind being on their high horses. Like seriously, its a forum. Get over it.
Next time, just try and post in the right section. Then people wont be so snarky towards you.

Why do you have a holier than thou attitude? I understand you've been mistreated on these forums but you don't need to mistreat those who have done nothing wrong. You do a lot of great work and most people appreciate it even if they can't express it well, this has nothing to do with your dev work, which is excellent. You just come off looking like an asshole when you post things like that. You could have easily answered his question but chose to be condescending. It only makes the situation worse. You can yell at people for not searching or not posting in the right spot all you want but you need to realize that a lot of the people who come here are visiting for the first time and haven't seen all of your complaints of mistakes that almost every newbie makes. Sorry if I offended you somehow, just my views.

A) Wrong market patch is a project I have been working on, has nothing to do with being outside the US. Isn't it nice getting an incorrect answer. It enables a full market on these custom roms, allows you to switch between device specific markets, and maybe some surprises.
B) Forum is flooded, and if people read the rules they would know where to post stuff.
Isn't nice getting the wrong answer from someone who doesn't know what they are speaking of?

Current progress:

I am currently working on a website I plan to "release". It will be like a community where there will be a forum, custom ROMs section, download section etc and alot more to be added. There will be easy guides for root'ing, installing custom recovery etc. There will also be a good place for developers to help eachother, guides for porting and such stuff and alot more.
The design of the website is all made by me with photoshop, and its is coded (by me) with pure HTML, PHP, CSS and MySQL. Of course the design is still in "beta", and there will propably be alot of changes to it. For instance the main box and the right-menu will be changed, since its ugly imo. As I said alot of things will be changed! As CMS we will use Wordpress!
If you'd like to work as a news uploader, moderator at the forum etc, feel free to contact me.
Here is a screenshot of the website (The text on it is wrote by me in like 3 minutes ):

Again, it dedicated for the X10, not a million different devices. That means that the site is easier, more noob friendly. I know it can be hard for absolute noobs to know which thread to get to on how to root etc here on XDA. So this site will make it easier for them!
And the site will propably offer file hosting, so it'll be easy to have all x10 related on one site.
I'm think in the "custom ROMs" section, there will be a list of all available ROMs, with the most rated at the top, screenshots, Froyo/GB, specifications and all of that stuff. I certainly hope that developers will upload there ROMs themselfes!
Sounds like a good idea. I think that most beneficial would be an option to download any ROM and that kind of stuff from one place. XDA is good as people share they experience and communicate with each other, but it's still just a forum and despite the categorization these things are not grouped together, so having a dedicated website for X10 owners with all important stuff in it would be great. I'm looking forward to it
There is a couple of X10 dedicated sites out there. http://www.xperiax10.net/ is one of them.

Honestly, this may have been a good idea worth doing about a year ago but right now anybody with an X10 that is even the slightest bit interested in rooting would have found their way here by now.
Effort is good however you can make it big if you shift your focus a bit.
Make it a front end for XDA.
what i would suggest is
Don't include forum... too much of overhead, also no need of creating parellel forum and dividing efforts.
Focus on custom ROM's.
Provide noob guides
Provide video's of ROM working.
Provide refer back links to XDA forum.....
Forum is basically for discussion, you can work on providing X10i specific work in concise format.
Create FAQ's and howto's and tips and tricks....
great site about great phone
Maybe do it for the arc as well?
Okay, there are some really awesome ROMs out there that I'd like to try. However I don't seem to know enough about them due to a lack of information that all of them seem to have. I know it might add a bit but it would be nice to see just a text file in it with the following information filled out.

Kernel:

Maybe some other information that you can come up with that would also be useful.

Not really. We have a unified kernel now made by faux which tells what mbr you have d00, d100, etc and installs the correct one. So anyone can install anything now! Most devs post the info you seek. Some is just obsolete at the moment. Unless you're going back to gingerblur days, then this type of info would be used.

Lack of empathy? Seriously? Dude. Go to the development forum....pick the ROM you want....read the OP and possibly the second and third comment....then get busy installing whichever one it is you want.
Between these and the generic "noob" that takes you to fruitcakes, etc. everything is there.
And no, a unified list within a download would not be appropriate or useful. A) You'd have to download the ROM first, B) you'd have to extract the file to review and C) It doesn't make sense from a basic configuration management stand point. These ROMs aren't different branches from the same source but individual products. Each developer maintains their own change log for their individual ROM and even provides instructions. You normally only see this once CM7 gets official and developers start building ROMs off it. That's still a ways off though.

