I love my Omnia 7 but one thing that bugs me is that every couple of days my feedback settings are enabled (Settings > Feedback).
I must have turned this off 20 times now. Anyone else seen this? Wondered if it was part of the terms of downloading apps from marketplace. It also seems to check the box to use my data plan! A friend with the same phone has also seen this regularly.
me too here, keeps coming back
I've just noticed this too!
I turned off feedback a few weeks ago. Now it's enabled again...
Bad Microsoft! Stop stealing my data usage.
Things like this need fixing fast. They seem to think adding new features will attract more users but don't seem to realise 100 little niggles will put everyone off.
I does happen when you restart your phone. So after every restart dont forget to turn off feedback.
I put the unlock clampdown on mine (samsung Tools) and it hasn't become enabled again yet.
Will continue to monitor.

Ok about a couple hours ago I noticed my wifi would turn itself on multiple times, and I turn it off and it keeps coming on, I think it does it when I put my phone to sleep, im not sure. I think it started happening since I installed the Blue Star 5 theme. Any ideas?
Stupid question... but you don't have Locale installed do you?
Figured I would ask. I have mine set up so that it would automatically fire up my wifi because although I get 3G outside I can't get it through my mighty wooden walls where I live. Go figure. Every so often I guess Locale looses my position and it puts me on and off the network. Pretty annoying. So I disabled that and installed some apps to keep my wifi on even while my phone sleeps. There's a few out there, Wifi Insomnia, Wi-Fi Lock, KeepWiFi are a few that I have experiment with. Although since I have all three installed now... I'm honestly not sure which one I'm using.

Hmmm. Well... maybe try seeing if it does it in safe mode if that doesn't work. If it does it in safe mode too then I dunno. If it doesn't then it's probably an app messing with it.
I heard it could be ShopSavvy that is causing that.
If you have an app like keepwifi that basically keeps your wifi signal on, that might be whats causing it. If not, you might want to try other apps that require things such as internet access or access to settings.
We need an list of apps you have installed. Power Manager will do this also.
I too am having this problem!
Sometime the wifi doesn't stay on and I only knew it was turning on thanks to wifi toggle's symbol at the top.
I am running JF's 1.43 RC9 with root etc etc.
The apps I have installed are:
ASTRO
Download crutch lite
DroidFtp
Droidsans tweak tools
fBook
GPS status
JF updater
Meebo
PapiJump
Picasa
Pkt auctions ebay
Ringdroid
Scrambled net
Shazam
Shopsavvy (my suspisions are on this one!)
Skype
Sms awake
Toggle wifi
Thanks
Phil
Okay, figured out what it is. Its the theme u downloaded. Couple hours ago my g1 started turning on the wifi whenever it felt like it.I figured it was something I downloaded recently but I downloaded apps to check them out& then uninstalled them.apps have no effect after u uninstall them.then u mentioned the theme u just downloaded. Well go figure,I just downloaded the same theme wit a few others today.then my wifi started acting up.concidence? I think not.
Lol let me know how u do.
Hmmm, im not sure if its the theme, someone mentioned the setting on ShopSavvy, after I took it off it hasnt been turning on. I still have the theme on btw, but I modified it, so it may have been ShopSavvy
wifi not turning on
My problem is different my wifi wont turn on? if i start my wifi it will show a message that wifi failed to turn on... Can anyone help me on this
Weird, i had shopsavvy from day one, never encountered such a problem. still have it, and deleted the theme. Now the wifi is back to normal. problem with the G1 is, everyone can have the same problems or issues but different solutions with each device lol. the beauty of the G1.
Btw, does anyone know if the "shake awake" app really kills the battery?

ShopSavvy is a definite cause of this problem. I've been in touch with the developers over it, and they have admitted that there's a problem with the WiFi coming on randomly
they've assured me that the next update will fix it. i hope so, because ShopSavvy was useful until it started doing this
here you go guys............i posted this in the Tethering thread as well. this will fix the issue. it is indeed Shop Savvy, but heres the fix, just copy and pasted from my other post:

1. On your G1, open the Shop Savvy APP
2. once Shop savvy's screen shows up, SELECT settings
3. select PRIVACY
****you will see a phase that says "find my location" with a button to the right that will say "ON"****
4. press the button, now it should say "OFF"
5. Exit out of Shop Savvy
Voila.........no more disconnects. I have been tethering for 2 hours non-stop. happy tethering.
my wifi keeps today also itself on
I never installed Shopsavvy. So that cant be the problem.
I didnt changed anything today on my phone