Faux's unified kernel pretty much takes care of all problems of multiple versions of the Atrix. and after that, it's just a matter of flashing the right radio (unless i'm missing out on a big step here, i'm really only used to my AT&T Atrix)

This is tiresome man so my last post on this...Each ROM/Kernel/Theme/etc. developer includes all the information you are looking for in their OPs or comment 2/3. Enforcing any other type of formatting or whatever on XDA is not feasible (all developers are independent and work on their own time why discourage people from using their creativity that the majority of contributors here enjoy) nor necessary.
KANG - To steal or a stolen code when referring to programming. Also can refer to leaked coding.
Due to the copious amounts of kanging that now happens in regards to android development I will be pulling all of my links and changing the original posts with this. If you would like to use my roms please feel free to find the kanged version elsewhere.
For inspiring developers, rtfm or ask someone who knows what they are doing before you steal someone elses work, look at someones code and get the general idea. If you port or use something as a base, credit that person. Do not just link back to the thread where you got it from. My email is [email protected] so feel free to ask questions, if I know the answers I will be willing to assist.
I don't wish to call anyone out but I will say there are a few roms, specifically for MT4G Slide that have been kanged. One of which was taken from me, another was a kanged version of CM7 which was just the Settings.apk SettingsProvider.apk and Launcher.apk replaced. CM7 is framework edits, not just a list of apps an entire team works on. You cannot just replace apps in CyanogenMod and expect it to work thus the reason some parts of the Settings.apk force close. Its not hard to be an idiot but its even easier to spot bull**** work, do yourselves a favor, leave xda, leave rootzwiki, leave whatever thread you are on and learn from people who know what the fk they're doing.
If my email fills with hate mail, then fine, at least what I did I feel was right and do not have to worry about my development being taken and rebadged, if I'm out of line then have a moderator delete and close my thread. Thanks!
I have learned a whole lot from you, and couldn't imagine missing them "classes"

The problem is a lot of people don't like IRC or have time like me to ever get on there. Look on rootzwiki I heard there's some pretty nice guides on deving there

Rootz has great guides, so does the google code page when it comes to smali/baksmali (thanks one_love)... But some people have an easier time learning when they are walked through the steps. I also plan on making notes of JKILO's sessions to keep for myself and to give out to those that are interested.

Im trying to hit whatever is best for all so I'll be flexible as much as possible. I plan to deliver the classes in a certain order too as in, porting, update.zips, logcat reading to get it to boot, editing the ramdisk for permissions or whatever else, and so on

Because my phone is being repaired, and this firmware I did before, but refined, it is now in common use! If I do not make my phone, I would not throw Huawei u8800, I think to buy Huawei g6600!
I can't install it. Error: "Can't open Zip (bad)"

If you have some basic knowledge.
Really! What is this? What a usefull post... What a wonderful world...
A new rom, that doesn't work, with some script error reported by someone, with a useful answer telling "If you have some basic knowledge." WTF? If I had some basic knowledge I would also do a new rom every week, with major bugs and no continuity. Right, Mlopik? Right, ilyaaa299?
Please, make your work worth real something, helping people to have a nice rom without you guys thinking that you are the good boys and the other the stupid guys. What a shame!
Just Wait...

I know your pain. I feel the same pain as well. Because we are brothers! :silly:
But, I am going to school right now. When I come back and the updater-script is not fixed then I will fix it.

We use Android why the hell we want it to be like iPhone????
I don't know any iPhone users wanted to have the phone looking like a android phone lololol
Be proud of what you have in your hands.
Our sub-forum is complete mess. Users just post roms basically from Chinese foruns yes that's right and without support only with downloads links and nor screenshots, changelog and whatsoever.
I do not want to blame anyone but if you want to help the community to post something good with directions and the rest.

Because Ilya is not a developer. And never he will be.
To OP: TEST your ****ING "work" before you upload it and make a thread with it, you son of a *****.
P.S.: look at these thread tags: [ROM][PORT][OFFICIAL][CM7]. You'd better add more of them.