yes, this fixes the issue of ShopSavvy randomly switching on the WiFi and disconnecting ongoing sessions, but it completely renders the most useful thing about ShopSavvy useless.
I've been beta testing the latest version of ShopSavvy, and it doesn't seem to be doing this random WiFi anymore. It is also a version of ShopSavvy that is compatible with Cupcake 1.5.
Hey guys. Had my X10i for 2 months now. Just an hour ago, my gps went on by itself and I've turned the phone off and back on twice and its still on. Any reasons this could be happening? I went into the settings and and GPS satellites and Assisted GPS are on, but that was normal.
I know it may sound like a dumb question but I'm not that much of an idiot, or am I? Any helps would be appreciated.
Thanks.
It will probablybe an application you've installed which uses location services or a website that can use location services. If you always have GPS enabled it will do this every now and again.
MisterzaK
thanks misterzak. this is the first time ive seen this since ive had the phone. i'll keep an eye out on it. it stopped when i shut off maps with task panel after i posted but it came back on a few mins ago.
Try checking which apps you've recently installed. You can check whether they use location services in the Application sub-menu in the X10 settings. Some apps may let you switch off the location services they need.
Part of the reason I've replied is that I could see this topic going waaaaay out of control with loads of people saying they're having the same issue and that it is there is a massive fault in the phone.......a question like yours luckily had a simple answer.
People may have even thought it is Google checking up on them every 2 minutes, being "Big Brother" and all....
Hi guys, I've been using my Redmi Pro for around a week now, and it has a few issues which stops me from considering the phone to be an awesome one. They are:
- Whenever I let an app draw over other apps, it gets reset after a while. In practice this means that e.g. Facebook chat heads will work for some time but after a while chat heads is deactivated and needs to be deactivated again. This is an even bigger problem with Drupe, which becomes nearly useless without drawing over other apps.
- When an app needs me to allow various functions, e.g. letting an app use contacts, photos et.c., the "Allow" option doesn't work. I see "Deny" and "Allow" next to each other, but when I tap "Allow", nothing happens. Interestingly enough, "Deny" does work. I haven't found out why, but after trying a few times, it does work.
- The back button has temporarily stopped working 2-3 times. Again, it has started working again and I have no idea why.
Do you guys have the same problems? Any suggestion if there's anything I can do? THanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:
How's the battery backup?
I haven't had any of these problems. Which ROM are you using?
Might be a bit late, but I just got my phone and noticed Viber app being stopped all the time when i put my phone on table to sip some tea.
What happens is battery saver just turns off "unnecessary" services. In order to turn it off go to Security app on screen > battery > battery saver > Off.
Battery saver screen can also be reached by going to settings> battery > energy.
Hey guys,
This problem has been going on for a week or two now. Phone worked great when I first got it, but something must have changed (newest Verizon update, perhaps?)
Let me preface this by saying I've seen this happen both on Wi-fi and 4G. When on Wi-fi, and it happens, I've tried turning Wi-fi off and still get the same errors.
The apps affected seem to be random. A couple days ago it was Google Maps, I was getting the "offline navigation" prompt. Today it was Chase (couldn't screenshot it), TeamViewer, IMDb and so on.
Here are some screenshots. Note the time in the pictures.
- First encountered the problem when opening TeamViewer.
- Did a Speedtest to confirm that yes, I'm really on 4G as the phone shows, and it's quite a stable and fast connection too.
- Let's try some more apps. Here's Target's Cartwheel
- Delta app? Same problem.
- TeamViewer Host app. Same problem as the client.
- IMDb. One more random one not working.
- Lastly, I went back to Pokémon Go to confirm I DO still have network connectivity (not sure why the screenshot got ghosted like that, but you can see I just redeemed items from a Pokéstop I was near with no errors)
So as you can see, the phone itself, as well as certain apps, work fine. But others don't. I tried turning airplane mode on and back off, disabling/enabling mobile networks, nothing works. The only thing I can do is reboot the phone.
Any ideas? This gets incredibly annoying as I can't seem to go a whole day without *some* app whining that it has no network access. Some apps work flawlessly every time (like the aforementioned Pokémon Go) but others don't.
By the way, that little screenshot button in the bottom left is from this neat app called Custom Navigation Bar. I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with this problem, though, all it does is add buttons.

Do you have powersave mode on? I've had some problems with it enabled..
No I don't have power save mode on. Should I turn off the power monitoring of apps as well? Didn't think that mattered as long as power save mode was off.

You could try. I dont know, what i Said about powersave profile in battery settings Was My bet.
Skickat från min SM-G950F via Tapatalk
I turned all the power saving stuff off and still have this happening. As in, I set it to not even monitor how much power each app is using.
I'm currently using the Pumpkin 8.0 unit and I really like it - however, the process of when I get in my truck is not nearly as simple as I would like it to be and usually involves several minutes of having to stop-start personal hotspot on my iphone (or unlock the screen) and then often opening the wifi settings, sometimes seeing an authorization error that clears up on the next attempt. It's never the same process, seems like there are several things that happen different to get in the way of it just happening.
I have an iPhone 8 Plus I dont use very often that I was just keeping in there with Personal Hotspot turned on, which seems to stay on for a day without turning off. But I usually have to unlock it to get it to show up in the wifi section. Should I disable the lock, would that make a difference? What about using my Galaxy S7, would that be "easier", I havent really tired messing with it yet since that is my main phone.
What hotspot solutions do people use in their setups to avoid the "process" of getting online?
Assuming Android would be much easier. The quickest way I can turn it on off is with bixby with note 8.
Since I'm not rooted I couldn't get Tasker to automate it. I tried nfc tags also. Eventually bixby was my solution.
I'll follow the thread for other recommendations
I also tried NFC tag, but for some reason cellular data can not be switched ON by NFC soft on non-rooted phone (it's OK with WiFi hotspot) - keeping this down during day helps to save battery.
I tried the NFC tag and while I dont turn off cellular data, I was disappointed to learn from the developer that the API to turn on and off hotspots was removed by Google and is not supported in 3rd party apps. I put the quick setting in my drop down notification screen, so at least I can turn it on and off easily. I'm going to try the android phone for a couple days and see if its just another reason for me to dislike apple.
So I have noticed that this is only an issue after the device wakes from sleep via the fast boot. If you reboot the head unit for real it connects first time with no issues.
It also seems happy to connect to real wifi networks without any issues. I don't have an android phone so have not been able to try that, but it would be good to know others findings. I'm not sure how the iPhone hot spot works but it must differ slightly to a normally wifi base station.
